Rocky George is such an underrated guitarist. Lead guitarist for Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, AND Fishbone.
That solo!
I knew Rocky out in Hollywood nice guy...
Aladdin Sarsipius Souelemenachi Jackson the 3rd
FISHBOOOOOONE!!!!
Rico TRUER WORDS NEVER SPOKEN Rocky George is the Boss i was a suicidal Jihadist from the age of 14 1984 till 2012 Aotearoa new zealand the last of the four times I've seen suicidal tendencies over the years infectious grooves 3 time's ...... it's a long story but the last time I saw them got asked for me to bring some friends the next day extras for a infectious video did so the next morning and meet mike again who walked past us thanking us for showing up gets to me i say hi Mike and he gives me a look like i just took a shit in his Bandana walks away MY friends asked what the fuck did you say to him? I'm ah hi Mike? Then out comes one of his bum boy's and asked me if I had a different tee shirt i could wear .. Sure have i brought two at the gig last night WHY? ... mike said that the one you're wearing it's not a licensed tee shirt!!! This is in 2012 I've had that shirt since 1988 it's well it used to be white with a skull wearing a Bandana when I hang it on the washing line you can see the print on the front though the back it's that thin and old and yet because he didn't get 10 cents in royalty payments 24 years earlier he was a TOTAL FUCK WIT any way told his bumboy to tell Mike to stick his band and his video up his corporate whore asshole haven't listened to st since that day never whore the shirts i brought at that gig gave them away when he sings send me your money he means it nine years later I'm still more than pissed at his lies F&£k him
How Will I Laugh Tomorrow (when I can't even smile today)
this is a must
My favorite albumn ever
I wish the mix wasn't so muddled on that one...maybe muted is a better word
That song and Nobody Hears are both sort of personal anthems for me.
Lights, Camera, Revolution is such a banger of an album for top to bottom
🤘😝🤘
"banger" i love trendy, over used words
This is probably in my top 10 metal albums. Like you said, the whole damn album is great, start to finish.
Welcome to the church of Suicidal 😉😋
Agreed !!
Agreed one of my favorites on that album is "Give It Revolution".
“How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today” is also worth a reaction from Suicidal Tendencies.
Or Trip to the Brain.
Definitely ! and also Lights Camera Revolution!
I wrote on your other Suicidal Tendencies video about how much this band means to me and my life. I'm glad you are listening to more. Really positive attitude about self esteem and self acceptance.
Suicidal 4 Life!
Tell 'em what's up, Jeremy🎸
too bad they aren't better
Based. 💯👉🎯
yes brother me too!!! here after watching their first reaction too....ST4life 💙
True that Homie \mm/
S×T× helped me through my teens .
S×T× FOR LIFE .
This song and this WHOLE ALBUM walked me through the hallways of high school 🤘😁🤘
❤#Jungle gym🤣
🤘❤🇨🇦
Top notch band with one of the greatest most under rated guitarists in all metal!
Rocky is excellent!
2 - Mike Clark was Suicidal as fcuk.
@BYRRD I love Rocky as much as anyone but Mike Clark was a stunning rhythm guitarist as well!
Rocky was a exquisite lead player. Clark was a wicked good rhythm player. Robert rocked that bass. Probably the greatest suicidal lineup.
Fun fact: The former drummer of Slayer, Dave Lombardo, is now drumming for Suicidal.
I thought he left Suicidal to do Mr Bungle with Mike Patton and Scott Ian ?
@@steamwillrise I didn't hear any news of him leaving. Multiple projects is my guess.
Fun fat: the former bassist of Suicidal is now the bassist for Metallica.
@@2xkiller Met Trujillo & Muir in the early 90's at the Vic. Then Muir again in 2018 with Lombardo. They always hang out with fans... killer live show!
Tom Araya from Slayer and Ra Diaz current SxTx bass player did born in Chile, Viña del Mar. Regards
Been waiting for this. Since Lex is such a fan of Metallica she would be interested to know that Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo was first the bassist for Suicidal Tendencies...
Dave Lombardo is the drummer now
Not first bassist
true
@@kisscsaba7989 Dave isn’t the “official “ drummer he fills in on the drums for a few bands .. he gets bored fast
@@dariodifilippo5458 I believe Van means that Trujillo was in Suicidal Tendencies before Metallica not that Trujillo was the first Suicidal Tendencies bassist
Rocky George is one of the most under rated metal guitarists ever along with Andy LaRocque
Considering I see this comment 100x times on every video. I think you're wrong. The opinions of rolling stone and guitar world aren't absolute
I first heard of these guys around 1985 when i was in High School. Institutionalized was on a soundtrack for a movie called Repo-Man. Somehow i ended up with the cassette tape and ive been a fan of Suicidal now for almost 40 years and im still SuiCyco4Life. I learned about Black Flag the same day the same way. The repo-man soundtrack cassette. I cant recall from memory any of the other bands or songs on that soundtrack. I do know the Black Flag song was TV Party. And yes they were talking about television.
Empowered by M&Ms, 😅 I think I've heard it all now! Never change Lex, you are truly an original🤣
Cutest M&M story ever. 😄
She makes a good point, listening to thrash metal is kind of like getting a suger high.
All man, Rocky George one of the best underrated guitarist back then. Not to mention Robert Trujillo (Plays with Metallica now) was with them for some of their best albums. And went on to Infectious Grooves. All man the best days of music...miss it.
Thought it would never end
I just gave Rocky a shout out too. LEGEND. "Tell em wassup, Rocky!"
rocky george so f'n good
Pantera and suicidal tendencies are two bands that mean epic shedders and lyrics that relate to people who can relate
I can relate...
Truth
It's like a directed energy weapon. She feels it. She's a true metal head. That was me when this album came out. Just let it go !
Pantera was opening for Suicidal Tendencies and that was how Pantera had their first tour
@@Rudytattoo1 - Yep, saw them in Studio 54 around 1989. Metal Church opened, then Wasp, Followed by Pantera and Suicidal. What a show.
Fun fact: In the first Iron Man movie there's a scene where Tony Stark is working down in his workshop and the song he's listening to is by Suicidal Tendencies
Few people picked up on that. Lol
Suicidal!
What a song!
Underated band!
I was into these guys in the 1990's. Ice-T even did one of their songs: "institutionalized"
Respectable cover. Ice T was down with the SoCal scene
All I wanted was a Pepsi.
They also did one with Ozzy. (Therapy) Infectious Grove was the "Super band".
80's ST fan here... I had the pleasure of introducing Institutionalized to all the kids in the inpatient behavioral center I was in. It was a real "trip at the brain". 🤘😁
@@veloraloves 🤘🤘
War inside my head is a banger!!!
This song was written in response to them being banned from performing in LA. In the early 90's LA started cracking down on gangs so the logical response (sarcasm by the way) was to ban ST from playing venues because they looked like gang bangers and wore predominantly blue colors. So you can understand where the hostilities are coming from in the song.
theyve claimed not to have gang affiliation but there was a gang called the suicidals and there were gangs of punk skater kids from their scene
In all fairness their shows were blood baths in the 80s in LA with all the gang violence.
good lord, that late 80s metal production takes me straight back to 9th grade!
What a banger. Like many other commenters, this band got me through some real low points. It's relatable and that's appealing. Suicidal-4-Lyfe
I'm high as hell on M&M's RIGHT NOW.
Definitely one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums of that era.
I can also say I’ve seen at least 1,000 bands play live, and Suicidal back then still remains the craziest show/fans I’ve ever seen. It’s easy to see why they were banned to play live places! I think I was at the Warfield (or Fillmore) in SF seeing them around 1990 and a guy jumped off a 50 ft balcony into the fixed seats below. He left in an ambulance, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a paraplegic. I know I screwed up my ankle in the pit at the same show. I never went to another show without hightops after that!
This album mixed punk, thrash, funk, hardcore and some prog into a really cool blend. It was lightning in a bottle! I’ve seen them live maybe 10 times over the years and they still put on a good show today. Mike seems to still be doing his thing and nobody is bringing him down. 🤘
I just turned 49, I still get goosebumps and a wave of energy from this song. This was the soundtrack of my youth.
I saw ST open for Metallica in the early 90s, now Ironically their bass player is now in Metallica. 🤘
I mean, very cool, but is it ironic?!
@@kmvoss Yeah, poor word choice. Oh well.
Sucked when Robert left
"How Will I Laugh Tomorrow, When I Can't Even Smile Today" is one my Favorite Suicidal songs.
Best line of the song, "You wouldn't know crazy if Charles Manson was eating Froot Loops on your front porch"🤘ST for life!!!!🤘
How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today
The most underrated guitarist ever! Play with that shit Rock!!!
Brother you are bringing this song down. My sister knows where we are at. Bring your energy up my man. This is s very important song to so many of us.
Favorite band of all time!
Yes! Punk rock! Love Suicidal Tendencies and you can understand why they are so good.
This was the anthem of my High School experience...
poor kid in a rich town who could blast the shit out of the rest. Greatest song ever ❤️
One of the best songs by a legendary band. Glad to see younger generations are still giving it, and more importantly the band, a listen.
Need to listen to some Infectious Grooves. It's Mike's funkier side.
Sometimes you have to tell yourself you can't bring me down or just a situation. That's where I'm at today but I dig y'alls perspective of not letting things get to you so much.
Thank you Brad and Lex.
One of my favorite ST songs!!!!
Check out 'How Will I Laugh Tomorrow' also
Mikes rant towards the end is my all time favorite quote. Thanks for doing this one.
You guys should check out the songs "Nobody Hears" and "I Wasn't Meant to Feel This"(asleep at the wheel) from Suicidal Tendencies Art of Rebellion album.
Thank you for showcasing this song and band... this band was a big part of my High School years. AMAZING band!
You guys gotta check out some songs from the first album of Infectious Grooves. The band consisted of Mike Muir and Robert Trujillo of SS, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, and a few other notable musicians. Therapy, Stop Funk’n with My Head, I’m Gonna Be My King, or the title track would be a few good ones to choose from.
I remmeber seeing Suicidal in a small club in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Marlyn Manson and the Spooky Kids opened up for them) and it was absolutely EPIC!!! This song was so appropriate for where I was in my life at the time and it was really a motivator to drum to my own rhythm and do my own thing. It's great to hear this song again because it make me happy that I had to go through that to be who I am today. Thanks, Suicidal! I enjoyed your review! Peace!!!
I remember when this song was a new release and playing on MTV's Headbangers Ball.
my fav band of the 90's....SUICIDAL TENDENCIES !!!....HEAVY AS FUCK !!!
Well that was a vibe. Most of the stuff y’all react to I’ve heard before. This was a VIBE. I feel Lex. DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!
you two are great, as always love how brads focus is the lyrics and smiles along with good lines and Lex rocks out with the music, keep it up
such a great band, late 80s/early 90s, i would play this cassette as loud as possible in my walkman..saw them in concert back in the 90s, amazing show
Been an ST fan since the 80s! To see their progression, go from War inside my head, to institutionalised, to how will I laugh tomorrow. There are so many great tracks in between!
Finally saw them live a few years ago at download festival and loved it! I thought they might be a bit too old for some of the teenage angst songs (as am I!) but no, they were awesome!
Love these guys, and this is one of my favourites.
Fierce yet funny, that's a rare combination.
The systematic reaction pointed towards the system who relish in keeping you down.
You cant kill the spirit❤️
He wrote this song because Los Angeles County banned them from playing live in their county. He was saying he was going to rise no matter what they tried to do.
Lost Again, Join the Army and Go'n Breakdown are must listen to's!
Love your reactions! Thank you
I went to see them in LA in 89 and they played this song for the first time LOL the crowd went insane. very fun
They were my first concert. I went to see them, but they opened for queesnryche. This was at the Summit in Houston. I was going to take a piss and ran into Mike Muir. He was awesome and so nice. I’ll never forget it.
Wow. You know how a song can encapsulate a vivid fresh memory? I can taste the burnt tweek bowl and Kelly needs to put her pants back on before my clueless mom came home. 🤣🤣
The 90s were a helluva drug. 🤘
Fun fact. Dave Lombardo (formerly the drummer of Slayer) drums for the Suicidal Tendencies now :)
My all time favorite band.
Every song on the album “join the army“ is a hit. Check out: “suicidal maniac”, “war inside my head”, “Join the army”, “possessed to skate” … to name a few!
Awesome seeing you guys get into this! Great song!
This song was just beautifully reimagined . I think he saw something few see. I love the song org but awesome interpretation
My best friend, my eternal brother introduced me to ST .. this whole album brings back memories.. it was summer, dad just passed away and my brother played this song… it’s such a powerful strong
One of my all time favourite tunes and they came on to this live, good times x
Suicidal Tendencies started as a punk rock band, but crossed over into the thrash metal genre in 1987 after guitarists Rocky George & Mike Clark joined the band... Robert Trujillo joined on bass for this 1990 record... Both Jeff Hanneman (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums) of Slayer became fans. In fact, Lombardo is their current drummer 🤘
Suicidal broke up in 1995😪 but re-formed in 1997 w/ a new line-up. Vocalist 'Cyco Miko' Muir is the only original member.
Check out the songs:
'Lovely' ... 'I saw your mommy' ... 'How will I laugh tomorrow' ... 'Join the army' ... "Can't stop" ... 'Feel like sh*t deja vu'...🔥🔥🔥
Suicidal Tendencies in my top 3 favorite band's saw them in 94 with Danzig&Metallica the biggest mosh pit I've ever seen when Suicidal was playing. ST🤘 onecof my favorite line's Just Because You Don't Like It Don't Mean It Ain't No Good...check out Can't Stop or Go N' Breakdown,or Alone
Thanks so much for putting this up...keep putting it down. Core.
Saw them at a small club in '85. Remarkable show.
Lex certainly know how to have fun.
ST has so many good songs!
You listen, I’ll watch!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Suicidal mosh pits are one the craziest pits I've ever been in. One of the most underrated bands ever...
Nailed it with the Cemetery Gates comparison at the intro. I never thought of that correlation.
Mike Muir is the goat. This was a response to the old cancel culture from the other side. Props to Nico for the accuracy
“How can I laugh tomorrow” is one of their best.
Best guitar player in trash metal arguable... go Rocky! He sported a flat Pittsburgh pirates hat and fricking ROCKED!
Oh yeah he was black.
Mike says, "Tell them what's up Rocky", and he shreds. Love it! Rocky George needs to get more love!
He still is black. Lol
Not argument from me, Rocky is the greatest.
Great tune.. been a favorite since the album, dropped in the 80's😁
'How will I laugh tomorrow' has to be your next listen from ST.
You guys are great. Please keep doing these!
Suicidal Tendencies. There's always bands that live in the spaces between established genres. They're the space between NY hardcore and thrash. Fucking amazing. Lex feels all of that!
Institutionalized came out in 1983. You Can’t Bring Me Down came out in 1990. They were Crossover Thrash, Hardcore Punk meets Thrash Metal. By the late 80s they had a lot of Shred in there too, that's why it sounds so different.
We all have been waiting for this! This was Skate metal/thrash! This was some of the best!
@Brad & Lex Funny she noticed that. Pantera were huge Suicidal Tendencies fans. Phil emulated Mike. If you watched video footage it is so obvious. Yet Phil don't mind as he knows it is true. So now yous know where Pantera got a lot from... Now keep exploring more ST. Very vast styles through the years. Ballads mixed with aggression is their speciality. Most emotionally helpful band i ever heard (& i have heard a lot!)
Think yous would love I'll Hate You Better, Alone, One Too Many Times, Lost Again, I Want More, Lovely, Send Me Your Money, oh & the Heavy Emotional Acoustic version of How Will I Laugh Tomorrow... video is a must (the end❣) & well ALL💜 Take care~
7:04 They were banned from performing in L.A. They made this in response. BTW They were in actual gangs, "couch gang".
m&m sugar rush of power. I feel you, Lex. "You Can't Bring Me Down!"
ST! You should check out some classics like “Send me your money”, “Lovely”, “go skate” “Berzerk”, “War inside my head”
Seen these guys a bunch of times, followed them from the beginning. Punk rock was nearing its end when they hit the seen. Lots of great music and shows. Slam dancing, stage diving great times were had as a mid age teenager.
Lex is freaking rocking out! \oo/ heck yes! This song rocks! Such a great band. Lol
Thank you, this is one of my favorite bands
Band: The Pretenders
Song:Tattooed Love Boys
Yr: 1979
I had enjoyed metal for a while, but Suicidal was the first band I ever saw that "looked like me" doing the music that I loved.
Had the pleasure of doing a phone interview with Mike Muir back when I hosted a local metal shop show. I (half) jokingly asked him only one favor-to refrain from cursing since our little podunk station didn't have a delay. He laughed and said no problem. He then went on to do the best interview ever on the show. Thoughtful, articulate and brilliant.
That was EPIC!!!! They were great live!!!! WHOOT WHOOT 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
My first concert was to see these guys, way back in 1988
I've seen SUICIDAL TENDENCIES A COUPLE TIMES, This band is so much fun too see live! They open with this song! Mike Muir, lead singer, still has the same energy he has always had!!! Suicidal4life!
I use to work at tower records in marina del rey in 1991-92. Rocky George liked to go shop there. Great guy.
Cause I was born to be-ST!
And it'll always be-ST!
Don't get down on me-ST!
Cause I'm down OG-ST!
The sound track of my youth! ST ARMY!
Awesome reaction. Saw them 4x in 80s so gd live.
This was originally on one of their "crossover" albums from skater to thrash. There were several bands back in the day that did that, so the sound differences and tempos are noticibly different, but it's usually kinda cool to check out the whole "before and after" aspects when you find 'em.
There were a lot of people who weren't ready for music like this back in the 80s. I actually got kicked out of an ST concert at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland Or, just for moshing. This was the first concert like this that the Coliseum had ever had. Wehrmacht was the opening act but bouncers were forcing everyone to stay in their seats. Next came Exodus, we all rushed the stage and started moshing. Bouncers started chucking kids out the doors. They got me 2 songs into Exodus, never did get to see ST. The concert did go on but more than 100 of us got thrown out, there were choppers in the sky and cops on the doors and roofs by the end of the night... ah the good ol days.
