Robyn's voice is superb and she's so natural, so unaffected. She's my favourite female performer. But I can't always watch and listen because she reminds me of my beautiful late daughter (who was also an excellent vocalist) and I'm usually overcome with emotion.
Yes, Robyn’s is the best of the performances of The Lads on youtube. Beats the Corries into the dust. Just think of the charm of this. Is a dance in the barn really a dance? Or is it a tryst? The twinkle in Robyn’s een hints, does it not? And that elevates whoever wrote this song into Burns territory. Twinkle, charm and singing skill in a perfect performance. Bobby B and Jean Repath both smile down from heaven.
I want it back on Spotify too, tried to find the album to buy, but alas, with no luck. I emailed about two years ago to ask where I can buy the album, but no response unfortunately, so I doubt it will be back on Spotify anytime soon :(
Her voice is truly amazing, she does a great job with this song. I still love Willie Scotts version more however. I wish I could go to Scotland one day

Smashing stuff!! Robyn sang this lovely song at the Swallow Theatre gig just a few days ago. An utterly magical experience.
Fine performance, gives me goosebumps, thank you Robyn Stapleton.
Love you so much!
The definitive version, in my opinion. Please please please put it back on spotify?

Oh wow, this was wonderful!
How beautiful is that? Very!
Lovely Rendition!
Lovely. Truly wonderful.
Had only heard this from the Corries up to now. She does it well. And she's being accompanied by the master accompanist on bouzouki!
Her voice is truly amazing, she does a great job with this song. I still love

Sure Willie Scott has authenticity, but this should be sung by a women. By a man it is a bit of seduction, by a woman, it is advice.
Beautiful
I love you wee lassie and Scotland Paul p England x x ☺

Can anyone tell me what the third line of the second verse (the one about poets) says?
She’s saying “ there’s some old and dead but it’s pretty fair to say” the it’s pretty fair to say is shortened (it prit’ fair to say”
i'm pretty sure it goes
"Oh poets we've plenty, to this present day
That can sing just as sweet as the bardies and me
There some old and deid but I'm prit’ fair to say
They were lads that were reared among heather"
Ulster says Hi!
