Perfect. I need to understand the difference in the 2. Funny I had no idea. There is a truly difference. I’ve been very unwell since November. I pray daily to get well. It’s been a very long 9 months. 🤦♀️ So I have folders for each of my 6 UA-cam friends for this.. We had a new home built. I’ve got a file cabinet. I have your names and the girls I’m following. I searched for distress inks and there were so many vidoes! Yours was the most helpful because it was short and gave all the explanation!!!!! Thanks for this video Rebecca! 😊
Yes! Thank you, Rebecca, for demonstrating the difference between the two inks! I saw clearly the features I want in ink & now know which to buy for different techniques. You have spared me the frustration which I need less of & the money which I can not afford to waste! This is a video all beginners should see! 👏😊👍
Thank you so much for explaining the difference between the distress and distress oxide. I finally understand. Very informative. I enjoyed you video very much.
I wish I had seen this Video before I bought the entire set of Distress Inks. I do a lot of stamping and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get a distinct image from them. Especially with sentiments. Then I heard someone from Ranger say that they weren’t designed for stamping. Thanks for sharing! Now I know why I should invest in some more colors of Oxides.
They are still great inks to have, but yes, definitely better for techniques than stamping. :( Whereas I do really love to even stamp with the Oxides. I am thinking about a video sharing how to use regular Distress and Distress Oxides together, so stay tuned for that as you collect some more Oxides! I started increasing my collection by buying two or three at a time just my favorite colors. Thanks for watching! Happy New Year!
@ I usually don’t recommend buying sets unless you really like every color in the set. I gravitate to a bright rainbow of colors so I always grab those first.
"distress inks are more a technique ink than a stamping ink" ooooh yeah, I learned this by the worst and hardest way ever 😅 I love the Oxides, the colors are so bright and gorgeous and I love the chalk effect ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Sadly is not easy to find them here in my country (and is very expensive too), but is a lifechanging suply! I'm in love with the ones I have.
Yesssss! I remember years ago thinking, wait what? I can't stamp with these lol! Yup, the Oxides are pretty much my go-to inks these days! I am sorry to hear they are so hard to find and pricey where you are! :(

Love me them distress oxide inks. A real game changer for me. That chalky finish and the cool way it reacts to water ... OMG! Very useful comparison video you've done. Now I know WHY I love them so much. Thank you!
I really love your videos! I just purchased Distress Oxide inks and blenders, and I can't wait to try some of these techniques. Thanks for all the great examples. Keep 'em coming!
I've been wondering what to invest in Inks or Oxides and you totally answered my questions. Oxides look like a much better option. Thank you so much for this awesome video!
I love my Oxides so much. They are the ones that I buy every new color. I've even reserved them at Simon Says before knowing that the color is. Buuuuut, I have also fallen in love the with the new formulations of dye inks too. ua-cam.com/video/gYyRJTaG_eg/v-deo.html I still think Oxides blend easier, but the new dye inks are AMAZING for stamping. SIGH. it's so hard to just pick one 😂
Wow; I've always wondered but never explored how they work. The only question remains why anyone would use the distress ink given how versatile the oxides are. I haven't bought them and now will. Thank you.I love videos like this where we can see actual, tangible differences
I am so glad it was helpful! I do know people who still use regular Distress Inks for techniques and who prefer the look of watercoloring with them, but the Oxides are my go to number one faves! :)

I just came across this video for distress oxides which I love. Was wondering if I could stamp with them because I see all the different inks out there and didn’t want to invest in more inks if I could make these work! Thank you for this video!
Another amazing video! I have been going back and forth on whether or not to invest in Distress Oxide inks. I have all the Distress inks in the mini size. I purchased my first Distress Oxide last week and practiced blending over the weekend with my new blending brushes. 😀 It was amazing. Even with my poor blending skills. Thanks for showing how versatile these inks are. Your video was so timely for me.
That makes me so happy to hear! They make SUCH a difference! I tend to be way to heavy handed with Distress Inks (with everything really lol) and so I end up with lots of harsh lines. No more with Oxides! Now they are my go-to ink. I love all the bright colors too!
Thank you for doing an ink tutorial, I've been wondering about the differences between them and this has really helped... Have a wonderfully creative week ahead... Take care and stay safe my lovely... 💫😷🎨🤗🎨😷💫

The regular Distress Inks do watercolor differently than the Oxides because they dry with more of a traditional watercolor look. But if you're mainly going to use them that way, you could definitely just get the cubes which is way more cost effective than full sized pads. When I first discovered Distress Ink, I bought cubes and then bought some refills for my absolute favorite colors. Some of the lightest colors seem to need to be refilled more quickly like Spun Sugar or Tumbled Glass....or maybe I just use those the most lol?!
@@AndreMmmm SAME for Oxides for me too! I am trying to build up my refills for JUST in case lol, but so far those are the only ones I've actually refilled.
Thank you for explaining & showing the different results. It helps justify the price difference between the two types of inks. Being a newbie it's hard to know what's worth the expense and quality of products.
Oxides are my go-to ink and I use them for everything, so you're right it does justify the price for me. I have never bought as many of one type of ink before. Usually I just buy a few of my favorite colors. That's how I started with Oxides too, but as I learned how much I love them, I bought more and more!
Thank you so much for these clear explanations. I'd given up trying to use Kraft card to stamp on because of how muddied the colours were . Now I've got to go and get out some oxide inks and try it - right now! Tfs x
Wonderful video, so informative. I do have all of the Oxides, but even still you reminded me of things I haven’t done with them, like the water coloring. Thank you for taking the time to put together such a great comparison. 🙂
Hey, regarding stamping with the regular distress inks, it works if you use an embossing pad like the versamark first. Ink the stamp with the versamark, don't stamp! And ink again with your chosen distress pad, the sticky surface prevents the the ink from "moving" on your stamp, sort of... I'm not sure why it works.
I actually don't have any problems stamping with Distress Oxide inks! But I do season all new stamps with multiple stamped images or putting versamark on and wiping it off.
@@RebeccaKeppel I didn't mean the oxides, I meant the regular distress inks. I got a few of the little sets when I started crafting again, and found a video showing that trick after struggling to use them for stamping... I love the oxides so much more though! The colours just kind of pop more I guess :-)
I have yet to try these. I've been eyeing those 12 packs on Simon Says Stamp for about a week now. Those particular packs are sold out in all the Australian craft stores currently so that tells you how popular they are! Thanks for this!
I love Distress Oxide inks too! I have the whole set and even preordered the new colors. Number one reason..blending! Until I got these inks my blending was terrible....now I feel like an expert, lol...which I’m definitely not, lol. 😂 thanks for sharing
Try using the smooshing technique on photo paper. I only dab in-between colors. Heat set at the end. Then wipe off the oxide. I wait until the end to wipe for the surprise.

Thank you so much for saying so! Glad to hear there's another Oxide lover here! :)
Very helpful information! Blessings and Hugs 🤗
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day!
I'm just starting to use the Distress Oxide Inks.
They are my go-to inks and I use them all the time! Have fun!
I learned a lot!! Thank you
Hey, regarding stamping with the regular distress inks, it works if you use an embossing pad like the versamark first.
If you can get your hands on them, I can almost guarantee that you will love them! My go-to ink for sure! :)
I love so much the colors you work with ❤️
Thank you so much! I definitely tend towards bright colors! :)
just discovered your channel and became a new subscriber. Loved your video and how well you explain everything. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for stopping by, watching, subscribing and for your incredibly kind words! All much appreciated! Thanks for being here.
I love Distress Oxide inks too! I have the whole set and even preordered the new colors. Number one reason..blending! Until I got these inks my blending was terrible....now I feel like an expert, lol...which I’m definitely not, lol. 😂 thanks for sharing
SAME!! I really struggled with blending before the Oxides. Thanks for reminding me....I need to grab the latest color lol!
❤the tutorial
Thanks so much!💕
You videos are so informative!!
Thanks for sharing..was so helpful! 🥰
So glad to hear it was helpful!
Great video!
Thanks so much for watching!
Try using the smooshing technique on photo paper. I only dab in-between colors. Heat set at the end. Then wipe off the oxide. I wait until the end to wipe for the surprise.
Sounds like a fun technique!
@@RebeccaKeppel it is. The colors look so dull before you wipe it off. The colors become so bright.
