For stealth camping you should use a blackout curtain or partition to separate the front cab from the living area. When you use your window covers that’s a beacon letting everyone know that someone is camping in the van. Leaving the front cab open just makes it look like the van is parked and the driver is out……I’m just sayin’
Exactly, was about to say the same, it's a 100% dead give away, that someone is living/sleeping in the van. And you don't use the front area anyways, and leaving that open, it just looks like a normal van that has been parked and left.
What does it matter though? A van with an exhaust and solar at the top. Yeah, sure no one is living in there for sure. With blinds all over the windows, for sure no one is in there. Seriously?
Hello from Taiwan🇹🇼 I’m a mom of a little boy, I work five days a week. I go to work after taking my kid to school , then pick up my kid after work. I mean,it’s really boring sometimes/most of the time. Your videos really lighten up my days and take me to places I probably won’t go in any time soon, or try things I won’t try anytime soon. Your freedom to travel in van ,your braveness to stay in random places and your little funny moments are really awesome. Just want to let you know that someone from the other side of the world really enjoy your video.
Never have I looked forward to watching a guy stealth camping in a car park outside McDonald’s until Wills Whereabouts channel was born into the world of UA-cam. Great video 😊😊😊👍👍👍
I love how simple your life is. Honestly. I want it. I make huge money with big companies and all i can think about is when I can quit and make my life simple and relaxed.
England just doesn't like people parking overnight. Where as Scotland doesn't seem to have much of a problem with that. But you managed to find a place for the night. Good job. Thanks for sharing this stealth camping adventure. Have a great day.
Only found your channel yesterday mate so I've been watching from when you first bought the van and are now fitting the flooring. Very entertaining channel.
Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, but ever thought of spray painting your front blinds black? Would match you side windows and make it more stealthy? 😌 Otherwise great channel! 😃✌🏻
New sub/viewer here. Love these videos they really relax me and reduce my stress/anxiety so thanks for that! The van looks so peaceful and cosy would enjoy chilling in there.
The barriers are to prevent people leaving their cars at McDonald's and sodding off to the airport thus avoiding parking charges at the airport terminal or car parks cracking video as usual my good sir 👍
You’d be towed within the day, they’re more there to stop people using the car park as a drop off point. Whenever I drop anybody at the airport I either stop on the road by the hotel or drop them in the BP garage at the North Terminal (be sure to buy a mars bar from the shop and ask for a receipt) I’ve also dropped people off outside the Police station at the South Terminal lol - never been fined yet.
@@testpilotian3188 incorrect. nobody is allowed to tow or clamp your car without permission from the council, police or DVLA. And permission is only for specific occasions. Also the only parking fines that you must legally pay are those from the local council. A "fine" from McDonald's can be ignored with no consequence
Hey Will. Why don't you put a removable security camera, with 360-degree panning, outside when parked up. That way, you can check the outside. Either on your phone or on the TV monitor. Just a thought 🤔
I am a 'Brit' who has lived in Northern Europe for the last 20 years. We returned to the UK last summer for a family visit and were entirely shocked at the parking restrictions and complex rules about 'which cars' are allowed to park 'where'. My children's God Father took us all to the movies in a town in Kent, but the parking process, the 'process' for ordering our 'Nando's dinner' and the 'process' for buying our cinema tickets was exhausting. The movie seemed like the least important activity. Has the UK become a place where there is a 'tax' on existing?? Try taking 'Mary' on a trip to Northern Europe. (a) You will find it very easy, and (b) the people are lovely - you know that when they sell beer in the petrol stations and not very many buy it!
If you really wanted stealth you should have picked a cargo van with no window on the side or back. I put in two ceiling skylights works perfect. Still have room on the roof for solar panels too. And also a blackout drape behind the front seats. It slides on a track if you need to use the front seats for extra seating in a pinch.
Any plain van with windows in the back always screams camper, you can spot them a mile away. I’ve got a sign written windowless Van that’s a camper, park that anywhere because it looks like a works van
As a teenager from North Carolina in the mid-80s, I spent a summer in school in the Horley/Haywards Heath/Surrey/Sussex area. It's a bit shocking to see it looking so much like automobile-centric America these days! I have done plenty of stealth camping here in the last 20 years with my Casita fiberglass travel trailer, and I share your pain of finding a quiet spot that doesn't obviously break any rules. Nice new underpants!
Just watching you eat three McDonalds meals in 24 hours makes me feel sick 🤢 I believe the gates and cameras are to try and stop the boy racers congregating. I hope you had a McPoo while you were there too 😃
OK....its 7am...sunday morning.........where I have my morning coffee and toast and check my emails and youtube videos for the latest news. I see this guy doing stealth camping so I figure I would check in and see whats happening. Little did I know that not even 5 min into the video I would be laughing my butt off about a guy going to McDonalds for the next 24 hours. I'm going to finish watching now......I guess while laughing and trying to finish my coffee!!!! Not sure why.....but you are hilarious my dear. I love the brits but now I love you even more. Thanks so much for sharing. Back to the video!
@Will's Whereabouts This is a great idea! You should totally go two different hotels and different places where food can be tried out and try to eat that food for breakfast lunch and dinner and make a video series out of it. Obviously, you don't want to end up like some of the other UA-camrs who get unhealthy on this, but this is maybe something that could be done once in awhile.
I no longer go to mcdonalds or kfc, but i had been thinking about making my own camper long time a go now going back to the idea. You done a smart job with it all and would say its gives more character to everything if you make it your self.
Brilliant will funny to watch as always deffo had me laughing your videos just the best. nothing worse having bugs in the camper been waiting to watch that well worth the wait injoyed that alot can't wait for your next one now top man will X
As usual what a lovely content Will, you’re being generous for giving McDonald’s free an advertisement well I hope McDonald’s will gives you something from out of it. Next location at Gordon Ramsey restaurant 😂
Absolutely love the stealth camps but you need some way of making the outside of those blinds black. From a passing glimpse you’d probably still not notice but atm they stand out like a sore thumb🤣
I’ve never seen one with a gate. It’s always interesting seeing what different items are in other countries. I don’t think either those chicken sandwiches are in the US.
Beware the one in Poole. No barriers but only 1hr from 8pm-8am then 3hrs in between during day. Just got caught out having breakfast there from 06.36-08.06.
My local Sainsbury's, not a fan of McD's but that drive thru' is always jammed. Judging by the game that was on, I was in London that day & I think I popped in to Sainsbury's for a few bits and pieces on the way home that night, so probably passed right in front of Mary - small World.
McDonald's you can just park usually as long as you want to and if you are not bothering anyone. You probably should buy some food but I been known to park and crash out after a long day at work coming home at near 3am to tired and falling asleep pulled in to sleep no problems. Did wake up to a coffee and breakfast platter.
Fairplay Will. Doesn't your van look super.,thinking of when you bought it,you have done a fabulous job. When you started talking about Mc Donald's,I did get a small craving, after the third meal,I remembered why I don't eat it ha ha. Great video. Thank you.

My takeaway preference is to live, because I'm rather fond of it, and don't want to take a chance having high fructose corn syrup again! 😄 That's all! Cheers Will! 🤠 🖤🦇
if you ever feel truly adventurous you could try visiting canada to do a collab with Steve Wallis. might wanna go when it's warmer though, that man's got ice water for blood

Black coloured blinds would at least be more stealthy.
Yeah...I agree

I say to my pals if you only watch one A guy stealth camping in a car park outside McDonald’s video this year, make this one!
you heard of Ryan Twoney
What more could you ask for, breakfast lunch dinner and secure parking....sorted! Great video as always 👍
Me personally? Food that wasn't rubbish... 🥴 But we all have our preferences... 🤠
I'm in the U.S. and have never seen barriers at a McDonald's!

You cant park overnight along Loch Ness unless it is in a camp site whichbis sad
those car park fines are uninforcable in Scotland, they can send you letters, you just ignore, they can't do anything.
Only found your channel yesterday mate so I've been watching from when you first bought the van and are now fitting the flooring. Very entertaining channel.
Rt
Mind blown! Seeing a drive thru in a place that drives on the left looks so crazy! 😄
Your van looks great Will! You've come a long way!
Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, but ever thought of spray painting your front blinds black? Would match you side windows and make it more stealthy? 😌 Otherwise great channel! 😃✌🏻
I think that every time I see them. I think they’re paper but black spray paint would work fine.
New sub/viewer here. Love these videos they really relax me and reduce my stress/anxiety so thanks for that! The van looks so peaceful and cosy would enjoy chilling in there.
Thank you for explaining in the title what McDonald's is, I was confused for a second until I read your explanation.

Hey Will. Consider a white noise speaker (amazon sells them) to drown out street noises at night. Works for me, maybe it works for you
In areas surrounding airports everyone is looking for free or cheap parking, which is why airports, hotels etc. are so hot on it.

You claiming to have a plan was probably the funniest bit of the video :')
Love Your Viedos And Your Humor, Down The Shiter, LOL!! Congratulations On Your Van. Greetings From San Diego🌴
That shows how much fun a own Camper can be, even without starting a huge trip. I should get one
Here in my country Philippines , you can park anytime , anywhere at McDonald's with no restrictions and no parking fee.🤗 Stay safe always 🙌

But its too hot! Ive been there. Maybe u can be pioneer of van life there

All macdonalds have these now love the video camera every macdonalds
Will with the new SuperSize me documentary 😂 I’m still loving the van videos.
The good thing about locking the gates to the carpark is that it will be more secure

LOL THE DANCEING QUEEN PART IS FO FUNNY 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣 (hopefully you don't get a copyright stire or what ever is called)
Macdonald's on the A24 would've been a good choice nice and large and no barriers 👍🏻
Mcdonalds in the UK seems to have more security then a high security prison, cameras everywhere , barriers
is pretty cashless and everyone who eats there seems to play on the phone while eating
what model camera are you using on the van windsheild? Really great stabilization and quality.
Next video! Super Size Me Van Life Edition!
That van is so nice, it must have cost a lot
love the vids nice to see crawley again i used to live in three bridges and i am seeing loads of changes keep up the good work 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
You are mad will 🤣🤣 nice job 👏
