I really want DQ9 to make it off the DS, mostly so I can play it online again with people 😂. That was peak gaming. I was in college i would walk around town with my DS and come home with 50+ street passes. And sometimes play it at a coffee shop and people would ask what you are playing and play multiplayer with you. Not just DQ but whatever was the big new release the past few months. Nintendo brought people together… I really really hope the era of handhelds is not over.. Switch is cool and all but I want a handheld with battery that can fit in your pocket like GBA-3DS… I’m sad that it may be over
The Golden Sun series definelty needs its time to shine again, such a great series that ended at the worst possible moment. The orignal 7th dragon game is one i recommend people try but it does have a bit of a learning curve and the difficulty can be high at some points but its worth it
In Lunar Nights, you could put one of the Boktai games into the GBA slot on the DS or DS lite and use it as a solar sensor. It also unlocks tracks on the in-game music player. Using the Boktai game as a solar sensor really drained the system battery though
Lunar Knights takes me back. I had an R4 and was looking for games to play and stumbled across Lunar Knights. Had alot of fun playing the game. Nice to see it again
I actually believe portrait of ruin is better than the Aria games except for portraits quest system. The levels were more varied and the combat was a lot more fun with both characters useable especially since the girls magic had a lot of souls type abilities anyways
I'm glad there are good games "stuck" on specific platforms, that makes it worthy going back to those consoles/handhelds and finding something new and/or interesting to play, I've been picking up games from your lists, currently playing Magical Starsign and lovin' it.
I will always mention Avalon Code and Magical Starsign when anyone mentions the DS. There are quite a few great games for the DS, it's got such a massive library of games people never got to play lol
Sands of Destruction! Nice RPG with a solid cast, some off the beaten path mechanics that work well, a damn good story and nice presentation. Only negatives I can think off are that some dungeons are really complicated and might be impossible without a guide for some and the early game being harder than a lot of RPGs. Nevertheless one of the highest quality to obscurity ratios I know of when it comes to video games. :D
My favorite DS game will always be fossil fighters. I had an obsession with dinosaurs when it came out. the game mechanics were unique as well as the art style and simple to figure out. Sadly, none of the 3 games sold more than 2 million copies world wide and the 3rd game practically killed the franchise. Which is heartbreaking because if the graphics was updated for the switch, it could've had great potential.
