I imagine this is how it would be to have Jack Black as drum teacher
More like having Mike Myers as drum teacher
You break down John Bonhams licks and tricks so well your teachings are on point.
Thank you OLJ!
I come to these videos for 40% drums/zeppelin 60% terry. I wish you vloged more stuff. I Wana see you out of this shed man! Show us the fam? A day in the life? A day on the road? That would be awesome

Thanks Dan-stay well and keep drumming!
Love this guy !!! Terry is a Cool Crazy Teacher...and most of all a big Bonham fan !!!
Good teacher and lesson. More than just technicals.
Great instruction and you are lots of fun as well.
Most excellent teaching techniques 👍🏻 - seriously makes me want to take up learning drumming. I’m a tapper, but most excellent air drummer!
Another great one Terry! This is so cool. Thanks!
Great teacher! I love the way you simplify, have fun and humor with the lesson most especially(I get your language man! Especially about drummer a.d.h.d.!
I totally agree!!) It sounds great and you are very inspiring. I want myself to progress further with my chops, especially with Bonham! Thanks man and I have subscribed to your channel!
You are a blast to watch and listen to. I am a 64 y.o. and Bonham has been in my arsenal for decades, now. I like your approach to instructing his complex works, thx.
Thank you, DBA!
I love you guy . You're so instructive and funny as well.
Loved the slow motion.
Great lesson!
I love this guy, very helpful ,THANK YOU
You are my HERO!! Amazing clarity in what you're teaching. And the kit sounds amazing.
Thanks Kevin!
OMG! You are awesome bro! I could watch you all day! So fun to watch and mad skills! Much respect.
You are the BEST dude!!
bonzoleum you are the man!
Developing muscle memory through repetition. That's one of the biggest keys to learning the drums. I'm pretty sure I would benefit from taking lessons from you. You know your shit man.
good way to explain
This is teaching at its best.
Once again, awesome breakdown of the pattern, like always.Good to see a guy who not only can play, but who actually gets all the nuances and feel/groove of what Bonham is doing,Where it's coming from, and where it's going and why,Cheers again
Thank you very much Ramsay!
Love your style man. Great video.
You make drumming great for my
great Terry very cool stuff lately . drums sound incredible as usual !
I can't make my trips sound as good as yours. It's easy for me to do quads but ur info is really helping my drumming it's all I got to keep me sain. Lol I truly love the drums and ur videos keep rocking tk
Takes a bit for beats to get through my thick skull but once they're in there they're stuck in there for good:)...thx for the explanations on these Bonham beats!
man, i really got a good laugh out of this video as well as getting good drumming tips, great job you make learning a blast , keep up the good work, just subscribed . Thanks man!!!
Thank you sincerely, H!
I appreciate the “Grasshopper”.
I got so frustrated at my current speed block I stopped doing anything (including stopping NOT drinking) for 3 and half days.
I got over my butt rash now.
Though I did discover that the best way to get past a speed block is to put the recording on and make yourself play with it at full speed from beginning to end wether you can do it or not. Works every time it’s tried. Thats how I started playing drums in the first place, throw yourself right into the fire, figure it out later.
My shirt has got a ton of compliments. I love mine. 👌🤘👍
Great video Terry!
"Mentality of freakishness" and "Don't have a butt rash" are two expressions I've now adapted. LOL! Seriously, thanks for this lesson, the kit sounds GREAT! Your encouragement and energy make these lessons priceless!
For us non-players who are Bonzo fans, this is nirvana.
Such a bad ass channel. Thanks Terry !!
Amazing and useful!)
Blap biddlo-blap biddlo-blap! That’s my weird way of sounding things out. Love your explanations of sounds. Have been a monster Zeppelin fan since ‘86. Since I was 12.
Nice one Terry!
Been trying to learn the drums for the last 10 months or so. Had a good time watching your video because you're very good AND funny (in a good way) and the explanations are clear. So, 'thank you' might be a good conclusion.
The best way to learn is put your favorite music on with headphones and play along. Visualization helps too when you're just listening.
Or just watch this guy😁
Found my new favorite teacher lol
Thank you Terry
Thank you, Scott-glad to have you onboard!
Awesome!
Great Vid Terry (again).
Another great video. You just opened my brain to the fact that one could combine different "Bonzo Stickings" and come up with a sort of cadence (you started to do it). Very cool thing to pull out of your bee-hynie during a drum solo on gig night. Never thought about that....HOWEVER...the reason why I'm posting (beside a hearty congrats to my friend for posting another stellar video) is that "The Piano Song" you mentioned is called "Heart and Soul" (the cool version is on the American Graffiti soundtrack -b =D ).
real great
Thank you
Proof in the pudding to be a great drummmer you don’t need a lot of drums love ya man
Not a drummer, but just to see as clearly as hilariously explained what and how Bonzo did it made me suscribe to keep watching ur vids. BTW, your punch and tone sounds just like him without any effects....it's all in the wrist baby ! :)
Awesome video! Snare sounds killer.
Thanks Supra!
New to your channel. Liked and subscribed. Youre a great teacher and very entertaining as well. Nicely done Sir.
Thank you D.D.!
Videos just keep getting better! I'm getting it! great teaching.
Thank u helps a lot
Heart and soul
You get the idea of what John Bonham does in songs like Moby Dick and Rock and Roll. Great video. Have a Happy New Year.
A Bloody Mad Hatter Genius!
Men I've been watch a lot of your UA-cam lesson. I like the way you demonstrate and you're so funny haha😊😀😁
You're a fantastic drummer, as close to Bonham's sound as I've heard.
Are you deaf?
Sounds like a cowbell at 13:49
new sub. dig it.
Cool Video --
Thanks!

I’ve heard many bootlegs (Led Zeppelin) and that pattern is not only present on “Rock & Roll” but also at the end of some “Dazed and Confused” from 1973.
Hi Jaime-I actually meant to say DAZED AND CONFUSED when we were making the video.
Great drum teacher so funny
Hey man,
I have been watching your videos for a while, and have been a subscriber for several months as well. Love your videos, dude. Your personality and passion for Bonham and Led Zeppelin really makes your drum instruction fun to watch. I have a question not really related to drumming, per se. What exact model and brand of headphones do you wear? My current headphones are simply not working for me. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!
Hi Sean-thank you! The headphones are Extreme Isolation EX-29 model. They’re not bad. I’d like something a little better, though.
Carmine Appice did a lot of this stuff and put it down on paper as it were. My drum teacher got me a couple of his books on fills and double bass stuff. You can go back to Max Roach too. Louie Belson too.
You’re the best Terry
Thanks BC!
I love this channel. your crazy . Great teacher . Don’t stop. Steve drums😎✌️
I would like a 1 hour lesson with YOU!♫♫♪♪‼
Terry , love your channel. Question; you mentioned in a previous video which I don’t remember which one it was about a book for triplets around the drum set. Can you give me the name of the book? Thanks
Learn by having fun. Thank you! : )
I’m trying to practice this drum technique because in this part have a difficulty to little bit
Love the lesson. What exactly are you doing at 8:23?
U are wacked, or a drummer. Subscribed after 25 seconds
Carl Palmer did this with ELP on one of the albums (but I don't remember which record). Carl also used the hi hat in the place of the FT. Bohnam's version sounds better.
Terry, your methods, teaching and wit are a Godsend!!....I'm ordering one of those shirts!!...keep doing what you're doing!!!!!!
p.s. Why would anyone give this video a thumbs down?.......stupid people.
For what ever reason, this brought to mind 5% nothing by YES.
"What the hell are you doing" Terry? "So many permutations" (at 9min 25)....making us laugh, classic comedy!
I like doing LRfRL LRfRl instead of the LRfRLfLRfRLf. It sound like the Bonham-y L LRf L LRf but more busy.
Hopefully you get what im saying with the letter notation
I understand! It's a good one! Putting two fs in there between the LRs is neat too-though less Bonhamy.
I want to learn that
Gotta luv terry
Thank you, NVW!
Hi Terry, how do you record this video. Great picture and great sound
Hi Sez! I simply used my iPhone 6. They key to the sound is the over the shoulder location!
Man, I would like to plunder your garage and steal all those vintage drums, snares, pedals and cymbals.. ;-)
👍👍👍
Imagine if Bonham used a double kick setup. Holy shit the patterns he could have came up with.
Hey man I love your material and your enthusiastic approach to the Rock Drumming God who is John Bonham. I however would like your help and advice as I am looking to make a minute to 2 minute drum video of me playing against a track and would like your advice on how to get the right levels to record a decent sounding drum track. Thanks Matt
Matt-I would get a board and feed the music and your microphone into that, and then feed that to your camera.
bonzoleum cheers man if I need some more advice can I ask you man?
Are you Jack Black playing drums ? :D
Very nice lesson, thank you !!!
Well that was fun. Great lesson but your digs make me a little claustrophobic.
#TerryRocks
Love the videos Terry! I've a quick question to ask you on this one. I've been practising this for weeks now, steadily cranking up the bpm so I'm at about 135 bpm now, but it's still sounding a bit pedestrian. What speed (bpm) do I need to aim for in order for the pattern to sound 'rockin'? Thanks in advance and keep up the posts!
I just commented on this subject, practice it slow till you figure it out, then put on the album version and play with it all the way through at full speed even if you F it up. Go back and forth, just force yourself to do it.
I just did this with the immagrant song, what’s fascinating is I cant do it at more than half speed with a metronome, but when the whole band is playing at full speed Im right on it, I don’t understand why but it works. Its a mystery wrapped in a riddle.
I just had another interesting thought, Ive been fooling around with guitar in my spare time, learning sequences and obsure chord changes, I feel like Im basically getting nowhere so Im gonna try the same technique, figure it out and play with the album track. It’s good to work on rudiments and scales but you’re not gonna get anywhere till you throw your shit out there with other musicians.
“Balance Grasshopper” 🧘♂️
@@floydsmithjr7999 Thanks for the tip - I'll give that a go!
@@TheGCphoto I tried it with guitar, it works. It forces you to play up to speed and its fun play’n with the greats
How do I order one of those shirts in black?
Hi Manuel-shoot me an email at bonzoleum at gmail dot com.
came for the drum lesson, stayed for the comedy
Thank you CS!
Funniest drum teacher EVER !!!
Go to 6:29 to see his hilarious fake slow motion act.
Also 10:25 to see his crazy beat vocalization.
Thank you, CE!
Celso Escobar ,
🤔😃👍
Keith Moon is my hero
"dont hava but rash" thatz funny:)
ohhhhhh... I see. It's Bon-ZO-le-um. I've been mentally pronouncing it Bon-zo-LE-um which made it sound a lot like Mausoleum which is kind of creepy. I like it a lot more now
Thanks Mike-that's a problem I do have with the name sometimes.
Hey there Terry. I bet you know I was basically kidding altho I actually was indeed mentally mispronouncing it ;) Love your channel and love Bonzo. IIRC there was another riff you explained (as an aside in a long vid) that was similar to this one that I also liked. It has a more of an arpeggio structure. It went: snare... floor tom...bass; bass... floor tom... snare. So just three notes descending and then the same notes ascending. Same note values anyway... there's always room for variation. Back when I was a real drummer I used to use quintuplets w/ a sort of dotted note in the end solo of Rock & Roll. It was probably wrong but six quintuplets works out to 5 sextuplets right?
mausoleum sounds more important...the other way sound like Linoleum, which is a floor covering i hate
