Honestly the best part about having no difficulty options is the shared experience among all players. once you add sliders some bosses become a cake walk and no one really has one shared experience with the game like Souls players have. Its almost like a college degree when you beat a souls game because you know you went through the exact same struggle as everyone else and came out on top.

Its been my opinion that there have always been difficulty settings in souls games. Its just depends on your build, approach, and how much cheese you pour on the bosses. Some call it balance issues, I call it difficulty. The best part of these games, is that every build feels fun. It's literally only one or two sustained notes, and there really isn't much going on, but the creepy atmosphere really adds to the tension, especially with the invisible assassins around. Part of the appeal of these games is sharing the misery. Playing through it, then recommending it to your friends and smiling as you watch them enjoy the same struggle.
I just have to hard disagree about the ambience music. Other from soft games to compare too, this is by far the best. Do you enjoy the other games music/ambience? I mean it’s bone chilling good. And the effort put into it here is outstanding considering how much longer we’re in these areas.
You mentioned having the issue with a skeleton aggroing because your movement wasn’t silent, and someone in chat mentioned Soft Cotton consumable. There’s also the Assassin’s Approach incantation, Black Knife Assassin’s Unaltered Chestpiece, and Crepus’ Vial talisman that give that same effect.
About the ambiance - they have a specific goal in mind with ambiance. Like, they do have it, it's just only in specific places. Majula has the calming music, Firelink Shrine has the sad, almost depressing music, bosses have their epic music, but exploration doesn't always need ambiance, especially if you have other sounds, like enemies and such. Bloodborne is a perfect example. I don't think ominous strings or some low bassy humming wouldn't add much, if at all, to the atmosphere. Especially since most of the times music is reliant on timing to really enhance the feeling, and if you mistime it, then it falls a little flat.
The Black Knife Assassin chest piece makes your walking sounds basically go away. Paired with unseen form you'd be hard to notice by enemies you don't want noticing you. 21:34
I was going to argue about the music thing, but then when you clarified ambient music and I tried to remember what the ambient music in Elden Ring sounds like, immediately remembered the ambient music from Dragon Age Inquisition 🫣😂 whose ambient music is top tier. So I agree on that front. I think the ambient music in Elden Ring is good but not great, especially given how memorable and iconic some of the boss music is.
@@GM-xk1nwSomeone obviously hasnt played skyrim. Most of the ambience isnt epic. But holy shit is it beautiful. Look i love Elden ring, but it excels in boss music. The ambience is pretty forgettable for the most part.
This weapons is insane, especially if combined with Fire Deadly Sin and Old Lord Talisman. It allows you to continiousley reapply frost. I kill Malenia phase 1 with this strat in less then 30 seconds.
Just want to add. Usually the reason for difficulty sliders is so people can enjoy the story without worrying about having to actually be good at the game. This game doesn't really have a story, or atleast one thats easy to follow, so there not much need for sliders. Unless someone just wanted to run through the game to see the visuals, which is easily done on YT
I have played ER a lot and only really remember 3 bits of music in the game (aside from ambience); Main Menu theme, Radagon Theme, and Godskins. Just doesn't have the punch I got from DS and some of BB's themes.
just play Elden Ring Reforged. It comes with alot of different difficulty settings to mix and match and is insanely hard on maxed difficulty. Enemy AI is relentless and hyper aggressive not giving you any pauses in combat, stealth is heavily nerfed, enemies regen health after not hitting them for a while, poise damage is reduced and you can't backstab in fight. Upgrade materials were also shuffled around, so you can't cheese early upgrades and need to actually progress to get high materials.
I've been doing a frost build run due to stumbling on this gem of a weapon. I have only the minimum str/dex requirements, but high int will not only make the ash OP, it also applies crazy frost buildup.
I'll still fight to the death that ds2 (softs), is better than people think. Is it the best fromsoft game? No, not by a longshot. But I think it has more redeeming factors that people just overlook because ds2 just has the overwhelming negative stigma. Also with a difficulty slider, I think that all fromsoft games have meaningful ways to reduce difficulty, like upgrading the weapon grabbing souls for levels or summoning in help. Elden ring is the biggest example of this where it's so easy to collect runes and new equipment upgrade your weapon and with the addition of spirit ashes you no longer rely on having to complete specific questlines to get help with a boss. But if there was a difficulty slider for these games it wouldn't be that big of a deal, NG+ especially in elden ring is entirely just a difficulty slider for players who want more challenge, and even with elden ring's ease there are still many new players who are immediately off put by the sharp difficulty that they may not be used to and a difficulty slider isn't going to ruin a game.
5:58 Finally someone said it. That was what bothered me the most. The music is “good” but nothing really stands out maybe other than the Godskin Duo. DS3 and Bloodborne had amazing music. Stuff that would make you stop and be like, damn this shit is amazing.
I'm also a guy that always plays the non-difficult (usually default) mode in most games, and I definitely look up things a lot, but for Elden Ring I was pretty tame on searching stuff up
I guess Elden Ring really hit that feeling where you're the one who decides who you're gonna be, as the other games were more linear, you really feel like yourself in this one, which makes searching things up lose your immersion a bit
The Death's Poker is in my mage's loadout and I love the weapon. For PVP, I'm not really good at using it because I have low STR and HIGH INT so it's just the WA that does good damage (it scales purely with INT) while the r1/r2 are pathetic, however for coop and solo play it's great against large enemies. The Ulcerated Tree Spirits and Erdtree Avatars turn into trash mobs, I can literally beat the latter in sub 10 secs just hitting the WA two times (R1 version) and I mean the late game mountaintops version that splits in half as well as the frost one in the forbidden lands.
Currently riding around the consecrated snowfield while listening to Secunda. I very much agree with your complaints with the ambient music. I'm so tired of listening to that one horn playing that one dragged out note.
you are hands down my favorite elden ring content creator , so glad to see you using my favorite weapon, not just bc of the op aow, it just looks cool, great swords being my favorite class of weapon it’s definitely in my top 3 in the entire game.
Elden ring was my first souls game and I think the OSTs are great but maybe it’s just because I haven’t played the other games and don’t have a base to go off of.
I like every game to have customization. I think ARK: Survival Evolved is a mid game, but on thing I love about it is that I can change so many sliders about various options in the game, or I can just leave it default. I wish every game had an "advanced options" tab or something, with a ton of sliders and radial options that controlled tons of aspects of the game. ARK's was filled with a lot of similar options, so it looks like more than it is, but it is still awesome. This is my way of saying that, yes, I think this game should have a difficulty option. That said, it is up to the devs what they think fits their game best.
I think a factor in this discussion that I never see brought up despite how important it is is that Elden Ring and the Dark Souls games before it have this pseudo-multiplayer thing going on. A game that's explicitly always online like WoW or that's explicitly competitive like League of Legends or Hearthstone doesn't have difficulty options for pretty obvious reasons; competitive games should be fair and balanced for each player and in MMOs you occupy the same world with the same NPCs. Dark Souls is sort of mmo like with how other players can enter your world at basically any time, as co-operators or as invaders. This multiplayer factor makes the question of "how would we implement difficulty options" more difficult than just "add an easy mode." After all, if you invade someone's world, they will often have co-operators helping them, and to overcome this numbers disadvantage invaders will often try to use the level and its enemy NPCs against the host. But how does this work if you invade a host who's on easy mode? Do the enemies and traps in their world do less damage to the host, thus making it harder for the invader to use them against them? Does the invader themselves do less damage because of the host's difficulty setting? What if the invader is on easy difficulty? Do they do more damage? Have more health? This also affects co-operators - what if someone on easy mode wants to be summoned into other people's worlds? Do they just have to suck up the fact that they might be summoned into a hard mode world and struggle more than they like? Should easy mode players and hard mode players be kept entirely separate, when this divides the online community into smaller chunks and might lead to longer wait times, worse matchmaking, more latency, etc? This is not to say that there would be no way to find reasonable compromises to these problems and make a game like Elden Ring that has its weird multiplayer system while still offering difficulty and accessibility options. MMOs don't typically have difficulty options for their overworlds, but raids and other instanced content often do. Alternatively, you can take the simple but somewhat Draconian option of just excluding all easy mode players from engaging in those types of multiplayer, while still letting them make use of things like messages and bloodstains. But the point is, this persistent multiplayer nature of From Soft's games means that there are a lot more things to consider when designing accessibility or difficulty features, so it's more understandable that they wouldn't make the effort. I don't think this necessarily excuses them entirely, and games like Sekiro and Armored Core 6's singleplayer content don't even have this excuse. But I also don't think that every product should necessarily be made to please every consumer, sad as it is that some people may be unable to get the same satisfaction from these games for reasons out of their control. At least modding exists.
@@LuciferLuckless Modding exists, only on PC though. I see what you are saying though, it would add more complexity for multiplayer. Your comment is a much better response than the typical "Summons and spells are the easy mode"
In response to Difficulty Sliders, the way I see it is the developers have an intended experience for the game. As an example Doom Eternal's INTENDED, DEVELOPED, experience was the hardest difficulty. I believe if a developer doesn't add a difficulty setting it's because the game is already balanced around the intended experience.
Gino I have a challenge for you even harder then the god run if your looking for one since you’ve already made accomplishments no others can how about god run + all dlcs or god run all bosses then one step even further god run all dlcs plus all bosses 😈
Could you do a run with the tree spear. I mean lots of poise damage, buffable with bloodflame and i think pretty much slept on. Also a unique r2. Im thinking bout using it. Maybe u find time to use it.
The only reason for difficulty sliders imo is when there’s a concise story to follow. Fromsoft games hide so much story behind item descriptions and random, difficult to follow quests that for me the only reason I play them is for the challenge so a difficulty slider imo is pointless
Yeah but they arent trying to acheive the same things. And i quite honestly dont think Ng+ is a good idea for the elder scrolls games. There are no bosses to refight, and the games difficulty isnt a strong suit. Part of the reason i love the elder scrolls games is because after you beat the main story, the people in the world recognize your acheivements.
When Lies Of P first came out, I wouldn't have reccommended it. After a few months and being really focused on the patch notes, I can say that Round 8 seems super focused on fixing the issues with the game. Its definitely in a spot where I can reccommend the game.
The combat is fun and the map is cool, that’s really all there is here. The world is a neat world but every non legacy dungeon is the same filled with different colored versions of enemies you’ve already encountered who just ambush you to artificially inflate the challenge
‘The combat is fun and the map is cool’ so the games good? Like there are too many poorly designed parts but every non legacy dungeon isn’t true: I even think er is overrated
I love the addition of the checklists to these videos but can you please find a way for them to be on screen for longer. I find it really hard to read all of the text on the items and the checklists in time to understand what's happening. I know a lot about Elden Ring and I imagine that a newer player finding your channel will have an even harder time. Love the videos, keep up the good work, you legend
@@1-Osbn having to directly interact with the video to get the most out of it should never be the goal. In some moments, like picking stuff out of the background, that is a valid argument. But if it's specifically added to help the audience understand the premise of the video, the last thing you want is to give that same audience more work.
I find that most games adjust difficulty by simply increasing enemy health and damage. That way of artificially increasing difficulty doesn't make the game challenging in a fun way. On the flip side, if you decrease the hp and damage too much, then you can just one shot the boss or tank through all its attacks, defeating the purpose of the souls experience. Gideon is a good example - actually a really hard fight if you don't two shot him, but most people never even find out his attack patterns. Souls games are a curated experience. You don't get omakase and ask to substitute each dish. Also, NG+ is basically the difficulty slider most games have... it just only goes up.

that armor is in the Snowfields which means collecting the Secret medallions, it's a bit out of the way for a speedrun
Or Skyrim or oblivion those ambient soundtracks are amazing
It depends, i remember every single ambient music from every location in elden ring, my favorite is caelid
well, no, the music should represent the area not to be skyrim epic all the time
@@GM-xk1nwSomeone obviously hasnt played skyrim.
I mean if he actually raised the Ambient Volume up he might appreciate it. Elden Ring has really good OST for each area.
Man I love your runs, but you killing the jar warrior makes me sad EVERY time. 😢
That Deathbird one shot was kinda unexpected on my part
Just want to add. Usually the reason for difficulty sliders is so people can enjoy the story without worrying about having to actually be good at the game. This game doesn't really have a story, or atleast one thats easy to follow, so there not much need for sliders. Unless someone just wanted to run through the game to see the visuals, which is easily done on YT
I always search things up on my first playthrough. Just makes it more enjoyable.
when you think about it you even play through elden ring at its "easy mode" with these setup based runs
I have played ER a lot and only really remember 3 bits of music in the game (aside from ambience); Main Menu theme, Radagon Theme, and Godskins. Just doesn't have the punch I got from DS and some of BB's themes.
If you have a bad memory that's not a game problem
I have a difficulty slider idea, Hard -> Extreme -> Nightmare -> Elden Lord
just play Elden Ring Reforged.
I can tell you have a great career ahead waiting for you at ubisoft
Your wife's boyfriend holds your hand< normal < elden lord
I honestly didnt think you’d play SWTOR but that game is a classic
Looking at that list of upcoming runs, I'm really looking forward to that Dragon King's Cragblade run.
Have you every tried ds2 no bonfire no death level1?
I tried no bonfire adp only and 2 clubs
6:00 I disagree totally with difficulty sliders, but i totally agree on that one !
Got this sword after the Death Bird who drops it jumped me while exploring & it’s been in the Top3 of weapons i have rn in Elden Ring😮💨🖤
gino is so good at advertising that i actually watched the sponsor like i do nobody
i may try it, loved the damage
I used the Poker on a run and yeah, the AoW is very sick and helped me a lot at the Haligtree area.
This has been my favorite channel to watch grow in quality and content as well as in followers. Congrats on all the success and sponsors and such.
2 is definitely the best of the Dark Souls trilogy, imo.
You can collect 70k souls in ds2 without killing anything + mace/rapier that can be bought very early on
Love ds2
Monster Hunter World specifically is such a blast, I would highly recommend playing it
I have 2 greatswords that are my fav
Deaths poker
Ranni's sword (the weapon it gives you at the end of the questline)
5:58 Finally someone said it. That was what bothered me the most. The music is “good” but nothing really stands out maybe other than the Godskin Duo. DS3 and Bloodborne had amazing music. Stuff that would make you stop and be like, damn this shit is amazing.
I thought radagon and mohg tracks were pretty sick
Because of this man, I put skyrim music on in the background when I'm adventuring
This is my favorite weapon in the game, really happy you did this run to show why! 🤙
3:00 "Better version of handsome Squidward"
me: More like Ewan McGregor
I've become such a fiend for dragons dogma content that I saw it in your chat for a millisecond at 7:06
I think we need some fat roll no hit run😱😱
I'm also a guy that always plays the non-difficult (usually default) mode in most games, and I definitely look up things a lot, but for Elden Ring I was pretty tame on searching stuff up
I guess Elden Ring really hit that feeling where you're the one who decides who you're gonna be, as the other games were more linear, you really feel like yourself in this one, which makes searching things up lose your immersion a bit
Should give remnant 2 a go. Not as hard as dark souls but a not hit run or not death run would be a great challenge
I would love to see uncut runs
his second channel is in the "channels" section, all runs go up on there in full a few days after the main channel videos
@@HunterOnAir ooh tysm
Dude I watch your videos during state testing and just doing house hold chores
I remember reading it used to be even more overpowered. Then it was patched in one of the early versions.
They should have a difficulty slider so you can put it on easy , get all the best gear , then pwn in pvp.
18:57 I thought he said does chess count as a horror game, instead a board game 😂
Currently riding around the consecrated snowfield while listening to Secunda. I very much agree with your complaints with the ambient music. I'm so tired of listening to that one horn playing that one dragged out note.
Bro those small edits like the dog and the villager sound made the video even better
The ash really is crazy, especially with the lingering damage and frostbite
I absolutely love Morgott and Godfrey fights, funny that my two favorite fights share the same arena
It’s a good arena and that helps.
Would love to see a hammer only run all bosses
you are hands down my favorite elden ring content creator , so glad to see you using my favorite weapon, not just bc of the op aow, it just looks cool, great swords being my favorite class of weapon it’s definitely in my top 3 in the entire game.
For my first time playing I beat most of the bosses. But also I was putting all my stuff into everything so I didn't have a build.
Elden ring was my first souls game and I think the OSTs are great but maybe it’s just because I haven’t played the other games and don’t have a base to go off of.
He was talking about ambient music not boss music
Nah, their great. All the games have atleast a few great tracks.
@@МуродТанжихолов yeah I like the ambient music it’s fire.
100+ hours in and I just now find out the weapon art has secondary input features lol
Continuing to make the best content on YT
Gino I have a challenge for you even harder then the god run if your looking for one since you’ve already made accomplishments no others can how about god run + all dlcs or god run all bosses then one step even further god run all dlcs plus all bosses 😈
Could you do a run with the tree spear. I mean lots of poise damage, buffable with bloodflame and i think pretty much slept on. Also a unique r2. Im thinking bout using it. Maybe u find time to use it.
I got a feeling that this and the moonlight great sword is like top 3 builds
The only reason for difficulty sliders imo is when there’s a concise story to follow. Fromsoft games hide so much story behind item descriptions and random, difficult to follow quests that for me the only reason I play them is for the challenge so a difficulty slider imo is pointless
💯 I agree if elder scrolls added ng and updated combat I think it'd be hell lot better
I love this guys views on video games, SWTOR is one of the best
When Lies Of P first came out, I wouldn't have reccommended it. After a few months and being really focused on the patch notes, I can say that Round 8 seems super focused on fixing the issues with the game. Its definitely in a spot where I can reccommend the game.
surprised to hear you mention waframe, love that game!
jfc Gino is so based. The ambience music take is such a banger take and I 1000% agree.
we will see how "another crabs treasure" does as far as souls likes being well received. I think Its at least a refreshing take on the genre
Just pause it
@@1-Osbn having to directly interact with the video to get the most out of it should never be the goal.
