Analog gauges are better. You don't have to read them. You just have look at their position. All you have to do is see the needle position on the dial, and you've got the information. Ever wonder why airplanes still have so many analog dials? And big rig trucks? That's why
It might just be Triumph is using that cluster on their test bike to get all the information needed. The double clock actually has to little information if putting say a six axis IMU on the bike and making a RS version. It would be sweet though if they preserv the current day 1200 as well.
I have the 22 speed twin with the glorious red. I almost sweated a bit seeing theres an upgrade so soon, but then realizing the new one doesnt have the round tank and the beautiful analog dash made me realize i have the best version of the bike.
One large clock will spoil the aesthetics of the 1200, it needs/has to have twin clocks. An LED in the middle, like on the Z900RS, would also work well on the bike.
Scrambler 900: 19 inch front wheel, 17 centimeters shocks, 6 speed gearbox, no hot exhaust, tubeless spoked tires, small dual clocks and lighter; thank you
@@logangodofcandybought both, best decision I made in years switching between them always gives that "new bike" feeling, because they are so different
As somebody who’s hovering over the “buy button” on the Street/Speed Twin 900, I hope this is a just a flashy variant. The whole appeal of the 900 to me is its simplicity of its lines and its relaxed atitude, whereas this looks a bit shouty. I’m not keen on the T100 because it’s trying to look like an old bike, whereas the 900 is an unashamedly modern bike with a classic silhouette. If I wanted sportier, I’d just go for the 1200, or one of the millions of other sporty bikes on the market. I don’t even like Triumph as a brand, I just think the current 900 is exactly what I’m looking for in a bike (apart from all the gammony Union Jack logos).

Going to discuss a purchase of SpeedTwin 900 today with the dealer and I just came across this video. Now I don't know whether to wait for the 2025 version or pull the trigger on the current one :)). I rode the ST 1200 last week and somehow did not like it at all in the beginning (coming from a Suzuki V-Strom 800). But it grew on me in a strange way. I just woke up two days later knowing I want one. But not the 1200, too expensive and too powerful for my needs. 900 will be enough.
Speed twin 1200 is already a good looker with twin clocks and gas tank shape. Any change in these will spoil the looks in my opinion. Rear shock upgrade is just enough.
Great updates to both bikes. Hope the 900 also gets a bigger fuel tank. Owned a Street Cup a couple years ago and while it was frugal, I regularly wished for more fuel range.
The speed twins are definitely a keeper bike so classic bonus to have sorted suspension faultless… despite just having my new arrival 2024 S1000XR love it too !! Love your channel 😎
I prefer the traditional head light on the current 900 and the overall classic looks, to me it is a stripped down Bonneville and that’s why I bought one. Better rear shocks and forks are good but I prefer the traditional look for this bike.
I've always liked the Speed Twin (Street Twin) 900 because it is a simple machine. I don't think it needs to attempt to keep up with the latest technology. It is a simple riding machine. That's all it needs to be.
At 7min there are speed twin 1200 new shots when still talking about the 900. It’s a no to digital clocks on a retro from me. Reshaped tank might give steering lock better than an oil tanker as per current model.

You’re the second “expert” who talks about unsprung weight on usd forks, the benefit of usd forks is that on compression the flexible stantions go inside the sliders which support the forks in the clamps, whereas on right way up forks the stantions can still flex under hard braking!
Wish manufacturers would extend the back of front mudgaurd. They might think a short mudgaurd looks 'cool', but all the crap from the wheel covers the front of the bike.
I bought my first Speed Twin 2021 in November wrecked it in MAy 2022 and bought another Speed Twin 1200 in another color with Jekyll n Hyde Flap Exhaust and still t got it with 30k Kilometers on it. Even went to Norway for holiday with it

the single hybrid clock looks like a step down on the 1200. If RE can do analog clocks with tech, then Triumph should also be able to. I bought my Thruxton R years ago because it encapsulated the retro aesthetic so well, and a lot of that had to do with the dual clocks. I also had the first R9T model and when the updated model came out with the classic dual clocks I immediately upgraded to that. The clocks are such an integral part of the retro styling, that going for a single hybrid clock seems like a step a little too far towards modernity. I felt the same way about the new Scrambler 1200 X, everything was fine except for the clocks. It would have been a great change if they'd just put the clocks from the t120 or the Thruxton onto it. Obviously, I'm not buying any of them and I'm just voicing my opinion on these, but it feels as though Triumph is beginning to move in a weird direction with their bikes. the Daytona 660, the Scrambler 1200 x, these prototype speed twins. They just don't have the same presence and vibe as their predecessors do. Yes, they've added a lot of new goodies, but the feeling isn't there. I guess it's to make them more accessible and reach a broader demographic at the expense of a little bit of character.
There are always many comments about wanting twin clocks, why don't manufacturers take note? Can see that techy TFTs suit tourers and large ADVs, but not for this category.
It just seem incongruous to me---- that Triumph make their engine styling a doppleganger replica of the Triumph unit engine that dates back to 1959 (right down to the fake Amal carbs!)---- but the REST of the bike, they keep moving further and further away from classic Triumph styling. I mean the black cases, the shape of the fuel tanks, the paint schemes and colors, the tank insignia, the tire sizes, the upside down forks, the alloy rims , upswept pipes, the signal lights and headlight, instrument cluster, the front fender, etc, ET CETERA !
I’m considering buying a 900 speed twin. A bigger tank and better front brake is all that’s needed in my view. The rest will just make an already expensive bike cost more. Keep it simple and keep the cost down. That, the seat height and the looks are what make it a best seller.
Great video! I always wished Triumph would make a Speed Twin 1200 with up-spec suspension. The Thruxton is too uncomfortable for me. I agree 100% with Motobob. A Speed Twin 1200 RS would be awesome.
If the ST1200 got the dash from from the scrambler 1200 XE & Rocket i would be OK with that. Proper TFT. If it gets the 660 Trident/Tiger/Daytona dash that would be so disappointing - giving up twin clocks for a budget dash is just cheap. At least if full TFT that is something premium…..
MotoBob ALWAYS delivering the good news ! 👌😎 Never understood why they didn't give the Speed Twin 900 a 17" front wheel when they have the T100 & T120 to satisfy the old farts and hipsters going for the nostalgic look.🤷♂🤦♂ There's going to be A LOT of good bikes with DEAD fancy and super expensive instruments in the not so far future. I rode a 1983 GS1100G with anolog Tach and Speedo, that bike it's 41 years old. Think about it . . . Do you really think these electronic instruments with the fancy color screens are going to last that long too ? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.
It took me a year to make changes to the front and rear suspension, get the right sound and performance out of the intake, engine and exhaust, by deleting the airbox and installing a high flow filter, professionally tuning the engine, deleting the cat, finding the perfect headers and end cans to really make this 270⁰ twin both sing freely and stir the soul of the enthusiast.... verex of Tasmania, Australia headers straight through to British Customs Predator pro end cans achieved this outcome... and gave 18% more torque and about 12% more HP throughout the entire rev range up to redline. If Triumph could achieve this, or at least some of these gains out of the box, I think it could only broaden the attachment to a lustworthy ride.
Triumph. - Please keep the twin clocks and add a nicer looking twin exhaust like the British customs or Vance & Hines versions! Maybe a totally blacked out version too but beggars can’t be choosers!
I hope they are not planning to put nissin instead of brembo, I wanted the stealth paint job which was not available as I went for booking so I am waiting, I hope they maintain the classic look and iconic style.
Beside the rear shocks upgrade I hope they make the 1200 a little bigger in overall size so that it fits also for riders above 1.80. E.g. a bigger fuel tank, lifting up the whole front with the dash to give more of a super bike feeling. And last but not least the twin semi analog clocks must stay.
They haven't changed their Bonneville frame / engine formula since they discontinued the Bonneville America model. Doubtful they would make any changes to the 1200 frame for the Speed Twin or the T120. one can dream tho! just my 0.02
As a very happy and proud owner of a first generation Street Twin 900 I hope what I see is just an RS version of the 900 which may replace the Street Cup. PLS Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm against improvements like upside forks or a digital gauge etc, but I love the street/speed Twin 900 as it is just because it doesn't have such fancy tech and yet it's still modern but looks Retro in a perfect blend. If I wanted upside down forks and digital dash I would probably got a Ducati scrambler but I didn't. I admit tough that the front headlight looks better and an aluminum rear swing arm could also help to shave some kg away from the motorcycle making it a bit lighter which it will always a welcome improvement, but I hope its just an RS version and that's it which I'm sure it will be a nice addition to the 900 series for those who feel that a 1200cc would be just too much.
Here's my question. I sat on a Triumph 765 and loved it. Unfortunately I'm 6'1" 195 pounds and I look like an ape on it. I haven't sat on the Speed Triple 1200 (my dealer didn't have one in stock) but in pictures they appear to be the same size and the seat is only slightly higher. Any suggestions on a suitable alternative that's built for larger riders ? Thanks and I enjoy your videos.
They definitely needed to update the Speed 900 after the 400 came out with at least upside down forks, LED lights and indicators. I Wish they would also upgrade it to a six speed gear box but I doubt they will.
I own the 1200 speed twin and think the bike is great, but for me the 1200 engine is to big and powerful for day to day riding, but the styling is spot on. So I will be interested in this 900 model as the power of the engine seems to suit my riding ability more lets hope it appears in the future.
I owned the newer speed twin 1200, the overwhelming mod was folks putting the rear shocks from the Thruxton on the Speed...It was going to be my next mod. The rear was a bit to generic for Detroit roads.
I would love to see - a 17" front on the 900 and - for both bikes an option for taller riders I sold my Street Twin for the 18" front and stepped back to replace it with a Speed Twin (1200) because its just too small for me.
I need more then 12l fuel tank and then, with LED headlight, im totally interested in the Speed Twin 900. Actual i ride a trident 660 und to be honest. I still love it ;)
Honestly throwing the cheap shitty trident dash on the speed twins is a massive downgrade, the analog dial is one of the major leg ups it has over the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone, throwing that away is just a dumb move. The only technology a bike like the 900 should have is the legally required ABS, the appeal of a bike like this to a lot of people is to get away from all the unnecessary nonsense you get on most modern bikes now. I hope they're just throwing this dash and headlight on for testing purposes like on that test bike for a potential Daytona 765, it'd be out of character for Triumph to drop the ball on details like this that they normally always nail on their retro's.
Looks like the comments are lamenting the 1200's twin clocks. Yes, they look good while looking at the bike. But they've horrible while riding the bike, it's my biggest complaint. The angle of the clocks, the legibility, the various dash lights that are basically not visible. However I require a tach.
I wanted the 1200. Liked the way it looks more. But the seat height of the 900 was the selling point for me. Wish the 900 had the same look as the 1200. But with alower seat height. 😥
Wish someone besides (MV Augusta) would a retro styled bike with actual HP. I bought an R9T a few years ago over a Thruxton partly because of the power. But now that one of my bikes has 200hp the R9T feels slow. Why not something like a speed twin or xsr 900 with 150hp?
Speed twin 1200 2025 - Hp and torque will increase by 7% to 8% due to a bigger exhaust and partly due to better rear absorber. Price should go up by approx 15%.
kislux You are so well-informed about luxury accessories and bags. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much.
Brilliant ride; Wish the dash had more data like a clock vs a menu items. Helloo.. Cables too short to not easily add handlebar risers. Why do I had to add gas line extensions at a min. Triumph could take all bike sales if they had a 1200 version with quick shifter; cruise control, and some other traction control features. Lets do a more comfy seat also ! Why does honda has such bouncy comfy seats and these ST bonny's are a pain in the ass; for 2 up.
Maybe we don't get a Thruxton 900 I was wishing a few years ago, but it could get really close to that. I just hope that the 900 gets a 6-speed gearbox.
sad if it goes to single gauge vs twin gauges. makes it too modern if it goes single. I personally made mine already into a Speed Twin 1200 R or RS however you want to brand it.
On the 1200 the ohlin shocks yes, but definitely keep the twin clocks, love that classic look
Agreed. Otherwise I'd rather get a current model and with the money saved upgrade the suspensions

Analog gauges are better. You don't have to read them. You just have look at their position. All you have to do is see the needle position on the dial, and you've got the information. Ever wonder why airplanes still have so many analog dials? And big rig trucks? That's why

Never understood why they didn't give the Speed Twin 900 a 17" front wheel when they have the T100 & T120 to satisfy the old farts and hipsters going for the nostalgic look.🤷♂🤦♂
There's going to be A LOT of good bikes with DEAD fancy and super expensive instruments in the not so far future.
By deleting the Airbox, wouldn’t it lose the build up of static pressure that the Airbox are tuned for the Throttlebody and cylinder intake?
@@Morados tuned professionally to take the more open airflow into account
Hopefully we get a updated scrambler 900 too which still has the crazy low end torque but more sporty 🙌🙌
Speed Twin 900 needed that upside down upgrade especially post the Speed 400 launch.
That USD fork on the 900 should make it easy to update the internals with fully adjustable ones from K-Tech or a similar aftermarket company.
Triumph. - Please keep the twin clocks and add a nicer looking twin exhaust like the British customs or Vance & Hines versions! Maybe a totally blacked out version too but beggars can’t be choosers!
If anyone at Triumph is here, stick with the analog clocks.
Agreed
Hope they’re not going to replace the dual clocks for the 1200 Speed Twin mate.
I hope they are not planning to put nissin instead of brembo, I wanted the stealth paint job which was not available as I went for booking so I am waiting, I hope they maintain the classic look and iconic style.
Just get a gen 1 ST and put decent suspension on it to retain the classic look. That’s what I’m doing with Nitron both ends.
Going from an 18" frontwheel to a 17" only requires 1/2" longer forks. Or a thicker tyre. Or both in combination. 🙂
Hoping for a new Scrambler 900 with tubeless spoked rims.
Do that and I'm buying.
Keep em coming MotoBob. 👍
Doubtful they would make any changes to the 1200 frame for the Speed Twin or the T120. one can dream tho! just my 0.02
Some more tank colors and graphics would be cool. I like the tanks on the 400's and the Trident.
Quick sifter switch
Look!
I own the 1200 speed twin and think the bike is great, but for me the 1200 engine is to big and powerful for day to day riding, but the styling is spot on. So I will be interested in this 900 model as the power of the engine seems to suit my riding ability more lets hope it appears in the future.
Tech dash should be optional and analogue twin dials should be standard
Hope the new speed twin 900 can be seen on the eicma 2025
I owned the newer speed twin 1200, the overwhelming mod was folks putting the rear shocks from the Thruxton on the Speed...It was going to be my next mod. The rear was a bit to generic for Detroit roads.
I would love to see
- a 17" front on the 900 and
- for both bikes an option for taller riders
I sold my Street Twin for the 18" front and stepped back to replace it with a Speed Twin (1200) because its just too small for me.
Figured this mght happen when they dropped the Thruxton!
Needs a higher seat height on the 1200 pls!
i would trade my 23 Speed Twin 1200 in a heartbeat for this 2025 version
Looks like the comments are lamenting the 1200's twin clocks. Yes, they look good while looking at the bike. But they've horrible while riding the bike, it's my biggest complaint. The angle of the clocks, the legibility, the various dash lights that are basically not visible. However I require a tach.
I always wanted a thruxton with flat bars, would be a seller
I wanted the 1200. Liked the way it looks more. But the seat height of the 900 was the selling point for me. Wish the 900 had the same look as the 1200. But with alower seat height. 😥
I just love my analog clocks just little display for the time and the rest milage
I'd finally buy speed twin 1200
Speed twin 1200 2025 - Hp and torque will increase by 7% to 8% due to a bigger exhaust and partly due to better rear absorber. Price should go up by approx 15%.
I'm not a lady about the analog clocks. If the color is right, I think I'll buy one
kislux You are so well-informed about luxury accessories and bags. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much.
As always very interesting. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why does honda has such bouncy comfy seats and
these ST bonny's are a pain in the ass; for 2 up.
God I hope they don’t change the clocks, the current ones are fab!
I do like the new seat .
Do you think the 900 scrambler will get the same treatment?
Here headlamps look like speed 400. Also, any updates on new scrambler 900?
Maybe we don't get a Thruxton 900 I was wishing a few years ago, but it could get really close to that. I just hope that the 900 gets a 6-speed gearbox.
sad if it goes to single gauge vs twin gauges. makes it too modern if it goes single. I personally made mine already into a Speed Twin 1200 R or RS however you want to brand it.
Yeah, if they see these comments. Twin clocks please.
They probably want to upsell people to the T-series to get the nicer stuff I bet.
