Thanks for making this video! Not only is it fucking phenomenal, but it's really elevated my opinion of greatshields and thrusting weapons in Elden Ring, which ended up being the strat that carried me through the final boss of the DLC. Couldn't have done it without you!
Being clever and being able to problem solve are different than tackling the architypical souls challenges. Like he showed you don't need much skill to easily kill Malenia, just careful planning. Trying to do this fight with like a typical medium load weapon based dex character for instance is a much different challenge and is much more of the typical souls expected challenge.

I’m new to your content, but really appreciate your pragmatism, patience, and delivery. I’m a ER noob with only 150hrs and benefit by many in the community, but your’s and FightinCowboy videos are both the most accessible and entertaining to me. I really think these minimum/restricted runs of your’s really help break my brain faster with ER regarding build, gear, leveling, and strategic approaches in the game. I hope that made sense😂-It’s just really easy as a new player in this game to become to myopic as you progress; watching your content like I said, allows me to ‘break my brain’ in such a way that I work in a more pliable mindset. I know it’s semantics to some for me to say pliable instead of flexible, but I’m sticking to the pliable route so that two things happen 1: I still stick to a play/interaction style that’s consistent with my current playthrough and 2: That little amount of adherence to that character without completely refitting for every obstacle will get my own problem solving skills/innovation going quicker for me. Much appreciated brother and you’ve genuinely earned a subscriber. I’m working though your catalog of content and look forward to what you do next. PS: Great editing and audio/music balancing in my opinion.
Annnnnnd yes, I’m aware this is 2 years old, but hey; I’m just now seeing this one and after watching as many as I have of yours these past few weeks, I figured I should drop you some feedback you can actually use 🫡
There's two reasons that the release of elden ring has made my life happier. The first reason is the game itself, and the second reason is the abundance of iron pineapple videos
With Radahn, if you walk backwards until he disappears then walk back, he won’t fire any projectiles and will just rush towards you (this includes spears).
I wish there was exactly one mimic in the game, somewhere really late like Leyndell or the Haligtree. You've gone dozens of hours without mimic chests and the only traps being transporters you can roll away from. You go to open a chest and BAM you got vored.
They must be saving it for DLC. Even better, if it doesn't chomp you it becomes you then fights, to catch out all the dinguses who insist on making it fight nude.
Wait you're telling me I could've rolled away from them?? Bruh 105 hours in and I didn't even know lol... Now that I think about it I was able to roll away from a teleporter chest one time. It was cuz some dude followed me tried backstabbing me. I didn't even notice it until now huh..

Watching your character stroll leisurely through Caelid was a treat. That land is designed to make you always stay on your guard. It's a ruthless land, covered in threats, and you just walked casually through it to Redmane Castle.
I love how the gimmicks you pull are extremely useful to me who is seriously struggling though the game. Giving me ideas and strategies that I wouldn't have thought of on my own.

God yes lol. I spent like 1 hour trying to beat him, because it didn't even occured to me to rest at nearby grace, because why would i need it? I just keep dying and respawning here!
haha i know what u feel, event as an experience soulslike player, that first giant after the gate is pretty hard for me, because it's been a long time for me not playing dark souls lol
Same here although I wasn't disappointed at all. Quite the opposite. I thought "if that is just a normal enemy then what the hell else could they have in store for me,"
I've played all the FromSoft games and I was pretty surprised he was just a regular enemy as well. I had assumed he was at least a miniboss who wouldn't come back. Very eye-opening for what Elden Ring considered a "standard" obstacle
That part where he's trying to give Alexander the kill and then getting owned by the fire giant had me rolling, that sums up how almost every fight goes when you assume you or a npc has the fight in a bag, the boss just says nope your going to try again lol

25:08 probably this has already been mentioned but the butt slam ash of war gets you quite high and is relatively easy to obtain. It would have surely worked here, as well as for the Farum Azula ledge. Edit : yeah alright I should keep watching the video before commenting
Remember all the items that he had to jump for to obtain them? Will the buttslam destroy them or was this more of a "dayuyyyuyoum i cant get these usefull items it gon be haaaard" just to flex with that jump later on?
That was probably more like "do I need to use this, or do I just want to use it to get this item right now?" Note that he didn't go get the madness shield until he actually needed to use Ground Slam.
"If you're an impatient person, then attempting this run will be a nightmare." Man, you don't have to be impatient for this to be a nightmare. I wouldnt even be able to do fucking Soldier of Godrick without giving up on this challenge.
I love when challenge runs add completely ridiculous additional restrictions that only make the challenge more tedious and take longer than it should. "Yes, I am going to beat the entire game while walking at a snail's pace. Also, I can't ride the horse even though nothing about this challenge would incline me to give myself such a restriction" always fun
No, what this truly showcases, is how effective anything you could want to do in this game truly can be. It feels like nothing is a wrong choice in this game and it is truly a thing of beauty.
It honestly reminds me of RuneScape in a way. People lock themselves to regions or to ridiculous restrictions on what they can do and still attempt to complete some of the toughest content in the game. Watching videos like this reminds me of Settled and his Morytania locked account, or Verf and his Karamja locked account, where they use obscure and ancient content to attempt to break boundaries and complete objectives. Elden Ring gives me the same vibe, and it's incredible
Elden Ring managed to achieve this for its PvE content. PvP is another story of course but I've never been into it very much, so it's not a concern for me. But still, not to undermine what they achieved for the (main) game, it's incredible. There feel like so many games where players are just shoehorned into using specific things and the experience feels very manufactured. Elden Ring has so many facets for story telling, all the way down to how your character overcomes adversity. In this case, you stare straight at them, walk forward at them intimidatingly, and then beat the shit out of them.
@@Chaosrain112 I feel like a large part of the PvP feeling is FromSoft's underwhelming servers. I have always despised Dark Souls PvP in general. But in this game, I actually enjoy when it happens. I get to just hurl a lightning bolt and one shot all the Katana folk and its so fulfilling.
Fun fact: you don’t actually need to climb the tree and use a bow to kill commander O’Neil. Instead, you can sneak up behind him and use poison mist, as it won’t aggro them when cast. In fact, any enemy you can sneak behind, you can use this strategy on. (i.e. draconic tree sentinel or one of the two tree sentinels in Altus plateau)
I have a feeling he probably didnt do it has he used this against the draconic sentinel in his lvl 1 challenge run and he doesnt like spamming the same strats
Keep in mind this map is 90 square miles... And he walked it... he was walking 2 to 3 a marathon's to get places... the distance from Limgrave to the Capital is nearly the same distance as Solitude to Riverrun in Elder Scroll's Skyrim... But your walking it, with all the enemies that can beat the shit out of you in like 2-3 hit's and your not walking it once no no no your going back and forth back and forth and then your going even farther... What a fucking madman
While most of your points are valid, and this feat is insane, once he had grace points, he could fast travel, reducing the "back and forth" but not entirely eliminating it. Still, crazy.

Honestly, that was the best unique and creative playthough of ER ever done. Turns the game into something completely different, more of a walking sim and a puzzle game. And it makes you appreciate the vastness of this world. Like you yourself were there, carrying your weapons and armor. Thats exactly how the walking animation looks. Maybe that way of playing was intended after all. That's just how a normal human would fare with such weight. No rolls, no running, like hiking with a massive backpack. Truly a marvelous experience, sir.
I just have to say what a great video. So committed. Also. THE FREEZING POT ON MALENIA?!?! I died to her 75 times. First time I used summons in the game was to beat her. Admittedly the second I used mimic tear, it became a trivial fight and didn’t feel very good to beat her with. I’m using freezing pot on this play through!!!!
Yeah, no it won't work that effectively now unfortunately. It looks like they actually made the windup faster. I'm saying this because I compared the windup speed from my recorded gameplay of Malenia to the one one in this video and the one in the video is definitely a lot slower
*Admittedly the second I used mimic tear, it became a trivial fight * the fuck i died 90 times on my first kill WITH MAX LVL WEAPONS AND MAX LVL MIMICK TEAR
I've been a compulsive consumer of challenge run videos for years now and it's always a delight to see a truly special one out of nowhere all over again. Watching the creator pull out every little bizarre and forgotten element of the game to surmount huge obstacles that are a blink in a traditional run. Very fun!

Honestly I wonder what would be going through the enemies' mind if they could think. Just seeing this one guy, walk, not run, but slowly walk toward them, and then equally slowly but incredibly brutally kill them one by one without so much as going a step faster.

New challenge: Weapon Nuzlocke! Every time you die your current equipped weapon is discarded and you can’t reuse the same specific weapon. Magic and Sunmons are optional, working the same way. Gonna give this one a shot myself
No, no. This is circumvented by just, not dying. Maybe force yourself to use the first weapon you see in any Named area, where the title shows up on the screen. If there are multiple weapons, just grab whichever is closest.
25:05 - There are several incantations which might have been usable here. Dragon's claw/maw are ones which come to mind as one of the patches made you mobile during the wind up.
Absolutely amazing my friend! I cheesed the hell outta the game, mimic, insane bleed, glitches for more money etc and it was still hard for me lol mad respect on your skill level! Thats the thing I love about Elden ring, it's very much as hard as you want it to be.
22:27 "It felt like FromSoft developed this level with my pointless run in mind" Makes me wonder if the most of the level design was intended to also work without jumping, as in other souls games. And at what point they doubled down on adding the jump button.
The late game areas seem more focused on jumping, like Faram Azula,Miquella’s tree and the capital (including the sewers). It’s also worth nothing that in all of those areas torrent is not available. If I had to guess they designed the open world and kinda got tired of just jumping using torrent and made those areas whit that in mind
I said it in another comment, but I think it's a holdover from their other games. General rule of thumb is if you can see it, you can go there. The trick is usually finding the path to get to it. While it's at a bare minimum, any platforming in their games is for optional content.
I had *no idea* there were ever any human enemies in Radahn’s castle. I’d already been to Altus before I dared to get near that bridge. It was honestly terrifying to walk across the impassable greatbridge when the only things in my way were destroyed fortifications. “What the hell happened here?”
Yeah, on my first character I walked across the bridge covered in 'beware explosion' messages, got to the empty castle and restarted Elden Ring because I thought the spawning glitched.
After you beat Radahn, you can actually restore that earlier stage. You have to come back and talk to the beard guy again who sits in the back somewhere. Once you do that and reload the area, the castle is back to having enemies.
I did the opposite XD. My OCD "I got to comb every bit of the map I explore had me entering Caelid at lv 44. I saw a castle and was like Oh! What's in there? Next thing I know I'm walking into Rahdan (and only like 3 of the world NPC's found, missed several quests cuz of this = P). I killed him though. I had put all my stats into strength and faith to be able to use the Halbert I got from the Tree Sentinal after you exit the grave so it only took me about 30 tries since I hit way harder then is normally possible at that level. Just kinda squishy but the crab claws dmg negation helped from getting 1-shot by all his swings.
You forgot probably one of the most important early game tools, the winged scythe found just below spawn. The art of war creates a pseudo jump which could allow you to jump small objects. Not as useful as a regular jump, but a combination of that and the groundpound would be good
So believe it or not, being a tank shield character was EXACTLY how I did my first run. I wasn't overloaded or anything, but I tanked Radahns comet phase and felt like a god.
One of the coolest things was attaching indomitable vow or whatever it’s called which gives you invulnerability for like 1 second but if you time it right Radahn can crash into you head on and you take no damage which is so badass imo 😂
@@matt_court I just had a giant shield and used the Barricade ability to tank the hit, I had the poise and guard ring on and it just stopped me from moving. I took damage, but tanked the fuck out of it.
There’s something so relaxing about this run concept, the way walking everywhere turns the whole journey into a kind of lazy stroll through Elden Ring’s beautiful scenery.

I love the great shield stab combination. It's so vile and effective. Historically correct too. This is the medieval 'can't go wrong' build
I'm amazed. Both at your skill and knowledge, but especially the patience! Well done
Honestly, that was the best unique and creative playthough of ER ever done. Turns the game into something completely different, more of a walking sim and a puzzle game. Makes me wonder if the most of the level design was intended to also work without jumping, as in other souls games.
I love how challenge runs really make you re-think how you play the game.

As soon as I saw the ledge in the water I was like "no....."

“I was defying Miyazaki” is my favorite line
