Year of our lord 2022 and somehow Trigun is coming back my wins are eternal and my power unstoppable.
I found your review because of the news of Trigun making its triumphant return and chose your review over others because you go into reviewing the manga. I don't know anything about the original publication or the Maximum run other than how much there is to go into past the anime itself and hearing a new voice gush over it has gotten me to pull the trigger, so to speak, on reading through this story in any way I can.
Yooo I love to hear that!! Hope you enjoy because I really do think it's a fantastic ride.
What’s gonna happen with this series next? This feel like a drop of honey
But bro
Bro
BRO
ITS STILL NOT MAXIMUM
I am excited for new Trigun. Though concerned with the "completely new cast and crew" spin they are working with. The character design changes though they look nice I feel are a step away from what I liked from the older products. Going to give it a shot when it comes out... But it may be a hard sell without Johnny coming back as Vash. I just hope what I loved in the older stuff still shines through in it.
Trigun is that one story that looks like a silly cowboy story on the surface, but holds untold treasures within. I've been a fan since I saw it lots and lots of years ago, and I always will be. It's an amazing story that hits like a punch to the gut, but in a good way.
As much as it initially pained me, I've decided to watch the reboot, and I have to say that it's beautiful in its own right. Even if you're a die hard hater of the remake, I suggest at least watching a few episodes. Vash looks and acts totally differently than in the first adaptation, but it's still worth a watch. You can decide whether or not it's good. 😊 If for nothing else, listen to the op. It's catchy AF
I love both the new and old anime, to me they're equally great, just different ❤️
I love Trigun's art. To me it's that late 90's/early 00's sharp, lean art style taken to it's absolute extreme and I love it
Now that Stampede has been announced I decided to rewatch the series for the first time since I was like 14 and WHOA everything hits different as an adult. What a fantastic series, and I’m so glad I happened upon this video!
Vash is the greatest mc in anime imo because he is 100% an active hero, his genuine love for humanity is refreshing af and i hope they do him justice in the remake ❤✌🏿
Finally, someone who talks about BOTH the anime and the manga. Both are great on their own merits, but I’ve always felt that when combined they tell an amazing story and show the duality of mankind, along with so much more. Which is saying a lot of a an anime/manga lol. Really loved your retrospective on this, you did an awesome job on the video.
"Doing the right things in a world of wrong, is tough". Man you did it. This one is a deep thought.
Trigun takes everything I love about Hellsing and takes it up a notch by adding a real message that has no definitive answer with several characters with differnt, distinct views on the question. Easily one of my top 5 as well!
I definitely prefer the manga, not only because Knives's motives make more sense but the final fight is so much better.
What you said about the manga art reminded me of the 2 page spread in Kekkai Sensen of a closeup of Klaus punching the villain in the head. Fist on one page, head on the other. 😘
Trigun is one of the series that is perfect in many ways. The pacing, the artwork, the characters, the music, all of it. I generally use it as an intro to anime for people who think they don't like anime.
I don't generally read manga because it's hard for me to follow (ADHD makes my eyes skip all over the page and I end up reading the panels out of order). So I truly appreciate when people take the time to make video essays covering manga versions of anime that I love. Thanks for this in-depth coverage of both!
Good video man, The first time seeing the plants go "biblically accurate angel" and the frankly body horror was so jarring but so interesting I couldn't stop reading. Also I wish more anime's would go in the "similar but stands on its own merit's" direction instead of the bad filler episodes, At least give us good filler episodes!
this is such a wonderful analysis. you've really done the series justice!!!!! you explained vash and wolfwood's relationship so well i've finally came to understand it. thank you for this amazing love message for trigun!
Vashthestampedeplush approves
the only approval I needed tbh
I just watched this entire thing
As someone who loves Shaman King and Trigun this video was such a treat. Truly incredible work done here.
That's some impressive editing. cutting out thoes panels must have taken a while.
For sure, a few mins took hours to make lol but in the end I think it’s really worth it!
@@SlimeFancypants definitely, I subbed.👍
Aw cool, slipping in The Dead South right in there when talking about the music. My favorite Canadian band.
Yep. Canadian.
I love this video, it’s immaculate. The editing is amazing. The topic is amazing. I’ve loved Trigun for a while but only recently had the idea to go hunt down videos on it. Glad the first one I watched was this one.
Maybe they’ll finally make an anime for Trigun Maximum, unlikely but I still have hope in my heart.
Yooo thank you!! Maybe one day we’ll get the FMA Brotherhood treatment
I forgot where I heard it from, but apparently the original anime for Trigun was made in order to design and sell toys to compete with Gundams and other sci-fi toy brands that were popular at the time. So knowing that, it makes sense that the mangaka is so obsessed with "the rule of cool" dominating all his designs.
Really nice video and great editing really underrated channel
I hope Trigun Maximum gets a good anime adaptation, gets the attention it deserves
Thank you!! A new anime for Trigun would be the DREAM!
They just announced a remake for next year!
Trigun Stampede trailer just dropped
14:00 I love how, when he starts talking about empty space panels, the Bleach music starts playing.
Excellent song choices. Unending Journey was a nice touch.
loved Trigun back in the day and it's always a treat to revisit it, i have a soft spot for eastern takes on western(ish) stuff. happy to see it getting proper attention+respect, great job on the video
also nice subtle use of Katz Theme
Ayeeee good catch lol
shit like that stays with you... true of most Courage stuff.
I'm glad the love and respect for the both series. Not many videos focus on the Manga series and since that was my introduction to the series I enjoy it when both get their respective love
I am so happy you talked about the Trigun manga because internet discussion about Trigun is always about the anime and when the manga is talked about it's in a negative light.
In Highschool I became friends with an upperclassman and we had a sleepover at her house. During the sleep over she introduced me to Trigun and I honestly think it changed my life. It has continued to be one of my favorite anime I ever watched. Now that a reboot is coming out I really hope that it lives up to the legacy the manga and 1998 anime have carried. I know people have been angry about Vash’s design change but honestly as long as his personality is on point I don’t think the design of him is too much to worry about. From what I’ve seen so far it looks awesome!
This is a really good video. Its always fun to learn more about history like this.
Thanks!
This vid essay was great! I was so invested. I’ve actually both read and watched the anime and I feel like the more times I read it, the more I understand each and everyone of the characters. You really captured what the story means and im just glad to see people liking the story overall.
That said…I still want a maximum anime adaptation…it would be awesome
Thank you!! And yeah the maximum reboot would be WILD!
@@SlimeFancypants Well…We’re getting one😂
@@greylark2759 stampede is a maximum adaptation?
@@mr.umbreon3173 no no this was before we knew what it was about. It’s a prequel but also a reimagining
as a trigun fan for life who just absolutely adores this series, you taught me a lot with this video! thank you for giving time and attention to the core of this series, it's truly something special 🖤
Wild how underrated this video is, for sure reading this one asap.
Yooo thank you! Yeah UA-cam completely buried this one, sucks because I think it’s real good lmao
This is a fantastic examination of the major themes of Trigun, and you navigate both mediums in your discussion SO WELL! Added to my playlist of favorite video essays.
i wanted to make a trigun video for so long but this changed my mind lmao, how can i top this ? aint no way
very well done, loved this
this is a very well done video. bravo!
i watch Trigun the Anime and i loved it. Even when its an old one its still entertaining.
i would recomend it to watch.
Great video man ! Love your content, thanks for the entertainment on a rainy day
Love Trigun, loved the video and that editing man it just blew me away! Keep up the good work :D
This was a very well put together video man! The editing was impressive and it is clear that a large amount of effort was put into making it look nice. Super underrated.
My LORD I love the editing you’ve done here. It does Trigun such justice, and I hope it inspires people to give it a shot in one iteration or another.
Solid video my boy. I appreciate the work you put into it. Was looking for a recap before I watch stampeed
Now we just need JYB to be announced to return for the English dub and I'll be absolutely content
Glad you used some Silent Hill music on a couple serious parts. Really worked with the story.
Yea buddy! Sweet video essay! It's art in and of itself, covering another beautiful work of art. Thank you for sharing this with the world!🔥🔥🔥 👍💪👍
A good video talking about both the manga and anime then a mgs reference? beautiful.
I have to get this manga now.
Trigun is also a top 5 anime for me, but I didn't really know a ton about the manga and how they differed. Really appreciate this video, good job! Beyond the great analysis of the series, fantastic editing with making the manga images dynamic and timing the clips with your narration. 👏🏾
I like your vibe, guy. Great analysis, editing, and you have a real comfort on the mic.
Good luck!
This channel has a lot of potential! Nicely done.
Keep it up!
Thank you!!
Vash and Wolfwood is greatest bromance in anime history.
absolutely amazing video, if anything should be taken away from reading trigun maximum its definitely the points you make. with there not being a lot of in-depth discussions on trigun in general it's really nice to see a video at all, but especially one with so much love and care put into it. excellent work!
i hope the new remake ends up being a full series adaptation that allows more discussion on trigun's themes; one point you make is just the fact that it feels so "raw" compared to other action series, and that's what has appealed the most to me personally in trigun maximum. i hope it brings in more attention and analysis because it really is an underrated story
I love it, great video! Trigun is my favorite!!
Thank you!!
Great video, well done - you've worked very hard!
I just finished the anime since the new one was coming out and I remember toonami putting episodes of trigun and I would watch it here and there but I finally watched all 26 episodes and I am in love I want to see more and it even made me feel something some of the episodes, it is truly one of the best anime I’ve seen, I love cowboy bebop, and evangelion so it fit my taste.
yo great video bro, for sure see you popping off one day, just keep making consistent uploads and you'll be set. good luck
Yoooo appreciate that man!! Gotta keep grinding>>>
Hope you make another video for the new series. As a longtime fan of Trigun, I appreciated this video a lot.
Good music selection Man!
I feel little ashamed, did not thought manga went where it went. I have fallen in love with anime and thought 100% manga was finished or close to finishing by the time amine was made because Trigun gave me feelings it's all complete: story, music, people. The blend was just too perfect for me at that time.
Now I'm delighted to know I have a great manga to read.
Thank you for this video.
And man, OST is soo good I usually, when weather is sunny and warm, leave my house to go rollerblading listening to "Never could have been worse" followed by "Lovely calamities".
I hope you are reading and enjoying the manga! It’s really incredible
That was a great essay keep up
Good video man; I though I was the only one who religiously watched that Katt Williams bit
bro can i just say how god damn good your music choice and taste is
Thank you for this video! I thought I was the only one who had difficulty understanding the flow of the manga panels. Also, you have very interesting choice of music in this video, I've noted Silent Hill 2 ost, Katana: Zero ost, Resident Evil ost. Quite a taste!
Was listening to this video in the background. Watched the screen when he mentioned the Maximum art changes and saw a wild Woolie Madden clip. Truly blessed
i watched the three first episodes of Trigun Stampede and this video ended up on my feed
im glad for that
I'm super curious about your thoughts about Trigun Stampede. Season 1 just ended with a bang and they're working on a season 2.
Stay tuned 👀👀
I grew up watching the Trigun anime and it has had such a huge impact on me, years later I found and read the manga and it was like reading a continuation on the anime. Though I found some characters stories and overall arcs to be superior to the anime. If you love Trigun and haven’t read the manga you really need to give it a try.
You did a great job with your comparison. You put a lot of work into it, and it shows. Your commentary appeared flawless and smooth. If Vash doesn't kill his enemies, isn't it because that would be the end of the end of his career, or is it altruism?
You have no idea how many times I've come back to rewatch this, it only fuels my hyperfixation more >:]
i remember when i was around 10 or 11 years old and coming across Trigun on adult swim, it was my absolute favorite anime at the time because i was in love with Vash 🙈 and then when i was around 13, i found the manga ( specifically Trigun: Maximum ) at Barnes and Noble, and it just FED even more into my fixation with the series, and that’s stayed with me well into my 30s 🥺
i’m so, so happy that this show is finally getting some more love again with the reboot!!🖤🖤🖤🖤🌸🌸🖤🖤🖤
Good vidja, I like trigun and I like this video 👍
Definitely giving the manga a read after I watched this!
Ope, you did wind up covering Stampede. On my way. 😂 the animation was an interesting change, but they did a pretty good job adapting Trigun for a new audience and an interesting change for the old audience. It’s pretty fun storytelling
Gonna start reading with the deluxes😊
I don't know how to start this comment, I do it because I always choose to comment on videos of little known creators to give them some recognition and let them know that they have viewers, but I don't do this comment out of obligation. I have to say that this video is legitimately the best analysis of Trigun that I have seen on this platform, the narration, the editing, the background music, the visuals, it is absolutely wonderful, AND ALSO THAT I WAS EXCITED TO HEAR THE TWEWY OST IN IT WHAT A BANGER GAME.
Now speaking more about Trigun specifically, this franchise has become my favorite piece of multimedia of all time. I have consumed everything that it has produced, and your video shows how beautiful Trigun is. Thank you very much for making this video essay.
Yoooo thank you for watching!!
the manga is fucking genius and easily ranks with berserk or vagabond the storyline with the visuals plottwists everything one of my top 5!
the editing here is insane for 4k subs
What sets Trigun apart for me, is neither Wolfwood or Vash in the story is framed as being totally right or wrong in any given situation. And while hope and optimism do win out in the end, each character's worldview influences the other in different situations in the story. It's one of the few times where a pacifist lead and a warlike buddy don't come across as strawmen. Life doesn't always have easy solutions to big moral problems.
Okay you convinced me to watch Trigun in the first twenty minutes.
I'm not watching any more as to not risk spoilers.
bro did you cut out all the manga images yourself ? i have never seen anything this amazing
Yep it takes forever but it looks dope so it’s worth it imo
@@SlimeFancypants kudos to you man, that was amazing
@@SlimeFancypants definitely worth it
Another great video. Music choices scream "I was dragged up in the 90's".
Appreciate that man, and yeah the 90’s are ingrained in my DNA lmao
18:30 “ copyright my guy “
Proceeds to use a song from bleach that constantly gets taken down
Love the video. Also with Eden its an endless world, the authors other work, an mma manga would be amazing to get translated and made into an anime. All rounder Meguru.
When Yasha's theme kicked in i had felt such a wave of nostalgia
I love how this guy says Knives
Is that woolie vibing out at 13:41?
Been watching their videos since like 2012 had to work him in somehow since he loves Trigun lmao
so much effort... yet few have come across the fruits of your labor keep on working it wasn't in vain soon enough you'll meet an audience
Here’s hoping lol gonna keep grinding cause one day it’ll all be worth it
16:10 Tekken 2 music, a man of culture
The Good, The Bad and the Idiot:
Love and Peace
1. Vash the Stamped is amazing!
2. Interstellar 5555 is a classic… not a word of dialogue, but the story 💯 comes across… it also happens to be a great record with some songs that you’ll want to listen to outside of the anime. The perfect blend of two art forms and a way to tell an epic story without traditional language!
Well done
Man every1 pulls from Dune
Honestly one of the series that affected me more than any other. Hell I still have my Bash the Stampede action figure by Tod McFarland. An absolute legend. Too bad it wasn’t more popular in Japan.
Even if the CG is borderline offensive I’ll still watch the new Studio Orange/Toho series but man…MadHouse. Where were you when we needed you most?
Trigun is awesome
your videos are very cool :D Regards from colombia.
Yooo I appreciate that!!
I'm really late to the party, but I wanted to say that manga pics animation you did was very enjoyable. I've seen the anime many years ago and I still feel like it was one of the best I've seen. Never touched manga up till now since I've had hopes for further ecranisation. But with this latest reboot I felt, I need to get into the source material.
The story is really great, but I was kind of disappointed that regular plants stuff was less developed as I imagined, which was one of the main mysteries for me. And manga ending is somewhat crumpled. I wish he gave the ending a couple of more chapters.
Fun fact: trigun was reclassed as a seinen.
Didn't see the entire video yet because of the spois but man i like your style
The fact that you spliced in 'Big Money Rustla's' in the first minute and a half killed me. I'm not even a fan of them, but I'm aware. Kudos to that hidden joke
MadHouse! One of my best works.
While I'm enjoying Stampede because of my overall love for the series - it does bum me out that we may never get a full adaptation of Maximum. Imagine Mappa or like Madhouse taking a crack at the Wolfwood vs Razlo fight or the final Vash vs Knives fights?
One of the few instances where I like the anime more than the manga. That anime was somethings special. Even the anime only stuff that I would dismiss as boring non-consequential "filler" were awesome. Particularly love the first episode. As well as the Rem episode. That said though, the stuff they didn't include from the manga were some bonkers stuff. I really wish they reboot the anime combining the best of the two. Hopefully, this new "reinvention" / reboot delivers on that, but I doubt it. I just hope it's just as awesome though.
Anyway... if you guys love Trigun, I suggest reading Eat Man. Has the same feel as Trigun with the mysterious MC with a baggage, the world aesthetics, and the "Errant Knight / Cowboy" adventure. Well, at least at the start.
Man giving me nostalgia for Trigun but using music from my childhood games too (don't think I don't recognize the music from lost odyssey!)
silent hill music and trigun goes so well together?!3!3!3!
Weird feeling watching this after seeing the reveal of the new anime's look
