      First of all, heartfelt thanks for watching this video. I really appreciate it brother.
      I know it’s not easy to find flaws or to dislike something that you’ve bought with your hard earned money.
      Moreover I am not trying to convince anyone that it’s a bad bike. It’s in fact the most value for money bike that one can buy for lesser 3L Rs. Just that the 40bhp engine isn’t that much fun. It’s power delivery s a bit too flat/linear & doesn’t give the adrenaline rush that you’d associate for a bike making this much power.
      An Apache RTR 200 or even an R15 V4 feels more exciting to ride than this considering the numbers that they make/produce.

      @@FTRClub I have an Apache rtr 200. Took a test ride of speed 400. This engine is miles better than what Tvs can produce. Speed was way more fun for me than my rtr but that’s just my take.

      @yugalkumar3534 I understand what you’re saying brother. I am not talking about the power . It’s about the power delivery which becomes really flat around 9,000 rpm onwards on the Speed 400.

      @FTRClub After 9000 rpm you say? Which means at the peak level? I feel the bike is built as a retro, and not a performance bike, still it throws you with sudden acceleration. I guess you are trying to compare it with the KTMs, as all other motorcycles you mentioned vibrate as if the vehicle will burst apart from 6000+ rpm.

    Great review. Your comment about basically getting bored with this bike after three rides can apply to any bike. Actually it can apply to just about anything. It is called hedonic adaptation. Just have some good chai or coffee, and admire the beautiful craftsmanship. Ride like you are in the moment with gratitude that you can afford a beautiful bike. I think our society (globally) keeps making us look for thrills. Anyway great video. Too cold to ride. Love that you can ride 12 months in a tropical country. Ride safe ❤️. Watching from 🇺🇸.

    Sorry that I am going to deviate a bit as I find your opinions very valuable.
    Between CB350 and Meteor 350, how should I choose? And why 😊

      😄😄 I used to have a tough time answering this question after the launch of Meteor 350. Both bikes are equally good and comfortable and cost nearly the same to run and maintain. If I were to pick, I’d pick the Meteor solely because there are 3 RE service centres within a few kms from my place. Buying isn’t a big deal, the main problem comes when it comes to maintain. The nearest BigWing Honda from my place where a CB350 can be serviced is about 14kms away.
      Reason#2
      I like the design of the Meteor 350 more than the Honda. The Honda is gorgeous machine but the Meteor has more street presence.
      Also if I am in the market looking for a retro motorcycle, I’d stretch my budget and consider the HD 440-X. It’s such a lovely motorcycle and I love the torque delivery on that thing.

    What is this so called character thing ?? I owned a duke 390 2017 model.. in initial one month it’s really exciting and scary..after one month it was my daily commute & a bike which I was habituated to..I was habituated to its fun part as well as its shortcomings.. now I am owning a speed 400 & same is applied for this bike also..if you try to find a character then every bike has it’s own..regarding speed 400: I am riding for last 9-10 days as my daily commute and ride it for 200 km.. in one word it’s an all- rounder.. this bike is evenly balanced in terms of comfort & performance..and believe me I am not getting bored yet..

      One finds the character in bike, when they cannot define the character in themselves.
      Bikes need to be fun, enjoyable, versatile. Which Speed 400 is.
      The people who want the top end madness of Duke are complaining about Speed that - not feeling 40bhp, vibration etc. Dude you are looking at the wrong bike, you want a Duke like bike then get a Duke.
      Speed 400 is optimized for low-mid end unlike Duke. It can handle city, hills, uneven roads with least effort on throttle. Easy, smooth and fun.

    I don't know why yu cant connect to the bike character...its really a good bike for city ride......also it feels really good to ride it...i own a dominor 400 and triumph Speed 400. i love triumph the more then dominor atleast for daily city use.

      I agree with the fact that Speed 400 is definitely a much better bike “FOR CITY” that the Domi. The Domi feels a bit too front heavy plus steering/manoeuvring that beast in tight city traffic is quite cumbersome.
      But it’s an excellent highway machine. I’d personally pick the Dominar 400 over the Triumph any given day for long highway trips.
      Triumph is bloody playful for city duties.

      Honda CB350 is a one of the most honest single cylinder bikes out there. Neither does it promise a lot nor does it leave you disappointed. It’s refined, it’s comfortable and it’s reliable.
      While it’s more about relaxed riding, Triumph is about aggressive riding, chasing traffic lights. Both bikes can do city and highway runs.
      If you like a thumpy engine with loads of bottom end torque and wish to ride with a passenger more of the time, get the Honda.
      If you like aggressive riding get the Triumph. You will not go wrong with any of the bikes.

      My choice would be CB350 then, because what you described about it matches my needs and wants.
      I am going for slower, safe riding in city and occasional (2 to 3 times a year) long rides (up to 350 Km one way) with a pillion...
      Between CB350 and Super Meteor 650, how should I choose? And why?

      @freddy9210 considering the fact that you will be using the bike in city primarily, Super Meteor 650 will be a bit too much to deal with. That bike needs a lot of place to make turns.
      Although it masks its weight quite well, but pulling it out from tight parking spots can get challenging. I won’t recommend it as a primary bike. It can very well be an excellent “Touring Only” machine. Regardless, I’d recommend giving it a try though to enjoy riding that bike.

    Nice video! Just found out about the Triumph speed 400 so I’m watching videos to find out about what should be the first bike I own. You mentioned the Honda CB300R which is on the top of my list for now although I also hear from almost all bikers that everybody outgrows their first bike really fast. I wonder what’s your opinion about getting a Honda CB650R as a first bike. It has amazing reviews, haven’t heard anything bad about it so far, everyone who rides it loves it. Do you think it works well as a beginner bike for a responsible rider? I would use it for city and longer trips as well. Thank you in advance! Have a good one!

      My best friend owns a 2017 CB650R which I’ve ridden a lot. It has over 40,000 kms on the ODO. That’s a bloody friendly bike. The power delivery is very linear and that makes the bike extremely forgiving to newer riders. And then if you give it some beans, it will cross 200 kmph in no time.
      During tighter turns, it does feel a bit front heavy in the beginning but once you get a hang of it, you’ll enjoy the bike to the core.

    At around 2.8L, would you suggest the speed 400 or a used 2022 Duke 390 with 5k km? Usage being 50km daily commute in sparse traffic and weekend rides of sound 300km. Would love to keep the bike for atleast 5 years

      Duke 390 is way more expensive to maintain . Then speed 400

      If I were supposed to pick one, I’d pick the used Duke 390 considering the fact that it suits my riding style which is a bit towards aggressive side. The only issue with the Gen-2 Duke 390 is that it needs a lot of downshifting in city traffic else the bike would stall.
      The Triumph however has an advantage in city as it doesn’t require too many downshifts and you can hold a gear higher.
      It’s mainly on the highway, where the Duke 390 outshines the Triumph by miles. It has got so much juice that even at 140-150 kmph, you can overtake vehicles easily.
      Also, the 2022 Duke 390 comes with a 5 year engine warranty which brings a lot of peace of mind. I hope this helps.

      @@FTRClub thanks. That was my exact observation over the test ride of speed 400, very tractable engine at slower speed. Unfortunately due to the location of the showroom, I wasn't able to check the highway performance. Will check out the 390.
      Any idea how the new gen Duke 250 compares to the speed 400?

      Go with the Triumph. It has a better engine plus the suspension is significantly better on Triumph compared to the VStrom.

    Qualquer moto tem sua própria característica. Para você eu creio que deveria esquecer qualquer motos e comprar um TRATOR uma Máquina ESCAVADEIRA com 500 ou mais CV. e um torque de 300 NEWTON METROS. Só assim ficaria contente. Eu sei o que você quer dizer mas isso são com todas as motos. Você vais se acostumar e não vai mais sentir aquele power de INÍCIO... isto é normal com qualquer moto. E não coloque isso só com a TRIUMPH SPEED 400. Já encomendei a minha aqui no BRASIL estado do Rio Grande do Sul, cidade de PELOTAS. Estamos aguardando para meados de Fevereiro /23 para início de Março/23. Se Deus assim o quiser. Parabéns FTR Club

    Although i see your point, id slightly disagree. Well i own it so ofcourse im gonna be biased. Ive had it for 2 months now but i still find excuses to ride this bike. Its absolutely beautiful in the city(where i mostly ride). People who owned 200 or sub 200cc bikee and bought this wont get bored anytime soon lol . If youre used to riding bigger bikes or even crazy machines like the 390 then yes you will get bored. Because on paper its the same figures as the 390 but its definitely nowhere near that powerful. Agreed, the gears are not smooth they're bit clicky.

      I agree. I’ve been riding more revv happy bikes and of course higher capacity bikes which make significantly more power for a few years now and perhaps that’s the reason why I felt this way. In city, the Speed 400 is bloody brilliant and really quick on its feet and there’s no denying that.

      It’s absolutely fine. You won’t really need Traction Control system in these smaller capacity bikes.

    I purchased it out of an impulse decision (because I have a bigger Kawasaki 650). Done 1000+ Kms in 2 months in both city and on highway.
    It’s a fun and exciting bike with good combination of performance and features at a tantalizing price and from an ‘aspirational’ brand.
    I’m loving this cute little beauty and I’ve never had a problem so far (except of course the fuel gauge issue) !

    Triumph's Engineer has made this bike to ride it in a calm manner however if you provoke it, it will not disappoint you!
    I guess staying calm is the Bike's character.
    This bike will appeal to people who have lots of patience rather than short tampered !
    The bikes handling is predictable and precise hence it might feel boring to some experienced riders but the build quality suggest that the bike would last for couple of decades.
    We should understand our requirement and choose the motorcycle or any consumer product for that matters as per our needs.
    Always remember, there's no one fit all product.

    Exactly. Be it Speed 400 or FZ25 or Pulsar 250, all rounder bikes, or bikes which are designed to appeal to a very broad spectrum of customers, become very boring very soon. To be truly exciting, the product should have one focussed, identity defining aspect. Like R15- cornering, Xpulse - off roading, Himalayan - touring, Classic/Bullet - calmness, Pulsar 220 - straight line monster, NS/RS- redline fanatics, KTM's - unadulterated madness, Apache RTR's- feeling of riding a race derived machine......I bet the Scrambler 400 would be lot more exciting than this one.

    Brother, this is a retro modern associated with suitable power dilivery. It's not ktm duke 390, neither the company claims it to be.

      I agree and I am not comparing this with KTM D390 either. My point is that even a CB300R with a smaller engine and significantly lesser power and torque figures feels more fun and engaging to ride.
      I am not saying this a bad bike. What I am saying is you’ll outgrow this bike in no time.

    i own unicorn 150 now , planning to buy one bike from speed 400, honda cb300r, RR310 , suzuki Sf 250 , i am a 29 year old farmer from tamilnadu, suggest me best one, i am confused, any way nice video this one

      Depends on what you plan to do. If you want a versatile package get the Suzuki VStrom SX250. It’s a lovely bike with almost no problems at all. I won’t recommend the RR310 coz it’s not nearly as refined as any other bike you’ve shortlisted. Triumph is also a lovely option, but if you don’t have a service centre in your hometown then it will get difficult.

      You have plenty of choices brother:
      1. Suzuki VStrom SX for comfortable city and highways with mild off-roading
      2. Karizma XMR is another option which has a brilliant Engine and Chassis and it’s the cheapest to buy and maintain.
      3. Triumph Speed 400 is possibly the best under 3L with lovely build quality and powerful engine
      4. Meteor 350 for cruising
      It all depends on your riding style, budget and availability of service centres near your place.

    I own a speed 400.
    Yes, it doesn't quite feel like a bike having 40bhp of power. It doesn't have the madness of a KTM 390.
    It's fun nonetheless. It feels right and coherent. A well put together beautiful eye-catching bike. For what it offers, there's no bike quite like it in 2.8lkh on road price.

    I have ridden KTMs and they are worst. Simply love the Speed 400, every time I ride. This had opened my interest on bigger bikes.

Everyone has different preferences. you might not like it and that’s fine but making a statement that people will get bored is something should be left to actual owners who ride the bike daily. You need to learn to take feedback from viewers positively else no one will care to watch or subscribe you in long term.

    On Indian roads BHp number won't exist.
    We only drive in 80-100
    The roads and the public on roads are won't allow us to make 160/40bhp..
    We see only For looks !

    ride a hunter and tell me whether it suits your taste as it feels fresh everytime i ride it have done 12000 kms in 12 months and absolutely love its crude character

      I test drove a Hunter and found it to be bulky, heavy and slow. It took forever to to get 100kph and struggled to cruise at 100kph. 20hp for a 350...not good and yes, even RE thumpers have vibration.

      @@molonlabe9602 brother please take ktm390 if your need fast stuff coz in india 100kmph is high and dangerous speed. hunter long stroke is for initial high torque and go best at 60-90 kmph range only, if you load a heavy pillion and also some 20-30 kg load it will not slow down either/ if you want to climb hills it will do it easily ,

      @@FTRClub yea the engine is smooth and refined. The brakes and suspension is also quite good. But the quality of the plastics are bad

      @aknjr573 vibration in the Triumph appear only when you trying to hit the top speed of the bike or when you are riding at 9,000 rpm or more. Else it’s quite smooth overall.
      I think the other bike that you are talking about is the Honda CB300F and not the Hornet 2.0 (180cc). Is that right?

      Between the Speed 400 and Karizma XMR, I will pick the Karizma coz it’s 60k cheaper plus it’s going to be extremely affordable to maintain as it’s a Hero and there are plenty of service centres everywhere across the country.
      Moreover the bike is properly suited for both city and highway usage plus it has a better fuel economy as well.

      Among the CB 350RS and the CB 300R, I will definitely pick the CB 300R. My best friend has that bike and man it’s so much fun and lightweight to ride. That engine is a gem.

      Between Triumph and Harley… I will pick her Harley coz that engine feels more honest. The bike delivers what it is meant to do. And I love the exhaust note too, doesn’t matter even if it doesn’t look fancy.

    Getting bored with a well built high performance thumper is just silly, it's a motorcycle. This bike blows away the 350cc Royal Enfields and everything else in it's class in an all-around comparison.

    I was also very thrilled about the cb300r, but for a Honda its very viibey. From 6k rpm, the buzz starts to build up all the way to 9k on the tach, so i tried to only push it to 7.5k where peak torque arrives, on 4th, 5th and 6th, but it was very very vibey, the exhaust screams too. This 400 bike starts buzzing from 6k rpm too, bit if you don't push either bikes beyond 6k, even then this makes 30bhp and 34Nm at exactly 6000rpm, (I've studied and power and torque curves), that's way better than cb300r making 30bh0 at 9k rpm screaming away to glory and only making 27.5Nm torque at 7500 rpm very much in the buzzy range. For 3 lakh a piece, this bike can deliver way more power and torque at just 6000rpm compared to cb300r and perhaps deliver better mileage too since it's basically babied at 6k rpm and under. I'm actually disappointed as I'm quite a Honda fan boy. I was this close to buying the 300r till I rode the speed 400. Now I'm heart broken but I agree with you that this bike will get boring to me very soon, as everything is so linear, no surges anywhere. Plus the ride by wire is twitchy at the first couple mm of throttle opening. You'll notice in bumper to bumper traffic or when you try to feather the throttle. So I'm back to thinking of the boring cb350. I own a Unicorn, so I'm allergic to vibes, Honda has spoilt me rotten ,😎

      Even I have been hearing it from other latest CB300 owners that the quality has dramatically dropped since Honda has started to manufacture the CB in India. My closest friend owns the 1st generation of CB and man that’s smooth. With the competition growing so much every day, not sure what Honda is upto. They seem to be too busy selling Activas and are ignoring the motorcycle buyers.
      And yeah, all these Japanese brands quite literally spoil us riders with their refinement and bulletproof build quality. That’s 100% true.

    I just dont believe he says bike lacks a character. Looks like he is totally influenced by Shumei and Karthikeya singvi. Speed 400 is an amazing bike despite having an Interceptor 650 I prefer takkng out speed 400. For the reason irs a very obedient bike and so light. To his own word if this bike is compared with CB350 the CB350 except for Dimensions doesn't stand a chance in front of Speed 400

      I didn’t speak about CB350, buddy. I talked about the CBR 300R. I admit that the Speed 400 picks up speed in no time, but then the power delivery becomes flat, although it has a claimed 40bhp. A 28bhp CBR 300R or a 39bhp Ninja 300 pulls cleanly until it reaches the limits. You have an Interceptor, right. Fine it’s a parallel twin with a different firing and engine, but do you hit a flat spot in the powerband? Nope. The Speed is certainly a lovely city bike, but on highways, it doesn’t behave the way a 40bhp bike would.
      And yeah, although Shumi and Karthikeya are the most respected and experienced auto journalists, and I do admire them, but I still cannot digest their awfully long videos, which are intended to play mid video ads by UA-cam for revenue. 😄😄

      @FTRClub my bad if I heard it as 350 for 300. But CBR 300 and Ninja are in sporting categories which I think will have better dynamics to ride fast and can sustain high limits. Coming to my int 650 initially it used to not hit the flat point but now bike is almost 4 yrs old and engine is getting quite stressful and I am unable to get decent performance. Ofcourse Triumph should have rather named it as Street 400 instead of Speed. I have planned a Bangalore to Sakleshpur that will be the litmus test for the bike . Thanks for clarifying

      😄😄😄 I hated the Bangalore dealership brother. It’s actually a nice bike for someone upgrading from smaller capacity bikes. But is someone has been riding a 250cx bike, then they will not find this very exciting regardless of the 40bhp number.

    Don't purchase it, this machine will make you regret like my bike has encountered starting issue and Triumph delhi cannot diagnose it, still with them , poor reliability Triumph , don't be filled by all the reviews and all.

    This statement that bike should have charecter is stupidity at its finest. The bike is a thing it assumes the character you give it. The CB300R is day light robbery compared to the performance the speed 400 provides. This is the problem with people who make up opinions just to have one it doesn't work that way.

      I purchased it out of an impulse decision (because I have a bigger Kawasaki 650). Done 1000+ Kms in 2 months in both city and on highway.
      I’m loving this cute little beauty and I’ve never had a problem so far (except of course the fuel gauge issue) !
