14 new chapters are in the works with chapters 401 till 408 basically done and ready for release as of the 30th of June. More news are coming soon on the official release dates but its sooner than you think.

Most likely, it's going to move to Jump+ which is still owned by the same publisher (Shueisha) like Weekly Shonen Jump. just a digital version of the magazine with exclusive digital only titles (like Dandadan, Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man, etc) and have more freedom with their schedules.
Togashi saw MHA surpass HxH's chapter count and locked in.

As badly as I want Hunter x Hunter finished, I can admit I’m still happy to have even read a part of Togashi‘s masterpiece.

The last time we got more than 10 chapters in one year he followed it with 4 hellish years of radio silence. I'll never ask for more than that again.

I mean, I’m pretty sure the whole “HOLY SH**, HXH IS GETTING CANCELLED!?!?” controversy is definitely not true. Because when I went to the Shonen jump store in Tokyo station, just yesterday, I saw a whole ass section of HxH merch and Gon was even apart of the cardboard stand that had all of the Shonen jump main characters. So yeah there’s even more proof on how HxH did not get canceled (so calm down y’all). But yeah, I’m really excited to hear HxH is in a good position right now in terms of new content and just Togashi himself (last year was a disaster with the whole “what if I die situation” with Togashi and him making a possible ending.)
He’s been locked in for so long now and I’m so proud of him
pretty sure the startover thing was a hint at a manga PV he was working on with one of his favorite music groups.

It's not a different publisher its a different magazine of the same publisher or it might be released only on the jump app which belongs to the same publisher.
In the last years the récord is 20 chapters in a row.

Regarding the " ending just in case, " ... that thing is literally not cannon. Togashi has this funny custom of just changing his ideas and plans every other chapter... that's why we have so many characters that seem to be important, then he forgets about them or sometimes plans some paths and randomly ignores them ... like that moment when he seemed to plan for Feitan to be a lost Zoldyck and just dropped the idea.
imagine watching a guy in a wheelchair put up 3 pointer after 3 pointer. Thats exactly what its like to watch Togashi post about 3 pages 5 or 7 times a week its insane this is his best pace in years. If they only get published monthly the manga will get sustained attention and popularity again.

Oh wow... 14 new chapters after like a decade or more of on again off again hiatus. I was in ducking elementary school when hxh came out, now I'm in my 40s. Ducking togashi just die already and leave a will on who should finish your hiatus x hiatus manga. What! hxh is no longer on weekly release anf is basically being dropped by shonen jump? Well who would've ducking thought.
Would ever be the same if he died and someone else took over
