Wow, where do you find these old lighters? It makes me sad that these beautiful works of art were replaced by cheap, disposable plastic lighters and then smoking was essentially banned. What a collection you must have! Always enjoy these videos. I love restorations of things from times I wished I lived in. Everything was built to last and there were beautiful decorations on the simplest things.
What a wonderful restoration. It looked as though there wasn't much that could be done for it. You really brought back to life. You definitely have a talent for restoration. Danke.
Hi bro.. thank you so much for your heart..my idead was, a black tea in a normal, daily used cup.a daily workers cup. (hard workers are like that) i think will do magic.. (.5 is kept with many viewers) Thaaaaaaankss bro, again from India.. nice work
Bien cordialement Dan 🇨🇵👍🙏
Great restoration work.. And it is satisfying that you allow us the opportunity for ASMR when you just work and it's the tools that do the talking.. Kudos!!!
Well you are 1 great Restorer. 😊. I really enjoyed watching you work your magic on this old beautiful lighter. You really do have a great way if bringing everything back to life. Thanks for sharing your video with us. 10/10 😊 Stay safe and healthy. Greetings from Fairfield California USA 😊😊
Nice job! Now it just needs some kind of cap for the wick to prevent lighter fluid for evaporating. Perhaps something like a spent cartridge would fit the theme.
Curious that someone was willing to give up this rare piece of heritage. I imagine it is challenging to restore items like this sensibly and to preserve its originality.
This guy DOES NOT RESTORE ANYTHING... HE TAKES A CLEAN ITEM AND COOKS SUGAR AND DIRT ONTO IT, HE DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO CLEAN IT BECAUSE HE JUST SHIWS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE. EFOR HE COVERED IT IN FAKE RUST.. ALL HIS ITEMS ARE BRASS.. BRASS DOESNT RUST!
The lighter is quite nice but not very practical, inconvenient to use and carry, and there is no cap... If I were building such a lighter, I would make a cap out of the projectile, which would work like in modern zippo lighters, for example... The video is great :) Renovation 10/10 :) Greetings from Poland
What kind of skin? Leather? As for as i know leather is not 100% waterproof. But rating the job still a 9. That 1 point is because of the edit. We missed a few shots or I did not pay attention. Did you repair the crack/split. And did you use water the first time. There was no info or was it a secret :)..
Brass can oxidize a darker brown, red and green, you're probably thinking of copper I also have no idea what the point of this comment was supposed to be, telling us it wasn't old? Okay I guess
An object that is about 100 years old looks like this. Metal rusts, non-ferrous metals oxidize and patina. This is normal. It's surprising that someone thinks that it is painted))))

These weren't commercially made, they were made by soldiers during war, typically WWI, hence the name “trench lighter”

It really turned out amazingly well. The leather absorber washer should be reversed, skin side facing the bolt head though. Keep up the great work!

Hello, you doing great job. please can you tell me which camera you had used for this video..? its a mobile phone or camera...? Thank you.
Ça à une histoire
I've been a sub for awhile, you do fantastic work. To answer your question, i do believe that this piece is circa WWII.
Precious
Huh that baseball "Grenade" is alot smaller then I was led to believe...
If the person who originally owned that lighter, l am sure they would be delighted if they could see it now. 9

If you want to wipe solder off something, putting a little flux on the rag helps a lot.

Use some of that steel wool as a desoldering wick next time.
Where do you get these old lighters? I love these videos.
Can be purchased at auctions with old antiques or found at excavations
Thanks!😉👍
Great work. Curious why you didn’t solder them back together?
Thank you!👍😉
Be careful💓

Why not use a fiber ring or rubber ring as gasket?
The skin seals better

What ring?
@@TheRestorer To put into the hole...
That is not a grenade. It is a bullet casing fitted onto a brass door knob.
Honestly I think it would look better if the ammo looked like brass but that's just my opinion.🤷♂️
can i got one of that old lighter ?
Querru saber e tá minha tîopa 🎉.
🤔😉
It's trench art WWI
Why do you use acid on one and coke & baking soda on another. Not questioning just nosy lol
Iron (red) rust on brass... really? It supposed to be green. Next time paint it green, might gonna believe ;)

rust spilled from the metal parts. it is obvious.
