Finally someone made this video!! The concept behind "seal clubbing" or "farming" is part of what is splitting our community, i think seal clubbing is acceptable and its just another "way of life" of playing the game, but iv seen a lot of people using it in a way to boost their alter ego or using it as a scale to being a skilled player and it drives me nuts because it does nothing to beneifit the game and only that persons padded numbers. Countless times I have seen buddies and have seen new players drop the game due to simply having their confidence being completely destroyed by someone who farms KDR hours on end 7 days a week non stop on top of the fact of a pre-existing issue of how you put it "a reason to fight". Sure i might be complaining, but can anyone relate to how hard it is to tell someone new coming in to the game you love that they should give the game more patience and they will die a lot before getting a grasp of the mechanics because this game is brutal to new players. But from uneventful fights and a dying simulator, it would drive any new player away. Im not saying people shouldn't be seal farm jerking, but to show more guidance and be humble about it, iv met some pretty damn good players that destroy me and a good amount are actually really nice if you send them a tell asking for advice. But there are also brutally arrogant people out there with an ego they to need to fix and unfortunatly a lot of those kinds of players are still playing.
A great issue for this community, indeed. But most people are like this and, we may try and show them that what they are doing is "wrong" to an extent, but you can hardly expect them to change, cuz people hate changes. Its an issue that plagues most of people (and im not thinking about gamers but humanity as a whole). What we can do, as people who see the issue, is be the opposite of them and show the productive way of thinking, rather than being toxic and just boosting your ego (and thus contribute to a longer life of the game that we love).
I think it's an offshoot of the "salty vet" problem, where these completely bitter and disillusioned players are just demolishing newcomers to make themselves feel better, and are actively hoping to drive them off in order to make the game fail so that they can say "that's what you get for not catering solely to me". Honestly, we'd be better off if those people just left.
@@TheRogueWolf While thats a good theory, I'd also like to propose that toxic players do this because their real life is so terrible, that they need the escapism of a power trip and ego boost.
Agreed on all points. To date, one of my fondest moments in the game involves one of my first experiences in Hossin - A TR LA and my own rocket propelled spandex ass had the same idea and took our fighters to the same unattended NC base. Population was low enough that reinforcements weren't going to catch up any time soon. ...And this guy danced me in half. We had a minutes-long duel weaving through the trees and buildings until he finally completely denied me. So I sent him a tell saying how impressed I was with his moves, and he shared some tips on positioning. Before finding me elsewhere and shooting me in the face like a boss. Not every fight needs to be like that, of course, it'd be damn boring. But of all the things that guy taught me, the most important was the attitude he showed. The people who brag about seal clubbing need that freaking Tango Assault's advice more than I ever did.
Y lanes seem to be pretty common on Briggs; you know, rest of the map being locked down save three lanes. Most battles will just end up being NC and TR going ham while the VS send the embodiment of the Red Baron to own the skies, lmao.
I don’t have a nemesis for my enemies aren’t deserving of names or recognition liberty or death! Lol jk but I don’t really pay much attention to who’s who
Thank god someone else understands what noobs go though, I remember starting and getting recked every time I tried anything. But then I realized how easy it is to kill people if you just play smart. I don’t like that though, people abuse this and it turns away new players.
I am a fan of Cyrious, but LEXSTEEL has taught me a lot in his stream, he told me about lowering my sensitivity, how to 1v1, how to defend a base while waiting for reinforcements and much more. AC and FCRW have won many even playing field tournaments. However, being Max farmed is nothing compared to being heavy farmed. I main medic and I'd rather fight several heavies at a base than one Max main.
One thing that people FORGET,it`s game and to be ENJOYED,weather your part of a high skill, coordinated squad or just a casual player,HAVE FUN. And 100% of players are AMATEUR.
Speaking as a relatively new player, it's a bliss watching this (before you hit that critical 600 hour mark). Really helps steering your gameplay towards more productive methods. Great video!
Thank you for making this video. I’ve had the game for about a year now and I really enjoy playing it I play solo because of the part of the world I live in So I get smashed some times but I till enjoy it. I agree with pretty much everything you stated in this video. again thank you for making this.
I am very excited about new heavy asssault guide video. I myself am main HA, spending a lot of time creeping around huge battles and sniping/fighting vechicles with lancer.
would you be able to make a guide on how to lead a squad effectively? I.e knowing what fights to take part in and what fights to leave? I have a lot of trouble with the former.
I think "Facilities Captured"/"Facilities Defended" is a misleading stat. A lot of the time when you're defending, the point gets tapped, you get it tapped back, and the timer goes full and you get a "Defend" but the whole assault is really still happening. This especially happens in small scale engagements a lot. Like, when you assault a base, you might fail to hold the point multiple times until you finally can hold it, and this 1 battle gave the defenders maybe 4 "facilities defended" and 1 hidden "facilities lost" count, while it gave the attackers 1 "facilities captured" A better way would be to count the kills you made as part of an assault or a defense, but I guess the game doesn't do that. And then there's the whole rolling battle that makes planetside so great where you drive the enemy out of your base only for it turn into a tank-infantry battle that slowly moves its front line towards the enemy base, like a sort of pushing match that you just dont have in other games. Again, depending on how you count the kills it can be misleading. I main as a sunderer driver (yes really, that's a thing now, I'm making it a thing) so attacking bases really is my thing as Sunderers aren't really good at defense or taking out other Sunderers (Thats what I got Tank mines and a death wish for) So I do many even futile attacks just to distract the enemy from a more important battle or just to get away from the zerg (which I loathe) and I generally play very, very, very aggressively and I don't farm as a principle. Killing people is useless if they can respawn seconds later. The true power lies in modifying how and where people spawn. The most obvious example is killing Sunderers, but Cyrious mentions "driving off" farming players by putting them down, and that's another, more subtle example. Attacking a different base would be another, it lures the farmers there and gives the zerg more breathing room. Still, even with this hyperaggressive play, I only have like a 0.6 ADR. But when I defend, which I do a lot as well, I immediately go kamikaze on the enemy sunderers. So now I'm getting "Defense" ticks even for being suicidally hyperaggressive. I suppose the only reason I have a good KDR is because I occasionally get to farm the infantry coming to take out my well equipped Sunderer (which I also defend, when I'm not on point, shotgun in hand). But even when defending the Sundy, most of the time I have my repair tool out trying to keep the Sunderer alive as rando gunners get the actual kills. When will us repair bots start getting credit for kills done by people that are being repaired or have recently been repaired by us while they're in our friggen vehicles? But I digress. The true measure of skill is up to individual. You are merely pointing out how KDR is phony, a bad measure in your opinion. ADR or HSR, they all are, they are individually chosen metrics. For me it's "how often does your team win the engagement", and recently I've started to just hover a stealthy scout radar valkyrie in cover while giving every friendly on the map near-perfect radar vision of where the enemy is coming from and moving to. It's shitty SPM even in massive fights, but it acts as a huge force multiplier for everyone on the map, while letting me spawn in squadmates at tactical locations and setting waypoints at the same time. Depending on who I'm with, I'm not always convinced it wouldn't be better to just pull a heavy and start pwning faces. Occasionally, when you have a squad of low BR players, they just can't breach a capture point without you, so then you have to pull a MAX and have them form up on you just so they move as a group around you instead of getting individually picked off not knowing where to go, so I figure I have to get some more MAX practice time in. I always avoided this because MAXes always felt too "farmy" but I can see the value of giving clueless randos something visible to rally around.
Planetside Arena will be a great opportunity to train your skill (aim, precision) for the PlanetSide franchise . And after some months of training PSA players should come to Planetside 2 ;)
As a new player, I can tell you three things: 1. Holding down a defense or attacking slowly with a heavy assault is funs, despite my below 1 KDR 2. Fighting Recursion is gay 3. Recursion aim is nuts and is also of The Gay This has been my review of this video; feel free to disagree and tell me Y -Yeti
I wholeheartedly agree with the ideas behind this video, however the game doesn't reward you for skilled play, it rewards you for farming. You progress in game and unlock stuff by going to a biodome and getting tons of kills/revives, not by outplaying good opponents
Picked up the game again a few months ago and was shocked at how hard it was... then went from a 0.4 KDR to now about 0.9 with a 0.44 ADR and I'm really proud to be the person to challange those seal clubbers
I play medic with 1.1 kdr and a 0.66 adr. I find the objective play to be where ive had the best expiriences and memories, Its why i originally fell in love with the game
The gun you are using at around 7:56, how do you take people out from that far? I have the same gun, but its cone spread is horrible? Are you using any special upgrades for that gun?
That is an SMG, a jackal. I am way outside its effective range. But any weapon aiming down sight can be pretty accurate, you just have to account for drop. I am not using any upgrades that increase the weapons range, I use the softpoint ammo and the laser sight which are both for close range. But if you do aim down sight and hold still, it keeps the cone pretty small. I do not recommend engaging at that range though when it can be avoided.
I seem to have been misunderstood. I do like the intro music, and I think it’s perfect for his channel, but what I don’t like is when he loops it together in that mismatched end-to-start fashion. It gets really hard on the ears hearing it more than once in a row.
I remember i was sniping Mao tower from the hill near Mao techplant spawnroom and i got this BR10 ish tr engie a couple of times in his ai mana turret i told him if you are triying to countersnipe you the best way is using a bolt action rifle whit your infiltrator then i got him again but he hits me in the face whit his semiauto after that he kills me from the spawnroom whit the cheap bolt action tr rifle he just bought they learn so fast.
Great video as always Cyrious!!! I've started recording myself playing about a month ago and i'm still at a low BR but still thanks to all your videos my "field awareness" has increased a lot. And it shows lots of the situations you often illustrate in your videos. it's not (yet) great gameplay, but when the stars are right and i roll with the right platoon it makes for a fun experience, Miller every once in a while still has some huge fights. Would you suggest putting those videos online and if yes in what form?
Footage of yourself can be used for self analysis, that is the most useful part. If you want to upload to create a catalogue of your play feel free, but I think that is more about if you find it fun to edit videos.
Got a question - how does running in a vehicle impact your ADR? Not that many vehicle points outside. Or much to do with a vehicle (except for shooting other vehicles/farming infantry)
Vehicle players certainly have to analyze their stats differently. But you will still get captures and defenses if you are in the area, dont have to be on point.
@@CMDRCyrious This might be quite interesting to think about for AA, they operate on entirely different premise than the rest of vehicles (I'm inclined to say the rest of playerbase)
I need help my PC has 4GB of RAM and the processor is a Intel Pentium and my planetside almost crashes Everytime I try and get into a battle what would I need to do to get it to run a bit smothered at least to the point we're I can fight and help my faction on the battlefield
I think it would be good to touch on tank play, once heavy guide is out, people need to learn how to respect other drivers and how to manuver correctly to have a good tank fight. btw love the vids
I like the first part talking about shooting better. I for sure feel much more skilled landing headshots on a heavy (om a medic/engie main) who are juking and dodging on me. I'm not a good player so it's a small victory
I'm still waiting for you to clear up some misconceptions you have expressed a bunch now you should clear them up here's something that's not a misconception. The guy who can get a ton of kills while staying alive for long periodswho has to keep resupplying ammo because he kills so much she runs outand causes mayhem and mischief all around to giving battle is an excellent player skilled talented whatever word you want to use eman if he or she is not strategically accomplishing the objectives you wish him to accomplish
I just want to say 1 thing: Movement is also part of skill, if you can position yourself in a good position where you can kill a lot of enemies it can also be very usefull for your team. Other than that I agree with 90% of your points so good video :)
Totally agreed, people doing dumb suicideing isn't skill. But just making sure you have a spawn room at your back doesn't equate to positioning skill either.
i became a PS2 addict because of your videos and now i'm ASP on my VS main. You said something that is been catching my attention lately as i notice people on Connery complains a lot of recursion players who often smurf and farm low BR players. I believe it should be made clear through some advice panel or voice acting that you will be fighting against the most skilled and experienced players from the start, so new players won't get discouraged by getting outclassed by people with more experience. i realized many people tends to believe PS2 is your average shooter where you just run around and shoot stuff, however the game depths should be made clear in the training and through system advice, or at least that's what i think.
Well I just found my new favorite gaming UA-camr. I'm so glad to see someone point this out. Making a smurf or mowing down new players to get a +10 kdr doesn't make you a good player in any game! I haven't even started playing planetside yet but I see this ally he time in other games to. Just got out of playing apex legends because I keep finding high rank players making new accounts simple to play vs new guys so they can have an impressive KD when they rank up
As always love the vid, can you please make a video about the importance of map awareness and avoiding detection (i.e. not spotting enemies or reloading while using stalker cloaking because it gives the enemy audio cues etc). All the new people I've played with don't seem to know what motion sensor darts are and how important they are. They're essentially wall hacks!! But people don't know how to use it, and they were really upset when they kept getting taken out as a flanker LA or die while cloaked trying to sneak around. At least a third or more of my kills come from map awareness. Most new players have none. Another example, I hear gun fire, I look at the map, I see my friendly engaging an enemy and my friendly goes down, I know the enemy's relative position because the map revealed his location during the engagement with my friendly who went down, now I know that enemy is most likely not only injured, but also in the process of reloading that's how you play with map knowledge.
the easy part about heavys is not the shields , its the capability to kill multiple target without reloading like the other classes . If you get used to a certain weapon , even max units will run away from you if they see you. And using netcode to advantage is the only skill in planetside 2 you need. Main problem i see is that most players ,even veterans have a acuracy of 30% and no recoil controll at all
How do you get that voice audio when you do something cool like a double kill or headshot I play on PC i wanna know because well im new to the game and don't get alot of kills and I know that's not what planetside about but when I do get a kill and the audio triggers I could feel like I could repeatedly do it usually I get 3 kills a life then die but anyways this was a great video and I enjoy all your videos especially the infiltrator guide since im trying to master the class im on expert right now and that video really taught me how to play the class correctly thank you
This game is truly beautiful when there is great cohesion and teamwork! I love to get up into a squad and just strike quickly non stop haha hitting points defending and attacking can't beat that shit.
I absolutely agree! I'm an NSO main and I've been in quite a few squads, but the ones I've found most effective are players who know where to go, what to take, and win. And they communicate these too. Most of the time when I was in a platoon we won the continent. I doubt it was ONLY our platoon, but it makes me FEEL like I contributed to something larger
Is koltyr still locked once you reach br15? Haven’t played in awhile. I always thought that regardless, new players should not have access to the main continents until they “graduate” from koltyr. That might be enough to get new guys to stick around longer.
another thing, Arena might need Outfit Battles. A lot of existing outfits are gonna play Arena so having them square off (Pale vs Merc teehee) can be loads of fun and give new players basically a home
.301 ADR is pretty darn good man, sure room for improvement, but with that KDR, its a pretty strong combo. To me its farm away, just as long as you don't start thinking that is your best play. Sometimes your best play is dying on point with 10 seconds left on a cap.
5rng(nc), rest(vs),and 0000(vs) aka "recursion" are some of the other outfits that do this on connery. I know this as fact because i would not have even discovered this channel if wasnt for them trying to help players become better. 5rng (im in) has an outfit leader that will pull you aside and personally show you ways to get better based on your in-game time with him, 1v1s with him, and video footage you send him.
i have been playing this on ps4 recently i find i'm not afraid to go into a firefight i try to find a squad with mics preferably i follow orders and move
2:50 is based on the server, in several years on miller is almost imposible to have this scenario anymore, as soon as you do so, someone of the enmy team spots you and the other 4 guys aim you too, so RIP. can't do 4:21 anymore on that server since 3 or 4 years ago haha people just spot you in seconds. 5:40 i can mention several vanu clans on my server doing this. 6:50 the NC faction till i left the game, while tr had a good number of players NC only cared about KDR and left battles as soon as they were losing them. You are so right at this topic, sadly i have no time to play this game anymore, but i use to be the kind of player who encourage my faction to fight, threatening the enemy factions throught the yell, and telling to new players how to play better. I was at the front line ,yelling all the time to encourage people to take the flanks and move, we , the beta players started the "suicide mosquito" to blow enemy spawnpoints and create confusion, so the rest of the faction could advance. 11:40 I was an amateur too! and i leaded the charge every single time!, i started this game with a kdr of 6 and now i think i am 1.5, but i always defend the thing to the death, i attack with no remorse, i do the "kill or be kill" thing, thats why my game is more like a resurection sumulator than a shooter, because people changed their game style, instead of leading the charge, they have choosen the confortable. 14:00 as i said, sadly i don't have that much time to play anymore, so i let them win, because these people, at least the ones on my server, they live in the game, 24/7 i know several clans that only gank people in small bases and as soon the battle escalates they dissapear... and they finally won, they are the only people playing the whole day, and the smaller the game gets, because people burns out, the easier they have it to make this behaviour. In old days , like 5 years ago we as a faction, had the numbers to combat this, but now.. idk man. I always thought that the game encourages this kind of players, since so little of this people are other class than HA, is rare to see a medic doing this. I mastered the LA and Medic 2 years ago and i know what i am saying. Sorry for this block of text bro, but i always have something to say, hey i have 2khours on this game haha. A thing i would like to see in a guide is how to improve the conection to the game, i think it was my major problem, since as TR i felt that my bullets were desync all the time, so a good guide about how to set the LAN,WAN,PORTS everything to reduce this problem would be great, i couldn't find a full, new and detailed guide on the net about this topic. and again thank you for uploading content of the game i've played for so long and i learned to love/hate HAHAH
@@CMDRCyrious play as the NC and im only at br 25 and i mostly play solo (cause the group im in isnt always on when i am) but i have 47 caps to 76 defense so i dont know how good that is in your eyes as a veteran player
Always love a 1v1 fight. Not sure about ADR ratio since I tend to try to save ghost capped hex while the main forces are pushing especially from the sneaky VS. The worst scenario is mouse catching a solo infil.
Nice Jon Hallur again. I rarely play Heavy after getting The Butcher. I like to think of myself as a good player and K/D never enters my mind. I like to medic in a coordinated squad and that gives me more satisfaction.
After watching this I had to get the Stat tracker. Was very surprised when I looked at my stats. 334 Kills, 692 deaths. 0.483 KDR, 21.856% HSR. 100 V. Kills (What're those?) and 18.196 Acc. The HSR is what surprised me the most. I've been messing with mouse settings to find my sweet spot. You have more than the right mindset laid out in this viedo, loved it, and helped me reorient myself in game. Also the stats are from my 2 week old Emerald BR 25 TR. I cant bear to look at my 7 year old connery accounts.
Objective play is often the most frustrating, but in the end you can look back and be like "We did that... we beat a zerg down and took those bases. Sure my kdr is deader than a drowned rat but we made that difference." Slaughtering people is fun but if it doesn't get used to get to the objective why are you at the base? ^.^
Thanx to the advanced infiltrator guide from Cyrious I actually tend to mow down lots of players defending a point or a building so my friendlies can push. Problem is they dont know they can push and when they cant. Situational awareness is still lacking after 6 years of Planetside 2.
I play with a spec-ops squad and we generally are completely outgunned. Its rewarding even when we lose obj's cause we were able to hold out against 2x or even 3x our numbers
@@connors5543 Same. It's what we do. Strike force. Take or defend a base underpopped, save the new people. show them the glory of battling the odds. Then onto another base. #There'sAlwaysAnotherBase.
It's rare to see this kind of measured perspective in gameplay discussion, I missed it since I last was active in Warcraft's raiding community. I'm hoping to find some of what I lost from WoW here in Planetside. Especially taking part in that similar kind of leadership, teamwork and fulfilling roles.
Always love your vids, Cyrious. So, when we (my friend and I) always encounter being potentially "zerged" we'd just 180 our tactics. Like last night, instead of doing ground warfare, we did Valkyrie Hot Drops with C-4. Took us out of the main fight while still lending support. I know that means nothing to the Hardcore K/D'rs, BUT for those who are constantly stuck fighting against them, just try to have fun through different means.
Never really liked people fretting about stats in PS2. I have 1+ KDR only thanks to the fact that I'm a 50% tanking / 50% support infantry player, and that's what I enjoy doing. It's easy to log off with 70+ kills and 5 deaths when you never leave your lightning/MBT, that's for sure, and on the other hand, I have 0.5 infantry-only KDR with 70% playtime as engineer and 22% as medic, supporting my team in bases by reviving, cutting off enemy supply or holding positions. I'm not saying that what I'm doing doesn't require skill, but this is not the same skill that leads you to high KDR and HSR in fair fights. My stats are easily explained by where the bulk of my playtime is, but for me this ultimately makes KDR meaningless on its own. I do what I like, and I earn my stats doing exactly that, even if it's not what other players expect. And seeing the discussion in this video and comments below, I'm just reinforced in my opinion that KDR !on its own! is absolutely meaningless in general in this game.
5:30-6:00 srsly this is what i was wondering about for the past few days. So many people are like this and, as you say, these toxic players have been the biggest obstacle for this game to succeed. Imagine being one of those new players and just get dumped on constantly on a small fight by these players. I think that is one of the reasons why many people leave cuz they get frustrated. Planetside Arena solves that 7:30-7:50 and so many are like this too. Don't you hate when you have equal pop on a base and half of your forces is stationed in spawn room trying to defend their kd (aka. kd whores) and get maybe 5 kills max from that (and thus doing so lose the base). And then they cry how THEIR faction is shit or the other ones are OP? Before i figured this out i only thought that most people don't have any balls to fight, cuz they don't want to die for some reason, but then i figure that is cuz of the kd... Planetside Arena solves that 12:34 i always feel bad when i kill br20 or lower especially in a 1v1, so whenever i do it i send em a message telling them what they did wrong, tho i rarely get any response : | (i didn't think many people do this, but this is a great way to keep a newbie interested in the game) Planetside Arena solves that (>'-')> 14:00-14:17 point that should be taken by many vets PS: Does anyone else feel shit after they mop up BR 20 and lower players, especially in a 1v1? Planetside Arena solves that ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Frankly, there was a time when, I cared enough about the spawn-room 'warriors' that I'd issue warnings and inevitably, executions. Soldiers of the Republic were out there making a difference under my platoons or they were dead. The sad fact was it routinely had a detrimental effect that hurt my squads due to reprisals from the same sad fuckers, but there was something DEEPLY satisfying about capping the fuckers in the back of the head after giving them 15 seconds to leave the spawn room and be useful, or die. After all, I had told them the reason why and pointed out that pop-numbers were being wasted on their farm-whoring and I'd not tolerate it. Then, ironically after they get executed at the same time by me and my folks, they push out to find us and 'get even' and it's EASIER for them as we had already cleared the way to the point, and now we were fighting our own 'team' that was somehow, very, very upset about their one death - that inevitably became several more before the got the message.
The KD whores are the reason most fights are lost. They are part of the reason I tend to not play much anymore. We may or may not have the same playtime but when I actually know how to play and they only know how to hide in a room until the fight is over there is a massive difference between us. And then they try to claim they are better because of their k/d ratio...
@@thatsneakyneenja2595 @Terenin Completely true my friend. Im playing on TR cobalt since 2014, didnt play very frequently over those years but this year i played nearly every day. This year i began to improve my gameplay the most. When i figured how bad TR and players in general are i wanted to try and lead some folks in any way possible. Sometimes my squad with randoms would listen and thus we would have huge impact against uneven odds, but when they didn't id get really upset. Cuz i know we can win, but people just don't care about it as much as some of us (and sadly we are a minority). This game shines when it goes right, but most of the times it doesn't cuz people just care more about kd than wining. But i guess i can't blame em, after all they are having "fun" (but then why do they end up complaining for losing afterwards, if they don't care??).
You’re far better off asking a good infantry player about proper movement. You can always go the the #ask-the-mentors channel in the ps2 community discord because you’ll get guaranteed good advice from people who are known to be skilled in their domain of choice. If you don’t do that, go look at some of d3structions videos for examples of good movement
And thats why I loved building hive bases when that was possible, it forced people into working together and not just sit and stare down a staircase killing everyone coming their way for hours on.
For a video idea, I would suggest a guide of must-buy items, I introduced the game to a couple of friends recently and they were really confused about what to buy, especially because certifications are hard to get and you don't want to spend them on smth you wont end up using, and well, part of the community is bad but hey! that's what mmo are ;) Keep up the good work!
I once defended a base solo vs a sundy and a vanguard on foot via heavy assault and killed the sqaud inside the sundy and had to fight a couple jets idk what they’re called I’m relatively new I’m from rb6 diamond ps4 if ur curious whether my aim is there but I’m just not 100% sure on positioning in this game but in that fight I knew exactly everything to do from resuoplying by running inside to redeploy my kit and instead of waiting for them to atk I went out and killed them on foot when they tried to repair. The gun I used is the Obelisk
I have a siege ratio of 63.2 on my main, how does that compare to ADR and where did you find ADR? I can't find it on Dasanfall, BinaryCoder, Fisu, or Voidwell.
Siege ratio is the ADR. FISU lists relevant stats on the front page. You have a .631 ADR. That is a really good man, well done. You are head and shoulders above most. Your ADR, HSR, and Accuracy are all great. I am stunned your KDR isn't higher associated with those great stats, but a high ADR can drag the KDR down. Still you look good man, look super aggressive.
@@CMDRCyrious My KDR on my main is low due to historically bad positioning and life choices. Most of my new characters and normal sessions have me as a 2(verge of 3)kd med/ha .
Great video, and yes, farming is pretty lame and shameful. I know because I *used* to do it. I realized that a year ago and started playing the objective more. This resulted in an increased combat experience and yes, fun. Thank you Cyrious for making this video. I hope other seal clubbers/farmers will see this and play the objective more to challenge themselves.
One of the main issues is that "skilled" play is extremely pointless and unawarding compared to farming. The devs don't incentize skilled play and even organize farms themselves. Its common place not dp destrpy sundies anymore to prolong farms. Edit:100% ima keep on clubbing till they give me a reason to do anything else. Im not experienced enough to lead noobs and theres no point fighting above average players when a noob gets me the same amount of certs. Sry m8 but its sorta the only choice for a midway player.
Don't get me wrong. If someone taught me how to lead platoons Thats all id ever do. If someone made guides on squadplay for the new alerts id change my tune a little bit. Your explanations as to why people do what they do in this game is so fucking spot on!.
I get annoyed when sunderer's are destroyed at GOOD fights simply because they are so few and far between. Other than that I get pissed off because without me or someone of equal or greater skill camping the damn sunderer for the entire fight it usually gets blown up because only a handful of people know that the light assault exists.
"I need virtual good boy points in order to want to do anything at all" I see that often, do you mind if I ask how old you are? Think it's a generational thing.
Lol Cyrious, thanks for smacking the heavy clutches, I usually main light assault and can take down most heavies, but there always are those few who have dedicated themselves to high kd only play heavy experience. They don't realize that a high kd isn't helping the battle, they'd rather rush to the point and get kills rather than blow up a marked sunderer even if they definitely have the tools to do so.
i kill one heavy when i was a new and he had kill us relentlessly but i figure out he always came in from the back so when he came in i gave him a blast to the face he didnt even check the door before he got to us. and so he put a freaking bounty on my head and started spamming me in pm i didnt know how to reply
To players that are very experienced, farming certs and experience is worth little compared to kills and KD. What if killing extreme menace or bounty players credited them extra kills towards auraxiums and KD?
Yo just a couple of questions if you don’t mind. So seeing as planet side arena is coming out is it worth getting into planet side 2? I mean all of you content creators seem to be transitioning towards this new game so I’m thinking the player base might do the same. I’m all about fun but I also like spending my time well and if I’m gonna play this game for the next couple of weeks I don’t want it to be lost When planet side arena comes out. If I do like this game I will most likely play arena but this concept seems way cooler(massive mmo war, taking bases, etc..) planet side arena is just another battle Royale. Not that that is bad it’s just planet side 2 offers a unique experience it seems. So basically just wondering if you think ps2 will die when this “arena” comes out.
PS Arena is pay to play, so I think PS2 will continue on as long as that is a case, but I would expect some pop drop for arena. I honestly can't answer if it worth it till that drops.
On my heavy assault I use the adrenaline shield and the assimilate implant. When I kill someone, it returns shields to me through adrenaline shield. And assimilate gives me shields back when I get headshot kills.
I mean ADR has even less to do with skill than kdr, there isn't really any correlation. It's pretty self serving to try and announce that as any sort of skill metric. KDR is mostly determined by playstyle, best players don't have the highest KDRs, but it still takes skill to get high infantry KDRs in normal gameplay. The mentality you are displaying in this video is pretty much equally bad to people that think stats are an accurate represantation of anything.
I tried to iterate very well that no one stat is a tell all, be all stat. But I agree with you: Stats aren't an accurate representation of anything. Way to many variables in landing those stats to really know what they truly represent.
Well yeah the only way to know if a player is "good" is to watch them play, however people are obsessed with KDR because that's what the developers have begun promoting in the past couple of years. Everything is about kills when in a game like this it shouldn't be. It just shows how much outside influence other games have had on Planetside 2 as a whole, and how they've persuaded the developers to focus more on action rather than the strategy Planetside is known for. Now we just have an overglorified TDM that is a shell of what it used to be.
you know if youre playing infantry you have to accept that youre going to die to a br26 eventually hipfiring his shotgun slugs at 30 meters once in a while even if youre a good player 1 out of 10 deaths will still be to some random hipfiring shotgun slugs headshotting you or just people getting lucky and headshotting you, and 1/10 kills will be you getting lucky and the enemy missing shots he shouldn't have missed. ofc like killing new players is way easier but good defensive players that only farm noobs will just die to good attackers anyways, youre right that people who have like a offensive ratio of like 0.09 or whatever are really bad. Actually most people who have excess of one stat like ivi, or kd spawn shields people are bad. Even though I say that, I respect people that can pull a high kpm even if theyre dying a lot. Just be aware that not all infantry farmers are people that can only kill noobs and die to competent people, I run with only 50 frames so im pretty disadvantaged and I can kill most competent people as much as they can kill me, although there are a couple gods with 250 fps or even the same 50 fps as me that I can't beat. Meaning that even with 2 years of practice and being able to kill 80% of the enemy in a 1v1 I will still die to a noob every 10 deaths Also I too hate youtubers that call planetside 2 pay to win without doing any research. I guess what im trying to say is the part of your video that pissed me off the most is when you are saying "just target the stupid defensive shitters and kill them haha, then they will rage quit like the noobs they are" when hes using the daimyo aka the "very super high epic skill cap weapon" to kill some random defensive player that was br13. Like yeah the daimyo is very balanced and wrel is very smart when he designed that weapon. Most noobs magdump that weapon and get one kill per 3 rounds, respect to the good bolters that don't use that weapon and can get one kill every 1.1 seconds, but as much as I hate getting killed by daimyo I get killed by HESH and banshee and other stuff just as much, so at the end of the day just be aware that this game is about ruining other peoples days no matter how "bushido" you are, and new players and old players alike will kill each other hiding behind spawn rooms or fighting at defense with overpop. Other than that one clip of your video I really liked most of it and I try to challenge myself by attacking but I still do stupid cheesy stuff when I can like kobalt buses if im in the mood
Farming KDA is not only happened in Planetside 2. I play games like Battlefield, World of Tanks, Call of Duty,... and that kind of players is ruining the games. They don't working with others. I'm watching videos talking 'bout "How to be good in games" and they only discuss in the "Get kills" subject. In these games that acquires strategy like Planetside, BF,... that doesn't help new players improve their gameplay. I understand the point in your video and I love it. We need skilled player teach us how to play the game in correct way. Edit: Sorry for my bad English, still learning
You're doing it right. My main motivation for even turning on the game up till today have been to max out my medic directives. This tends to suck the fun out of things as i run around trying to find other medics to kill that either havent noticed me or have their pants down reviving a friend. Neglecting the battle lines and important territories for cert gain and stats. Those moments that bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye have been few and far between, its time to go out there and make more
A awesome guide is one for each continent where you go through each base and talk about the best way to attack each base. It's a lot of content if your not sure about what to make. And it'd be a awesome resource for new players if their struggling trying to attack.
Caseyman Yes. I’ve had an account since 2013 and a few hundred hours of gameplay but I’ve never learned anything outside of some bases are terrible to attack/defend. Many good leaders seem to know about the intricacies of every base and how to work with them and I’d love to lead more if I knew these tiny details.
Hey Cyrious I posted on your most recent video about how to make construction fun. I don't know if you read these or not but here goes. Here's my brilliant idea to solve these kinds of players. It require buy-in to the idea of having commanders from my other post. The com would need to have the ability to monitor the battle and that includes the killboards. Then the com has the ability to debuff (like a castable debuff) up to 10 players on the other side he identifies as the most dangerous. The debuff could do various things like slow down movement speed or effect recoil in some way (which could be very effective in messing up recoil scripts, if those exist). Something to handicap them to bring them down to an even level with the newbs. And for the seal clubbers; if a player logs out immediately on seeing they've been debuffed, the com gets a refund and the debuff stays on them if they log back in. So if you're a strong player, and you've been identified as a threat by the opposing com, you can take it as a badge of honor; you were so dangerous someone else on the other team picked you out to slow you down. And for that advanced player, well maybe it forces them to respond by adapting a different playstyle. If your gunplay is all messed up maybe you can contribute more to your team to your team by playing medic or bringing up sundys. (Edit: I also watched your video on the lore of planetside 2. To explain the debuff, well if you're constantly respawning you template is saved in the respawn software somewhere. So it's like a computer bug, and each time you get rebuilt with nanites the computer builds you with a genetic defect).
I'm on the weird side as someone that is awful at headshots, and loses duels like there is no tomorrow.. yet still try to excel at that. the rest is me helping the team with engineer, or pulling a MAX to try and purge a room of all life or lock down positions (which is ironically the one situation where i had found players that werent expecting a MAX just run towards me and die in droves). And while i work for the faction and try to answer it's needs... I'm more or less a solo player that expects the same from teammates, which can go south fast as a MAX player when no engineer shows up, no one switches even in the spawn room despite you asking for help, or (worst of all) engineers just ignore you to shoot people. All in all, my KDR is barely higher than 1... and what i blam the most for it isn't others, but my own willingness to be on the frontline, considering my death acceptable if taking hits helped the team.. and an utter inability to go for the head naturally in combat scenarios (while in VR i pull it out all the time)
Finally someone made this video!!
Great thoughts.
Briggs: everyone are either salty vets or mid to high BR players trying kill each other because the population is so low we all have a nemesis.
Y lanes seem to be pretty common on Briggs; you know, rest of the map being locked down save three lanes.
Most battles will just end up being NC and TR going ham while the VS send the embodiment of the Red Baron to own the skies, lmao.
Pavle Kobilarov the the vs bring out that bullshit op smg
Who?
Always glad to see more people espousing moderation, in a world where it's fashionable to be extreme.

2:17 i owe you a beer for this. Thank you for finally making it clear. I thought I was the only one thinking it.
Will try to get to leadership guides in the future.

This doesn't cover fully, but Cyrious does have a good playlist to start.

Where can I find the ADR? Ive never seen it (or seen it, but forgot about it)
You just compare your assaults vs. defenses and can see it.
@@CMDRCyrious omg im stoopid lol
Soooo, you can pad ADR by zerging?
I think "Facilities Captured"/"Facilities Defended" is a misleading stat. A lot of the time when you're defending, the point gets tapped, you get it tapped back, and the timer goes full and you get a "Defend" but the whole assault is really still happening. This especially happens in small scale engagements a lot. Like, when you assault a base, you might fail to hold the point multiple times until you finally can hold it, and this 1 battle gave the defenders maybe 4 "facilities defended" and 1 hidden "facilities lost" count, while it gave the attackers 1 "facilities captured"
A better way would be to count the kills you made as part of an assault or a defense, but I guess the game doesn't do that.
I perfectly understad the point of the video but as u said, people wont give a f*** and will keep farming as hard as they can
Planetside Arena will be a great opportunity to train your skill (aim, precision) for the PlanetSide franchise . And after some months of training PSA players should come to Planetside 2 ;)
As a new player, I can tell you three things:
1. Holding down a defense or attacking slowly with a heavy assault is funs, despite my below 1 KDR
2. Fighting Recursion is gay
3. Recursion aim is nuts and is also of The Gay
This has been my review of this video; feel free to disagree and tell me Y
-Yeti
I wholeheartedly agree with the ideas behind this video, however the game doesn't reward you for skilled play, it rewards you for farming. You progress in game and unlock stuff by going to a biodome and getting tons of kills/revives, not by outplaying good opponents
Picked up the game again a few months ago and was shocked at how hard it was... then went from a 0.4 KDR to now about 0.9 with a 0.44 ADR and I'm really proud to be the person to challange those seal clubbers
Right on man!
I play medic with 1.1 kdr and a 0.66 adr. I find the objective play to be where ive had the best expiriences and memories, Its why i originally fell in love with the game
.8 kdr with .64 adr. We're Planetside purists. I sacrifice my body even more for the objective.
@@CMDRCyrious, thanks.
Usually when I get frustrated in the game is when I’m in a battle where I die repeatedly I get pretty frustrated admittedly

Turn your settings down as low as possible, but it’s possible that your computer just can’t handle the game

*OpolE just here to say long live PLANETSIDE 1! (PSForever project)*
Agree or disagree, im enjoying the fact that the discussion about this is happening. Not many would be willing to start talking about this
i became a PS2 addict because of your videos and now i'm ASP on my VS main.
That is a really terrific idea!
A lot of good new player tips to cover you suggest here, I will try to get to them!
the easy part about heavys is not the shields , its the capability to kill multiple target without reloading like the other classes . If you get used to a certain weapon , even max units will run away from you if they see you. And using netcode to advantage is the only skill in planetside 2 you need. Main problem i see is that most players ,even veterans have a acuracy of 30% and no recoil controll at all
How do you get that voice audio when you do something cool like a double kill or headshot I play on PC i wanna know because well im new to the game and don't get alot of kills and I know that's not what planetside about but when I do get a kill and the audio triggers I could feel like I could repeatedly do it usually I get 3 kills a life then die but anyways this was a great video and I enjoy all your videos especially the infiltrator guide since im trying to master the class im on expert right now and that video really taught me how to play the class correctly thank you
It's from Recursion stat tracker, link to a video explaining how to set it up is in the description of my videos.
I had some fun playing infiltrator with stealth and such and using a CQC sniper it’s pretty handy
The way the game is played now many are not or will not take initiative, i'm not good but i contribute to my Platoon and squad.
Have you guys pre-ordered Planetside Arena? I want to pre order but im afraid that there wont be any Pop to play with .
I don't think you have to worry about pop. There will be enough at launch, don't know how long it will last, but it will be around a bit.
I did not pre-order, out of principle, I hate preorders.
Is koltyr still locked once you reach br15? Haven’t played in awhile. I always thought that regardless, new players should not have access to the main continents until they “graduate” from koltyr. That might be enough to get new guys to stick around longer.
Koltyr is available to everyone now, but there are no stats there. Can't gain experience there.
another thing, Arena might need Outfit Battles. A lot of existing outfits are gonna play Arena so having them square off (Pale vs Merc teehee) can be loads of fun and give new players basically a home
That would make the game even Moore like dust514 wich is the reason I love planetside 2 so much
I really agree with this. I have been guilty of all of this. I will try to change :( 2.854 KDR with 0.301 ADR.
.301 ADR is pretty darn good man, sure room for improvement, but with that KDR, its a pretty strong combo. To me its farm away, just as long as you don't start thinking that is your best play. Sometimes your best play is dying on point with 10 seconds left on a cap.
@@CMDRCyrious I've died on the point before with 2 seconds left :(
So quick question - where can you find your ADR? FISU and DasAnfall don't seem to display it.
Just compare your assaults vs defenses.
You are so right at this topic, sadly i have no time to play this game anymore, but i use to be the kind of player who encourage my faction to fight,
threatening the enemy factions throught the yell, and telling to new players how to play better.
I was at the front line ,yelling all the time to encourage people to take the flanks and move, we , the beta players started the "suicide mosquito" to blow enemy spawnpoints and create confusion, so the rest of the faction could advance.
11:40 I was an amateur too! and i leaded the charge every single time!, i started this game with a kdr of 6 and now i think i am 1.5, but i always defend the thing to the death, i attack with no remorse,
i do the "kill or be kill" thing, thats why my game is more like a resurection sumulator than a shooter, because people changed their game style, instead of leading the charge, they have choosen the confortable.
A thing i would like to see in a guide is how to improve the conection to the game, i think it was my major problem, since as TR i felt that my bullets were desync all the time, so a good guide about how to set the LAN,WAN,PORTS everything to reduce this problem would be great, i couldn't find a full, new and detailed guide on the net about this topic.
and again thank you for uploading content of the game i've played for so long and i learned to love/hate HAHAH
what website are you looking at to get those ADR statistics?
I use FISU or the players site. Just take Captures over defenses.

How do you check ADR? Its not on FISU to by knowledge.
Yeah front page of Fisu, Captures over defenses.
Why is it so smooth, do you have some kind of separate program for this? ot just new cpu ?
Some clips have smoothing on.
1.34kd and a .66ad. what would that put me at?
A point pusher who doesn't care about farming and wants to take territory for their team.
im in the same boat except im terrible at it .6kd and .8 adr i'll grant you though 30% of my time spent is in a sundy/valk/gal

@@Feyyore What outfit do you run with?
It's rare to see this kind of measured perspective in gameplay discussion, I missed it since I last was active in Warcraft's raiding community.
I'm hoping to find some of what I lost from WoW here in Planetside. Especially taking part in that similar kind of leadership, teamwork and fulfilling roles.
"Know how to move, know how to juke, etc."
Me a new player: Spins around in a panic and runs in senseless circles, somehow wins the gunfight.
2.061 KDR and .44 ADR. I play on PS4 so sadly there is only 1-2 good fights you can join at any given moment.
Planetside Arena solves that
7:30-7:50 and so many are like this too. Planetside Arena solves that
12:34 i always feel bad when i kill br20 or lower especially in a 1v1, so whenever i do it i send em a message telling them what they did wrong, tho i rarely get any response : | (i didn't think many people do this, but this is a great way to keep a newbie interested in the game) Planetside Arena solves that
(>'-')> 14:00-14:17 point that should be taken by many vets
PS: Does anyone else feel shit after they mop up BR 20 and lower players, especially in a 1v1? Planetside Arena solves that ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I always v5 any good player that I mop up for some banter but refuse to do it to new players.
@@FeedBunnies its always better not to dump on new players (let it be planetside 2 or any other game), they keep games alive! *thumbs up bro
Hi nice video, but are you going to make an Advanced Heavy Assault Training video?
Yes, that is the next video I am making.
can you make a video on how to move properly?
I will work on a movement video.
So what’s a good ADR with a KDR, I have a 2.3 KDR and a 27.3 ADR according to voidwell.com
Thats good man!
For a video idea, I would suggest a guide of must-buy items, I introduced the game to a couple of friends recently and they were really confused about what to buy, especially because certifications are hard to get and you don't want to spend them on smth you wont end up using, and well, part of the community is bad but hey! that's what mmo are ;)
Keep up the good work!
Will try to get to that guide!
Respect to you sir. You got it all right.

I'm still a little confused as to what "seal clubbing" is compared to "farming". How are they different?
Not very different. You can farm anything. Seal clubbing is killing something that can't reasonably defend itself.
@@CMDRCyrious Thanks! That makes a lot more sense now.
How about a tutorial about picking vehicle weapons? Unsure what to pick for my Lightning, and my MG slot on my Prowler

@@CMDRCyrious o7 in turn, Commander Cyrious. Keep up the great content.
You need to join a good outfit
I get annoyed when sunderer's are destroyed at GOOD fights simply because they are so few and far between. Other than that I get pissed off because without me or someone of equal or greater skill camping the damn sunderer for the entire fight it usually gets blown up because only a handful of people know that the light assault exists.

Why don't DayBreak make
Lol Cyrious, thanks for smacking the heavy clutches, I usually main light assault and can take down most heavies, but there always are those few who have dedicated themselves to high kd only play heavy experience. They don't realize that a high kd isn't helping the battle, they'd rather rush to the point and get kills rather than blow up a marked sunderer even if they definitely have the tools to do so.
i kill one heavy when i was a new and he had kill us relentlessly but i figure out he always came in from the back so when he came in i gave him a blast to the face he didnt even check the door before he got to us. and so he put a freaking bounty on my head and started spamming me in pm i didnt know how to reply

same goes to miller
Frankly any server in a nutshell.
Emerald too, buncha of sweaty try-hards farming kills and making a new smurf everyday to troll.
To players that are very experienced, farming certs and experience is worth little compared to kills and KD. What if killing extreme menace or bounty players credited them extra kills towards auraxiums and KD?
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you screwed up
Yo just a couple of questions if you don’t mind.
The EVE Online music in background is awesome dude !
Thanks man :)
how is your shield recharging?
You should go watch LexSteel's response. It's a good breakdown of exactly why and how this video of yours is so ridiculous.
you know if youre playing infantry you have to accept that youre going to die to a br26 eventually hipfiring his shotgun slugs at 30 meters once in a while
even if youre a good player 1 out of 10 deaths will still be to some random hipfiring shotgun slugs headshotting you or just people getting lucky and headshotting you, and 1/10 kills will be you getting lucky and the enemy missing
shots he shouldn't have missed.
ofc like killing new players is way easier but good defensive players that only farm noobs will just die to good attackers anyways, youre right that people who have like a offensive ratio of like 0.09 or whatever are really bad.
Meaning that even with 2 years of practice and being able to kill 80% of the enemy in a 1v1 I will still die to a noob every 10 deaths
Also I too hate youtubers that call planetside 2 pay to win without doing any research.
Props for promoting good behavior. Added in our best of playlist
