Billy Bat is a treasure. That shot of Kevin wreathed in bats saying "if I fail, it's all over" might be my favourite Urasawa panel of all time. Yeah the plotlines get a bit out of hand but BB is just too entertaining to put down. Its hopeful and depressing and existential and lovely and conspiratorial. Hopefully one day we will get that proper english translation, if the mighty Mouse doesn't global warming us all to death first...

Awesome to see more people talk about Billy Bat, it's my favorite manga of all time and what initially introduced me to Urasawa's work through Manben, and have been a fan ever since.
Such an underrated work, which is probably largely due to the fact it hasnt been officially translated to english like Urasawa's other works. I really hope a publisher will pick it up eventually.
His work is just on a whole nother level and I think many people can learn a lot from it 🦇
netflix dropped pluto's anime back in otcober it went by fast without any noise or exposure sadly so i am here telling you just in case you missed it

Billy bat is my favorite urasawa's work so I don't want 15 yro riding it and pretending to be different even if they didn't understand a single thing.

I know EXACTLY what you mean when you describe Urasawas manga as feeling like a movie. That was always the impression I got. Monster, the Manga or the Anime could be adapted shot for shot and line for line into live action and it wouldn’t feel weird or dissonant. I love that so much about his style - it’s grounded and realistic. I love how he distances himself from a lot of manga/anime tropes in favor of realism

Im sold. This is one of the few Urasawa joints I haven's read. He is my goat mangaka and its high time to correct that.
Took me over a month to read Naoki-senpai classic "Monster" (did'nt know he was creator till I heard his name mentioned, read it via scans)! Though the anime 😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊...the MANGA was another LEVEL of 😮😮😮! The last panel of the manga (Monster) was when Yohan was sitting at the mental window for a moment...then, POOF...GONE! Urasawa with Takashi Nagasaki = 🥁🥁🥁😋😋😋

This was one of the wildest manga journey's of all time which for you and anyone watching channel knows is saying alot. Urasawa and Takashi are both masters of their crafts and I think Billy Bat is a true story of our era and like their other works will continue to inspire others.

Billy bat (the manga of Kevins) remindes me of One piece. The king of manga, the manga that saved millions of people's lives and keeps doing that until now. Also, my favorite manga of all time! The one that gave me so many life lessons, i couldnt even count them!

It’s funny while watching this video I couldn’t help but think of a song by Donald Fagen called Morph the cat that kinda to me is this enigmatic song about some unknown someone or something that kinda influences humanity but there’s so many ways to interpret it, I definitely recommend giving it a listen 🎧

It's true It's called Blood Battlefront Blockade I've read some scans on Mangadex and it is Wild and fun you should go read it sometime cause I know your a Big Trigun fan.

As amazing as "passion and love brings people together" sounds, everything the bat did, including the bad stuff, is just a series of butterfly effect that ultimately resulted in saving that kid that is supposed to save the world. It just so happen that it needed to be manga and stuff cause a drawing is how the bat communicates.

Its sad how underrated Billy Bat is. To me its Urasawas 2nd best work and also his most thematically coherent and satisfying ending.
After watching this I now hope that you will make a video on 20th Century Boy. It personally left me confused and kinda disappointed at the end.

I will say this. My girlfriend had never really had any interest in anime at all until we watched Pluto on netflix. She thought it was all goofy cartoons until that show made her cry over North #2.

@SlimeFancypants it's really good. We got an iconic character out of it and a great story (the ending is meh though but everything leading up to it is awesome). Though I feel like Manga is superior DKM(DC), Doomsday Clock(DC), and Vader Down (Star Wars/ Marvel) are some good comic reads.

as for the manga i enjoyed it but it was so bloated and felt like it is being a mystery for the sake of it and the time jumps just got out of hand 7/10 still worth a read
