Hi I have a question I just got a 2011 3ds and I ordered a screen cover so that I could replace it I haven’t seen any videos on that here, do you have any advice on just this one piece?
Hey so I have 2 3ds xl. The first one is perfectly fine in the 1st screen but the 2nd screen(touchscreen part) is broken. The other 3ds xl has a broken 1st screen but perfectly fine in the 2nd screen. How can I put the 1st 3ds xl screen to the 2nd 3ds xl screen without changing lcd? (Basically just unscrewing the fine screen and replace it to the broken on by not removing lcd ) I'm sorry for my bad english.
Best thing to do is remove both motherboards from the devices, then remove the bad bottom screen and replace with good bottom screen, then install the motherboard of your choice. This is the simplest way. I have some 3ds xl videos that can help you.
Would I need to do all this to just replace the lcd lens? It seems as tho I could just pry it off and replace it without the disassembly. My top screen works fine but the lens has a chip in it
Hi there, I've just attempted the replacement and upon powering my 3ds, I see that the screen still does not turn on. I was wondering what could be the potential problem in this case?
Does only the top screen not turn on (rest of system works?) then double check the lcd cable is inserted fully, possible bad lcd and or board connector. If system does not power on fully (makes pop noise) usually means the 3D cable is defective and needs replacement
@@TheFixTech The rest of the system is fine besides the top screen. The replacement LCD cable shows some light when powered on and even noticed that when I put the 3DS back together and firmly press in the location where the connector would be, the LCD shows some more ‘light’ although no actual display.
@@CpTheDriller103 same here, follow the video and the upper lcd appear to be turned on but no image is displayed, the bottom screen is fine, system booted and touch, sound, wifi working correctly.
My LCD screen is not broken, but it seems to becoming detached. When I apply pressure, the screen lights back up to its full, original brightness. Is there any way to go about fixing that without taking it all apart?
I had this exact problem. I took mine apart and put a very thin piece of bubble wrap between the screen and case to create constant pressure, put it all back together and it works perfect now.
@@TheFixTech My top screen has 2 black lines but no scratches and the bottom screen it has some scratches thats why i need to replace both screens. Btw thank you!
Hey so, I followed this guide and replaced my top screen. Problem is, when I reassembled and turned on my 3ds, the top screen turned on, but stays black. What can I do in this case?
The long skinny cable that runs from the top screen and by the microphone? Order a new one or strip the wire on both ends, solder together, then cover with plastic tubing. But it's much much easier to just order a new one. It should turn on without the wifi cable though.
Hi I have a huge favor to ask is it possible for a 3ds to be fixed if it snapped in half but still turns on none of the main green pad inside is broken

Could do with a warning about the card reader. Yours came off so easily, I guess it must have been removed several times already. When I did it, I snapped the solder on the shield underneath 😢. I'm not even convinced that part needed removing.
What do i do if my touch screen is glitching it is constintley being tapped in the same spot and i cant tap anywhere else on the touch screen idk what to do
Alright posing a question. I have a 3ds and it has a broken screen. Can I as someone who has no experience with fixing electronics try to go ahead and attempt this repair or will I just end up screwing up my 3ds further? Also what size of flathead should I use if I do use a flathead instead of the plastic pry piece?
Use the smallest possible, you can purchase a precision tool kit from you local hardware store/Walmart. Should have all the tools needed. Just take your time doing the repair, one step at a time, it is not a race. Most people, if they mess up, try to complete as fast as possible. If you want good practice, you can buy a junk worthless 3ds on eBay.

Hey man I was wondering which screen to buy because I don’t want to accidentally buy one for the newer models.
What system do you have? Regular size 3ds? 3ds xl, new 3ds xl (the one with joysticks on both sides)
ribbon cables bring me to tears every time
Did you have to use a tri wing head screwdriver for this repair?
Not for this system
IMPORTANT QUESTION:
If i dont repair the screen (mine is not that badly damaged) is it possible that the console damages itself even more? Please i need an answer!
Hi I have a question I just got a 2011 3ds and I ordered a screen cover so that I could replace it I haven’t seen any videos on that here, do you have any advice on just this one piece?
You mean the lens that covers the top lcd? Yeah my first video shows how to replace that
looks cumbersome but will try it in a few days
is possible to change the flat of the screen or i need to buy a new one?
The lens? Yes, I have a video of that.
@@TheFixTech thank you very much for the instructions, I will try and fix it
Would I need to do all this to just replace the lcd lens? It seems as tho I could just pry it off and replace it without the disassembly. My top screen works fine but the lens has a chip in it
I have a video showing how to replace just the lens itself. Very easy.

Idk if you’ll answer but what do you do if you break the end of the black wire?
I believe that is the WiFi antenna wire. System will work without it.
I bet only 0.009% of viewers did this after watching it💀
Sadly am going to have to do this
what kind of screwdrivers did you use
My LCD screen is not broken, but it seems to becoming detached. When I apply pressure, the screen lights back up to its full, original brightness. Is there any way to go about fixing that without taking it all apart?
Unfortunately no, the lcd is defective and will need to be replaced.
I had this exact problem. I took mine apart and put a very thin piece of bubble wrap between the screen and case to create constant pressure, put it all back together and it works perfect now.
Should i replace bottom screen replace before the top screen?
The bottom screen come off with the motherboard. Replace if needed.
Make sure the lcd cables are fully inserted.
@@TheFixTech That did the trick. I was worried there for a moment XD
What do i do if the black cable is cut in half
The long skinny cable that runs from the top screen and by the microphone? Order a new one or strip the wire on both ends, solder together, then cover with plastic tubing. But it's much much easier to just order a new one. It should turn on without the wifi cable though.
What if, I just replaced the top screen. And when I turn on the 3DS, the top screen has various colors like blue or red. Please help.
I got all the way to to putting the mother board on and ripped the flex cable for the new screen I just installed!
I lost my temper and punched the top screen a lot and and you can barely see anything on the top screen. Any way it can be repaired?
They screen will need to be replaced. Be sure to purchase a quality screen.
Hi I have a huge favor to ask is it possible for a 3ds to be fixed if it snapped in half but still turns on none of the main green pad inside is broken
Yes is possible but will need plenty of parts, better off buying a parts device...
@@TheFixTech thank you I was just super worried I would have to buy a new one because I have one of the ones with the super smash bro thing in the back so I would have to pay extra to get that one thank you for your help
My 3ds top screen keeps glitching like turning black and flickering and turning on and off and sometimes remaining black for some time but my touch screen is all right. Will this method work to fix my problem?
This usually means the top screen is defective. Needs replacement
@@TheFixTech yea i might go look somewhere cause i went a repair shop to get my r button fixed and asked them about the screen but they were unable to fix it. They replaced the back part of the bottom but still kept on having this problem.
I just installed my new screen today and it's like cloudy on the edges I don't know if it's a screen defect or something I did
Do you have a link for the top screen replacement?
Yes, I’ll add links shortly
I just added the links.
@@TheFixTech thanks
Could do with a warning about the card reader. Yours came off so easily, I guess it must have been removed several times already. When I did it, I snapped the solder on the shield underneath 😢.
I'm not even convinced that part needed removing.
Does the 3D still work??
yes
Top screens will get power but won’t display any images do u have any idea how I can fix this
Usually means the lcd cable is defective, must replace top screen.
@@TheFixTech i found the problem the display i used short the fuse on my board and im not skill in soldering so im gonna buy a new board
Do you really have to take the whole bottom part out just to fit a new screen?
What do i do if my touch screen is glitching it is constintley being tapped in the same spot and i cant tap anywhere else on the touch screen idk what to do
The touchscreen needs to be replaced, I have a video for that, it is an easy process. The touchscreen separates from the lcd.
@@TheFixTech k thx
What is the black wire in the top screen?
Antenna for Wi-Fi
mine (super Mario 3d land red 3ds 2011) has a tiny scratch
6:15 How do I remove the hinge? The guy says he is prying it back but he is pushing the hinge upwards
I GOT IT!!!
how long does a 3ds get fixed in 2021
Alright posing a question.
Thanks for answering! I think I am going to go ahead and try to fix it. Will definitely be using this video!
What we did is we broke the top off so we glued it together and idk if we can get it off
Will I lose data if I do this?
No, the 3ds has built in memory. Plus any data on the game card and memory cards will be safe.
Thanks i tried to spray my 3ds with alchogol and whenever i blow to the microphone it glitches
Thank you
