It’s so wonderful to see someone from a younger generation react to and receive so much joy from the music of my youth. Thank you for all of your reactions and for keeping music from my generation alive.
maybe he can lead a movement to appreciate our old stuff, without having to nail him to a board and force feed him the family tree of music and the resulting dead leaves we squelch through daily I bought a synth to time travel back to the 80's hopefully i wont need the drugs but its good to reminisce
I agree with that!!!! Listening to it was like being catapulted to another world...a divine world at that. It's time for me to start listening to this spectacular music again! ;)
"Give a Little Bit" is an equally successful Supertramp song but radically different: awash in 12-string guitar, the lyrics are totally positive, without irony or cynicism.
Yes I like the way you do that do a deep analysis of the band in the song you need to check out their Blu-ray live in Paris 1979 you can really experience the band
When my Dad first brought “Breakfast in America” home, and we dropped the needle on it, I spent the next hour laughing out loud and whooping with sheer joy - actual happy tears - just at the sound of it. What a musical wonder they were.
Without sounding corny I’m 60 yrs old now and boy I can remember waiting for albums from these 70’s - 80’s bands to come out and sitting and listening with anticipation to every single song on the those albums. What fun the music was. Good times. I miss that
Great to see someone half my age or less enjoying Supertramp. Bravo for getting into it sir. The beautiful clarity of production that matches the genius songwriting is rarely matched even in today's digital recording world.
I met Roger Hodgson at the RINGO ALL STARR BAND concert in Vegas in 2001. Before the show...he came out into the section right in front of the stage to talk to people.
Love Supertramp! As a "gifted" child, who went against the grain, this was a theme of mine. In the 80s, they did get more poppish. Check out their "It's Raining Again."
They were very creative with using all kinds of sounds and techniques to blend into a unique sound. Similar to Pink Floyd, they were geniuses at doing that, and being unique and _good_ (and fun). And I think criminally underrated, even at the time -- I was the only one of my friends that listened to them. Their Top 5 are just about as good as anyone else's.
SalvoG, I was only 8 y/o when this song was released, but even as a young child (who was going thru hell)... it hit me hard. The instrumentals are insane (harmonica, Sax etc.,) but the lyrics...they kill me. This song is a timeless story. Loved your reaction!!🥰
This album came out in my senior year of high school. The faculty director of our senior class play was a huge Supertramp fan, so our play was an avante-garde production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" entirely set to Supertramp music. The '70s were great!
live the reaction .one of my fav bands every album especially hodgson and his solo stuff, best sax player imo ever.. crisis what crisis is a must do. thanks man
I told you this band was right up your alley. The 70’s was full of Prog Rock bands. Supertramp was my favorite. Their whole catalog is great. Crime of the Century, Even in the Quiietest Moments, Breakfast in America. All incredible songs.
What a great reaction! You're right, his voice is Geddy-esque. Supertramp (like Steely Dan or Rush) can be incredibly complex, but the production makes it so smooth and perfect.
You definitely have to check out "Goodbye Stranger" it's from the same album, it has a KILLER guitar solo towards the end!! Great song, I put it right up there with The Logical Song and Take The Long Way Home.
Don't know if you've done these songs by Supertramp yet, but they are all outstanding: Goodbye Stranger Long Way Home Give a Little Bit It's Raining Again
I didn't see any reactions on your Playlist yet to Al Stewart. I think you'd love Year of the Cat and Time Passages. I don't know why I made the leap from Supertramp to this other than you'd appreciate the musical excellence
OMG So I have Despicable Me 2 on in the background. I started listening to this and I realized the movie was at the end, during the wedding reception scene, and all the Minions started dancing to the same beat, it was hilarious 😂
AWESOME! Watching you react was such a treat! The pure joy on your face like a kid in the candy store!!! I loved it! Made my day! Thank you thank you for sharing!!! I will be watching this one over and over!!!
Roger Hodgson was/is an excellent lyricist. Very deep! Very well thought out! There is a pretty extensive body of work to pick from with Supertramp. Also check out some of Roger Hodgson solo work on an album titled "Eye If The Storm" released in 1984. The track "Had A Dream" became very popular at that time due to MTV playing the "Had A Dream" video in heavy rotation. The lyrics to that tune are once again very deep and thought provoking. Thanks for picking Supertramp for a reaction.
I love the history you provide. I listened to a lot of the bands you react to back in the day. Didn’t know most of what you researched about the music. Thank you 😘
The best Groups for me in the 70's and 80's was Supertramp and Elo.Please make a reaction Video from Elo.Twilight,Don't bring me down,Mr. Bluesky and many other Songs
The Professor of Rock taught us that, at 9:07, one can hear the sound played from a handheld Mattel Electronics Football game when a touchdown is scored. The band played the game between takes. Edit: Yes in fact, change of possession, not a score.
the sound is from the mattel football game, but it's the sound when you fail to score after the 4th down, and the "ref" blows his whistle. the touchdown is more of a "chaaaarge" sound. whenever i hear it in this song i'm taken back to my 5th period history class in 1979. two guys in the back of the room would play it, and when i heard that sound i'd see them pass the game back and forth under their desks. that is until the teacher had enough and confiscated the game until class was over.
It would be amazing if artists would make music like these nowadays, the creativity and variety was wonderful back then. It was a great time to grow up in. Pure talent and no auto-tune.
Supertramp along with Yes.....Pink Floyd......Steely Dan.....Led Zeppelin.......CCR......Fleetwood Mac.........Rush......are one of those High Tier bands that create fantastic music and song and are among the gods of Rock n' Roll.....Great reaction....and I witness them making their debut in the music world.....bought their albums but nevver seen them in concert.....wish that I had......lol......go bak and listen to the song without stopping or pausing it!!!!
A very different Supertramp sound: "Downstream" - a soft ballad with grand piano. From the same album, "Fool's Overture" - a prog suite repeated twice, once instrumental then with words.
Their production was so good that their albums were always A+ by a stereo sound magazine I read back in the day! They would use their music to test the equipment. And somehow it wasn't sterile. True artists.
Fun fact about this album, they recorded it in the same studio as Fleetwood Mac while Fleetwood Mac was recording thier 1979 album Tusk (the album after Rumours). At the Village Recorder in Los Angeles. They were in the studio right down the hallway from Fleetwood Mac. I wonder if they ever hung out with each other during that time. I would imagine they did here and there.
This song for me is like a companion piece to "Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man)" by Styx, with "Logical Song" being a first person account, and "Angry Young Man" being the third person perspective of the same character.
Huge album, #1 in the US for 7 weeks, multiple Grammy nominations (won three, I believe), spawned several hits, but I think the REAL GEM on the album is the closer - “Child of Vision”. It’s truly epic.
Went to an all-boys boarding school in Australia, 8th grade thru 12th (‘79-‘83). Had its great moments but if you were bullied (and I was, constantly), there was no escape. I wasn’t sent there to become “logical”; I was in the way of family strife, so it was convenient for them to get rid of me for a few years. I’m still in touch with a few good mates from those years, it’s not all bad.

Hi Salvo, Please look for all the live Supertramp videos on UA-cam. They are so cool to see as well as hear. Roger Hodgson was asked to be lead singer for "Yes", but he was already working with Rick Davies and turned it down. Roger actually did most of the arrangements on their songs. They all worked 12 hours a day with weekends off when working on a studio album. Please check out "Another Man's Woman" live. It is amazing.
Funny, on my way home the radio played Supertramp's "It's Raining Again". Now I am watching you react to Supertramp. It brought fond memories. It doesn't seem real that this album was before your time, when I still remember purchasing the album. Gotta go, got to watch you react to "Bloody Well Right"... that should be fun.
Thanks for the Supertramp reaction! I always have loved them! I was in my 20s in the 1980s & it makes me so happy to see someone so much younger discovering my music for the 1st time & really appreciating it! My fav song by them is Cannonball, if you wanna add that one to your todo list. But I loved it coz it was a hit when I caught my abusive ex-husband cheating on me & it was my go-to anthym for awhile! Lol! But I love the song on it's on merit - not bcoz of my ex & that whole situation! I love your channel here + the sleep sounds channel. The new one over on that channel is wonderful! Hope you had a wonderful holiday! God bless!!
It’s so wonderful to see someone from a younger generation react to and receive so much joy from the music of my youth. Thank you for all of your reactions and for keeping music from my generation alive.
My sentiments exactly!
I agree 100%! I love Salvo's reactions..... I feel badly for this generation and their "music"
maybe he can lead a movement to appreciate our old stuff, without having to nail him to a board and force feed him the family tree of music and the resulting dead leaves we squelch through daily
I bought a synth to time travel back to the 80's hopefully i wont need the drugs but its good to reminisce
I agree. I was born in 1967. My favorite band Chicago was from 1960s. We had so many great bands. Too many to count
He has great reactions; such a joy to watch!
The whole “Breakfast In America” album is masterpiece. Dig into it!
I agree with that!!!! Listening to it was like being catapulted to another world...a divine world at that. It's time for me to start listening to this spectacular music again! ;)
"Breakfast In America" is an album that needs to be listened to in its entirety. It's friggin' phenomenal
"Give a Little Bit" is an equally successful Supertramp song but radically different: awash in 12-string guitar, the lyrics are totally positive, without irony or cynicism.
Give A Little Bit...yeah! I gotta go listen to it now. Talk about uplifting!!!
@@mbrights3158 gotta listen to that again!!❤
That's what I like the most about Supertramp... everything sounds different and varied and interesting. Their music is what I call happy music genre.
Love this! Glad you got to this one. ❤😊😀 please do their song, “Goodbye Stranger” next
I love the epic guitar solo towards the end of that one!!
Loved it for years
This is their biggest hit
Yes I like the way you do that do a deep analysis of the band in the song you need to check out their Blu-ray live in Paris 1979 you can really experience the band
Any Supertramp is great music. The writing is superb
Simple great music!
When my Dad first brought “Breakfast in America” home, and we dropped the needle on it, I spent the next hour laughing out loud and whooping with sheer joy - actual happy tears - just at the sound of it.
What a musical wonder they were.

YES!!! Supertramp-this song was fantastic 🔥
Pre 80's Supertramp is outstanding. Roger Hodgson is one of the finest songwriters to ever grace the earth.
Excellent band, great song. I love Supertramp.
Your heading for the rabbit hole, better known as Supertramp 😎
Yay!!! This takes me way back. Love this
These are my high school years...Styx, Supertramp, Journey, etc. So glad you are enjoying them.
I met Roger Hodgson at the RINGO ALL STARR BAND concert in Vegas in 2001. Before the show...he came out into the section right in front of the stage to talk to people.
Love watching someone listening and loving our music from the past..for me, it's still the present
Beautiful transitions mind blowing sax!!!!
One of my ultimate favourite songs by Supertramp is, Give a Little Bit (original version).
Love Supertramp! As a "gifted" child, who went against the grain, this was a theme of mine. In the 80s, they did get more poppish. Check out their "It's Raining Again."

Yes, definitely under rated
one my favorite songs on one of my fav. albums. complete enjoyment.
Chef's kiss to this song!!!!!!
"From now on" from their prior album "Even in the quietest moment" also a great song.
This song was huge when it was released. I probably wore out my copy of the album (sigh, vinyl was king) from the constant repeats
I'm waiting for the Broadway production of Supertramp The Musical.
Summer of 1979, Alpine Valley, Wisconsin - best concert I ever went to. I remember like yesterday. I am an old man in body , but still 19 in my mind!
Great reaction. I wore this song out back in the day.
Lead singer Roger Hodgson. He's still touring, at the age of 72.
Check out "Give a Little Bit" and "Goodbye Stranger".
This album came out in my senior year of high school. The faculty director of our senior class play was a huge Supertramp fan, so our play was an avante-garde production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" entirely set to Supertramp music. The '70s were great!
logical lyrics, cool classic, and nice music,🥸🧐🤓
I love the playfulness between him and the sax at the end!
The words actually meant something in these older songs!! I love seeing your reactions to songs I basically grew up on!
Anything off of their Crime of the Century LP really . This is a top 5 rock album ever. It's a concept album progish
This is one of the most recognizable songs ever! From the first two or three piano strokes.
live the reaction .one of my fav bands every album especially hodgson and his solo stuff, best sax player imo ever.. crisis what crisis is a must do. thanks man
This album is perfection! Not a bad song on it. My personal favorite is Child of vision. Good reaction here.
The Breakfast in America album is killer from beginning to end.
What a treat here cannot wait to watch! Good band to get into love you
Thank you. A fave group of my, well, younger days.
I told you this band was right up your alley. The 70’s was full of Prog Rock bands. Supertramp was my favorite. Their whole catalog is great. Crime of the Century, Even in the Quiietest Moments, Breakfast in America. All incredible songs.
Love your reaction !
COMPOSING MUSIC IS TRUE TALENT👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What a great reaction! You're right, his voice is Geddy-esque. Supertramp (like Steely Dan or Rush) can be incredibly complex, but the production makes it so smooth and perfect.
Great song! Brings back so many memories!
You definitely have to check out "Goodbye Stranger" it's from the same album, it has a KILLER guitar solo towards the end!! Great song, I put it right up there with The Logical Song and Take The Long Way Home.
I recommend you watch the 1979 live version, it's phenomenal! ☺
Don't know if you've done these songs by Supertramp yet, but they are all outstanding:
Goodbye Stranger
Long Way Home
Give a Little Bit
It's Raining Again
Anytime a sax is relevant in every song. The band is top shelf.
Love your reaction
Goodbye Stranger is good too.
You had me at Geddy. I've seen rush 9 times and every concert was perfect. Love supertramp as well.
Don't worry so much about your format. You do great . And you getting enjoyment from them is fantastic to see
Please more albums the supertramp
I think this is one of the best songs ever written.
This is the theme tune to my life. There is a great live version from Paris worth checking out.
This is a fantastic album for a long drive.
I love the sax in this song, this whole song is a masterpiece and one of my favorites!
Glad you're enjoying Supertramp - I think that you might really enjoy their song 'Goodbye Stranger'
I didn't see any reactions on your Playlist yet to Al Stewart. I think you'd love Year of the Cat and Time Passages. I don't know why I made the leap from Supertramp to this other than you'd appreciate the musical excellence

Brilliant reaction. Banging group. I was lucky to see them live in Paris in 1979 i had one of the best times ever.
It's just as good live.

Me and my friends played this album over and over and over!! One of my favorite albums of the 70"s.
GOODBYE STRANGER- SUPERTRAMP......wow...
Extremely relevant today…

In one of those, "wait, what?" technical points in music, the saxophone, while actually made of brass, is a woodwind. Believe it or not!

Yep. Breakfast in America bro.
YAAAAY! ✌️❤️😁!!.
This song for me is like a companion piece to "Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man)" by Styx, with "Logical Song" being a first person account, and "Angry Young Man" being the third person perspective of the same character.
So much fun watching you react to the musical soundtrack of the decades past. Keep up the great work.
Grabbed the Breakfast in America album when in university back in the '70's. Such a unique sound Supertramp had - love it!
Huge album, #1 in the US for 7 weeks, multiple Grammy nominations (won three, I believe), spawned several hits, but I think the REAL GEM on the album is the closer - “Child of Vision”. It’s truly epic.
Love that crazy piano, mind-blowing groove.
It was otherworldly and entirely captivating ;o)

Breakfast in America was probably the biggest album of 1979.
