Anthrax doesn't get the respect they deserve. Their words are funny and make you think. Out of the big four they are the most "punk"
Amen!
Anthrax is not punk. Anthrax is the best metal band to come out of the 80’s. There is no Slipknot without Anthrax. Anthrax was also the granddaddies who first started mixing metal and rap.
Without Anthrax you’ve got no Limp Bizkit or Lincoln Park or any of the metal rap crossovers.
What I’m driving at here, is that Anthrax is the shit!!
AND WE REMAIN THE HARDEST EVER!!! NOT!!! NOT!!! NOT!!!
i been saying something similar for years. they are metal to the core, but they also have that fun punk vibe. the bermuda shorts, the not taking themselves too serious. great band
The "big 4" is bs. Anthrax *made* the New York Scene as it is today. AF, Cro-Mags, Sick of it All, Sheer Terror, they all owe to Anthrax.
"Your mother made a monster, now get the hell out of my house" - One of the best lines ever written.
LOL I always kinda liked, "Talking to you is like clapping with one hand"
"I drink 3 six packs just so I can look at your face" is a better one of theirs
It’s a great example of creative power, flipping a negative thing parents’d say & putting lines like that into a song so people can bond over it.
Were you dropped as a baby cause brains you lack is my favorite line😂😂😂
This genre is called THRASH. moshing is how we danced at thrash concerts.
To hear an anthrax song you would like do the anthrax public enemy Collab BRING THE NOISE.
It's also been called "Speed Metal"
There is really two types of thrash: west coast and east coast. West coast is more metal than punk and east coast is more punk than metal.
Danced? Past tense? Are you sure?
@@karlsmith2570 a.k.a Trash
Comparing moshing to dancing is like comparing a punch in the face to a handshake
Anthrax is pure energy and fun. If Brad looks for lyrics, check out "Indians" from them. Or "I am the law" . A song about Judge Dredd.
Indians is such a good song! And yeah the lyrics are way more interesting ^^
I might actually like anthrax more than metallica
Great songs!
I was going to mention that one too, as I am a big Judge Dredd fan (I still have the old Eagle Comics run) as well.
I also agree that Anthrax is better than Metallica. Don't get me wrong, the first four Metallica albums are pure gold, it's just my personal preference that tips it in favour of Anthrax.
Slayer #1, though!
The entire among the living album
Actually, this is a perfect representation of Anthrax, even though some of their best songs can also sound different.
This is from their best album, "Among The Living". It's one of the best thrash albums of all time.
Yep, this one song is exactly who classic Anthrax were as a band.
They are the diff sounding band of the big 4, only east coast representation, all the east coast bands have that raw sound, Overkill, Nuclear Assualt.
Absolutely. Not sure where she read that
Gotta check out Bring The Noise with them and Public Enemy.
oh crap you already suggested this, I'll leave mine up too.
YES!
Gotta start with I'm the Man then Bring the Noize. Both versions.
this!!!!
Yes!!!
Yes, even Keanu Reeves is an an Anthrax fan. Spotted at a Chicago show yrs. ago in the pit... nonetheless.
In town working on a movie.
"Corey Taylor must like Anthrax"
A distinct possibility, given everyone likes Anthrax.
Corey Taylor LOVES Anthrax. He is one of the interviewees in their 40th Anniversary DVD documentary released this past July. Definitely worth a watch on streaming....
I like Anthrax…….Not!
@@lantose na-not, na-not not!
Offical Anthrax fan here. The Album "Persistence of Time " is excellent. Gridlock, Intro to Reality, Belly of the Beast is a 3 song block i can honestly put up as their best work.
Finally. Nobody mentions this album, and it's really their only good album as far as I know, although State of Euphoria at least has good production and catchy tunes. But yeah, the bass tone of Belly of the Beast is the best I've heard. Great album!
Hail Bob.
@@meatloafninja2665 may we rejoice in his slack
Devil that you Know is a killer
@@justinatest9456 I disagree. Among the living, Spreading the disease and fistful of metal are their best albums in that order.
Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax were in a side band called S.O.D. A cool reaction would be to "March of the S.O.D/Sargent D.(mtv headbangers ball intro), Live at Budokan. It will give you a great visual of some of the craziness that goes on at metal concerts.
I have that CD in my truck at all times. One if my favorites. Brings back so many Memories
Oh yeah! The beginning of Budokan show is absolutely nuts with Billy Milano. I absolutely love it.
Is that Stormtroopers of Death, didn't realise they were some guys from Anthrax.
I cosign this with the only caveat that following March of the sod /Sgt d you immediately listen to suicidal tendencies “Join the Army”, and “Warn inside my Head” per my old mixtape for the Quadrifecta of Gen X Mosh/Skate dirty cool adrenaline……and drop into a sick pipe on your bones and shred!
Yeeesssss!!!
For a very different Anthrax, try "Only", and it's from John Bush's era, and it's my favorite song from them by far. cheers!
Far better song.
My favourite album from Anthrax was the one when they re-recorded all their classics with Bush, so much heavier. That's not me throwing shade on Joey either, just prefer Bush era Anthrax
Yes. Best album too
My Safe Home rules and I don't know why 😂
@@paulshaw9953 The Greater of Two Evils is a great album. Also check out the cover songs they recorded with John. Their take on Radiohead's The Bends is nothing short of amazing.
Y'all need to check out "Startin' Up A Posse", "Got The Time", Bring the Noise (w/Public Enemy), Refuse To Be Denied, Ball of Confusion, Only and Antisocial. Anthrax have always been my faves of the Big 4.
How could you miss "I Am The Law"?
may as well include some sod/mod start with milk
Among the Living album much better than anything you named here…
Context is super important for the Startin up a Posse song, it was directed at The PMRC back in he 90's when they were trying to censor music.
A lot of people don’t know that Antisocial is actually a cover. The original artist was the French band Trust.
The episode of Married With Children with Anthrax in it was a funny episode.
Agreed! But, ALL Married with Children episodes are funny. Watch reruns and that show is still hilarious and holds up to this day.
“Talking to you is like clapping with one hand”
Awesome line
Always cracks me up trying to imagine what it looks like :D
@@petertapola8097 Koan solved, excellent.
@@petertapola8097 I can actually clap with one hand.
@@chrisstorms7511 I've seen someone who can do that too. Although it is more like flapping your wrist to make a sound.
“Indians” is a good one from that same album.
I told you! together with Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica they are the BIG FOUR! You have to hear Im the man
I’m the Man 91’ though bypass other!
Also sort of forgetting Testament Big 5…….I’d add Metal Church for 6, I can think of 7 8 and 9 too
@@SargNickFury overkill and exodus for sure deserve to be up there
Must listen to Anthrax - "Keep it in the Family", "Indians", "H8 Red", "One Man Stands"
Among the living!
You guys should react to…
Anthrax & Public Enemy - Bring the Noise
🎸🤘
Seconded.
Also, I'm the Man.
The intro & opening bassline to this song is one of the most epic ever
Dan spitz the lead guitarist on this song is one of the only musicians to have a song written, that was played on Mars. It “woke up” the Mars rover. He’s also a VERY well accomplished watch maker that has earned a Swiss degree and whose watches are very desired among collectors.
I met him back in '85. He is so tiny. He is shorter than Dio was.
Anthrax! One of the Greatest of all time
Damn straight. After metallica, I always loved them over the remaining big four. Used to jam on my Anthrax cassettes til they busted :\
This is classic Anthrax with Joey Belladonna doing main vocals. I was big fan back then, but I became an even bigger fan when they brought in Jon Bush as the singer. Their music matured with heavier riffs, a deeper sound, and powerful lyrics. If you revisit the band to see how they progressed (and I hope you do), start with any track off "Sound of White Noise". Any track! (But if you need suggestions, check out "Only", "Room for One More", "Hi Pro Glo", or"This is Not an Exit".)
This is real Metal!!!!
Ironically, this is borderline punk.
@@FuckUA-camAndGoogle I have met the drummer, Charlie Benate! I stand by my comments
@@vinceedwards3978 You mean the guy who's in the least Metal big 4 Thrash band and a Crossover Thrash band (S.O.D)? Like I said, borderline Punk. Especially in regards to this song, honestly, one could make a strong argument that this song is more Punk than Metal.
Thrash is literally Metal infused with a punk garage distortion sound so………it’s just the ratio of mix that varies. Disagree? Would you mosh at a Punk Concert? Would you Mosh at a Thrash concert? The Mosh fits you must Acquit!
@@SargNickFury No shit, the ratio is literally what I'm talking about.
Try Anthrax - Among The Living it's based on The Stand by Stephen King 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Quintessential "Thrash Metal" band...there's just so much more better material in this band's catalog than what most people would consider as Anthrax's most popular. Definitely worth getting "out of the box" and exploring what they've got to offer. Absolutely deserving of being included in the "Big Four."
I'm glad you've finally done Anthrax and can't wait to see what you think of a few more. I suggest "Indians", " I am the law" or "Be all end all"
It sounds better when you're in an actual mosh pit, I remember those days!
Me too!! Spreading the disease tour... kicking off the night with 'A.I.R.' 🤘🤘👍
I missed this in your stream. give Indians, I am the law, Antisocial, I'm the man and Bring the noise with Public Enemy. I get a Kick out of the fact that Scott Ian the guitarist for anthrax is the son in law of Meatloaf.
The entire Among the Living album (where this song is from) is a banger and easily their best album. "Madhouse" or "A.I.R" would also be good choices.
"A.I.R." is probably my favorite Anthrax song.
I agree A.I.R is Anthrax at their best and pure thrash
Now you’ve done it. You opened a can of Anthrax, the beach boy rugratlings have so much to offer. I say you MUST MUST listen to “I’m the Man 91’” do not listen to simply I,m the Man….bypass that, listen to I’m the Man 91’” from their Attack of the Killer B’s album or something bad will happen somewhere. Then after that audio delight it is Required you listen to Tipper’s favorite Anthrax song, “Starting Up a Posse” uncensored, you’ve listened to me so far don’t stop now! Also I could tell you I am in the hospital and it would make my week….and that’s true. If pity makes this happen I will accept it. Then maybe listen to Antisocial because it’s what everyone else will expect.
The entire Among the Living album is great from Anthrax. This is just one song from that album. It's mostly popular because of the MOSH PART where it starts driving 2/3rds through the song though a number of songs on the album have cool "mosh parts". The inserts even label them "mosh part" when you read the lyrics.
Have a listen to TIME it's a cover by Anthrax and it's got BIG BALLS
Anthrax is sooooo awesome!!!!! This is thrash metal and I love them!!!! Cry for the Indians!!!!!
Anthrax in my all-time fav top 5 bands. love em. thanks for listening.
Anthrax did a cover of Joe Jacksons "Got the time"...both versions are awesome. Maybe a listen/comparison to both. 👍
Love it! Brings me back to high school!
Anthrax is an awesome band! I really hope you guys do more reactions to them. They have a huge catalogue! The Persistence Of Time album has hard and heavy bangers like “Time” & “Blood” along with “Discharge” & “In My World”. Their classic Among The Living album released back in 87’ has the classic hits Anthrax is known for like “Caught In A Mosh”, “Indians”. “I Am The Law”. Then in like 2004 they get a new singer and really switch up their sound. It was a cool era, different and produced some great albums like “Sounds Of White Noise” which had hits on it like “Only” (which James Hetfield of Metallica once stated as being the “perfect song”) “Room For one More”, “Black Lodge” and “This Is Not An Exit”. I can go on and on, great band, definitely go down the rabbit hole!
John Bush joined Anthrax in 1992, not 2004. Bush was on four Anthrax albums before leaving. There's some good stuff, but they are way different than the Belladonna era of Anthrax.
This song is just as relevant now as it ever was. Check out their songs Medusa, or Madhouse. Both from their second (and best imo) album Spreading The Disease.
Such a great band.
Lex I love you! You are so open to enjoying new and different types of music. KUDOS!
i heard Scott Ian (from Anthrax) say in an interview that this is the only song that they have played live every time since it was released
Only Anthrax could pull off the Public Enemy jam. Thank God for that jam
The most innovative of thrash: check out bring the noise, only, madhouse
You've gotta check out "Keep it in the Family" for a darker, even more intense Anthrax experience!
Yes indeed
Listen to those bass licks Charlie is putting out! You gotta listen to all the bits and pieces in these songs! Great band
This band always puts a smile on my face. They kick ass & have fun at same time..
Brought back memories of great concert in 1986. where Anthrax supported Metallica oh what a night !!
Got the time is my all time favorite! Anthrax is a great time and so energetic live.
Thank you for finally checking out Anthrax. Check out Keep it in the Family. It’s an anti-racism song.
How many years has it been since I’ve heard the song, and I remember all the words and the guitar solo?
Old school thrash really digs into your soul
\m/😖\m/
Anthrax has a unique sound & delivery that sets them apart in the thrash metal genre... Check out their songs:
'I am the law' ... 'A.I.R.' ... 'Keep it in the family' ... 'Antisocial' (Trust cover) ... 'Metal thrashing mad' 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘
They had a stint w/ John Bush on vocals... check out: 'Room for one more' ... 'Inside out' ... 'Nothing' ... 'Only'... "What doesn't die" 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘
Welcome to thrash as brought to you by the 80's...hehehehehehehehehe. I met these guys live in New Orleans, one of my all time favorite groups...ever.
Haha! Nice, i got the vinyl album, thx for your reactions again \m/
Oh man Brads eyes when the lyrics kick in😂. Great bass in the song!
Just saw these guys in Fresno Oct 6th. Sweet show. My buddy and I got picks. Fun times
YES! They are one of the 'Big 4',.. along with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. The 4 that started it all in the 80's (not in reality but they are celebrated as being the most popular the 80's,. introducing the most people to the genre). So yes Brad,... definitely old school. Each band having their own unique sound with Anthrax being the ones who took their sound more lightly (lyrical,. stage presence) and are considered to be born out of the New York hardcore/metal scene. Their songs are comical a lot of times and they are awesome! ALWAYS love me some ANTHRAX!
'I Am The Law' and 'A Skeleton in the Closet' are two more great Anthrax songs off this same album, which is excellent.
any Anthrax reaction needs Bring the Noise, with Public Enemy.
And now we demand more Anthrax. My favourite "big 4" band.
I think this was a great introduction song to ANTHRAX. They are clean, fun and intelligent. I'm excited to see more reactions from these guys. Also for sure corey taylor listened to anthrax.
I remember this was the first song I heard from Anthrax and I loved them since.
Seeing Anthrax today!! Super-pumped
Ah, the boys from Queens, NY...love them (being from Queens myself). They have a lot of great songs. As others have mentioned here are some: Madhouse, Armed and Dangerous, I'm the Man, Belly of the Beast, I Am the Law, Anti Social, Bring the Noise (with Public Enemy).
Anthrax is just plain awesome. One of the originals
Anthrax Keep It In The Family is a must.
This is original anthrax…the antisocial album they started to stray from this style, and their last great album persistence of time was a return to their roots with a mix of the antisocial album.. you might want to check out S.O.D. And M.O.D. as several members of anthrax were involved in those bands
Keep it in the Family is probably my favorite Anthrax song so that one would be cool to check out.
Check out Only with singer John Bush and In The End with Joey Belladonna who is also the singer on Caught in a Mosh. In The End are not typical Anthrax
Inside Out is a great banger from a different side of Anthrax with Dimebag lending some riffs. Also the music video is really cool in an Twilight Zone kind of way.
Brad you are hilarious when something is over the top!! You always say, What In The World are we listening to??? I laugh Everytime! And Lex is bouncing all over the couch!!!! Lol! You guys are great!
Germany 88' my roommate started a mosh pit!!!! About 600 people, AWESOME!!! Great Job Tim Fox!!!!
Check Indians from the Chile on fire gig by anthrax pure class
Talking to you is like clapping with one hand.... 😅 So true to often
Saw these guys a couple of years ago, opening for Slayer. They always brought the energy.
you have to understand what a different time this was... and the bass sound.. damn.... this was pure fun thrash, Anthrax was always the most fun band but had some amazing tunes (and also serious ones) but they never took themselves too seriously... Lex is loving it, she really is a like a reincarnated old school metal head or something... this does hold up all these years later though, it is so hard to explain what this was like when it came out... like a damn bomb, this and Exodus "Toxic Waltz" are the 2 fun thrash anthems we all loved... totally captured the vibe and verve of the time... if you haven't done Toxic Waltz please do so... or anything off Fabulous Disaster ... a true thrash masterpiece... and the comments about the styling... they were soooo into Rap it makes sense that the cadence was there...
🔥Bring The Noise! 🔥
Anthrax sparked off Nu Metal along with Faith No More
Other classics; Medusa, Got The Time etc...
🤘❤🇨🇦
In Wolverhampton, UK, close to where I live, there are two music venues next to each other. The band, UFO, were playing in the larger venue, The Civic, and we were at the Anthrax gig in the smaller venue, The Wulfrun. Anthrax were so loud that my chest was actually vibrating. At one point, the vocalist said... "Ha, UFO are playing next door but their audience won't be able to hear them because we're so fucking loud".
Lex is pure amazing ❤️
...she gets it every single time.
Anthrax is one of the best Thrash bands, big four. Great song from their best album.
Anthrax is my favorite Big 4 band, Their album Persistence of time was my High School soundtrack. Check out Got the Time, H8 Red, Only, I Am The Law, In My World.
Anthrax is rarely a metal fans favorite band, but out of the big thrash bands,. they were the ones who held out the longest in that intersection between punk and heavy metal that thrash was "supposed to be" And always did everything with a bit of a sarcastic grin, even when the rest of the bands starting taking themselves way too seriously.
Absolutely Lex! You are right on. He can actually sing!
Oooh, please check out Anthrax and Public Enemy "Bring the Noise"... It's one of the best rap/rock collabs out there ;)
One of the big 4 bands!!!! My youth still love it
My freshman year in HS. Moshing through the halls of the school with about a dozen others. Great times to be alive.
Anthrax is my favourite of the big 4 🤘
So much energy live. May I suggest you check out 'in my world' , 'fight em till you can't', 'breathing lightning' & 'madhouse'
Antisocial is one of my faves off this album. Might want to check that out.
My favorite Anthrax song is and always will be Metal Thrashing Mad, that shit gets you so pumped up
Dude, THAT is WHAT METAL is....
& those lyric's, "Talking to you is like clapping with one hand...", the statement they, collectively, make is relatable, & the music fit's the feeling of being "caught in a mosh", figuratively, as well as literally, you can't say you have never felt that way before.
Also, you know this very song is the reason we all know the word "mosh", prior to the albums release it was primarily an east cost term, some credit also goes to the band S.O.D., which is, essentially, Anthrax with a dude named "Billy Milano" on vocals doing early NYHC style music, but it is this song that brought the term into the national mainstream. 🤘
Look at when they released this song, it is old school, early 80’s in your face TRUTH.
these were the days when you went to see a band, had a great time, came home bloody and stoked.
The song that got me into Anthrax. Still my favorite tune by them🤘🤘
This whole album is awesome. Among the Living
My favorite song from my favorite band of 32 years! Anthrax was heavily influenced by old school Hip Hop & Rap. They even collabed on "Bring the Noise" with Public Enemy for an insane crossover hit! Side note....Corey Taylor from Slipknot decades later was heavily influenced by Anthrax.....
Some of the first tapes I bought. They had a message about society you didn't hear before. Some songs are really deep.
Check out anti-social, got the time, or some of their newer stuff. This song goes all the way back. Understand thrash metal was just at an infant stage during this time period. Bands like this never got radio play.
Brooklyns in da house!!! Anthrax!!! Brooklyn boys!!! Madhouse is the song that made them blow up!
'Bring the Noise', Anthrax with Public Enemy. Kickin'!!
There’s plenty to discover with Anthrax, Check out , “I’m the Man”, uncensored version. The first rap/thrash metal crossover song.
For Anthrax you gotta listen to I am the Law, I'm the Man, Fueled, Hy Pro Glo, The devil you know, got the time. Just to name a few.
