I just picked my Ev6 Gt Line AWD in steele matte gray. Its my first EV out of the petrol world and am ecstatic with this vehicle and all its glory. It's a whole New World!!!
I put my EV6 AWD in sport mode and I set iPedal on. Then I have the most exhilarating driving experience ever, especially around tricky roads. I loved my XR2 when I was younger. I loved my Alfa Brera when I was a bit older as it was a step change better, and now the EV6 has done it again. The EV6 has achieved the maximum fast but safe driving experience on my local roads. What a car!
I still cannot believe how many people think it is worth while commenting to say that something is too big / too small / not enough room in the boot for them. Surely you buy a car that matches your own unique requirements? As a family, we are Kia Soul sized... but saying that, we are still looking forward to the EV4 release next year... to see if it fits ! Excellent review... keep 'em coming!
And surely you watch excellent reviews like this and comment on your experience of trying out this or other cars in the real world? I tried an Ionic 5 having seen on-line reviews and showroom stats and found it was a fabulous car but wasn’t practical enough due to the boot shape even though it has on paper a big boot than the car I did order, an Audi Q4. Reviews like these are useful but you need to try the cars in real life.

Excellent & informative review… I have the GT6 line EV6, my first foray into the EV market. I’ve owned many cars over the years from Honda, Audi, Lexus, Toyota & Jaguar, but I have not enjoyed the driving experience in any of them as much as I enjoy the KIA. I just love it! I fell lucky with my local dealer.. I enquired in Feb & took delivery in April… AWD model with heat pump in runway red. Excellent vehicle, hats off to Kia. I can only agree with your words in the review… top of the list! Thanks again & keep up the great work.
Great video! I have the Iconic with a few ‘extras’ costing just over £43k. Negatives are few but quite important. No electric adjustment for front seats. No rear centre armrest (that’s really stingy). Large floor step when the seats are folded down. Brakes are REALLY grabby, but can be mitigated by using the regenerative braking which is very effective. Positives…….superb styling, very comfortable, best infotainment system on the market, Google maps and assistant built in, an absolute delight to drive, the surge of torque from that 220bhp motor is gorgeous. The lights are excellent, the general handling and performance are superb. Conclusion…..a fabulous looking car which is a delight to own and drive, but with a few (to me) minor negatives. Well done Renault ❤

Great review! The Ioniq 5 was the first EV I ever drove, and I was tempted to buy one there and then, but then the EV6 launched and, after even just a short test drive, it managed to top the Ioniq 5. I ordered one on the spot (basically the RWD version of what you were driving). Thank you for this excellent review! I purchased an AWD EV6 in May 2022 (Wind) and have been very happy with the vehicle. Your review convinced me to purchase the EV6..Great work!
Great review. I’m taking possession of my EV6 in 2 weeks. Your review is so honest and independently frank. It’s only the 2nd, of so many I’ve viewed, that identify the difficulty seeing the Speedo. Well spotted 👍. I’d probably have to disagree with you slightly regarding the rear space, only because, as you say, your 5’7” and as you “sit low” you can’t get your feet under the front seat. I’m actually 5’11” and I sit higher for vision, and so any rear seat passengers won’t suffer that problem you describe. Not being critical, but otherwise love your review 👍👍. Keep up the fantastic independent reviews 👍
Have you any idea what your commentary whilst driving the EV6, does to the blood pressure of an already excited man, who currently drives a 14 year old Ford Torneo 1.8 diesel van, and is due to receive his Runway Red Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD (package 2) in 5 days? No, obviously not. Great review, just what I needed to crush the devil sat on my left shoulder :) Subscribed 👍🏼
Just watched the last Audi I'll ever buy drive away. Can't wait for my EV6 GT-Line AWD to arrive. 10 years ago if you told me I was going to buy a Kia (let alone sell an Audi, order a Kia, and wait months for it) I would have told you you're insane. Yet here we are.
I've got the e-Niro 2 64Kw - Wont be changing it until the range on cars hit 500-1000 miles, its simply not good enough having low ranges when these cars are getting more and more popular and people sit all day on the chargers. I need 1 charge then forget for a month. This EV6 is bloody tempting though.
Silly comment.. How far do you drive on one sitting!!?...Never 500 miles I hope. I’ve my e-Niro since March 2019, its our only car and we’ve done some long road trips in it from our home in the Aquitaine region of France..We have never been sitting around all day on a charger on trips to the UK, Switzerland and some long hauls within the country. Even in winter on the autoroutes the car has a longer range than I can drive in one sitting..Coming home from UK in October I stopped to charge twice coming off the ferry, once for 22 minutes on a 50 kw, and again for 6 minutes at an Ionity charger...in both cases I needed a break to use the loo and grab a choc bar (after washing my hands of course)...That was a 435 km trip. I hope you continue to enjoy and appreciate the e-Niro
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 It's not a silly comment. It's my experience and my opinion, just because it differs from yours and the experience of driving if different from yours doesnt make it silly. Are all KIA EV owners wankers ?
@@keving5235 ‘Scuse me while I wipe away the tears of laughter. If you are a Kia-Niro owner then you have just accused yourself of having excessive masturbatory tendencies. As I said before, I hope you continue to enjoy e-Niro ownership, whatever turns you on.
Great review! Very informative watched your review on Polestar also. Test drove both on the same day. Kia won hands down on drive & practicality & although i prefered the looks of the Polestar. The Kia isnt far behind on looks dept either. Inside although KIa is dark ,its a much nicer cabin. Just ordered my GTline AWD in Steel Grey. Didnt need the fancy tech of the GTline S but wanted the extra performance! Only sacrificing around 11 miles of range & a smaller Frunk/Froot thought it was worth it. Kia now quoting July delivery! This years allocation selling out quick
It's really unfortunate people have preconceptions of certain brands which makes them think Kia is cheap and not worth the price. I was one of those until I drove the Optima years back and was thoroughly impressed. Kia has improved a lot since and is worth considering., at least a test drive.
I've watched dozens of reviews on this car and yours was the best. I like the fact that you have almost zero edits in your video. You are excellent at this. Waiting for the EV6 GT in Canada. Then again... the Lucid Air is coming as well.
I do enjoy your reviews - thorough and bakanced in my opinion. However, when describing the luggage capacity, whilst the volume is a handy number for comparison, I would like to know the length of the space from the back of the front seats to the boot lid (plus perhaps the minimum width) Not only do reviewers seem never to report this but the manufacturers details rarely give it. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Great review as always. Test drove both the ev6 and Nissan Ariya last weekend. Wanted to really love the ev6, as on paper it has much better specs, but I hated the cheap plasticky dashboard and console, the Ariya felt luxurious in comparison. The boot space also wouldn’t fit our test luggage without dropping the rear seats. They fitted nicely in the Ariya even though (again on paper) I think the ev6’s boot is bigger.
Have you watched our Ariya review? Or the fact we voted it Best Mid-Sized EV of 2023 in our awards episode? It’s a great car! If you buy it you’ll be really pleased with it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share.
Brilliant & informative review, so thanks for this. I have a AWD GT Line S on order & just can't wait to get my hands on it!! As mentioned elsewhere I just hope KIA aren't a victim of their own success and delay delivery - ordered on the 10/12 - delivery expected late May 😞 But really love the style and what's on offer - and it was the only EV that caught my eye currently
@@shaunreino7930 Yeah the matt grey looks great. I did read on a few forums/reddit that its not a proper paint job though and that it's a wrap? Some are also saying that if that is true, that buffing/polishing it may result in it becoming "shiny" in patches. This might be total crap, but personally I would be risk adverse, and will avoid the chance! The red & white options look great too, but i think i will go black...when I can. 😑
@@VROneUK Really - that price sounds like a RWD? If it's a AWD that's a lot cheaper than the listed price for an AWD -GT S? Wow if your correct, well done. I was concerned with the a previous comment with regards to the colour scheme being a 'wrap' - but have been informed otherwise that it's a pucker paint job with a different kind of finish - so no need for buffing/polishing up. The waiting time is a bit of a pain to say the least - and I'm hoping they can ramp up production.
Showing my age here but my first thought when I first saw the eV6 was Citroen DS. There is something about the long wheelbase and the roofline which reminds me of the iconic DS.
After having driven combustion engine Kias, where I had to keep my hand on the gear stick to remind me not to switch the wipers on when I wanted to indicate, I love the fact that the indicator switch is on the left.
The indicators should be on the right hand side, if you go to Japan or Australia you'll find they are. It's due to European manufacturers not wanting to switch their indicators. Kia / Hyundai and the Japanese manufactures relented and started to do it the incorrect side too.
Your overview of the design and bringing in other brands into the design is spot on …… totally agree with you …… do not understand why manufacturers do not have the rear view mirror switchable to a camera improving rear visibility ….. some cars are now getting this option, this car needs that option …… if I was in the market for an EV would definitely have this as an option !
Love the look of the EV6. Especially in the dark blue colour. However I just felt the interior quality/feel let it down a bit. Lots of tech in that car though and really nice to drive.
great review. i currently drive the vw id4 which is a good car except for the controls which are dangerous if you want to change heat or lane assist your taking your eyes of the road a few other annoying niggles sometime the door wont open properly. so I'm looking at the ev6 and the best offer to change will cost me €14000 my car is one year old its loosing a lot of money after one year i know in my heart I'll have a better car but my head is telling me 14 grand is to much. its a bit of a Dilemma
Thanks for this fantastic review and we cannot wait to get our GT-Line AWD Snow white pearl full house, ordered in November with 12 months delivery time. We pay most for the car in Switzerland 🇨🇭 and get it last? You name the problem in your video. What to do if you need your 🚙 by August 2022? Have driven the rear wheel drive already and even my wife enjoyed it very much. For 1.73 m and 1.56 m persons seating positions are perfect. Test car had seat and mirror memory function for different drivers. Hope only that Kia will upgrade software for battery 🔋 pre-heating before delivery. We had already minus 7 Degrees centigrades here…
Just wondering if you will be test driving and reviewing the 2025 EV6? Drove the AWD GT line today and loved it. Great steering, smooth and really well integrated tech. Love the ability to change most things like a normal car and it’s not all buried in the screens. Great car
All electric vehicles are great but to me Kia did what Tesla did not - HUD, passenger power seat, ventilated seats and full driver display. Ride and power with the dual motor version are great. And I find that the EV 6 is a real "head turner"
A great effort but still not tempting enough for me... Keep them coming and I'll maybe get tempted... Styling much, much much better than Tesla (not difficult)... Rear side part not very nice though.. Actual rear very interesting.. Rear passengers suffer in most EVs the thigh support is non existant.. I'm patiently waiting for the review of the Toyota BZ4X....
Seen a number of reviews of this car. Seems brilliant. Nobody mentions software-updates though. Do I have to go back to the dealer for that? At what cost? Would not prefer over the air control, sorry, updates like Tesla's, but am not so fond of dealers either.
Same here. I ordered in October and originally was given March followed quickly by ‘a vague Q2’ and after a test drive a month ago I now can’t get an indicative date. Mind you all the manufacturers are in the same boat. I test drove one on Friday and was impressed by the spec of a rear wheel drive version of this spec. I could not find satnav sub display either in the central display or the head up display. Tech, drive experience and finish superior in the BMW i4 as you would expect.
Have you driven polestar 2 would love to hear comments on that as I really liked your comments on the EV6 as I’m really keen on buying either one cheers Noel
@Noel, yes, we have plenty of experience of the Polestar 2. Have you seen our latest video testing it against the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3? We’ve also tested the smaller battery, single motor car.
The i4 is more of the traditional BMW sporting saloon, whereas the EV6 is a bit more family-car-with-a-sporting-edge (if that makes sense?). If it was a mainly for a driver and you don't need the extra practicality the EV6 brings, arguably the i4 drives better. However, in terms of what the EV6 gives for the money, I'd say it is the better "all-rounder". Hope that helps, and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@kenross6028 If you choose the i4 with the MSport Pro Pack that has adaptive damping, then it isn't so much a softer ride, but better damping composure. That said, the Kia is geared more towards comfort than the BMW, has a longer wheelbase too, so the ride is a bit softer.
It is certainly smaller than those two cars in terms of interior space, especially headroom. I love the Ioniq 5, and have much respect for the ID.4 (we have a triple test with the new GTX variant coming in January) but as I am just a short wee fella, I chose dynamics and looks! But you are correct in what you say.
@@AutoEV drove the gtx on the weekend, great car. Its a toss up now between that and the ioniq 5. Can get a decent discount on the gtx too, which makes them more comparible. Heart says Ioniq, head says gtx
Great review goes without saying now; the only quibble I have is a general one (and perhaps just me), but to describe these as ‘compact’? - unless you’ve shrunk it looks very big to me, as is the Ionic 5.
I suppose I refer to them as compact as I see the EQC, e-tron and iX3 as mid-size. But you are right, they aren't exactly small. I just look at full-size SUVs as XC90s, Range Rovers, Grand Cherokee's, etc.
Another great review. The EV6 wasn’t on my fleet scheme when I had to make a choice in September but I did try the Ionic 5 which was fabulous apart from the practicality of the boot being too shallow. I ended up ordering a Q4 40 S-Line which currently is now end of March delivery. I’m sure the EV6 would have been near the top of my list given how it seems to top the Ionic 5. I will say all the EV’s I’ve tried have been great - the Q4 was the best choice at the time from me (Ionic 5 very close runner up though) but things are changing so rapidly in this market.
You've missed out on naming another EV that uses the same architecture floor plan as this EV6 and IONIQ 5, that EV is the Genesis GV60, same 2900 mm wheel base as this car, same KW capacity, same 800v dc 350kw charge speeds but obviously a different style in the design.
Nope, we mention the Genesis, and mention it in quite a few videos. Really looking forward to seeing where that brand goes. We’ve driven a G70 hybrid (on an industry test day) and we’re impressed. Looking forward to sampling the GV60.
Is the heating working ok and the car starts when you put it into drive, as people are having problems with car not going into gear zombie mode and when it’s on heat it blows cold air.
Wat is max range of this AWD and what different between this and RWD. is that really big different to drive AWD and RWD in the snow? is there als big different of the range between AWD and RWD?
I can’t see anything official form Kia about this, but I’ve looked on some forums for you and there is mention of Thule having a kit for the EV6. Irrespective of this, have you heard of a company called Sea Sucker? They make a very clever system that uses two sucking clamps that can secure a bicycle to the roof of the car (you need to remove the front wheel) that may not have fixings for a rack. I’m sorry I can’t give a more definitive answer, but if you need a rack for the roof and Kia or Thule don’t do one, then I’d really suggest having a look at the Sea Sucker. I used to have a very good customer who used one on his Aston Martin with a very expensive carbon framed road bike and he drove all over Europe with it without fault. Hope that helps. Bryan.
@@AutoEV sorry I thought I replied and thanked you for your response! Kia is looking into it for me. I’m going to look into the Sea Sucker in the meantime. Much appreciated!
Highly enjoyable as always, thank you. Is the EV6 a design feat, though ? The Honda e is. The Taycan and the Polestar 2, in their respective segments, stand out too. Even the EQS is remarkable as it sets a revolutionary design language for Mercedes, and for electric cars in general, where substance (aerodynamics) trumps appearance (a giant egg). But the EV6? It looks just like the next SUV-ish blob with more chaotic lines thrown here and there. The Ioniq 5, on the other hand, despite being yet another SUV, has found an original design language. Let's not argue about the beauty and the eye of the beholder and all that. Anyway, the EV6 certainly changes everything for Kia. What changes everything for the rest of the world (or, at least, the automotive world) is Toyota finally coming out of the woods on electrification and Lexus going 100% electric...
I think I still prefer the looks of Ioniq 5 especially the interior. Not sure if I will be able to get one... but will try. This was a really good review. The EV6 still looks good, but I feel I would feel cramped inside it. Nice work!
Personally i like the design and looks of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 better. And one more thing: Why are so many new cars black and dark on the inside? Black seats, black ceiling? For me, it's kind of depressing. That's why I like the Ioniq 5 much better! Light interior, light ceiling and white background on the infotainment!
I agree with your point on the interior. Back in my car selling days with Aston Martin, I always advised my customers to specify a light headlining so as not to make it too oppressive inside. The Ioniq 5 interior is much more airy and light, although I am not so keen on the white instrument background.
I agree in that the top of the range model Ionic5 was lovely on the inside with light fake leather interior … but it was so much more expensive than an EV6 GT line with 77KWh battery, so I have my EV6 RWD …
Kia EV6 is nowadays the "best" EV by a mile, it just ticks most if not all the boxes. If i required such a huge car, this would be my choice hands down, i went for the smaller brother and even more efficient eNiro.
Can't agree that the EV6 is a good looking car. If the Nero is a Hippo then the EV6 is a Dung Beetle, its hideous! I was hoping it looked better is the metal but it's no better.. The Ionic 5 looks like nothing else but the EV6 is a mish mash of styling ques.. It's a real shame as EVs should be so much better but it doesn't look like 50k car..

Thank you for this excellent review! I purchased an AWD EV6 in May 2022 (Wind) and have been very happy with the vehicle. Your review convinced me to purchase the EV6..Great work!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Your support is appreciated.
Seeing this car driving around here. It's an absolute stunner.
Best review on EV6, takes his time so we get details other reviewers miss.
Thank you very much. Glad you are enjoying what we do.
I am now waiting for delivery of an ev-6 duel motor. Your videos are great introductions to the car.
Glad you like them!
Excellent Review matey!
Thank you kind sir! Another 4 reviews coming up before Christmas, so stay tuned!
Maybe get one with 12,000 miles range and charge it once a year then?
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 Fully agree... a little better argued than my reply... but same outcome... silly comment!
I appreciate that, thank you. And thank you for watching and taking the time to comment all the way from Canada. Lovely place!
Just found this review. Excellent. So glad I'm picking mine up soon.
Good choice!
As mentioned elsewhere I just hope KIA aren't a victim of their own success and delay delivery - ordered on the 10/12 - delivery expected late May 😞
But really love the style and what's on offer - and it was the only EV that caught my eye currently
What colour did you go for? I want to order one in Ireland, but they aren't taking any more preorders this year.
@@peterdonnellan I've gone for the mat grey - though I'm thinking of changing to the black? Plenty of time to decide due to the long wait.
Same here. I ordered mine on 25th Oct 2021, which is expected March 2022 (so I'm told). Matt grey with heat pump cost me £45,495 - AWD GT Line S.
It would make a lot of sense. Thank you for watching and for your courteous comment.
You can turn on the reverse camera while driving. It doesn't appear on the mirror, but on the touch screen.
@@amperformance7998 ok that’s good idea, multi-Tasking …… I presume a women’s idea ? NOT !
You wanted a camera for improving rear visibility, the EV6 has one.
Like the ev6 so much i have one on order
Super review... Would love one of these on my channel (or driveway).
First review that I see for your channel, and only can say 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽....
Great car
Already filmed it, just editing it now and should be out in the next week or so.
fluent balanced review- want one!
All electric vehicles are great but to me Kia did what Tesla did not - HUD, passenger power seat, ventilated seats and full driver display. Ride and power with the dual motor version are great. And I find that the EV 6 is a real "head turner"
Can’t wait to get mine in January
A great effort but still not tempting enough for me... Keep them coming and I'll maybe get tempted...
Styling much, much much better than Tesla (not difficult)... Rear side part not very nice though.. Actual rear very interesting..
Rear passengers suffer in most EVs the thigh support is non existant..
I'm patiently waiting for the review of the Toyota BZ4X....
Nice car but I think I'm gonna wait for XPeng to arrive in the UK
One notch better than a Tesla, also superb build quality.
Great review, very clearly presented.
Thank you for your support and comment Reginald. Great to have you watching.
I'm probably buying one beginning of next year 😊 Lookin forward to it
Seen a number of reviews of this car. Seems brilliant. Nobody mentions software-updates though. Do I have to go back to the dealer for that? At what cost? Would not prefer over the air control, sorry, updates like Tesla's, but am not so fond of dealers either.
Nice review. Does this car have / will it have OTA (not just for maps updates)? How good is the driving assistance compared to others?
Out of the PEV's $65K and down, which is your favorite of which you've reviewed? Why?
I’ve ordered a BMW i4 but can’t get a production date from them. So looking at my options and I might just of found what I’m looking for 👍
The EV6 does not appear to have the expensive low conductivity coolant as the ioniq5, which requires a costly $1000CAD replacement every 3 years.
Cracking review
How would you say the EV6 compares to the i4 you tested? Really enjoying your reviews!
Thanks for the response. Final question, which car (the EV6 or i4) would you say has a somewhat softer ride? Thanks!
Would you choose the EV6 Earth or the equivalent Ioniq 5 with the same size battery?
EV6 every time. I like the Ioniq 5, but I prefer the Kia.
It's a good car but in the crossover market, we found it a bit too small inside compared to the Ioniq 5 and id4. Nice bit of kit though.
Can anyone comment on fitting a dog cage please?
Our pooch needs a medium sized cage and the sloping roofline concerns me.
How’s the ground clearance? Is the ev6 capable for off-road?
I wouldn't class it as an "off-roader". A wet field would be its limit I'd suggest.
I have just ordered the kia ev6 awd gt s line with heat pump and its a 31 weeks wait for delivery... 😂😂.. I hope it comes before that but i doubt it
hmmm, heading to my local dealer for a looksee!
Love my EV6. It’s a great EV. Just waiting to install solar pv in February.
Is the heating working ok and the car starts when you put it into drive, as people are having problems with car not going into gear zombie mode and when it’s on heat it blows cold air.
This car was fine, but we were alerted to that by Kia themselves. It does look like they have solved the issue however.
@@AutoEV thanks for replying.
I'm 6' 1" and this car is plenty tall in the cabin for me.
Good to know. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Wat is max range of this AWD and what different between this and RWD.
is that really big different to drive AWD and RWD in the snow?
is there als big different of the range between AWD and RWD?
@Roben I cover the differences in range differences in the usability section.
And I haven’t driven either in the snow, so can’t offer an opinion, but I’ve no doubt there will be a difference.
@@AutoEV can you put the car in RWD instead of AWD?
Can you take the AWD off?
Can we put a bike rack on the roof? Thank you for the review!
Nice review. Many thanks. ……l
Nice work!
With the GV60 coming soon this is going to get good in 2022.
why are the camera focus on the driver, i like to see the car inside . All testdriver make this fail🤨
I'm just wondering why KIA call it 6 and not 1 through 5. Anyway I think it looks better than Tesla Model 3.
Because they're going to make many models. The EV9 has recently been announced.
it’s the size for the new generation.
Better than ENiro?
Yes, but that is because the EV6 is so good, not because the e-Niro isn't.
@@AutoEV many thanks for both excellent reviews. Look forward to your comments on the new eniro when it arrives in 22.
@@AutoEV and the small sunroof (especially compared to the Model Y) doesn’t help…
I still think that rear end is horrible 😜
Different strokes for different folks. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment though. Its really appreciated.
