Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Many of the performances will be seen for the first time since they were originally televised. I will be adding many musical performances from a variety of sources that I hope you will enjoy. Indeed...graceful aging..."As of 1991"; this was videotaped going on nearly "34" years ago, as of here in 2024...and only "23" years had past when "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" was first recorded in late 1968...so, it's all a matter of perspective. Unfortunately, time does not hold back for no one; we sadly lost tenor Ronald Townson in August of 2001, more than 20 years ago. Time stops for nobody...BUT...continues...in "The Age Of Aquarius"...where The Sun always Shines!

I love how the singers just leave the band in the dust when Let The Sunshine In part starts. These guys don't need no band! They nail their vocals without backing tracks!
20 years after their hit and they're all still wonderful. They've aged great, too. The heavy dude lost some weight, "someone" lost some hair and the girls are still knockout gorgeous. Now I wish I could give a thousand thumbs up to the commenter below who pointed out THE CLASS of the girls. They didn't have to be vulgar to be successful cause they had TALENT.
Sadly Ron has passed away . Marilyn & Billy live in Los Angeles 👍💕

Glad that I had the opportunity to go to a BBQ at Ron Townsend's house in the 70s with my sister and brother in law.

True talent at it's best...remember this song on the radio one morning as I was going to school in 3rd grade. Such a big hit.
@Bill Miles I was in the 4th Grade. I remember they had us all go out on the play field and hold hands in a huge circle and sang this song. It was more like an anthem of the 60s!

The 5th Dimension had many synschonicities working in their favour in the earlier days, particularly the pure fluke of how they came to record Aquarius, the biggest-selling hit worldwide of 1969. So yes, I'd say the angelic 5D were heaven sent and just meant to be!

ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. WHAT A GREAT GROUP WITH FANTASTIC HARMONIES. So many hits, so many memories. The GREAT music (and groups), NEVER gets old.
Just watched the documentary on the Black Woodstock concert that took place in Harlem 1969. It featured The Fifth Dimension and their performance is a wonderful highlight of the film.
Can't wait for Summer of Soul to hit the UK. I've seen brief clips of the 5D performing in front of tens of thousands of people and just leaves you wanting more!

When he made his comeback in 2013 things had changed so much from the way Pop Culture was in the 90's and with Evening Talkshows that it wasn't the same anymore. There was also the competition of the other Evening Talkshows. It's a Different Era of Talkshows now. Unlike the Johnny Carson, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and the Others were. If only he had come back 2004 that special something and his Popularity would've still been there. Early 2000's were different.

The only really successful, good, worth listening to, rock groups are those which practice endlessly and know their parts. The 5th Dimension has that ability. Their parts are locked in and rote. No guessing at whether they'll be on key or not. They hit it every time. It's sad to have to face the reality of their aging and passage in time. Thankfully, the music is on record forever.
