Cesar Romero: The Prankster Jack Nicholson: The Mobster Mark Hamill: The Joker Heath Ledger: The Anarchist Joaquin Phoenix: The Psycho Jared Leto: GTA Online Protagonist
The only 2 characters to win an oscar twice, portrayed by different actors. Vito Corleone: "Marlon Brando" and "Robert De Niro" The Joker: "Heath Ledger" and "Joaquin Phoenix"
The Joker is one of those characters which only the most skilled Directors and Storytellers can bring to life. It's a character that brings out the inner artistry.
The reason for Joker being liked by many is everyone is that Joker in some way or another represents our inner most feeling. Even Batman knows that he is similar to Joker in many ways.
I haven't seen Jack Nicholson's version to be fair BUT I loved Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. It was mesmerizing and he absolutely took that movie to the next level. I think I do have a slight preference towards Joaquin's joker though, purely because you got to spend more time with him and the mental health aspect was done so well and is something I deeply related to and appreciated seeing on screen. The quote "The worst part about having a mental illness is people expect you to behave like you don't" sealed the deal for me.
I liked Joaquin Phoenix's performance because of his dance scene on the stairs however, Heath Ledger is by far the best Joker of all-time. If he were alive, he'd be proud of Joaquin, what connects both actors is the two of them won their respective Oscars, my humble opinion.
Let me be the one to address the elephant in the rooms. Jared Leto's Joker from suicide squad. Why isn't it rememberable like others? I'll tell you. Its because other then look he didn't have the personality of the Joker. He came off more as a flamboyant gangster rather the a psychopath. The joker in all of these versions saw the world as a joke. He became a symbol of it. Jared Leto's version was just a tough guy in clown make up. Do I blame Leto? No, he's a great actor it wasn't his fault. I blame the writers for not understanding who the joker was. I blame the director for not allowing Jared to display this version. All they did was make him look like a clown theme thug. Rather then an icon.
Also the nature of each Jokers victims delineates their archetype. Tim Burton’s gangster Joker goes after rival gang members, then targets the press and local authority figures. Christopher Nolan’s joker targets financial institutions then begins to target large public areas and “symbols of power” in Gotham which a terrorist would target. Todd Phillips Joker targets people or places that he feels psychologically harmed by much like a lone gun man would.
Profound and Deeper Analysis into the Joker Adaptations. Now I know how The Joker can be Adapted in Many Masterpieces. Mysterious and Powerful, without and with, Joker still one of the Most Famous Villain in Cinema History and Pop Culture.
The fact that the Joker is inspired by The Man Who Laughs, but until this day we don't have a interpretation of the Joker truly based on this "source" amuses me.
Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix are the best Jokers ever. Their performances are some of the best I have ever seen. There is always something about Nicholson's Joker that doesn't quite connect with me. He is just too playful and unrealistic. And I am also personally not the biggest fan of Nicholson's heavy overacting. I prefer the approach from The Dark Knight and Joker where they made the Joker a dark product of society.
I love this channel so much. I love the content: so deep, informative and through. I love the narrator's voice: so smooth and sexy in an old-fashioned sort of way.
Those were great performances in different ways and points of views. But honestly, for me the best Joker is not from the movies... Is from the Cartoon Network TV Show and he has the voice of Mark Hamill (most epic laugh in Joker's representations).
My favorite joker is Ledger's. He is not a clown, he is not actually crazy. He is cold headed and calculating, he has a plan, a point to proove. He just wants us to think he is crazy, while trying to proove we are all as deranged as him.
Honestly, as much as I love joker, I think its time to give other DC villains more exploration in Batman movies - Mr. Freeze, Poision Ivy or even Harley in particular.
Different strokes for different folks. For me, Heath Ledger's character above all, as he represented the current-days crafty street criminality against the establishment, available in any world city. Jack Nicholson played it superbly (I mean, it was Jack Nicholson) but the production design was aimed as a dark comic park theme, more for a Saturday night TV movie. Joaquin Phoenix's character is complex, a by-product of ill societies, poor education and limited opportunities... a true expression of modern day sociopathy.
Frankly with characters like these I don't care about faithful representation as their original versions are way waaaay too comical for my taste. I judge on who put the best performance and evolved the character beyond mere comics. So for me, by an extremely long shot, it's *Heath Ledger* . I don't think any iteration will ever beat his, at least for me.
Very nice video - good exploration of how each Joker reflects the vision of its respective film - I'd like to see a film showcasing Jared Leto's Joker, if only out of fairness, to tie up loose ends - his character kept getting sidelined, so IMO we never got a proper look at him as a concept - I still prefer these in your video, but I'd like to see what Ayer and Leto really had in mind, esp since people have such strong opinions about Leto's version
Hard to say which one is better but I would say I like the joker with joaquin phoenix. The structure, the increase in tension is the charm of this film. You already know the other films of the Joker and this film tells the story of how it came about through the circumstances of his life. The film ends where the other films begin.
from not shaving the mustache to locking himself in a room....that’s where the bar has been raised.....though leto fail as joker but he did feel the pressure
Hey there, we do have a video on Roger Deakin's Cinematography! Watch the video and read the article when you have a moment: www.studiobinder.com/blog/roger-deakins-cinematography/ Cheers! 🎬
Burton is whimsical and cartoon on the other side Nolan's is grimm and superb. Philips is child like and of course its the origin of the JOKER, hahaha!. Favorite Nolan's Jokers Heathe Ledger
While Joaquin Phoenix's Joker is outstanding and well done but I don't think he is "The Joker" because of his age compared to Bruce Wayne. He would be a really old man by the time Bruce became The Batman. How he could work into the Batman universe is if Joaquin Phoenix's Joker became the mentor or inspiration for the new Joker that goes against Batman. Perhaps they meet in the insane asylum.
Classic and an often overlooked Joker! Feel free to check out the super list of the best actors playing Joker: www.studiobinder.com/blog/best-joker-actor/ We definitely put Romero in there. Let us know what you think! 🎬✌🏻
Heath’s Joker >>> Nicholson’s Joker >>> Phoenix’s Joker Phoenix did a great acting job, but there is nooooo way that Phoenix’s Joker would give Batman a problem 🤷🏾♂️.
Who's your favorite joker? 🃏
StudioBinder ledger 🙌🙌
LETO! 😍
SAID NO ONE EVER 💩
Heath Ledger's joker is the best!
Joaquin Phoenix, obviously
Dude amazing
"And were going to totally ignore the suicide squad joker ever existed"
Yes
Who?
What Suicide Squad Joker?
😂🤣😂
Not fair
Cesar Romero: The Prankster
Jack Nicholson: The Mobster
Mark Hamill: The Joker
Heath Ledger: The Anarchist
Joaquin Phoenix: The Psycho
Jared Leto: GTA Online Protagonist
Rock N' Roll 👍
Heath is anarchist, and a rebel of society norm
😂😂😂 GTA Online Protagonist 😂😂😂 you mean
lol the leto one

Not even one mentions about leto's joker..
*Slow claps*
What amuses me is Nolan's the Dark Knight is pg-13. But I find it scarier than the joker movie.
It is, but it's just because of the scale of that movie. In Joker, the approach is more intimate and personal
@@LuisSierra42 agreed
So sad it's a pg-13. Nolan should have gone further for R. The pencil and the lip cutting scenes are unrealistic, no blood at all.
@@mrlajel yeah how would the lip cut kill that guy lol
@@mrlajel You don't need blood for it to be realistic. Less is more.
I'll always have a soft spot for Nicholson's Joker.
its because of your age. im 41 as well lol

Heath ledger : (Action violent killer)
Joaquin phonenix : (sentiment silent killer)

I find it amusing the most diverse takes on the Joker has been outside of comics. The evolution of the Joker in films has been fascinating.
@Chris Lancaster huh? You seem to be discussing something else entirely.
Let's give Joker a break now there's plenty of Batman rogues gallery who need their screentime adaptations.
The Batman is going to have The Penguin and The Riddler.
@@h8today I can't wait hope it's good
@Zach Higgins please no. He's not even in my 10 of batman villians
@@h8today yeah but they will work up to the joker too in that one i would love to see mark hamill as a live cartoon joker
none like the joker though lol
I loved how you entirely ignored Jared Leto's joker.

Heath Ledger is an icon
The fact that the Joker is inspired by The Man Who Laughs, but until this day we don't have a interpretation of the Joker truly based on this "source" amuses me.
I feel that all three of them could also be different stages of the Joker's life. From the beginning, middle and even the end.
this channel's such a great resource, it deserves more views

I heard they chose that red suit because it was similar to caeser romeros
My favorite joker is Ledger's.

The 2 suicide squad fans that saw this are mad
Honestly, as much as I love joker, I think its time to give other DC villains more exploration in Batman movies - Mr. Freeze, Poision Ivy or even Harley in particular.
ledger was a tough one to go up against, but phoenix did it. bravo 👏

Jack Nicholson - Classic
Heath Ledger - Chaos
Joaquin Phoenix's - Injured
Jared Leto's - Disaster

Might have been nice to include the Joker from the original 60s Batman TV series for further contrast.
Yeah, he was campy but comics-accurate during the '60s, lol!
Great Video.
The joker from the Gotham tv series was also one i enjoyed watching.
Joaquin by far. The most three-dimensional and relatable. A real character, not a caricature

Kind of ironic how Ledger’s Joker design blends in more with the world even though Phoenix’s one was the one made by the world. Very interesting

Awesome, The Joker is my favorite Villain
very difficult choice i love them all for different reasons.....
Leto’s joker is good but not excellent. It’s not easy to be in the middle, between Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix
Perfect performance. Congratulations
Joker who's 3 steps ahead of his enemies ❤️.
Heath Ledger will forever remain the best, but applause to Joaquin Phoenix
I agree.

Forget Nicholson, that's a disgrace! It's ludicrous to put him into the same sentence with Ledger or Phoenix! Interesting video though.

Joker is old in comics, not a young person.

Emil Dahl interesting, given the time period in the movie, is that a video theory you got a link to, or a theory you read?
@Emil Dahl as in that the 'real' joker that haunts batman is one of the imposers/fans of Phoenix joker?
