    What you need is a load distribution hitch along with a built in sway control. Then you could have shifted that 310lbs excess weight off your rear truck axle and distributed it evenly across your truck’s two axles and the trailer’s two axles which along with sway control would make your truck and trailer handle much better than your current setup!

      Weight distribution hitch works miracles. A lot of people have trouble understanding how they work and why they are so important to handling on the highway. I’m sure mine kept me alive more than once.

    WDH with Antisway, ESPECIALLY when it’s got high sides. A big rig blows by and you’ll be doing the side-sway two step. Anti sway is absolutely critical, esp when trailer weight (including what it’s laying on hitch) is anywhere near your tow vehicle’s weight.

    My 3.0 definitely tows awesome with the WDH property setup. Makes a huge difference.

    Weight distribution bars would move some of that weight to the front axle without losing stability like moving weight to the rear of the trailer. You would likely gain stability and the truck would ride more level as well.

    Off topic question..my diesel started making a real loud rattling sound around 2,500 miles...mostly really low rpm..barely lugging ..never did it before then.they say it has no codes..it seriously sounds like an old idi motor..as soon as it's under boost its quiet..any ideas.i feel it's the injector timing

    There is a variable clutch in the transfer case that is used in auto. It can variably transfer torque between 0%(ish) and 50% to the front axle depending on rear wheel slip.

      That's really cool. I was wondering how they engaged the transfer case when the traction control kicked in. I was worried that you could potentially shock load the front end if you had the rear end spinning out badly.

    By the way when you put it in tow haul mode it has an automatic exaust brake fyi.

    I run auto 4x4 when the road road conditions vary from good one minute to bad the next. If the truck senses any slip it will engage the front automatically....

      21k now and I haven't had any major issues. I'm really happy with the truck and the way the engine operates.

    Can you tell me more about the fuel consuption? Is it 20L/100 I'm seeing? What is the best you have done with this truck?

      Typically I get around 10L/100 with a blend of city and highway. If I was driving strictly for fuel economy I could probably get it down to 7.9L/100 on the highway.

      What is that in MPG'S?? We don't use L here in the United States... I would like to know what you get both Towing and not Towing averages... Because I can't see spending 60 to 70k for something that only gets 2 MPG better than my truck 97 F350 Turbo Diesel Crew Cab 4X4 with 8ft bed... And I would lose my 8ft bed because none of the makers are smart enough to make a REAL Half Ton Truck that is a Crew Cab 4X4 with 8ft bed!! Please send me the MPG'S and how many miles you have on the truck, and test it after you have 20k on it to see if it has improved Towing and not Towing... Thanks

    I am looking into basically the exact same truck. Might go with the Chevy instead of GMC but same shit lol. Love the mini duramax! Might need to toss some airbags back there though with that heavy trailer!

      I have a 2020 Denali with the 3.0. I put bags in it and use an equalizer hitch, I pull an 8000lb travel trailer with my wife and dogs and the truck pulls it like a dream, I had stretches where I was passing people doing 130kmph up hill

      with a properly weighted trailer you wont have any problems. I hauled my buddies boat around a few times this summer it weighed in around 7500lbs. I didn't have any issues. Just make sure you have extra DEF

      @@johnbrown8168 for what it is I think it's great. People that say it's worthless are driving 3/4 tons and 1 tons anyways. People buy half tons and get mad when they find out it won't pull a gooseneck with a backhoe on it. It pulls my bass boat and when it's not hooked up I'm getting 25-26 average and 30-35 on the highway. I'll take that all day everyday

      @@derekm3304 well people really just hear diesel and think it'll pull mountains though in small cars they maintain speed much better but we now also have Turbocharged gas too. The goal of these is mainly fuel efficiency regulations. I get 13-14 mpg in my Titan and I fill with premium. Doesn't like the low octane stuff.

      @@brandonsmith4367 constant engine issues. My front diff blew at 146 miles and it just blew again. Quality control issues. Brake issues. Etc etc etc. My service adviser has said the only problem free vehicle has been the acadia. That GM is garbage and they won't completely repair vehicles because it's costing them 3 times more. I'm going back to ram and Toyota.

    Do you think the fact that the timing chain sits at the back of the engine is something to be concerned about. People are saying that would be costly to replace ?

      It will be an expensive fix but they are saying it doesn’t need to be done until 200,000 miles

      You shouldn't even be worried about that. They say it's good for 150k miles. You should be getting rid of the truck long before then. Lol

    5.3l owners crack me up, just like a middle child, jelous of their 6.2L brother they can't compete with and fearful of their new brother (3.0L) who they have no experience with and fear will be loved more. 😂.. PS- it's not a timing belt, it doesn't need to be replaced but inspected (but you may as well), and it's 150k miles (240k kms) not 100. To stop the trail wagging the dog with the trailer move/add weight to the front. The tongue weight should be at least 10% on a bumper pull and 15% on a fifth wheel but I usually go heavy. I would also recommend a weight distribution hitch to help distribute the weight more evenly on the truck but this won't help the sway, you must load correctly. Many of these toy hauler setups are poorly designed and have people putting as ATVs and sleds on and behind the axles. A few inches can make a huge difference.

      They've actually increased the service interval to 200,000 miles. This is FAR beyond what 99% of people will put on a vehicle in their lifetime.
      Still a better service interval than the 80,000 mile timing belts on dozens of vehicles on the market.

    Son, That trailer is NOT too heavy for your truck. With weight distribution, the tongue weight will be transferred back to the front of truck and trailer, you could be reducing your tongue weight 300-500lbs. That will greatly improve your towing experience and improve stability.

      I love this truck. I will be doing a basic review video soon. Fuel economy is alot better than what a gas option will provide.
      I will not be deleting this truck. The engine has been designed around the modern emission standards and works great.

      In ohio 0 maybe -5 this past January 21 start no problem they don’t want you to plug it in until 0 I never plugged it in started right up with key fob Chevy z71 3.0 so far 9000 miles it’s been great 30 miles to gallon tows my dump trailer 7200lbs awesome uphill and down

      @@dare2look awesome. My buddy had brand new f250 power stroke that wouldnt start one morning because it was apparently too cold but it was only one night and only 15 degrees. It was a huge hassle. Turned me off of diesel. But smaller diesels should be better. Glad to hear yours is. Im tempted to get it but I want a 1500 diesel. Cant tell which one is built the best. I love the inline 4 of yours. Seems solid.

    Air pressure in the back tires to low... and it could be the tires. A firmer sidewall does wonders. But, welcome to the world of diesel. You'll never go back to gas.

      The truck was not overloaded, just the rear axle. Has nothing to do with the engine.

      It works okay if you have the cruise control set or if you put it in manual mode. I'm definitely having a hard time adjusting. My last truck had the 6 speed allison.

      The Cummins has been cancelled for the Titan but I think the new frontier is coming out with a 2.8 Cummins. The engine is the same but the bigger gear ratio is what gives it the higher towing capacity.

      3.23, The max tow package is not available with the 3.0l Duramax. The max tow package comes with the 3.42.

    This guy looks like he needs a 2500.... I’m a small dude and would fit right “appearance wise” to a 1500. I own a 05 dmax 2500 but want the 1500 for the mileage. Regardless of what I am doing with the truck it’s 12.3 mpg

Was the engine clogged up, maybe that was why, and I think the intake manifold is plastic so when the engine clogs up it could catch on fire, at least I heard from some UA-camr mechanic. Are you doing okay now with chemo? If you don’t mind me asking, I know how that feels.

    Make sure to get your little rubber belt changed after a 100,000 miles. Have to drop transmission to changed a $30 belt. Great investment. Junk

    Auto 4wheel drive is nothing more then a crutch for inexperienced drivers. And talk to any 3rd party mechanic that works on them that people driving around in auto are replacing transfer cases more often.
    I've driven a million miles plus in 4wd in WI andMN and telling you, 2wd is far safer as you don't get beyond yourself in changing conditions. Once you are on solid snow and ice then use 4wd as needed

      Your 5.3 will last longer then the 3.0 with that belt driven oil pump they put thats suposed to last about 100k miles my last 5.3 i had 235k before i gave it to my daughter it still runs great

      They switched from afm dfm and it's A LOT better bc I had them both. My 19 is so much smoother than my 17 in every aspect. The motor pulls and shifts SO much better than my 17..the 19 has 3.23 in it and the 17 had 3.42 so that's some of the difference. I lost towing capacity when I got the 19 though..oh well

      @@dewaynemiguel3349 The oil pump belt isn't a big deal to change. Ford has been using wet belt oil pumps in some of their ecoboost engines for years with no problems anyways.

      Mike Copenhaver You realize it’s not really an issue with diesels right? People have been doing this for years. The issue with gasoline motors is that they use a spark to combust, so people say not to do it for safety reason. Diesels use compression instead of an electric spark.

      I disagree. It’s easy to see everything. Basic analogue gauges have worked well for years. The digital ones so far haven’t provided any benefits that Trump the analogue. Sure they look nice but I’m not going to pass on a truck over other features.

      That is kind of scary. I never forget the first time I took the valve cover off a Honda lawn mower and found a wet timing belt. Was shocked but I guess the engineers knew what they were doing. We'll see what happens when someone puts too thick of oil in this engine and it's cold out.

      I definitely don't like the idea of a belt driven oil pump either. Gears would have been a more durable option in my opinion.

    Its not looking good for the 3.0L. Its a runaway waiting to go. Chevy sells another lemon.
