I always thought Narjius (sorry for misspelling) was trying to hunt down patches, forcing patches to be stuck in that cave since his last game appearance. Also didn't know he was first in Armed Core 4, very kool tidbit.
This was a nice run. Personally, I'm looking forward to a Moongrum run since all of his gear is easily aquirable and honestly quite good. Anyway, keep up the good work! P.S. If you ever do a Shield Run, you should definitely try using the Visage Shield.
If you wanted a real deep cut, you could've gotten the Icon shield, which is the same shield Patches has in Demon's Holes. Not kidding, you can see the regen effect on him in the remake and everything.
Actually: 1. I stopped because Bushy did them all in an 18 minute video (that's really good) so it felt worn out. 2. Secret starting class videos then POPPED off in a way the normal starting classes didn't. 3. Wretch would have been better than Bandit actually
I always love seeing Tulok sass backseaters in these videos, but holy crow you are on POINT today, hah. Great run also, I really love these secret starting classes!
Weirdly enough, NPC Patches doesn't actually use impaling thrust in combat, he uses kick. Then again, he's not the only example of ashes being inconsistent between the user and their dropped gear. Moongrum uses Carian Retaliation for instance, but when you kill him, his shield has no skill equipped by default.
I'm shocked he didn't pick "no skill" for Bernahl. For my PAtches run, I put hoarfrost stomp on the spear so I get nice distance from my enemies and the frost acts like bleed damage.
As a designated shield enjoyer your read on shields is kinda right. Elden Ring is very feast or famine on shields. Guard counters are an amazing way to get plenty of stance damage, the shield ashes of war are all pretty good, and its relatively easy to find ways to get super hefty amounts of guard boost including up to 100% guard boost! But bosses are chip damage, super comboing, stamina ruining monsters that make shields dead weight. Definitely more fun than they were for general play than the previous games but woefully underpowered for anything that puts a health bar at the bottom of the screen.
I always had fun imagining if you could 'choose a side' as it were in Elden Ring - instead of becoming Elden Lord yourself, follow another's orders, like in the Ranni ending. There could be a once-per-playthrough option when you arrive at a boss to submit instead of fighting, and you essentially skip that fight and get a bonus item or ability to represent your new master. Then, the ending is different depending on who you chose. There would be quite a few fun options among the larger bosses, like Rykard and Morgott, but I imagine there would also be plenty of people putting Patches on the throne.
Yeah, the spear is fine. It's great early game for pairing with Flames of the Redmane to get an early Golden Scarab (even without the stance pressure, the enhancement just makes the flames go fwoosh) but otherwise... it is definitely one of the weapons in Elden Ring.
Patches is far older than AC4, he's also an AC pilot in AC3 that betrays you in a mission, after helping you now and then in a few big ones, half way through one he turns on you. He might be even older than that, but my memory of the games prior to 3, which I've recently replayed, is a bit fuzzy
His first game as patches is in King's Field, but he has an appearance as Patch in ac2, piloting No Count (Based on the joke, if I leave, it Doesn't Count). He has an even older prototype appearance in an older game where he goes unnamed, but he boobytraps empty chests, and destroys bridges under your feet.
I swear u get funnier every video. I literally laughed out loud at nearly every punch line. You literally had me sitting here talking to myself and repeating ur jokes. Also I think I watched that patches pin-grove shuffle like 8 times In a row
I usually don't ask for runs and stuff, but all of this talk of Splatoon is actually perfect timing, as I've been thinking of a Splatoon run for a while! Basically, you use whatever you can use that you can justify as being from Splatoon. Here's some of my ideas, but if you have anything you'd like to add, that would be awesome: Main Weapon would be the Prelate's Inferno Crozier. It would be like the Dynamo Roller, with very big damage while being very slow. Also, the Prelate's Inferno Charge skill is just like rolling over opponents in Splatoon. I know the Ultra Hammer exists, but since the skill is much more like a roller, I'm just going to say it's a roller. You can't throw the Crozier anyways, no matter how cool that would be. Then you could use the Gelmir Glintstone Staff with all of the magma sorceries. - Magma Shot would be the Burst Bomb - Roiling Magma would be the Rainmaker shot - Gelmir's Fury would be the Super Chump (maybe?) - Rykard's Rancor would be the Fizzy Bomb, since it explodes multiple times (It has a 40 INT requirement though, so maybe not) Finally, you could use a seal. I'd suggest the Clawmark seal, since you need 45 strength for the Crozier, but if you want to mess with your stats even more, you could use the Dragon Communion Seal to boost the Magma Wyrm sorceries. - Magma Shot would be like a Blaster shot, and Theodorix's Magma would upgrade that to a Trizooka (I know that no Blasters have Trizooka right now, but this is all nebulous anyways) - Bloodboon could just be any kind of thing, I was thinking a Big Swig Roller swipe due to how much it covers the ground (As well as its lack of killing potential). - Frenzied Burst is the Angle Shooter sub - Howl of Shabriri would be the Killer Wail. You don't have to use it, on account of the defense debuff, but I will be when I play it because Inklings/Octolings seem to be pretty frail anyways. Other buffs are allowed, cause you could just justify them as Ink Armor for defense and Tacticooler for offense, but that's all up to personal preference. Oh, and for Spirit Summons you can either use the Man-Serpent again for that lava ink, or there's the Jellyfish, which is pretty self-explanatory. (Land-Squirt Ashes would also work, but those suck so probably just don't) This doesn't even include any consumables, like pots, perfumes, and the like, but I think quite a lot of them could actually work in a build like this. (My main thought is the Volcano Pot as the Toxic Mist sub, though Poison or Acid Spraymist could work for that too) If I have any further interesting ideas, I'll just edit them in, but that's it for now. If anybody else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!
It somehow took me until now to realize you're quietly one of my favorite content creators. I find myself looking forward to every one of your videos. This had so many great moments
tulok every other run: softcaps are a point of diminishing return so you shouldn't invest tulok this run: softcaps are a point of diminishing return so you shouldn't invest but also I'm still using the great shield talisman because shield very fun run :>
Did you know that if you actually run towards Radahn instead of away from him, there is this really cool sequence where he shoots more arrows and even has them rain from the sky???? Not a lot of people know that.
Always a delight, I'm always looking out for your recurring jokes and the one random political idea! Starting class suggestion - Eleonora/ Drake Knight! Eleonora's poleblade, dragon communion seal, Agheel's breath and Greyoll's roar. Will have to kill Eleonora at low level, but I'm sure you can find a way...
I always use Gravitas when farming the Calid birds. You can hit all 3 consistently and it's very quick. Also I just realized on my most recent run that there's a spirit spring north of the walking mausoleum outside of Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. It lets you skip the academy key and ruin strewn precipice entirely. Not sure if this is a repeat or even useful but there you go.
The spirit spring is good but you can actually kill 2 birds with one stone by carefully jumping up the rocks at the shrouding physick avatar to the frenzied village grace. There's also a path up in the ravine that gets to Bellum highway that is also reachable from Caria manor. The interconnections are insane
It's wild when you just get low-percentage-drop items on your casual play through. I just had that shield in my inventory and didn't remember picking it up. No idea that it was such a small chance to drop haha. Didn't even remember that those guys were what dropped it haha.
Here's a suggestions for your next phrase to Google on your work computer: Come over to my Stormveil Castle and use your Impaling Thrust in my Lands Between 😁
So the acid spraymist is a pretty neat effect on strong enemies that would give another tool to this theme, but I have no idea why they did That with the formic rock requirement.
I miss 1.0 Turtle Shield for the stamina regen + Barricade meant you could actually use it against bosses. Granted, I think it didn't have 100% Phys (maye 95?) and they gave it that after the nerf, but it was very much worth it, and the dew talisman offset it anyway
Since you tear into shields so much, you should try the Fingerprint Shield... It actually lets you feel like it's worthwhile to lug around a 29lb rock...
I probably should try to make a Patches char, just for the lols, but I feel that the lack of a escape tactic to flee from Radahn compromise the fidelity of this one. But thankfully new patch also means that we can kick people off a cliff more reliably so that is a plus.
If you have a greatshield I wouldn't block an entire combo from a boss, yeah. There's something to say in dodging most of a boss' combo then intentionally blocking the last bit, though. That way you can get in a guard counter as they're recovering for basically free, which is one of the best attack types for stance damage.
If you have a good shield with the correct talisman and enough endurance they can be really reliable but that’s in like ng+ 3 or 4 when you have all those extra levels/equipment to make the shields better
Honestly whenever I rune lv 1 person needs help I come on to the scene with my lv 329 and I can’t tank Godfrey and radagon and all his combos it’s awesome with my big ass shield
Greatshields can actually be super powerful against bosses, you just need something to let you hold it forever. I beat Godfrey without dying on my first ever attempt, and a massive part of it is that the build had 60 endurance and a fully upgraded fingerprint greatshield (along with a spear allowing me to shieldpoke), meaning I only had to really dodge the grabs. This was in march of this year. For context, Greatshield Talisman being nerfed on higher block shields was in April of last year, and the nerf to Fingerprint's guard strength, along with the nerfs to the effect of other shield boosts like Scholar's shield on high guard shields, was in October of last year. So even post-nerfs, Godfrey is able to be effectively trivialized by greatshield usage.
Thing I have learned from watching this and the twitch stream: Patches likes to thrust and greatshields are good for overworld and dungeons but not bosses.
I did a tower shield run with guard boost buffs and the naginata spear on frost still keeps it’s bleed too. Easiest run I’ve done. Get scholars shield spell and the Demi human staff first thing and you can just tank boss hits for barely any stamina loss up til fingerprint shield. Then you can block anything for no stamina loss.
If U build for shields. and that doesnt mean only shields but like use a weapon that corresponds well with them or sth then they are amzibg against bosses
"Nobody likes to commit crimes." Billionaires: This is true. It's why I buy politicians to make it legal for me to use children in factories and dump toxic waste into the water. If I didn't do that I would've had to pay dozens of dollars in fines! Think about all those lost profits!
i think i mentioned this in an earlier video but... i've heard that if you lure Radon near the water, you can trick him into landing IN the water and drowning, after he does his Meteor attack.
you can actually farm bird feet pretty easily if you beat the knight in the dark room on the hidden path into the castle. go up and up to the roof, go to the area with a fallen stone thing, allowing you to climb to a different area. from here, you can snipe the explosive barrels near the gank squads ballista-blocking your penetration efforts, but in the area with a 4-man gank, there should be a pillar in the middle with ladders up it. climb to find a **whole BUNCH** of birds nesting. some will fly away, but that's ok. war crime the next pillar and jump over, looting the corpses. quit-out and hopefully the birds that flew away will return. kill them and teabag their drops. chicken out back to the nearest bonfire, which should be above a coked-out berenike knight that's guarding the dark room with a coked-out berenike knight.
I‘d love it so much if From Soft really made an Elden Ring RTS. It could be like SpellForce or Rise & Fall and make it possible to join the fights in third person. If anyone could breathe new life into a genre that‘s held together with remakes of games from the 90s and (kind of) MOBAs, it’s From.
I can't help but to wonder, for a future Elden Ring video: Would a Larxene build use dual daggers and lightning for the same weapon type, or a claw weapon and lightning due to how she actually uses her daggers?
From Software just needs to add the perfect block that the reforged mod has. No stamina drain if you block perfectly and a small damage boost with a counter.
I use the shield bash it has parry like frames it’s also an attack that blocks all the damage your shield would normally Edit it works great against bleed whips in pvp

From Software just needs to add the perfect block that the reforged mod has. No stamina drain if you block perfectly and a small damage boost with a counter.
Storm the gates 🎶 I love Jack black.
I use the shield bash it has parry like frames it’s also an attack that blocks all the damage your shield would normally
Edit it works great against bleed whips in pvp
