- In today's video I am trying to fix my Audi TT 3.2l 2005 squeaky brakes as well as clean then. I used AutoZone's aerosol brake cleaner. The can says it helps clean and dries quickly, stops brake squeaks and chatter, helps clean hard parts of brake assemblies as well as linens, designed to leave no residue, and penetrates quickly without disassembly. The can costs $3 and is defiantly work the money. This brake cleaner has been the best purchase for $3 I've made all year. This is the $3 squeaky brake fix. I hope you enjoy!

Half the time when your brakes make noise they are just dirty. Brake clean helps quiet them up. I spray my brakes with the brake cleaner once a month. And you don’t have to remove the wheel to do it find the calliper and spray in between the rotor and the calliper and for drum brakes in the back lay on the ground under your car spray it from behind the drum. Works for me.

Ryan S i had jus gotten my brakes and rotors (front two) replaced three weeks ago and i noticed 2 weeks in the front-driver's left side is making squeaks. read online that it has to do with dirt and debris, smh. so i happen to buy to same exact brake cleaner in this vid, will keep applying, thank you
i got my rotors fixed because they were not aligned with the pads, called “waves” but my front left side sounded squeaky, but im sure its not due to my recent maintainence. i do live in a windy/dirty area so maybe i might have to start this once a month routine too. thanks for the video btw!

Took my truck to get a brake check, luckily i had an honest guy from brakes plus.. shoutout to them... he told me “you got a lot of brake life left i’d be a criminal in telling you to replace them, just clean them with this (recommended product shown)”.. Its ben a few months i dont hear a thing anymore.

I had squeaky rear brakes. I sprayed the rear calipers with brake cleaner. Now, no more squeaks. This really works. Thanks for posting.

Do you know if the source of the squeak-sound came from the friction between the brake-pad and rotor making contact? Or was it coming from where the caliper pushes against the back of the pad? Usually during initial install if no lube is applied where caliper touches back of pad - squeaks.
THAT WILL PRODUCE A SMALL CLICK OR CLACK, NOT A SQUEAL. Squeal is from the rotor vibrating due contamination mostly.
Your video was very helpful Bro I just bought a 2014 Chevy Silverado not even a month with it and I noticed it started squeaking I am going to go and buy a can of that brake cleaner and try it out but again like I said it’s always good to do some research and your video so far is going to help me pretty good after I do it I’ll leave another comment to let you know how I went and maybe I can help other people on trusting that brake cleaner or not

Thanks for the fun, informative video, Hayden. Single chick here, who has to do what I can on my own to maintain my car inexpensively - can't afford a mechanic shop for every little thing. I do my own windshield wipers, in cabin air filters, under the hood filters, lights, fluid top offs, any little thing I can (with my long manicured nails!). I've got some noise coming from the brakes, saw cleaner at the store today, decided to research it, but gonna buy some tomorrow and give it a try. ;-)

I had some squeaking on my breaks noticed the FL was dirty and sprayed some of cleaner on it and guess what noise gone and breaks feel definitely smoother

I got a truck with some really screechy brakes but my issue is my rims are very open design and the rotor is very exposed so it can get very very dirty easily. They stay cool but at a cost. My front rotors are rough but the rears are good but also squeal. Im gonna try this first before new pads and rotors. I know my brakes are dirty but i wanna see how good it can quiet them down. Its worth a shot. I know my brakes are very contaminated from sitting too long sometimes

mine usually squeak only when coming to a complete stop even if i brake way ahead. on my van it would do the same even after changing the pads but i just picked up a "new" car so not entirely sure what work has been done to it if any im going to assume none. just been busy to get to it so yea gonna try this out first and if anything just take to a shop and get it changed for now. plan to upgrade it anyways down the line thus why i've been taking so long
I got new brake pads and rotors. They were not factory from my auto make/model. Ever since there's a loud squeaking noise when I'm slowly going in reverse. Will this work?? Went back twice to installer..they claim not their fault..wth!

Can I use this on a bicycle ? I think it might be dust or something. It's not a squeeky noise it just sounds like metal hissing or something. The faster I ride the faster the sound is and when I start to brake the noise completely stops.

I love this video thank you so much the guy that I called to do my brakes he usually is just like a mobile mechanic so he pulls up when you get the parts ready to get put on and honestly part of me kept thinking that I should probably get something to wipe off the brakes and clean themand he didn’t do that. He just slapped the new parts on and now my new rotors and brakes are really squeaky when I back up and turn and sometimes even stop so I’m hoping this works. Edit: Also, I had him come look at the brakes again, he keeps telling me that. It’s because I’m lightly pressing on them, and that I need to wear the brakes down.😂

Doesn’t the break cleaner eat away at your brake pads? Always been told to not pray the pad it’s self
It won't hurt to clean your brakes this way as long as you rinse them well with clean water afterwards. It obviously won't get them completely clean but yes, it can help. You really need to removal the wheel to get the back of the caliper properly which not everyone can do.
How long did this solution last until the squeak comes back?
My ML350 Mercedes SUV took it to the dealership for its scheduled brake maint, 80k my brake pads and rotor are 8:10 in great shape; however my brakes squeak. The mechanic didn't do anything to the brakes he said, once they get hot the squeaking would stop. It did not; what should I do?

Yeah, I bought can of the CRC brake cleaner once - unbeknownst to me - the spray nozzle was broken; aimed it directly at the rotor to clean and it shot out backwards and got me right in the eye. Ouch. Blurry vision and eye pain followed for 2 hours. CRC always seems to give me bad cans and/or defective/missing straws.

Bought brand new rotors and pads in March, 3 weeks later they were squealing, took it back changed the pads ,2 weeks later squealing again .
Definitely buying this cleaner tomorrow.

Make sure your new pads are ceramic. Also might need rotor resurfaced.

But I gotta say the squealing stopped lately .but yea in the future ceramic pads
papilo2 and I think even new rotors and pads can “break in” uneven after even just a weeks worth of driving, and it would just be the same process, resurface and sand rotors and pads(even though they were new), $10 job. Or the caliper is off and they’re wearing at like 70:30% ratio.
This may be a fix for some but if you break hard constantly check if your rotors still have some life left or that they haven’t warped

I usually clean them every 3 or 4 months. But I usually give them a quick clean and then drive it around the block and then do a deep clean. It lets some of it loose. If it still squeaks inspect the brakes and rotors closely.

Not only does this product work beautifully on its intended target -- i.e. brakes -- it also works AMAZINGLY on light scratches, abrasions and paint transfers from other cars or from scraping against parking structure walls/posts, etc. An Auto Zone employee used this on my white Toyota yesterday and, spraying it on a microfiber cloth and, rubbing the affected areas, within 5 minutes had COMPLETELY ELIMINATED every scratch, abrasion and paint-mark on my vehicle! Seeing is believing and that puppy looked BRAND NEW again! Seriously, it was like a damn MAGIC TRICK!

Omg. Brake cleaner on auto paint. It removed likely all of the clear coat in that area (paint protective layer). There’s a reason applying brake cleaner on someone’s car paint is often recommended as a highly illegal way to get revenge on someone.

Applying brake cleaner to your caliper would remove the lubricant that was applied to the contact points wouldn't it?

Lol. Evan's a bid. "It almost completely gets rid of the problem, But it doesn't completely get rid of the problem" Forward or Backwards it still means the same thing. My Q7 brakes were brand new in a week were squealing like a 18 wheeler. Brake clean did help it immensely though.

I forgot to add the organic grease to my Challenger rear wheels and now it's making some very annoying squeaky noises. I wish all the brake pads/ parts came pre-lubricated

Yeah bought a brand new sportage and have had squeaky breaks although kia mechanic on last oil change said breaks were still good at 8 millimeters thickness but still every now and again usually on soft braking the squeel pops up and its honestly embarrassing cause it shouldnt happen on a new vehicle right at 5 k miles.

@@williamknell864 not necessarily. I did the same thing with the help of someone slowly rolling the car while I spray. I had 70% pads left but lots of km on the rotors. It stayed quit until the pads were low enough to get pads and rotors changed.

In order to get rid of the problem completely you need to remove the pads and clean them properly.
No you just buy new pads they're like 30-50 bucks depending on the quality you choose to go with... They are literally designed to squeak when they need changed... They have a piece of metal that drags the rotor. Spraying it with a parts cleaner isn't going to fix that.

They were brand new but squeaked a bit because I live in a windy area where a lot of dust and dirt get thrown around. Over time the dust and grime can get in and all around your caliper and disc. Especially with my vehicles rims, they are a thin 5 spike design that exposes a lot of the brake assembly to the elements. Keep them clean and if possible keep your car inside while parked.

My brand new brakes are squeaking like hell. They did not squeak before but the rotors were warped so I replaced, the rotors and pads, greased the back of the pads. Hoping it’s just excess brake dust from the new pads causing the squeak.
@John Smith My brakes were completely shot, as well as my parking brake. Went to pep boys for my lincoln town car, needed new everything basically brake pads, rotors, parking brake, re- rotate rotors, bleed brakes allat, n it was $600 in total with labor, where tf uu get $30 brakes from bro😂

I got a 2017 tahoe, it only squeeks at a low speed stop never at all high speed slowdown. The breaks and rotors look good. Don't know why
