  • An overview and a quick test of the Anker 737 86.4Wh 140W PD 3.1 power bank. I've been using this to power my work laptop, and it happily keeps me going all day.

This may not be the biggest capacity power bank, but it's very portable. It can shift its power around quickly and, with the ever-increasing use of gallium nitride tech (GaN), fairly efficiently. I wanted something to keep me going on my laptop for an entire working day.
The initial charge of the laptop sucks out power at about 50W, which depletes the battery very quickly. However, once charged to 100%, the laptop gently consumes the juice at 5-10W, and the battery can keep me going all day.
It's overpriced, but it's a new product from Anker, so they always are. Paying £140 for a few cells and some tech is ridiculous. This will come down in price or become available on a sale at some time, and you will get an absolute bargain.
The battery I use in this demo is the Anker PowerHouse II 400 - geni.us/anker533

you could just get a 240W-48V cable which would be better than the free 140 cable they give you (which is not a usb-IC spec). and you could test it with a Pinecil soldering Iron which may be the only other PD 3.1 device in the world right now next to the macbook 2022 laptop. a real EPR device will run on the Anker 737 at 28V and not measly 20V.

The Anker 733 is a GANPrime™charger with 65W of power output going to 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB-A. It also has a 10,000mAh battery built in, however the charger can only supply 30W of power on battery. You can actually recharge the battery through the top USB-C port; you don't have to charge it with the AC outlet.

I can think of two reasons. Firstly, you're using the USB-A port to charge. Secondly, your battery is already at a high percentage and won't be at the same stage of charging where a high current (and therefore higher power) is drawn. Other than that... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wont charge my Asus G15 for some reason. My laptop can accept 100w over USB C. When I plug this battery into it, it starts to charge, reaches about 10w charging speed, then the battery shuts off and turns back on again. It will do this forever. I dont have anything else that charges at 100w but when I plug my phone or other small devices in it charges those fine. What I find odd is if I use a lower rated cable that cant handle 100w fast charging, the laptop does charge but it charges at 60w. Then switching to higher powered cables that I've ran 90w + on this laptop, it goes back into the power loop. Im using another Anker wall adapter right now and its fast charging my laptop at full speed. There is something weird with ankers "smart" charging detection or something.

Ports on mine stopped working intermittently, ones that did work didn't even charge the steam deck properly. Putting a phone in on top made it even worse. the 30 odd watt it gave to the deck went down to 20, the phone that shoudl bepulling 20 pulled 8. I don't think it becomes useless. All batteries start losing their capacity the more cycles they've had, so maybe what they mean is that after 300 cycles you can feel that the overall capacity is reduced. Now I am sure that it's not gonna be crazy like it having only half of its original capacity, but maybe expect it going from 24k mah to around 20kmah on that point. Truth is that it happens with absolutely every single device so I think it's reasonable
