Restoration of MYSTERY Dirty Piece - but what's INSIDE?

- Hello folks! Today I will show you the restoration of what I do not know. It's mystery dirty piece. We will find out more precisely later in the video. It's simple - my friend is searching for metal underground with a metal detector. He gave me old things more than once, and this time he found a piece of clay petrified and said not to be I'm giving you this item. Well, I'm starting to restore the most interesting!
Firstly, with the help of a mason's hammer, I broke the clay and found that, true, there was a piece of metal there! But what is it? After cleaning 90% of the clay, I placed the item in a rust remover. Hours later, I took out, removed the remaining earth from the object and washed it in water along with cleaning agent. I removed the remaining old rust with a sandblaster.
Next, I started adjusting the cutting edge and sanding the surface of the cleaver. After that, I started polishing the blade. The handle of this knife I made of plastic and beech wood. Brass rivets used. I also made a leather case, not a scabbard - it's just more convenient to store the item this way. I hope you enjoy this restoration video! Thanks for your attention!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

That was seriously impressive work Alex. You made an excellent blade from something that looked like it dropped from the back end of a Bear. Much respect my friend. 👍
Hi! Thank you for your feedback and interest! ^_^
Ha ha, you're right. It did look like something that came out of the back end of a bear.

Hopefully you mean before the restoration l😜
Boring
That is really impressive work! The fact that you were able to salvage anything from that is incredible!
Thank you!
surprising that you could even find a piece of metal like that under so much rust, clay, and debris. looks like a great piece!
Thanks! And I think there will be gold) In any case, the metal turned out to be of high quality
Is he sure that wasn’t just a piece of fecal matter that somehow grew a knife? 😅
Hahah))
Absolutely impressive restoration! I love it! Such a beautiful work!
You have progressed from being a metal restorer to being a magician, I did not think you would make such a great looking tool from that lump of rust. Great work. That handle looked very nice.
Thank you for your attention and for continuing to watch me)
What an amazing piece of metal! To have survived in its original condition and then hold an edge like it does would seem impossible to believe, but I saw it myself. Excellent job!
Thank you!
Amazing Roadrunner I don’t think I know anyone that would have attempted that restoration you truly are the best of the best my friend 👍👍👍😊😊😊♥️
Alex! ,once again Wow! To take something that has been buried 100 plus years and restore it to perfection is masterful! You truly are a mastercraftsman!!! All the very best to You and Yours from Brian in awe from Southern California
Greetings Brian! Thank you for your interest and for staying with me.
Simplemente GENIAL...
I understand that the popular format for videos like this is for very little talking, but I see a great opportunity for discussion about techniques because You are so well spoken, perhaps a secondary format where you discuss a project or the history of a piece that you restored. I think I would love something like that.
Greetings! Thank you for your interest. I want to tell you that my English is not perfect and I don't speak it 100% and I can make mistakes in times. So I try to keep quiet)
@@ScrewsAndTools For someone who clearly did not grow up speaking English, you are pretty damn good at it. It takes a little bit of effort to hear through your accent, so to speak, but for me at least it is worth it. The few grammar and syntax mistakes I hear you make are insignificant. I am absolutely positive that your English is far better than my Georgian will ever be. 😅
We both know that the only way to get better at something is practicing. Do you have anyone local to you with whom to practice English?
If you would rather just keep making videos the way you’ve been doing that will be fine with me. Honestly, I subscribed because I enjoy watching you turn what others consider a lost cause into something useful and beautiful. This one is a perfect example. I started to read the description but stopped partway through because I would rather watch the process than read about it. I honestly was a little concerned that you might try to weld on an extension to make a knife out of it again but I think you did the right thing making a mini cleaver out of it. It sure looks like a useful general shop tool too.
@@markfergerson2145 Thanks for understanding. Yes, I'm practicing, but maybe I'm ashamed to make mistakes. After all, my videos are sometimes watched by a lot of people, but you're right, nothing will work out without practice. I will think about your advice.
I.e. it would be better yes if I would tell a brief history of the subject. My voice against the background of my work. For example, in a 2-minute for exmp?
@@ScrewsAndTools Ah, mistakes are nothing to be ashamed of, you’ve shown us many and we understand because we have been there and done that too. Well some of us at least.
It’s your channel, so you should probably do as you think best. I won’t mind if you decide to do voice overs though. I can learn to do something new too.
Maybe a slow, humorous description voice over, like Hand Tool Rescue? Don’t worry about your English skill. It sounds really nice when someone is learning and trying. It’s very genuine. And it shows your natural character. People will like that. Don’t think about it too much; just try it. Best of luck :)
Unbelievable what was underneath all that muck turned out to be a very nice little utility knife Fantastic work would love to own something like that
Hi, thanks for your attention. Is it a knife? I'm a little confused, many wrote it's a razor or a cleaver
Amazing ingenunity! Awesome craftmanship!
Boa noite, vc é um restaurador magnifico parabéns ❤
Beautiful Restoration
👍👍
Perfect work! I found with metal detector lots of pieces like this.
Great video. And as I remember, from the video of the "Кузница Велунда" channel, steel only gets better when it is in the ground, since iron molecules are taken from it and appear in it in small quantities instead of them alloying substances that prolong the life of the tool, from which axes, swords and other tools are still found during excavations.
Hello, thank you for your attention. So it's true. that in the old days swords were specially buried in the ground to make them stronger?
@@ScrewsAndToolsSome forges did this, and those swords that are in museums simply because of circumstances have become so.

You made a beautiful little mini Cleaver. And a beautiful leather case for it. You really do great work. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing your next video.
Take care and have a blessed and beautiful weekend 😊😊
Thank you!
Such talent and skill. This looks reall good aster renovation 👏👏
The restoration and detail you put in to this old every day object matched a museum restoration, only the time patience were voluntary and tools and cleaning styles your own in some instances by the looks of it. Incredible work sir and a joy to watch, its an amazing working tool too. 100%
Hello and thank you for feedback!

Bravissimo, maestro!!! 😇🤝👨🏭👏👏🙏🙏🙏
Interesting! My tea is ready, and your video, too. Let's start ❤
Great work! 👍
Used by a farmer. Or for someone who was using it for the horses. Or for somebody surrounded by sheep. Someone who was working outside with the animals. I do not think it was for a soldier. It can cut small pieces of dead wood. For a fire, maybe.
Muy buen trabajo!
Te doy un 10!
Muy buen trabajador!!
I love that knife. You did amazing work!
