I kept waiting for you to be "odd" and nothing happened😅 You're inspiring, don't be so hard on yourself.
well, thank you! after editing, I thought it was a bit strange!
Nicole van Heerden lol same.
Totally agree with this comment. Very helpful informative video! Nothing odd to me! =)
Our Police department has a parking spot for internet sales swaps/pick ups for a safe place to get your craigslist or FB items.
that's great! I need to remember that!
What state do you live in?? This is a wonderful idea
So does ours here in Tennessee
As a stay at home mom I mostly make money by teaching piano lessons. But the other day I actually traded heirloom tomato plants I’d grown for a couple of bags of apples!
way to go! And piano lessons would be a great way! That's wonderful!
I don’t think you’re odd! I think you’re very clever!
thanks so much!
I have no idea why you wound up on my newsfeed, but I'm glad you did.
thanks so much! honored to have you here!
Never apologizing for sharing good things with people. Thank you especially for the Amazon info.
you are welcome!
Good ways for seniors on a fixed income to make some extra money also. Thanks for the info. Great video👍.
best of wishes!
Pam I Am hi Pam I am! I am Pam 2!🤪
I really liked this video. I watched it yesterday but forgot to comment. Most channels make videos about "saving money" (us included) but you talk about "making money" which I like even better. If you put your mind to it there are tons of ways you can find to make money.
A few years back I made a "Danish for beginners" course on a platform. I had never done anything like that before and didn't have any of the right equipment. I really had no idea what I was doing (our videos have gotten WAY better now... haha). But I did it and launched it. And now, 5 years later I am still making a few hundred dollars a year on it doing absolutely nothing for it.
Making more money is smarter than saving money! I like this video and I like you! :)
hey that's great! I've often thrown that around in my mind, but it looks pretty big to get a course started and launched! Way to go!
Real Organized , can you explain what equipment you got to make you videos better?
TexPR1 We’ve invested in external microphones and simple studio lighting (along with a few other knickknacks). Gimbals and fancy cameras are great if you have the money, but it’s amazing how far you can get just by spending a little money (and attention) on sound and lighting.
@@theMennoniteMom I don't think it has to be complicated as long as you can make and edit videos like you are now you should be fine you can go through sites like Udemy and Skillshare. You have to go through an approval process first, which you will be approved based on your videos here they just want to see that you have the skillset to create content, the approved me and I haven't done videos in years, I believe I used Udemy.com. You can share your knowledge on your photography, any farming or diy skills and gardening. Pretty neat stuff.Hope that helps.
@@RealOrganized Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Your business savvy is SO impressive! You're like the Proverbs 31 woman, the way you look for ways to supplement your family's income : )
well thanks... I wouldn't consider myself a proverbs 31 woman, I just happen to enjoy business (:
💕Aww! Your little boy is so cute and happy!
Love from a new channel💕
he does brighten our lives (:
Love your outlook on MLM!! So many ppl have bad attitudes towards it but the company I'm with has given me so many opputinites & friendships.!!
yes, they can be a great thing!
I agree! Very well said😊
My goodness, you're a trading shark, a hustler, in a good way. Nice skill to have.

God Bless you 😊
lol, thanks! Yes, my Dad taught me how to run equipment! thanks Dad!
Love the way you read to your son. Excitement is contagious (IMO) and grows joy!
thanks (: yes, excitement is contagious! I will remember that!
Great ideals! I was just wow' by the bartering story! How fun to see the different items that you came across and then came out smelling like a rose on a lot of them! Thanks for sharing ..just love listening to you...and your personality shines! Blessings from Arkansas!
thanks, glad you enjoyed! Wasn't sure if it would be interesting to anyone or not. it's a bit unconventional. lol
Wow! I thought I had done some crazy things to make extra money. You take it to another level for sure! I applaud you👏 I always love your videos and think you are so interesting to watch and love your style. Have a great day!
thank you so much! LOL, yes, I'm a bit odd sometimes 😂
This is a great video! I love the ideas and I’m actually really intrigued by that last one. Really like your channel.👍🏼
Well best of wishes if you decide to try it! Thanks for your support!
Thanks for sharing your ways of making money, we all have different interests and can learn from each other as well, for me, I love gardening and the past few years I've done canning for friends in town, something I can do from home while taking care of my family, each person has to find what works for them, this gives me new ideas to help and still stay at home, thanks for sharing
that's perfect! Canning is a great idea! I had mentioned some ideas like sewing and such, but my video was getting too long!
Thanks for sharing. Didn’t see u being odd at all. I love seeing Zander so excited with his new books. I enjoy watching u and ur family❤️👍🏻
thanks for that!
Xander really loved those books! Usborne books are wonderful. Thanks for the tips!
he sure did!
I am a retired teacher. I love these books!!!
Still binging your channel... This upload gave me a wee burst of inspiration and a few ideas... Much needed this year. Thank you so very much!!!
Awesome! Thank you for being here!
I’ve done most all these things! Some friends thought I was weird too! Glad I’ve found a likeminded person! I used to live in a Condo with a weekly garbage pickup in a giant pile at the road... soooo many ppl in our condo threw away perfectly good items. Furniture, video game consoles, perfectly adequate electronics, and my best “dumpster dive” was an antique wedding gift of fine silver cutlery. The cutlery box was wooden and everything was there and not even tarnished! Made a good penny on that one!
wow, now we are likeminded! I got all excited just reading your story! Love it! I really want to do that sometime... actual dumpster diving! have been so busy, haven't gotten to yet. We should live closer together! LOL.
Praise the Lord🎉 Finally New ideas, you were right most videos out there are the EXACT same ideas 🦋 My husband was watching w me as we had our morning cup of coffee and we think your ideas are great !!! He gave me the thumbs up and wants me to set up accounts to start trying out trading n selling 😊 I also loved your tips about having your husband meet w the people and going to public places. I’m a tiny tiny girl and I wouldn’t want to risk meeting someone out to do harm ... 💕 Thanks for the awesome tips. And like I tell you in all the comment sections of your videos YOUR son is so so Cute I just want to squeeze those cheeks 🥰😆. Have a blessed day friend 💕
yay! Glad someone got inspiration from it! Best of luck! I hope it does well for you! You can do it! I will squeeze his cheeks for you! 😂 have a good one!
This was awesome! Like the way you explain things. 😊👍 Thanks for sharing 💗
Thanks for the tips, I really need this after 2 months of lockdown and 3 months of unemployment!🙏🏻💖
I hope you are doing ok. Tough times for many people right now.
You are just brilliant! I love watching ALL of your videos
why thanks! wasn't so sure about this one, lol
Enjoyed the video, even though I'm not gifted in resaling! My head would spin!! 😉Have 2 daughters that love it however!! 😍 Love Zanders enthusiasm!! Think he gets it honestly! 😍
Yes, I know it's not the most fun reselling to people, I don't enjoy that quite as much, but I do enjoy the process. Thanks for watching!
I love your video . You explained all of it so good. My husband buys and resales and trades things all the time for a side thing.
thank you! that's interesting!
Very informative post! I had no idea how Amazon worked even though I've used them numerous times! Love your videos and am always happy when I get a notification from you. Sending prayerful thoughts your way, God bless you all!
I'm glad you enjoyed! I wasn't sure about it! LOL. Thank you once again for being here!
It was amazing YOU are amazing !! Having become disabled and not being able to create the art I used to these ideas really are helpful and most importantly ~ hopeful!!
I think I may be a sister . A Canadian sister lol. You are my kind of weird , quirky, wise and bursting with love. You have no idea how much spending time with you is a way God is healing my heart.
Aww thank you. Would love to meet you, lol. Hope you can find something for income.

you're welcome! Best of wishes!
Great video! Thanks for the tips! What a blessing you are husband (a true helpmate) as I’m sure he already knows 😀
Omg. I absolutely love you! lol
I’m an odd individual as well. No warnings necessary. 😂
LOL, glad to have more odd birds here with me!! cheers!
Thanks so much for sharing! This video is an answer to my prayers. I have been thinking about the last point lately, but did not know how to proceed. Thanks for explaining the process. Will look into that! Again, thanks and the Lord bless you and keep you!
most definitely! I cannot caution enough not to skimp on the research process. sign up for some research engines specifically designed to help. Check out Seth Kneip on youtube. he's amazing!
@@theMennoniteMom I definitely will!!
Great ideas! I found your channel from Meagan Fox. I love making crafts and for about 10 years I sold my items in front of my house. I lived in the city and across the street from a dry cleaner so the ladies would come over after they picked up their clothes. I averaged 700 to 800 dollars a month and I only set up on Saturdays during spring, summer and early fall. I got a lot of custom orders, esp during Christmas holidays. It was loads of fun and I loved meeting new people.
good for you! what an wonderful way to make money, and a convenient location as well!
Those words are very worthy ...thank you
thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing! Trading is awesome! There are lots of things one can do to make money, (especially when you look into it!). Find a need and fill it. Find a problem and fix it. Be creative, be passionate, know your stuff, and always err on the side of generosity. God never fails to bless the generous person. Like David said, "I have been young, and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." Sewing, adjusting and mending clothes is something that could be a good thing for someone to take up. Teaching others things that you know or are really good at is also worth lots. Even simple things like baking fresh bread every week and selling it. You might be surprised how many people would bite that! You don't need lots of customers, just ones that love your stuff and keep coming back because they know your quality and honesty.
amen to everything you said! I had mentioned a few of those things, too, but my video was getting too long so I cut it out. Sounds like you have a passion for using your talents! Way to go!
@@theMennoniteMom Maybe we could use a part 2? Or 3 or a series lol sorry just love your content!
These are wonderful and real tips, thanks
I have just discovered your channel yesterday and I am addicted lol! I adore your little family! We live in the south and the restaurant, Cracker Barrel is very popular here. Well ironically after I discovered your channel we went out to eat and there was 2 Mennonite families eating at the same time we were and it was so difficult for me not to go speak with them!
I spent several months in Ohio where it’s predominantly an Amish community. Horse and buggy, hats, beards; all of it. And I have to say spending time around the Amish / Mennonite people was some of the best months of my life! Absolutely beautiful land with canvas skies that only God can paint! ❤️
Aww, welcome! So honored to have you here! (: Mennonites love Cracker Barrel 🤣🤣🤣 you should've said hi. I'm sure they wouldn't have minded. Cheers!
NJ Family - Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us! Next time I see them I’m definitely going to say hello! 🥰
G
Love your channel. Been thinking of doing something online. Thanks for sharing, it gives me a lot to think about.
best of wishes!
Very informative. Thinking outside the box is a good thing!! I found your channel by accident and I am subscribing. I appreciate how you get to the point and your friendliness. Thank you for sharing. And, by the way, your son is absolutely adorable. Being a Granny now, I just wanted to give him a big hug, he is so cute. Blessings to you all.
thank you! and welcome! so honored to have you here!
You’re unique ...not odd! ❤️
thank you! 😉
This will be super helpful because I’m disabled can’t work and my wife has to take care of me and our 3 daughters.
God bless you and your family! I hope you can do well at whatever you try!
I really enjoyed this…number four and five were very fascinating to me! Some new ideas to think about-Kris
glad you enjoyed! best wishes with your endeavors!
Your little boy is adorable! I recently attended an online Usborne Books baby shower. Mama-to-be chose her favorite titles and we bought them for baby. It was easy and fun, with various price points for everyone's comfort. You've inspired me to get busy, photograph and list the stuff I've accumulated to sell on Marketplace so that we can upgrade our guest bed from full to queen for a former pastor and wife's visit in July! I always feel better about spending when I contribute financially. LOVE your videos; your camera work is outstanding and girl, you have personality! Blessings!!!!!
thanks, Rhetta! That Usborne shower sounds like a great idea! I like that! Well, best of wishes with your selling! I hope it all works out for you! You sound like a lovely person... keep up the hospitality! God bless!
Along the lines of the free section of craigslist, I know someone who gets old furniture and restores it that way, then sells the restored furniture. It takes a bit of work, but she is able to have an income and it keeps her busy.
that's a great idea! I've thought of that (but I'm too lazy)
Saw nothing odd about you at all. LOVED your reading to your son. I try to be very expressive/animated when reading to the grands. Reading is one of the better joys in life. Thanks for sharing.
thanks so much! Good for you! Reading is something I need to do more myself!
What a bunch of wonderful ideas thank you for sharing and I love the collaboration that you did with Megan Fox. Also I really love the pattern of your dress. Not sure if you've mentioned it before but do you make your own dresses or do you purchase them from someone? I've been looking into either making or purchasing some cape dresses I really like the style but have never tried them before. Thank you for sharing.
yes, I do make my own. I have a video coming up on how to sew a dress (start to finish) not sure when it will get published. possibly two weeks or so. I will try to have links on that video to places you could buy dresses. Cheers!
Megan Fox sent me! ❤️❤️ I just subscribed to you as well! You are so funny💕
welcome! So honored to have you here!
Love this video! Great ideas!👍
You are SUCH a go-getter! I'm just inspired by your will to learn and solve problems/big projects many would delegate/avoid. It's almost like second-nature to you to diy, from solving electrical wiring to constructing wooden structures to acting + dramatizing your videos, to taking really professional photos, to running an Amazon business AND raising a happy child! Wow! Ofc, you, like anyone is still human and has weaknesses, but you really prove that you can overcome a lot with cheer and God's firm help!
Yes I'm quite human. I struggle with keeping my patience with an energetic little boy that is a tornado with everything he encounters. Lol. And much more weakness but thanks for the kind words. I love trying new things I guess (:
I wish I could think of something to sell on Amazon!!!
(: lots and lots of research. it's the hardest thing about selling on Amazon!
You have seriously piqued my curiosity!! I’m always thinking of ways to make a little extra $$ and am terrible with sales but love the research and business side of sales.
maybe you should study into Amazon! (: I'm super happy with it, but I do realize that I got lucky on my first product. It's not always that way. I'm with you, love the business side of things...
Love these tips!! I have considered a lot of these and it was so fun to hear someone who has had some success with them! God has given you a wonderful "business mind"! So creative.
thanks! Well good luck in trying some out! I hope it works well for you! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing! I love your videos! You're an amazing woman! ❤
you're welcome!
Just wanted to say you are amazing :) I wish you lots of success and hope you never stop having fun with it!
thank you so much!
You have really made some great deals! You are really a sharp little cookie! Really enjoy your videos. Wish I was younger to benefit from all this. I wish you much success in the future. Give Xander hugs and kisses for me!😊😊😊😊
thanks! (: you can always start no matter your age, lol. I will kiss him for you! We are in Oregon as I type this, and I'm catching up on computer work while he's wiggling and talking to himself in his crib when he should be asleep!
The way you flipped the box onto the floor 🤣❤️ no matter who, what, where we live, we’re all a lot more alike than we think. I don’t know why that’s what caught my eye, but it had me rolling! Those sleeves look fantastic btw, god bless you and your family hun!
lol, that's halarious. I had no idea what you were talking about, so had to go back and watch. Thanks for watching!
NJ Family it’s exactly what I would have done🤣
Great video! They were all very interesting. The last one was well! Love your dress. It's so modest and feminine 👗 Greetings from
The Netherlands
Hello to the Netherlands! Thank you kindly! Hugs to you!
Trading items/services still falls under the IRS barter rules and from a business income and tax reporting standpoint you would use the fair market value of the item/service exchanged. The barter rules are designed to prevent people from claiming they made no/less money and avoid paying taxes. Of course for lower income individuals, especially those with children, using the barter rules and properly accounting for income could provide a tax benefit particularly when it comes to the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Of course in your particular examples of "trading up" (offering a low-dollar value item for a high-dollar item) can put you into having a taxable gain if you aren't also tracking the basis of the items you are trading. Plus, if you are filing a Schedule-F for farming income you would want to determine and record the basis of the equipment/vehicles entered into service that were acquired through trade. You mention that the 3-wheeler was used on the farm to tow items, which means it was a farm asset you could have depreciated as part of your Schedule-F on your taxes. The other items traded would generate a Schedule-C profit/loss depending on their basis and (FMV) Fair Market Value as if you were buying and selling for cash.
That point-&-shoot camera at 14:45 may have been worth $30, but what did you pay for it? Let's say you originally bought it for $80 when you first got it. Though this is technically a "loss" since the value of the camera is lower than the basis of what you paid, the "loss" is not deductible unless it was part of your inventory for a reselling business you are also running.
Your basis in the Netbook is $30 (the FMV of the camera). Let's say the Netbook was worth $200 at the time of the trade for the camera, but only worth $100 when you trade it for the rifle. That's $100 FMV - $30 basis = a $70 gain, and your basis in the rifle is $100 because that was the FMV of the Netbook.
Let's say the rifle was worth $250 at the time you got it, but only $150 at the time you trade it for the dirt bike. That's $150 FMV - $100 basis = a $50 gain, and your basis in the dirt bike is $150 because that was the FMV of the rifle.
Let's say the dirt bike was worth $900 at the time you got it, but it blew the top end, you didn't you didn't replace the engine so it was only worth $750 at the time you traded it for the 3-wheeler. That's $750 FMV - $150 basis = $600 gain, and your basis in the 3-wheeler is $600, because that was the FMV of the dirt bike, but you spend $200 to have a reinforced towing hitch welded to it and that make your total basis in the 3-wheeler to $800. Since, the 3-wheeler was entered into service as part of the farming operations you would depreciate the $800 over the next 5-years. Let's say you used the 3-wheeler for exactly 1 year before you traded it for the boat. Under straight-line depreciation one year's worth of depreciation expense is $160 and so the FMV of the 3-wheeler, which becomes the basis for the boat, is $800 - $160 = $640
Let's say the boat's FMV is $1000 at the time you trade it for the Vespa. That's $1000 FMV - $640 basis = a $360 gain, and your basis in the Vespa is $1000 because that was the FMV of the boat.
When you sold the Vespa for $2000 (in this example) that would be a gain of $2000 sales price - basis = a $1000 gain. Lets say of that $2000 in cash, $200 was left over and you paid $1800 for the 4-wheeler and for simplicity you did this in the first week of January.
Come tax time you would report $70 (gain from Netbook) + $50 (gain from rifle) + $600 (gain from dirt bike) + $360 (gain from boat) + $1000 (gain from the Vespa) for a total of $2,080 of Schedule-C income (minus associated expenses) and you would be able to deduct $360 each year for the next 5 years on your Schedule-F farming income as long as you don't trade/sell/dispose of the 4-wheeler before the 5th year. If you're conducting a reselling business, then the $2,080 in gains from the trades would be added to the cash sales on the Schedule-C.
I know there's a lot of people out there that don't bother (and actually avoid) properly tracking barter income because of potential taxes. The advantage of tracking and reporting that income with the rest of sales income is that when it comes to bank loans and creditors your ability to repay looks much better and they are potentially more likely to approve loan/credit applications. So, if someone has an selling business that reports an average of $20,000 in net cash sales (but also an average of $10,000 in unreported barter every year on a regular basis), the $20,000 doesn't look as good as when the barter is reported on taxes and the bank is looking at $30,000 in average yearly income when weighing your ability to repay.
Thanks a lot for this video! I have lately thinking so much of making a little bit of extra money, and you really motivated me to! I am in to sewing but can't decide what i should sew that people would like to buy, and i also would like to buy and sell! But i guess i have to step more out of my comfort zone! You made me dreaming more, applaud for you! From a Mennonite Mom to a Mennonite Mom! God bless you and your family!!!!
thanks so much and best of wishes with whatever you choose to do! I know buying and selling takes a unique personality, and it doesn't go well with everyone. You have to really enjoy it... God bless!
I love crochet and crafts.
Omgosh your son is just adorable. Love your videos.
thank you! (: we love him!
This is a great video. Thank you so much for sharing.
glad you enjoyed! thanks!
Yayyyyy, my two favorite ladies on youtube colaborated! That was super interesting. I think, I might try trading. Thank you :-)
let me know how you do! Would love to know! Good luck! and get out your patience! LOL
Loved all the information!! Thank you soooo much
Love the tips.... Amazon selling is intriguing to me! Thanks!
good luck! just make sure to do lots of research! It's a bit risky but so worth it if you can nail it! (:
A lot of great tip. I loved the Red Vespha . My husban just bought a 4 wheeler. It didn't even work. With in a week he put parts in it and now it is worth so much more. It works.💕 NonnaGrace
Good for him! I've always admired mechanics and how they can make things work again!
I like the perspective on tradeing out of your niche. Useful. I sell on amazon. 😆 Stay at home moms rock!! Glad I found your channel. I havent looked closely, do you have any videos on home remedies? Dont know if you use a traditional doctor or not? Curious.
Good for you! It's great to meet fellow Amazon sellers! (: GO SAHM! No, I don't have any videos like that... I do try to use natural products when I can, but we do use traditional doctors as well.
You may want to try to find a physician who uses both perspectives ...Traditional medicine and natural approaches...My husband is an Internist and a lot of drs are learning more to go this route especially when it comes to eating Organic non-GMO and the roll our diet has with our health
Wow never heard some of these. New sub. Here from Megan Fox Unlocked.
cheers! welcome here it's an honor to have you!
Hello! I arrived here from Megan 's channel.
I think you are a lovely, smart woman, and have a can do attitude!
Thank you for sharing some smart ideas!
I watch a channel on UA-cam called: Amy Maryon, and she also loves the "Norwex" line of cleaning essentials! She uses them and even shows herself using the products. She does not sell Norwex though.
welcome! honored to have you pop on over! that's interesting! yes, Norwex has great products!
Such good suggestions.
Thanks for sharing.
you're welcome!
I really love your channel! I learned how to crochet from my grandmother. Now I sell crochet dog and cat toys, plus some other things. I don't make a lot of money, but as you said, as a stay at home mom, a little is worth it!! Thank you for sharing such great ideas!!
Good for you! that is a great idea! Way to go!
That's interesting:) I also sell some crocheting. Handtowels, washcloths, Doilies, etc.
I am looking into selling books. I found a couple books that sold well, like $10 and I got it $1 at garage sale or library book sale. These were vintage YA books. Most of my books haven't sold.
Again, perfect example of the current day Proverbs 31 woman...this is teaching todays woman how to serve her Lord and family by taking advantage of todays opportunities. Well done my dear!
thanks, Sarah! I hope it can inspire others... the opportunities we have today are a true blessing!
The most helpful and unexpected was the trades. Never thought of it and I liked how you explained it.
thank you!
Love your tips! And yes, I agree so much, a great picture sells the product way way quicker than a bad picture if I'm reselling something. We bought an old house to tear down and build storage buildings in its place. Anyway, the old house had appliances and heater in it and I ended up making $1000 off of it.🙂
fun fun!! It is so fun and feels so rewarding, doesn't it?! way to go! that's a lot of cha-ching (: at least to me!
I am very impressed. thanks for sharing
you're welcome!
Very helpful video, thank you!
Great ideas! I currently have a lot of stuff around my house that I don't need, some of it never taken out of the box! 😊
there you go!
Your son is so cute and funny 😁 Osbourne books are the best kids books, they love them.
thanks! yes, they are great books!
Oh and once I was offered a tattoo in exchange for antiques. I thought it was hilarious 😂
that one is too funny! There was one in our area that would promptly message me the same thing every time I posted something new. LOL. No thank you!
Thank you so much for this life info, you are great!
you're quite welcome!
First, He is so cute I can't stand it!
Those books are precious.
😂😘
Thank you for sharing, coming from Megan’s channel, your son is adorable
thanks for stopping by!
I am quite enjoying all your videos! Keep up the great work :-)
thank you so much!
It is so cute how excited your son got about getting new books. He loves to be rewd to. I am so happy that you read to him. I read to my kids starting when they were still in the womb and they kived to read and did well in school.
Yes, I don't read to him as much as I should. You are right! It is a very good thing to do! Good for you!
Zander is adorable. Thank you for the tips mom💖💙
you're welcome!
Great video! New subscriber here and I've wanted a Vespa for soooooo long, but not any extra $$$ to ever purchase one. Years ago, I read about someone starting with a really small item, maybe it was a nice writing pen, but he ended up with something really nice by continuing to trade up.Thank you for the tip about trading out of the item category. I have so many things I could trade and I'm going to start researching today! God bless you
yay! I wish you the best! Let me know how you make out!
Mom was a stay at home mom who also worked for a Christian organization full time and homeschooled us 3 girls. It was good to have the 2nd income bc dad was often out of work.
