I give it a nine! The quality of the work is wonderful and I loved seeing the various parts cleaned, restored, polished and brought back into perfect working order. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is the lack of background and dialog explaining what the restorer did and why he chose to do it "that way". I'm a history enthusiast and would have liked to know when these lighters first became available and how much they cost when new as opposed to what they're selling for now. Love watching these restorations, very calm and peaceful. It's very hypnotic ( for me anyway), and I love the fact there's no talking. Just letting your work speak for you. Excellent ❤
I give it a 10. Beautiful restoration. I don't understand how folks are saying it's fake 🤔 it's definitely not like one of those carpet restorations where they pull a carpet out of their back yard after covering it with mud and dirt and call it a restoration. Your work is beautiful! And folks saying it's boring, you mispronounced relaxing. This stuff puts me to sleep because it's so chill and fun to watch.
Probably calling it fake because most of the corrosion was the wrong color to be as old as claimed, and there is no way that cotton wading would come out that clean. It would absolutely have corrosion staining and darkening on it. Plus rust and corrosion on the wood (possible plastic) parts of the lighter body? No extreme putting of the metal? The thin wire spring would be metal dust and debris given the exterior corrosion as well. Very suspicious.

I've seen a lighter like that before at a gun show. I was told it's a commemorative lighter for the duck hunters assoc. in 1930s England sponsored by the Parker shotgun co (now owned by Remington). Apparently Teddy Roosevelt received one after a duck hunting expedition. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it does fit.
The restoration was beautiful. Definitely a 10. What I also noticed and enjoyed was that the only sound was each piece being struck, rubbed or dropped, even the fizz of the coke and baking soda. 😊 This is a cool video.

So corroded that all the screw threads came undone with nice clean threads. I also noticed your first squirts of oil knocked off most of the corrosion. The little brass cover around the wick was bright and shiny. I've fixed and restored enough vintage engineering and mechanical stuff in my life to know what I'm seeing.
Is that the olympic rings that are engraved into the duck? If so, this lighter might be connected to the 1928 olympic games. The Australian sculler, Bobby Pearce, slowed down to let a duck and her ducklings cross the canal they were racing on... in the middle of the race! 🙂
I am not so sure they're the Olympic rings...I paused the playback and enlarged the image, and the rings are random, and there are more than 5 of them, all over the top half of the duck. Good idea, though!
Just been reading up on MrBobby Pearce.. well worth a look. Only lost one race, (finished 2nd) an under 16s' event, he was 6! went on to win everything else he entered in his lifetime! the Duck race; the competitor he was up against went 5 lengths clear and was still beaten by 30 seconds... He held a world record for something like 40 years, only beaten in 1979... An astonishing guy. Instead of just saying fake, can you give a time stamp where there is evidence? Not sure about you but I’m not seeing anything and the devil is in the details. Wearing gloves, covering the tips of the tools that come into contact with sensitive parts and the methodology he uses to restore is a pretty solid regimen. Why do all of that if it’s just fake to get views? It would be a waste of time. I could be wrong though. Evidence is important before dismissal of someone’s hard work. Me ha gustado mucho el resultado. El mechero es muy bonito. Creo que lo has hecho muy bien. Te doy un diez.
Espero que alguien te de pistas sobre su origen, sería bordarlo.

Ukrainian/Russian/Eastern European style lighter from 1930-50's. The Duck motif is stainless steel or aluminium? Its a very satisfying video. The restorer's ability is very good. This is the first ever restoration video i have seen and am most happy to rate this video 7/10. Congratulations.
