Thank you so much for this video… I lost my husband, he did the weed whacking, and had no idea how to do this. I was asking neighbors for help then remembered my husband telling me that if I ever need help with anything…. Just UA-cam it♥️
Well, I'm sorry about your husband but your comment made my day so thank you! Glad I could help!
I don't think you guys that do these "how to" videos understand how much you impact lives. It is such a good feeling to do something yourself and not always have to ask for help. Thank you!!!!
Such a great comment! Thank you, and I'm glad this helped!
Whoever invented this needs to get paid big! I took it apart to do it the old fashioned way and then landed at this video… boy was I making it harder than it needed to be
👍🙂
I started doing the same thing and remembered I had a wind up head for my echo and wondered if this was similar. Sure enough...😂
The same happened to me…thank God for UA-cam videos
Thanks 😊
🙂👍
We look for nice short unembellished videos and you hit the nail on the head. Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you!!! I am 70 years old and your video helped me tremendously. God bless!!!
Great! Glad I could help!
Very very helpful. Thank you. I have an old Stihl trimmer and you have to take that thing all apart and wind up two separate strings. I thought this was going to be the same thing so I took the whole thing apart. Then I was wondering how it worked since it looked to be easier than my old trimmer. Found your video and everything makes sense. So much easier.
Glad this helped. Thanks for the feedback!
Very clear HELPFUL video, thank you for making it! My trimmer only has 1 white line on it, so I couldn't match the pieces using 2 white lines, but it went together easily and works perfectly. Yippee!
Great. Thanks for the comment!
Cheers, mate. Tried mine out for the first time today and got it snagged on some stringy grass at my mum's place and snapped the line. Just pulled the cord out and re-fed it through as per your video. 👍
Great!
Beauty. Thanks for not complicating the instructions.
🙂🙂
Thank you so much. I was having trouble getting it done, really good explanation 😮
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this detailed video! Some other guy on UA-cam Took the head apart to restring it and it was a pain! I'm glad I found your video.
Great. Thanks for the comment!
I wanted to tell you thank you. My husband is out of town and my neighbor wanted to borrow our weed whacker. However, he didn’t know how to restring it. I threw up your video and did it myself. Very helpful. Thank you.❤
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
This was so helpful!!...short, sweet and right to the point!
Thanks!
Both ends broke off and I never remember how the spool works. Videos like this really help jog my memory! 👍
🙂👍
That was a VERY helpful video! Thank you!
And whoever came up with that design is a freaking GENIUS.
🙂👍
Great vid. Very clear and helpful. Watched it on my driveway as I restrung mine! Thanks again
You're welcome!
Dude thank you, I havent been able to trim because for the life of me I could not figure out to to restring this thing.
I thought I did it correctly, and then it would work for a minute and all the string would wind out. I was doing it just the completely incorrect way.
You saved me. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad this was helpful!
I was stressing on how I was going to replace this. Thank you!!!
YW!
Good tutorial. Very short and saying exactli what to do. No confussion. Congrats got my suscripción and like. Thank you so much. Muchas gracias.😊

Great!
Because of thos to the point easy video. I am now a subscriber sir!! Thank you!
Great! Thank you!
This was the DeWalt tool that finished converting me to tools that were conventionally gas. This thing has some serious cajones. Really all the DeWalt 20V tools do
Agreed, it's a nice tool and plenty of power.
Thanks for sharing this task; big help this morning!!!!
Great! Thanks!
Lol oh may I was doing it the wrong way.. I took it out and manually winding it...your video helped so much!. now I can go weed my weeds cause husband says thinks I don't much all day. 😊
😄😄

Worked like a charm😢. Soooo thankful.

YW!
Absolutely! I had no idea, even my neighbors didn’t!
👍👍
Thank you! You saved me 2hrs!!!
Great!
Thanks for keeping this short!
😄👍
I struggled mightily to get my Dewalt string to comply with your instructions, but because of something you didn't tell me, I was unable to do so. My spool still had string on it so the new string wouldn't go through. I spent hours on the phone with support, then I visited a local repair shop sho spotted the problem right away. Easy fix.
😯
Thanks Super easy and Flyers hat as a bonus
😁😁
Thank you...clear and to the point..excellent

Thank you for helping me
Now I can go weed eat before hubby gets home 😊
😄👍
Awesome, thanks for sharing. 🤙🏾
🙂👍
Thanks for video. When the string gets short while trimming how does it put out more string?.
You tap the head lightly on the ground while it's spinning at mostly full speed. This allows a tiny bit of string to release and you'll hear the metal blade cutting the string when it gets long enough.
Good video no BS just the facts man. Keep it up.
Thanks!
Thank you very helpful
🙂👍
thanks man stopped vid at play with it but very helpful
👍
Short and correct. Good job
Thanks 👍👍
Amazing. Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
😁👍
You the best brotha god bless🤞🏾
Thanks!!!
Thank you sir very helpful!
YW!
Thanks for the video👍
🙂👍
Thank you so much!!

Thank you. Too bad DeWalt didn't consider that those 2 white lines would be completely covered by regular, normal use. I heated up a screwdriver blade and melted my lines in for next time.
👍👍
👍
The lines will fade. But lining up the hole is easy. Once you know what to do.
Just shine a light through the back side.
Instead of doing that just look down the shaft of the hole to see other side.
Thanks so much!!!🎉
You're welcome!
Loaded as directed but I'm still having issues with it overfeeding the line and spooling up around the shaft. Any pointers would be appreciated👍
It's feeding out too much string? This is usually caused by the string being wound the wrong direction on the spool. Since this weedeater winds it automatically, perhaps the string is too curled when you feed it thru and it goes the wrong direction on the spool?
You'll need to remove the string and try again. The straighter the string before feeding it in, the more likely you won't have the problem.
Brilliant.
Thank you
Thanks!
Thanks!
🙂👍
When I tired to reload mine both parts spin . Like I can't line up the holes because no matter ehat I do both sides spin with each other .
Man i feel stupid, i was trying to restring it by removing the spool, this method is so much easier
You're not the first or the last to do that, and you'll never do that again so congrats on saving yourself some time!
You don't have to keep twisting the cap to load the string you can hold the bottom portion of it and just ratchet the top portion
amazing
I owe you a beer my friend
🙂👍
Like bro, work for me today...👍🌞
Awesome 👍
Thanks for you help
👍🙂
thanks!
YW 👍
I hope the guy who invented that got rich af off of that idea…
Probably not. He probably got an extra dance with the bosses wife at the Christmas party.
Maybe got a tug in Thailand with the company card?
Agreed
Definitely at least a "happy ending".🤣
Presidential material that man is 👏👏👏
Can you add more string while it still spinning? Minimize down time.
Of course. And don't wear gloves. Those will just get in the way.
Awesome!
🙂👍
Great video! Short and to the point
Thanks!
Perfect, thank you!!!!!!
👍😁
Bruh 🤦 I'm never telling my mom how I learned this hack.... all this time I been taking off the plastic piece. And now I never have to take the plastic off again
😁😁
what size string do you recommend?
Needs to be 0.080" diameter.
Great video. nice and quick. However, I just want to stress. COUNTERCLOCKWISE spinning of the spool to feed the wire. Don't ask how I know. Hello from Calabogie Ontario
🙂👍
What do I do with the little bit of line still in the head?
Remove it, then add new string. If you need to know how to access the little bit that remains, here's a video:
ua-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/v-deo.html
What do you do when the string breaks?
If you need to remove the string because one end broke and won't extend, use this video to take the cap off to access the string: ua-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/v-deo.html
Thank you!!
👍🙂
Short and sweet. That's what we need. Thanks
Thanks!
thanks
🙂👍
That’s cool, except I don’t have those lines on my Dewalt and it’s brand new. In top of that I do see some weed whacker line still in the spool, too bad you couldn’t through a little more of these details. Guess I’ll figure out how to open it up
How to open it: ua-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/v-deo.html
I tried his method. My Dewalt unwinds while spinning without bumping. Any ideas?
A few days ago another user (@chrisallen640) said he solved this same problem by using Dewalt string (which happens to be smooth, not textured) and wound the string tight when winding.
Thank you!
🙂👍
thank you
YW!
Your an angel
👍
How much string do I cut before I feed?
20 feet max. 15-20 feet is perfect.
@@FixEverythingYourself makes sense
Thank you! Your doing the Lords work.(-=
🙂👍
Hello, how are you? I have a problem. I have the same machine and I did the whole procedure, but when I wanted to use it, the whole thread ran out.
Most likely you wound the string in the wrong direction somehow. Perhaps the string got in the wrong channel during loading? Whatever happened, the string running out quickly is usually because the string is wound the wrong way on the spool.
Same here. You can only wind it one direction. Not ising dewalt string. Maybe that's it?
That's possible but I wouldn't think so. But it's worth a try because you'll need more string sooner or later. Hard to say and I haven't had that problem.
If you figure it out, please reply with how you fixed it. Thanks!
@@FixEverythingYourself so, an update. I did switch to dewalt string and still experienced the same issue to a lesser degree. But, I did figure out how to stop it. So while feeding the string, if I keep the string tight while turning the dial, it loads the string tighter and that seems to have solved it. Next I will try that with other string to verify but I suspect it will be fine. The difference in my 3rs party sting and the dewalt is the dewalt is smooth and the other has edges. Like star shaped. The manual says to use only smooth so that probably aided in my problem.
Thanks for following up on how you fixed it. Makes sense.
