Nick is an absolute legend
800lbs for 27 years is pretty legendary.
He’s a genuine gentleman too
There's nothing more you can say about this. It's mythical.
Bro his deadlift-foot-placement is so strange, but the man just kills it. Def a legend.
He said in the video his first time was 1996, so doing it in 2023 actually makes it 28 years, which is even more impressive!
(Probably forgot to include the year 2000 in his quick mental maths)
The control Nick had on that 800Lb squat was next level. Im never getting under 800lbs, but the sheer fact we are both in our 50's gives me some drive to train harder.
I bet that control is a big reason why he's still able to do it and hasn't injured himself out of the game.
@@arthuradjamoglian2418 Big part of it I'm sure. Bouncing out of the hole probably isn't favorable at our age.
Half squat
Nick Best is an absolute legend and a solid, respectable inspiration for maintaining strength and vitality as you age.
100%
The eccentric on the 800 lb rep from Nick was insane! Legend Sir!
Good to see Nick still going super strong💪💪💪
Nicks a legend!
27 years!!! in a row squating 800 lbs. thats fucking nuts
Right!
Reminds me of Nick Willis being able to go under 4 minutes in the mile for 20 years in a row. Actually insane how much longevity some athletes have, and Nick Best has always been one to surprise me what he can do at his age.
I'm 41 started working out at 14. Your body gets accustomed to whatever it's doing, sitting on a couch or training, Never stop and give age a chance to catch up, I can still do what I did in my 20's because I just have never let up. I can still work manual labor and train a couple hours in the same day, or do 5k trails and train couple hours, just never stop. Keep on keeping on Mr. Best
Very well done. Old is only a behaviour.
I'm 47 years old and didn't start lifting until I was 42. Still making gains and outlifting guys half my age.
True mate, I've heard some gamers aged 30 say they have bad knees, wish everyone knew motion is lotion.
This was a sick video. Motivating as hell. I just turned 35, 14 months no alcohol, been back in the gym for 8 months now, and I’m aging backwards.
Might be 27 years before I squat 800, if ever. Good on Nick for crushing it with such consistency!
Nicks one of the best strongman to ever do it and a great guy in general, WSM 2023 he was one of the only people to come out and talk to the fans, chat about whatever, really treated everyone like a friend he knew, and took pictures with everyone who asked. To be squatting 800 at 54 is absolutely insane most 54 year olds I know are out of breath from walking up stairs.
He really was out there all time time with the fans, I got to talk to him a bit this year and he's a nice guy
Same I got a picture with him
this was great especially with having nick best on.... best of luck between you and shaw in the august classic, i'm a powerlifter and a big fan of the sport of strongman, no matter what happens you guys both are at your peaks (awesome to see nick still hitting 800lb's getting up their in the age bracket, your 100% on ppl making to many excuses)
Nick is awesome
Great collaboration. I always trip out on how crazy narrow Nick's feet are in a deadlift. Find what works for you, indeed.
Nick best is a absolute legendary unit, I know some friends who personally trained with him and even had him as their coach/spotter and they El an confirm that he among the other strongmen are legends
Nick Best is a total legend. Great to see you hang with him.
Great guy!
Always thumbs up for Nick, absolute legend.
Nick is a beast.
It is so nice to see this humble man with you great guys without unnecessarily humiliating Nick.
7:05 “ try a bunch of sh$t until something sticks “
Man, I love Nick! He's such a great man! So extremely strong still, too! A genuine guy. Not a passionless influencer like we see so many young people being today, who just want the clout and money and will cheat and scheme in whatever way to get there, treating it like a video game.
Love Nick! Was always impressed watching him keep up with Brian amd Eddie when they were hangung out.
500lbs "medium weight" nick constantly amazes me with how strong he is. The guy is a legend
Nick Best and Mark Felix are living proof that old is just a mindset
They are the exceptions not the norm. But yes.
@@Ptitnain2They made themselves the exception.
It really annoys me when I see people run their mouth about Nick Best and i feel nick sometimes doesn't get the respect he deserves off the younger lifters, I know most of the time it's probably just banter but honestly guys be HUMBLE nick is a legend.
Two of the most humble guys in the sport and both crazy strong
You two are the best strongman collab I've seen in a long time. This was so fun to watch!
Nick, you are an inspiration, sir! I'm 44 and still trying to find my best. Mitch, you seem like a genuinely good person. Can't wait to see you at the Shaw! God bless!
I'm glad to see your channel is blowing up! Putting out solid content, my friend!
Great video. Nick is an absolute legend and its great to see him on your channel
If you're intimidated by wireless hole punchers, just isolate the uncomfortable part by sticking with smaller calibers, single shots, no transitions or excess movement, while keeping the 4 safety rules in mind. I also add in a 5th rule - if it ever leaves my hand for any reason, I do at least a press check and often even check the barrel, chamber and source of feed as well just to confirm whether it's loaded. Then make it fun. Reactive targets if the range allows it are always the best way to make it enjoyable - things that move like a Hostage Target, Texas Star, Dueling Tree, etc. Coke cans with a small caliber are especially fun. Once you've drilled in instinctive safety checks you'll become much more comfortable knowing it always takes more than 1 safety rule violation at once for anyone to get hurt.
Great video Mitch, Nick Best is an absolute legend. True inspiration for all, and genuinely nice guy. Good luck at the Shaw!
Nick Best - This man is just amazing! Big respect from Austria
Nick is such a great dude. Thanks for featuring him.
the 17x500 lbs deadlift... is insane!@#@!
nick is really something else
That was really inspirational and fun to watch. I was shouting; "go on Nick" with the deadlifts when he was getting to near the end :-)
Great video! When is the white LHBT shirt out? I have the grey but white looks good
I really love what Mich is doing for the sport and the way he is approching things ! This video with Best is the perfect match between the strongman history and the future of the sport !
The 500 for reps by Nick was so awesome to see. The music kicking in, awesome video.
Great content mitch!
Love Nick. That was super cool, thx moose!
These guys are pushing almost 700 like it's easy and I'm just trying to get past 500 by the end of the year; sitting at 405 for reps right now.
Currently sitting at 207lbs and want to keep around that weight even if I do body recomp.
Edit:
I didn't start doing well on deadlift until I started lifting in shoes that had a little bit of heel lift to them. I've always trained in 0 rise shoes and have done very well but now that I lift right after work in my work clothes and shoes, getting down to the bar is way easier. I'll have to do some research into what's out there for lifting shoes with a slight heel lift and see if that gets me where I want to be on squats easier than the 2 years of lifting that it took to get me to the 500s for final set reps in my early 20s.
Great video, i've been lifting for 4 years, i have spinal arthritis, neck partly fused, no excuses, adapt for everything and you can do it. I am also 50yrs old. I dont lift heavy, but lifting makes the body feel good and keeps the pain at bay, sometimes!!!
Mitchell just pulled my Deadlift 1RM, beltless for 17 reps. Feels bad LOL
That's a fantastic 1RM. Respect. 👊
Don’t compare you to me, I don’t compare me to you. Keep working hard brother
Awesome Nick, absolutely one of my favorite strongman
Epic music and feat of strenght from Nick at 5:00
💪💪💪
This collab is GREAT
Gotta throw out a huge high 5, on the use of "no problamo" man, love it!! Keep up the great content, p.s. got some of your t shirts they are
awesome.
Love Nick. Such a humble, genuine dude and incredibly gifted
Nick! Inspiring “senior” gents like myself to plug away at it!
Nick is a legend!
Nick, the sweet giant! Did you film the food part? Thats always entertaining
That awsome! Your the BEST!
Watching videos like this makes me feel proud because I’m a small but a part in this fucking community
Nick used to train at the 24 hour fitness by my house in Vegas. I was squatting 315 next to him and he had loaded up some obscene amount of weight on the bar, IIRC 650+ and joked with me about my warmup weight. I was only 155 lbs dammit! :D
Awesome to see him still in there killin it! I'm 48 now and still lifting and doing sports as well. Keep training that dad strength gents!
This was great!
Good to see he's getting more mobility back for squats and deadlifts. He must have been injured the last year. Wow right back in the saddle with an 800 lb squat.
Nick being able to maintain that level of strength for 27 years is mind boggling. What a legend!
The longevity and keeping that level of strength is insane to me
What a legend, keep doing what you do Nick.
watching at work had to drop a comment for mitch nick and algorithm-sama
omg that ending was so wholsome I love it
I'm 53, and Nick is my spirit animal!!
Fuck yea nick, you just made me smile
Inspiration 🙏🏻
Wow. That was incredible.
Incredible! I wonder what supplements and meds Nick used over the years 🤔
Love Nick Best. Such a nice guy
Nick makes for quality content. A legend in the sport, that is still a top level lifter. Ill never be that strong, but it makes me go to the gym.
"That was pretty deep too" Mitch being nice. It was barely parallel, but still heavy AF.
11:25 extremely high praise especially knowing how much Nick loves Brian
Nick is a legend, such a kind humble beast!
What a fucking legend.
Well done Nick. Your Awesome
Love the videos! Nick Best is such a likeable guy.
The super collabs I'm waiting for:
Magnus Midtbo
Jujimufu
Mark Bell
fingers crossed
2/3 lined up 👍👍🫡
Nick Best is truly one of the best there is . His longevity is just unparalleled
Nick is an absolute LEGEND!!
He makes going down look way harder than going up.
Incredible to watch.
Love the attitude. Train until you don’t want anymore and that’s never gonna happen!
Jesus!! 27 years doing that weight. Nick is a legend 🙌
That’s suuuper impressive!!!
And to think Ronnie Coleman was double the size squatting 800. Just amazing how the body responds to specific style training amazing athletes all round
These video are amazing, just make em longer please
The decent on that 800lb squat was insane
The strength in this video is ridiculous. Nick squatting over 800 for that many years, let alone over 800 in general.. Mitch deadlfiting 605 for 17 beltless is wild. Unpeaked, "random" kinda day.
nick beast - what a motivations he is !
Top level !!!!
I like Nick. Seems a real good man.
Mitchell Hooper = Legend in the making
How can you not like Nick Best
Nick Best is a genetic anomaly. At 55 most strength athletes have destroyed their joints but here he is still lifting weights that 99.9% of mankind can't move.
I want to see a "Nick Best Tries Yoga" video... 🤣
Love nick!
But I really like mitchell!! So good to see a strongman who is not HUGE... (Big, absolutely, but not HUGE).
The amount of oxygen needed to do 275 kg deadlift for 17 reps. Insane!
I remember doing 30 reps on 100 kg squat back in the days. I was just GASPING for air for 10 minutes. The closest I've been to dead, I think...
Nick is still a beast 👍👊💪
Certainly one of the Best to ever do it
What a mad lad
800-solid-ass-pounds!
OMG!!!!!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME
Absolutely insane.
I'm always amazed by how slow and control Nick squat.
"it's over when you don't want to do it any more" yep I'm keeping that.
👍👍👍
Nick is an example the mind is stronger than the body . Also when I see Nick deadlift I look at it and say how is he doing that .
Jeez Nick’s 800 had some speed.
