Hi there! I’m over to see you because Julie (Camelia Crafts) mentions you so frequently!! I love the ink comparisons! The distress inks & oxides are just fascinating to me! Every time Tim H makes swatches, it’s so interesting how they compare & contrast! And if you add in the sprays, paints & crayons, it’s even more mind-boggling to try to order them! Frankly, I’ve sort of given up trying, I just grab one that I think might match or contrast & go for it! And he just announced that the last 2 new colors are both neutrals, so I’m interested to see how they fit in! I’ll be glad when they come along & I can stop rearranging all my drawers, boxes & trays! Thanks for a fun & quick little demo! I have liked & subscribed. Happy New Year & greetings from Lawrence Kansas!
Hi Erica and welcome. I’m so curious to see the new colours. As you saw today some of my pads are a bit dry but I’ll wait for the new colours before I buy anything in case I HAVE to have the new ones lol. Thank you for subscribing and a very Happy New Year 🌼💛🌼
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for us. Definitely interesting & will come in quite handy for deciding which to order! I have most of them in one form or the other but didn't know undertones of some of the newer ones. I appreciate your help!
Thank you and you are most welcome. I was most interested to see that Brushed Corduroy, a colour I think I have never used, was really an ochre colour.
This is a great comparison. I Love the Oxides for their ability to show on darker paper. Tim has a great video on his channel explaining why they are different and some tutorials if you've never seen it, I'd highly recommend it. He also has one for the sprays and so many more. During "lockdown" he did videos every week. I learned more than I thought I would.
Hi there. I honestly don’t think Timmy has made a video that I haven’t seen lol. I am a HUGE fan. This video wasn’t meant to rival any of his excellent videos, just a couple of people had asked me about where the browns all fitted in so I thought this was the easiest way to show them. It would have been better if I’d had a more comprehensive set and some of my inks weren’t so dry lol. Nice to meet another Timmy fan. Happy New Year ⭐️🌼⭐️
Hello Miss Paintalot, I’m Jodi from Buffalo NY. I literally just came across your first video on using the Edith Holden book for ephemera. I recently finished taking apart my first Edith book. Wanted to wait until I had a few. I am sooo happy to find this video. I will definitely be following the series. As for your other videos I will try to watch here and there. Even though I’ve been at this for about two years. I consider myself a newbie still learning. Do you do live shows if so what day? I’m so excited to join your family of crafty folks. Thought I would comment on your latest video. I’m going back to the Edith number 1 video. Have a great day. 🙂
Hi Jodi. Glad you are having fun. That’s what it all should be about. I do a live show on Sundays at 4 o’clock uk time. You should join the Facebook group, most of the people you’ll ‘meet’ on the video chat are in the group. It’s called Miss Paintalot’s Junk Journal Group. I believe you’re weather conditions are extreme and dangerous, I’m hoping you are doing ok 💛😀💛
You are just a sweet heart to take the time to do this sample sheet. Your knowledge is like you are a Timmy twin , thank you for all you share with us so we dont have to waste that coin on things we just might not like . Hugs Lady Ms P. Just like when you explained about the SPRAYS.
So glad you found this interesting. I was amazed at the colour of the Brushed Corduroy, it’s a real ochre colour. I think I need some new ink pads lol, some of those were so dry lol. Love you lots xx
Thank you. Very interesting. I’d also like to see what colors the oxides do after being oxidized with water on white or coffee dyed would be good. They can really throw out some interesting effects and colors.
Being older than dirt 😉 I feel I am somewhat overly qualified to speak on this subject....... this was an invaluable comparison tool and greatly appreciated. To once again show my age, one of my favorite browns was Rangers Adirondack Mushroom, it was a lovely velvety earthen smoke color. It was simply a dye based ink but certainly served me well. Need to revisit these now since you did all the legwork or rather handwork, thank you soooooo much!!!!!! ✴️
THoltz has a refresher spray for ink pads.. or I use a dash of wow glycerin and just smear it around.. i wait about 10 to 15 mins minimum to start using again . And it seems to work for me. I have never bought the ink refills for the pads. For their almost about the same price if you're going to buy it like that but I found the refresher spray you can use it on all of them. Just food for thought
Thanks for that Cindy. I actually quite like the re-inkers and use them for different mixed media stuff rather than re-inking my inks. I’ll give the refresher a go I think. Thank you.
Thank you. If you perhaps wrote out the names of the ink & oxides first and laid them across the top it might be easier to see, and also save time. Might help with spellings too etc. But I really appreciate this video comparison. 🇦🇺❤

Thank you for comparing these inks. I’ve taken screenshots and they will be very useful. 😊
You’re very welcome Toni xx
Oh thank you so so much for this!!! ❤ it’s so interesting all the different shades! Now it’s easy for me to decide what I want to buy first hahaha 😝

Thank you. Very interesting to see the differences between colours in oxide and ink ♥️🌺♥️

Thanks for this look at distress browns. There are a lot and I'm struggling to sort out the cool browns from the warm browns. This is very helpful!
You are very welcome Deborah
Thank you so much for doing this, Fiona- it is very interesting and a great way for us to know before we purchase. 🥰
Thanks Jen ❤️🌺❤️
fantastic help!
Awesome! Very informative!
This was so interesting and useful. Thank you!!!
Thank you Pamela 😀
This is a great video, I took some photos to keep the comparisons close at hand. Thanks so much for doing this.🇨🇦
No problem Bernice. I’m glad you found it useful 😀😀
Love this, thank you
Thank you for doing this!
You’re very welcome Debbie ⭐️🌼⭐️
Thank you for this 💖🇨🇦

Yes, you’re quite right but this was just a very quick and basic comparison. You’re ideas are good though, food for another video lol
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you.

‘Older than dirt’ 🤣🤣🤣. I’m afraid I’m not familiar with the Mushroom colour and now I feel I’ve missed out!! You are very welcome Cathy, thank you.

Many thanks. For inking edges of edges etc, which brown do you use the most?❤
I’d say nowadays I use ground espresso. That’s because I’ve gone over to the Timmy side lol
Vintage photo oxide isn’t too much different from the ink. Just a tad bit lighter. 🥰
Thank you. If you perhaps wrote out the names of the ink & oxides first and laid them across the top it might be easier to see, and also save time. Might help with spellings too etc. But I really appreciate this video comparison. 🇦🇺❤
If ever I do it again I will be sure to take on board your suggestions. Thank you for your comment.
