i wasnt able to figure out how to take the guard off..brand new from home depot.. i watched some videos of guys taking it off with no problem..i thought mine was faulty so i exchanged at home depot..same issue.. driving me nuts.. just watched your video.. didn’t know i had to lower the plate first. thank you!
Thanks, I couldn't remember how to get that damn blade guard housing off same as dangallagher below. You showed how at around 2:08 on the timeline. Needed to lower the damn thing first. Perfect. Thanks again.
They do have overload protection, slow your cuts slightly and or apply less pressure if cutting thicker material. Feel free to call our factory trained sales/customer service associates. Issues like this are easier/quicker to discuss over the phone sometimes. It is a great tool. But here is something I discovered here in the first week of ownership. Obviously, it is a little mini grinder. But DeWalt calls it a "cutoff tool." It doesn't seem like that means anything, but it does. You see, grinding wheels are not flat...so the only way to fit one under the shroud of this thing is to put it in backwards. Oh, you can grind with it that way. I did it today. But grinding using the inside edge, toward your hand...is just weird. I spent about an hour looking for a quick release for the shroud, like the one on my full size grinder, but if there is one, I did not figure it out.
If you get this trow away the diamond and abrasive wheels they suck. The yellow mason nlade cuts 10 times better on metal stainless and lux stone. If you use the other two blades have extra batteries.
Each blade is for specific materials, the diamond is primarily for tile and harder masonry products where the other blade you are describing won't cut certain materials. This is probably why you had an issue with the blades as described

@@toolnut no i use all three on three different materials the yellow was the fastest on all even concrete.
