I'm amazed at the beauty of this dagger after restoration. Each step showed another level of improvement I wouldn't have thought possible. The level of craftsmanship seen on the final result is unfortunately no longer available in today's culture. Excellent work, sir!

The truth is, as some comment, it looks like a letter opener, the fact that it looks like some type of alloy similar to brass (That's what it seems to me) corroborates this, the material is so soft that by polishing it, you have eaten the nerve of the blade in the two sides, it is not a combat dagger, far from it. 😐😑😶
This restoration was very well done. Thank you for not playing any music as it can be so distracting. As I have read in a few comments, this piece is a letter opener. I do believe we would have known for sure if you would have tried to put an edge on the blade. Also most combat daggers tended to not be so flashy as to bring attention to it during use. A fine letter opener and you did a wonderful restoration on this piece. I would be proud to own such a piece.

As usual your work is amazing, I'd never have thought of using electrolysis to feel the holes. Now this dagger is gorgeous ! And by the way, your dispatch case for your Dremel tools is absolutely unbelievable I didn't even know so large cases were existing for Dremel. I thought mine was complete carrying my tools all around the drill, but in fact when seeing yours I need to reconsider. It even looks like there's another level under.
😊 Love the results! I didn't think there would be enough metal left for no mending at all. What a wonderful restoration. What about putting a gemstone in the oval in the handle? 😊
Any assassin would appreciate your result. Easily concealed and identified by touch, the elaborate decoration that slides without snagging. A long, thin, surgically smooth blade that penetrates deep and allows the cut to close long enough to prevent initial obvious external bleeding. You have indeed restored this weapon, and made an historical statement at the same time.

From the style and design, I believe that’s actually meant to be a letter opener. Though I could most certainly be wrong.

Looks like a letter (wax seal) opener and the back would be a seal stamp? I saw something similar on an antique desk once.
