    This is fantastic. My grandparents said they'd been told theyd need to replace the whole entire thing, doors and all, for several thousand dollars. Now I know that it's doable and from the looks of it, not too advanced or difficult. Thanks for this video

      Aw, glad to hear you're able to help your grandparents! Removing the door is the toughest part, make sure you have a second pair of hands nearby to help lift it. Good luck with the repair and feel free to reach out to us for more help - www.swisco.com/page-id-part

    What size board did you use for the height to put the track on?

    Why are screws being used? Won't it cause more leaks? Water that pools inside the tracks are designed to drain out the weep hole. If the track isn't waterproof then it will be draining into the house rather than through the weep hole. We had to learn this the hard way. Perhaps the reason for the leakage was someone screwed something under the tracks without caulking/sealing.

    I need to do this, but I will clean before installing the new parts.

    • @SWISCO
      @SWISCO  6 років тому

      Great idea, Deborah.
      You can... 1. clean up beforehand to try to avoid replacing the track, or 2. clean up before you replace the track, to make the installation go smoothly.

      I was thinking the same thing. When they were done it still looked dirty. But very nice video showing how to change the parts to make the door work better. I had no idea the track could be replaced like that.

    Any help you can give me as to how I find someone to do this? I have called 3 people and all want to replace the doors. How I wish my father were still alive, he ALWAYS knew how to fix rather than replace.....

    Hi, not sure if you can help, but we've been told the worn vinyl door track for our First Inline patio doors can't be replaced, so we are going to have to have the whole patio doors replaced. I'd like to try to fix it myself first, will give your option a go!

      @@megsm1839 hey, no we didn't. Just used WD-40 and cleaned the runners to keep them just about useable at present. Eventually we will probably need to replace

    You don't have to take the stationery door off

    • @johnnycanread9978
      @johnnycanread9978 Рік тому

      You would have to take the inside door frame off to remove the slider and then clear the track to replace it.

    Does anyone know the brand of the door in the video? I have the same one, but no branding or logos. Just says Monterey series. 🤯

    My track is currently damaged. Why do you have to take the other doors off?

    • @TheTim16964
      @TheTim16964 2 місяці тому

      I believe they did that to get the sliding door off. Mine the door can come off from the inside. I will be leaving the stationary door in place.

  • @TheJ000ker

    dude... were you raised on a barn? why don't you clean the filthy area before you put a new track down, takes a minute! geezz... Other then that it was a very good video, well laid out simple and to the point. Good job on that.

  • @serdlc64
    @serdlc64 5 років тому +1

    Why would you have to take the stationary door off???? It’s not on the same track 😉

    • @kowen5323
      @kowen5323 5 років тому +1

      I've wondered that myself. Seems like a lot of effort could have been avoided. That slider would have come out to the inside .

    • @billschott1
      @billschott1 4 роки тому +1

      Guess it depends on if you can remove the sliding door from the inside or not.

    • @dude21a
      @dude21a 4 роки тому

      You need the extra room unless you remove the door from the inside. But you risk not having enough grip on the door as there is 1/4 inch between stationary and fixed.

    • @serdlc64
      @serdlc64 2 роки тому

      george whalen Actually you don’t need to remove it.We just replaced the strip this morning and if they are on separate tracks, the fixed door doesn’t need removed
      I really don’t understand this guys video. Too much unneeded work
