    UPDATE 23/08/22: Here's the response from Anker Support I've had about the issues charging DJI Mini 3 Pro batteries since posting this video.
    Sometimes a low voltage error pops up on the 737 when trying to recharge these DJI batteries - which then stop charging. Disconnecting and reconnecting them can sometimes get them to charge properly but it's not always reliable. The issue is DJI's dock sometimes draws more power than it initially asks for from the power bank - leading to the low voltage error. Anker will add 12V charging to the 737 power bank in the near future which they think will fix this issue. Until then, I wouldn't suggest getting the 737 for recharging Mini 3 Pro batteries in the Dock. Not having any issues when charging any other devices! ✌🏻
    Full Response from Anker Support below:
    "Please know that our engineers have done a lot of tests on the DJI Mini 3 Pro. And Here are our findings.
    1. DJI's Charging Dock states that it supports power input 5V==3A,9V==3A, and 12V==3A, but our power bank cannot support 12V==3A. So the DJI charging dock will negotiate the power input with our power bank at 9V.
    2. But when we connect the DJI charging dock to our power bank, we find that the dock only asks for 9V==2A at the first, so our power bank only gives 9V==2A. That's why you will find the real output hovers around 18W. But sometimes the dock doesn't comply with the agreement, he asked for 9V=2A first but then compulsively drew 3A from our device, thus the voltage our device can finally give will be lower than 9V (because the total needs our power bank received at the very first is 9V/2A=18W, if 3A is drawn, then theoretically the final voltage will be 18W/3A=6V). Therefore, the UVP Low voltage warning will appear.
    3. We also test the charging dock with some of our 9V/3A chargers (who also do not support 12V), and the testing results are also the same. So it seems that the charging dock's charging ability at 9V=3A has some unknown problems. Regarding this point, maybe you can also try some 9V/3A chargers (that do not support 12V) to see whether you can get the same results as ours, or you can also have a further discussion with DJ later.
    4. We find that the charging dock's charging ability at 12V performs well. When it is charged with a 12V charger or power bank, there will be no charging issues. Therefore, our engineer will improve our power bank and add the charging ability at 12V in the near future, which should help to be better compatible with the DJI Mini 3 Pro."

      12V is not one of the standard USB-PD voltages, so it's too bad DJI designed a device to rely on that.

    UPDATE 11/08/22: Since posting there’s been a couple of times now when I’ve been using it to recharge my Mini 3 Pro batteries in the dock and I’ve had an error on the 737 saying: “Low voltage is detected and protection is activated”.
    The 737 will then stop charging the drone batteries. Not sure what’s going on as sometimes it charges them fine - but currently it’s unreliable and could stop without you realising if you’re not watching it.
    I’ve contacted Anker Support to find out what’s going on, and they’ve passing it on to their engineers.
    So for anyone looking for something to recharge their Mini 3 batteries - this might not be an option! I’ll post another update when I get a response. Not having any issues when charging any other devices! ✌🏻

  • @jamarforsythe7262

    You should check if the 140W works even when a dormant cable is attached to another port.
    Some chargers with multiple ports will still limit the change in one port if the other port is occupied with a cable, even if it isn't plugged into anything.

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  2 роки тому +28

      This is a great point! I just checked while charging my MacBook Pro and yes, having a dormant cable attached does prevent 140W charging. But you can immediately see this happening on the wattage display. The dormant cable shows as pulling 0.1W and the MacBook dropped down to 95W. Once removed it jumped back up. So remember to unplug those dormant cables!

    Being a bit too square, it's defo not a pocket battery.
    Would make a perfect fit for a handbag (man-bag for the men out there) when paired with a half-decent 10" laptop or smaller (One of the GPD-Win devices of decent spec of course).
    I currently have a 10Ah brick that's 25W output and actually measures at 10Ah as specced, that fits flatly in my fairly slim bag with room for a phone above, so wireless charging on the go is possible.
    Some of the more typical bags would hold this battery easily and a camera bag should have enough room if some lenses are left behind.

      @dedr4m 2 роки тому

      @@marteumar8429 There's only some stylization differences, like, typically "intended for female use" handbags include shiny leather and can often be more rectangular from back to forward (So wider than it is tall),
      versus,
      the "intended for male use" that has the rectangular form in height (so taller than it is wide) and usually matted materials (like jeans or weaved or even that rope-like fabrics).
      "intended for" is essentially who it's advertised for rather than who'd actually use it.
      Also, as for the "insecurity" jab, sound's like projection...
      Almost no-one (except clearly you) is insecure about who a manufacturer advertises their products to.
      Not many people these days are insecure about buying or using something that was intended for another audience (i.e. very few male-bodied, aka spermatozoid persons, get paranoid over being accused of "behaving like a woman" over having a bag that goes over one shoulder to have everything at hand....), I'd use both types of handbag as long as it can take my Lenovo yb1-x91f laptop ...
      it's like saying people who buy a Nissan are just insecure about Fords.... makes zero sense.

    Best deal for a PowerBank imo is the evatronic (I think that was RavPower before they got banned from Amazon lol) 20000mah one. Good batteries, really light for 20000mah, 60w pd out which is plenty. Only 30w in though. But for just 40€.
    If you don't need a overkill battery like the Anker that's a good choice. I also like overkill batteries though. Already got a 27000mah 240w 4 usb-c ports one from Hyper. Really like the pass through and 100w 1h charging. Such a tank though, big and heavy like the anker.
    Overall the evatronic is a much better deal. Not much less capacity, a lot lighter, a fraction of the cost. Only downside just one pd port and slower charging. But 3h charging is already much better than some others.

      @JCKRGB  2 роки тому +1

      Not a dumb question! Milliamp Hours (mAh) can be kinda misleading as they don’t take Voltage into account, and Voltage affects the amount of power a battery can deliver.
      Looking at Watt Hours (Wh) you can compare different batteries regardless of Voltage. A 16” MBP is 99.6Wh, the 737 battery is 84.6Wh. But! Even with wired charging there is energy lost through heat, particularly at faster charging speeds, so it isn’t 100% efficient.
      But yeah, it can be confusing! I blame the battery manufacturers for putting a big focus on mAh in their product names and hiding the Wh away in the spec sheet 😄 I try to mention both in my videos somewhere! Hope I explained it well, thanks for watching Raymond! ✌🏻

    Can I use this with my Dell XPS 15 9560? Everytime I try to export images in Lightroom on battery it literally drains in minutes, it's impractical so I wonder If I can use this in moments, when I can't use power outlet.

    Can you travel on a plane with this?

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  2 роки тому +1

      Yes - it’s flight safe! Most airlines allow up to 100Wh batteries on planes. The 737 is 84.6Wh so under the limit. You'll need to have it in your carry on luggage too, not in your checked bag. But double check what your Airline says before flying! Thanks for watching Samuel! ✌🏻

    Hi Jack!😁 Slick vid, balanced review, convincing mix of company and Jack footage. I get by w/o a portable power bank, but would consider this brand device - name reputation. Screen a plus, w/negatives on brightness. Ah, the Wattage meter makes another cameo - nice. Agree, falling drones can ruin your day.😁
    Device really needs a wireless platform as well as ports, IMO. Yes, but can it charge a Tesla??😁 Cheers!

      Thanks Paul! Trusty wattage meter 👍🏻 Might need a few hundred or so for a Tesla haha

    Thank you for your video! I was wondering though how many watts the cable it comes with, supports. I tried to charge two avata batteries with a 65w charger cable and i got a low voltage indication on screen, prompting me to stop charging.

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  2 роки тому

      The cable supports 120W. I’ve sometimes had that error when charging my Mini 3 Pro batteries in the dock. It’s because DJI doesn’t properly follow the power delivery spec with their devices, I’m guessing the same is true with the Avata. Check my pinned comment for all the details and a response from Anker! ✌🏻

    Can your charge this up with 2 x 65watt wall changers?
    Making a total of 130watt?
    I already have an older power bank from Anker with two micro USB inputs. To charge faster 🙂

    When will it support 12volt 3amp Is it just a firmware update or will it be different hardware I will buy one immediately as soon as it supports 12v3a

    • @JCKRGB
      @JCKRGB  2 роки тому

      All they said in their response was it will be added in the "near future". I did then ask how it would be added but Anker Support couldn't answer. I think it might need a slight hardware revision. I'd suggest holding off for now if you need 12V 3A. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻
