    I saw the thumbnail and thought ‘Urgh, what a beast’ and not in a good way. But watching the video I’ve found myself warming to it and by the end I wanted one. Not sure how much of that is down to the car being interesting and appealing or the sales skills and enthusiasm of Mr Smith

    EV6 and Ioniq 5 really are top class. If I was on the market for a new EV now I'd be really torn as I love the retro Lanci Integrale look of the Ioniq but the interior of the EV6 is so nice too. It's a pity you can't mix and match the exterior and interior as an Ioniq 5 exterior with an EV6 interior would be pretty cool. I don't think there's much else on the market currently that can beat these for the money.

    • @simondelorean

      Same here, Ioniq 5 with the EV6 interior would be an instant buy for me. Guess I'll opt for the Ioniq 5 just because I want to have a smile on my face when I approach the car.

    I absolutely love the EV6, I was blown away by the Ioniq5 when I saw it and I'm sure I'd have to see and drive both before making a decision, but as much as the 5 is striking and modern but also with some retro touches, I feel like the EV6 is a much better and more cohesive design. It somehow appears more traditional in it's car styling but at the same time looks forward and steps the EV game on... Can't wait to drive one and finally make the switch to electric at some point and that is something I never thought I would say!!

    I remember the Kia Pride back in the day. They were the Srar Prize of choice on many a TV game show. But to be fair to Kia, they gave it a peppy 1.3 engine, and they were better built than the Metro of the same era, but looked a little narrower. I also remember the white wall tires. All in all, a good little package for the price. I think they could be had for £4995, brand new if memory serves. And the equivalent Metro being about 2 grand more, and even more for a Fiesta. So yeah, a good value little runabout.

    This car is going to kick butt here in Australia. Ignore anyone banging on about infrastructure and sale price. In cities, which is most of Australia, you charge it at home overnight. Also, people need to remember electricity is cheaper than petrol and maintenance costs are far lower than mechanical engines. I would love to see a total cost of ownership comparison with a similar power petrol car. Also we need these cars for the good of the planet. Great job Kia

So I grew up with a favorable view on what Hyundai had to offer. And it only got better over time. Korean was and is synonymous for me for Asian (read Japanese) thoroughness and inventiveness, becoming an exponent of that technological renaissance of the last decades and they (Korea) went there Lightning speed, convincingly and with a proven track record. I think there is a massive pent-up demand for these, I think that's why the relatively mundane VW ID.3 is selling so well. About Golf size but with the practicality of an EV. When Kia and Hyundai offers a true competitor in size to the ID.3 with V2L and 250-mile range, they will storm off with the market lead. I like the ID.3 but I think the exterior design, interiors and software on these look better (haven't driven either and in the flesh might prefer the VW option).

First impressions are I think I prefer the EV6 over the Ioniq 5 but obviously without driving or using either...and if Jonny Smith says Ioniq5 then I'd need a 48hr test drive at least to go with one or the other. Pretty sure a couple of the top Hyundai designers worked in the UK before they went to those new pastures.
    I spend all of my working days with VAG Product and it's great to see and to compare...via your channel...what other manufacturers are doing with EV's.
    Please keep on doing what you're doing with the channel...I love it...all of it, even my Wife, who just doesn't do cars at any level watches you!!
    Oh...yeah I see you mentioned the two-spoke steering wheel as something you like, my Anglia at 55 years old has a factory fitted one as well, and also, 48hp and 1200cc. 25 years later the Kia Pride had 60hp from a 1200...I think you said, but another 30 years on we now have cars like the EV6 and the Ioniq5.

    Having seen it and sat in both this & the Ioniq5 at the FullyCharged show, I think I prefer this, both from the internal and external styling point of view, and they are of course really the same car underneath. My one criticism is the price. Near enough £50k for the features I would like is a steep hill to climb, and I would be charging with Solar PV, so my fuel bill will be less than £100 a year. The fronk by the way is where you store the charger cables and emergency stuff, so that it isn't buried underneath the contents of your boot, the 4-wheel driver 20l fronk is therefore far too small.

    I had to stop watching when you got to the price. People have taken leave of their senses. A 54k EV car will depreciate to around 30-35 of its original value in 4 years. taking that figure you arrive at a payment (2.8%APR - which is super low) of around £830 p/m this is madness. Lets assume you get paid 10K above the average at £36k per year you will take home around £28k or £2,300 - and you want to spend circa 35% of your salary on a car!

      yet they keep doing it - ALL manufacturers - WHY????

    • @tupolev141
      @tupolev141 3 роки тому

      There's a few reasons. Inflation means you can't compare a 2021 price to a 2011 one. Then there is the relentless regulation creep that is mandating more airbags, more cameras, more reinforcements, more driver "assist" shit like lane keeping. Every car you see come out has 25cm thick doors and tiny glass surfaces. That's not the constuctors fault.
      What is te constructors fault is the desire of brands to want to leave their niche and move up, where the margins are higher and lastly, government incentives. You get 5000 subsidy? Ok The car is now 4500 more expensive than it needs to be.

    • @TheLateBrakeShow

This brands website had more page views under EV6 than all other combined years. But to keep the cool factor, they need to be exclusive and therefore, they are not made to sell many, that is why they have that price point. Tesla has more anouncend vehicles then actual models on the road. Facts dont matter, but customer perception does...Five years ago, any youtuber would scream to get to try a new car; now they send unique prototyes. Nevertheless, its a great car and a brilliant presentation.

      @SWR112 3 роки тому +1

      To be fair these things will be like gold dust for the first year or two, people and dealers will not get them in the numbers they would wish. You probably could own that split new and loose very little after a year to eighteen months. In 2018 I know a guy who lost £600 over 18 months of ownership on his EV. The dealer warded it back when he was moving abroad as they had sold out. He actually could have been cheeky and sold it privately and made money but didn’t want the hassle.
      But yes the battery pack prices need to keep falling, that Car for £26-30k amazing but pushing it at £40k plus. They say the pack cost £20-25k and they think they can get it down to £5k within five years with economy of scale and new design and chemistry who knows even solid state but they have been touting that for a decade and we don’t have it.
