Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)
A medley of two songs written for the 1967 film, Hair, originally recorded by The 5th Dimension as the lead-off track for their album, The Age of Aquarius. When released as a single in 1969, the song would climb to the number one spot on both the Billboard Easy Listening, and Billboard Hot 100 charts, the latter of which holding for six weeks. The following year it would earn the group two Grammys, one for Record of the Year, and one for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group.
...But wait, there's more, as "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" also holds the honor of being ranked #66 on Billboard's list of the Greatest Songs of All Time.
Fun fact, the instrumental track for the medley was originally recorded in Los Angeles, while the vocals were done in Las Vegas. The two were then mixed together in the studio, and the rest is history.
