    I don't drink caffeine, but I take a supplement called Nitric Balance from Apex Energetics. One of its ingredients is ATP. Is there a best time of day to take this if I want to sleep at night or should I avoid it all together? Let me know. Thanks, Dr. Rettner.

      Your body produces around 1kg of ATP per kg of body weight per day which is almost instantly used again. I’m not aware that ATP supplements have any effect. Can you provide reasoning for supplementing mg of ATP?

    Good explanition.. I am really interested and i would like to know more.. What about the old people do they get old because their adenosine is used up so many times so they are tired?.. If so, then how? We are talking about chemical structure.. How a carbon atom get tired??

      I don't think so. Adenosine docks onto certain receptors in the brain, through that you get tired. Adenosine itself doesn't get tired. It is being recycled while you sleep. Maybe you could say that because elderly people tend to sleep less, they tend to have more adenosine floating around which makes them more tired (but this is just speculation).

      Probably look at how you wake up in the morning and your whole daily routine which includes stress and not managing your day well can create a lot of sleep problems and that would be a great place to start

    Thank you for this video. May I suggest that you take speech therapy or training in order to speak more slow, clear, precise?. Also your speech could be supported by more (but minimalistic) visuals to help understanding. I wish the best of success

      Thanks Gomo! Is it the pronouncing of words, meaning the speed is Okay but the words are unclear? Or is it the speed is to fast but the speech is understandable?

      Regarding the visuals, I definitely will implement that more, I want to keep it minimal because I want people to watch or listen only and still get all the information

      @@xylongevity Yes, I got very intrigued by the aesthetics of the thumbnail, which is clear, precise, minimal, scientific, modern - it just evokes the pleasant anticipation of going to learn something profound with no BS in a joyous manner. For my personal taste the focus of the video (of the actual visual of the video) is too much on the person and not too much on the subject, meaning that my attentiveness goes first and foremost towards your face and how you look like and only secondly to the actual subject. Maybe a bit more distance to the lense could help here, or a juxtaposition with more explanatory visuals... but yeah if you're leaning towards a more auditive podcast-like format, it doesn't really matter actually. Thanks for taking time for my opinion, all the best

      @@xylongevity Don't get me wrong, your way of speaking is quite pleasant, this is criticism on a high level since I'm seeing you as an account with hundreds of thousands of followers if you continue to provide quality content. But walking around my space and listening to you made me wish for you to just open your mouth more decidedly, at some points you're going into a quite deep creaky voice, and combined with a rather closed mouth motion it suppresses a bit of the clarity (which I expect from a scientific channel)... with just three or four hours of a competent speech trainer you'll see huge improvements I'm sure

    I'm getting tired (pardon the pun) of my chronic fatigue; it's ruining my life. I only get 1/3 as much done as I could without the damn fatigue. You said too much adenosine was found in sleep deprived rats. HUH ??? If the rats had too much adenosine, then why don't they sleep like a baby, and have extremely good sleep ??
    I need to finish the video. Maybe you will explain. Aarre Peltomaa

    I wish that my bleeping body could add 3 more phosphates to my copious Adenosine and make more Adenosine Triphosphate !! How could we get it to do that on demand ?? In my dreams. I think that I'm swimming in Adenosine, and I need more ATP instead. My mitochondria need ATP, NOT 'A'.
    Aarre Peltomaa (chronically fatigued, and 'tired' of it !) p.s. If you can figure out how to force the body to convert more Adenosine to Adenosine Triphosphate on demand, you will be a millionaire in 5 seconds !!

      No because the quantity of receptors is dynamically regulated by the body. It’s not like you build them and they never degrade

What I mean btw was that while they're still there, they'll be able to pump out the extra Adenosine (built over months of bad sleep) more in a shorter amount of time... so they'll be kept by the body as long as the receptors are busy w Adenosine.. once Adenosine is flushed, over a week or so lets say, they can get degarded thats fine... but you're brain is fully flushed of extra adenosine.. and you feel fresh again in the mornings! Is that right?

      So there’s generally 2 types of „evidence“ that something works. 1) is physiological or „mechanics“ 2) is empirical research (observations, control group etc). Mechanically it could work as you said, however it’s not always that we have the full picture of mechanics so it might not for reasons undisclosed. Only way to find out is to try it out. I’m generally a supporter of mechanics because studies have great limitations too, but you gotta see it from both sides. But it’s a good thought your going into the right direction thinking about the body from this systematic pov, keep it up!
