Just a quick correction and clarification, due to a reported patent infringement issue, the BM13-1975A utilized in newer Baumatic-equipped models lacks the silicon escapement components offered by this caliber’s predecessor, the BM12-1975A. Beyond that difference, the specifications are identical. We apologize for any confusion!
That is a deal breaker for me if the movement now is not as anti magnetic.
It also still has the antimagnetic escapement and is cased in an antimagnetic surround. Other corrections you might consider: 10.66mm thick not 10.9, has a minute track *under* the sapphire, 5th iteration since 1973, and not linear brushing on the baseplate (either snailing or bead blasting).
Bought the black one on a strap with ceramic bezel. The finish on the bracelet option was not mine. It is definitely the best sport watch option with a manufacture movement in this price range ❤
@@dm-vw4tk understand. B&M claims that the BM13 movement is actually on par with BM12 in terms of anti magnetic performance. The escapement is not silicon, other components are still silicon plus they added a chrome ring to protect against magnetism. I own the watch with the BM13, but of course I have no way to check if those claims are true or not ☺️
the chrono one has day-date and its stunning in blue with blue rubber strap, only thing that sucks is that i have a 15cm wrist and you have to cut the rubber strap to fit it...
I bought this watch last week and absolutely love it. It looks amazing on my wrist and the blue dial is just stunning. Great watch!
My grandma wore a Baume & Mercier back in the day. My mom inherited when she passed away 2020. It was in rough shape but she sent it off to Switzerland to be restored and she wears it all the time now. The brand is on my list to eventually enter my collection. I think it would be cool to honor my grandmother a little bit
Good man, it’s a very good brand.
Teddy! I have owned my B&M Riveria for three months. I absolutely love this watch! The transparent dial is a conversation starter! The movement is amazing! Everytime I take off the watch I am pleasantly surprised 4 days later and it’s still ticking!
I like this, thanks for calling it out, Teddy. A great comparator/competitor for this would be the Oris Pro Pilot X, in terms of movement, price, style, etc. The Oris caliber 400 goes head to head with the Baumatic on power reserve and anti-magneticism, *and* it has 10 year warranty.
A hidden secret? Questioning this while we talk here about a watch with an interesting movement.
In daily life, i wear a Baume & Mercier with a BM14-1975AC2 movement. Because it gives me the comfort of never be worried the power reserve run out, i deleted many watches on my wishlist that goes only to 70 hours. 120 hours is just a sweet spot that spoiled me.
I had for a while a more expensive watch on my wishlist, but i can not ignore that amazing Riviera. 120 hours! And my Baume & Mercier with the BM14-1975AC2 movement is running accurate enough to be very happy with.
Unbeatable.
As usual great review. I got this watch back in April and it wears very comfortable, also added a rubber strap. That makes it the perfect watch to go on vacation and change the look from sporty on the beach to more elegant at the evening in the restaurant. One remark, in video it is mentioned that there is a lack of half links, that's not correct. I have one and in the video you can see the smaller link, just on the left side of the clasp.
Have the Baume & Mercier Riviera on my list of future procurements 👍 Currently, I'm wearing a beautiful Baume & Mercier Classima
Most underrated Brand!
Great advertisement for Baume.
They will be loving you if the hype converts to sales.
Nice looking watch, great video!
recently bought a riviera 10617 and i‘m blown away by this watch. great quality, stunning in-house movement and beautiful design for an unbeatable price!
The shape of the Riviera is I believe much more dynamic than the Royal Oak or the Nautilus. It’s been subtly modernised over the years, and the price on the second hand market is rising rapidly!
Wow, never heard of this! Looks great
Love the 10617, all black on rubber
The video is brilliant - your team makes watches look fabulous . . .
When I look at images of this watch on other UK sales channels - it looses much of its photogenic appeal 🙂
Wonderful looking watch! Maybe it´s a good alternative to a expensive AP watch
I actually prefer the dials on the Riviera without their Baumatic movement, and they are a decent bit less. The Baumatic is an amazing movement though, especially for the money. Regardless of the Riviera someone chooses it is extremely versatile, and in my opinion is the best integrated bracelet sports watches under 5k. Especially when you consider the case thickness. I bought the black dial last year and have really enjoyed it.
Agreed. I much prefer the dials on the non Baumatic versions. I wish they could put the Baumatic in the royal blue or green dialed versions. Love the rubber straps too
@Robert Fassberg the rubber straps are great, especially in the warm weather. The green and blue dials look great. The white dial does as well. Really can't go wrong in my opinion.
This is a brand that is now in my sights.
I do like this watch. It would be great if B&M produced a version in 38-39mm.
They do now. 39mm, same movement.
And now he wants it only in 40.5mm
Thank you for this video, i asked for it and there you go! Watching it right now 👌🏽🍻.
Really beginning to love this brand......great influence Teddy.....
Hi !please review the Titoni Impetus watch which is also an integrated bracelet watch with Genta's 1970s vibe..
Teddy, when you say 'best in class', do you mean better then the Tudor's MT's movement's? B&M are making some very very nice watches!
Hello Teddy..., Congratulations on your excellent channel, and my best wishes to you always. Please... a question: what size is better for me, with this B&M Riviera watch... the 39 or 42mm, because I have 18 cm, or 7 inch wrist. Thank you for your time. God bless you.
The symbol “Phi” refers to equilibrium: the perfect watch for economists.❤
Love the watch what’s your opinion on a pre owned I can get a good deal on one
I usually pay no attention to B&M watches, not sure if due to poor marketing etc… But this review is an epiphany for me. Teddy has totally blown my socks off here with perhaps one of the most ‘matter of fact reviews that I’ve seen on any watch. I might need to see another watch channels review of this watch just so that I heard right and corroborates the information Teddy just mentioned on this watch. The Riviera is an astonishingly beautiful watch of very high quality. That incredible 5 day power reserve movement in that price segment it’s unheard of. A genuine 1970s sport’s integrated bracelet design released at almost the same time as Gerald Gentas Royal Oak? At 10% of retail price GTFOH 😂Is this the bargain of the century or have I misunderstood and have delusional illness?
Edit: Begs the question did Chopards very recent and now ridiculously expensive smash hit - the much celebrated Alpine Eagle take design cues from the Riviera? The similarities are too many to go unnoticed.
Why is the "VI" upside down?? I could see it if there were other numbers on the dial, or if it was a radial dial. Also, the bracelet should have a stronger taper w/some type of micro-adjustment or half-links. In general, the watch looks good but needs to be sized down a tad. The L2L is excessive. B&M seem to be making progress though. We'll see if they're capable of taking customer feedback or not.
same movement used in the new IWC irgeneur.
Hi Teddy I'm trying to decide between the Riviera 10616 or the Riviera 10701. I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
Reminds me of the Chopard Alpine Eagle.
Hi Teddy can u make a review about the Sternglas Hamburg 42mm i would like to know if it is something worth buying
I love this watch but I think it's just a little bit too big. For me a 39/40mm version would be the perfect fit.
Excelente video Teddy. 👏👏🤩🤩⌚️⌚️
No mention of those blobs on the dial near the 2 and 8 o clock. What are they?
Is there any chance for you to review the D1 Milano Automatico?
The wife was interested in this one, but I think it's - perhaps shockingly - simply too expensive at this point it time. She wanted the white 33mm version with four diamonds that came out in 2022. It would cost her 50% more than the cheapest new 42mm version on Chrono24! For 25% LESS she could get a similar sized diamond decorated quartz NOS Omega Constellation (albeit on a rubber strap) and that's what I told her to get.
#427👍👏great bracelet! A see through blue dial in sapphire is unique too. Excellent 4hz and power reserve.
Hi teddy like to ask is this cosc certified the in house baumatix
i cant unsee that upside down 6 hour marker
Isn't this the same movement that IWC is using for IWC Pilot Mark XX?
Yes, same movement
I’m between this B+M the M+L Aikon and the Tudor royal .. any suggestions
Definitely try them all on at a dealer if you already haven't.
What are the two black dots in the dial ??
Hey Teddy. You are making the same mistake of the previous Clifton video. Again, the Baumatic 13 movement does NOT feature a silicon balance spring. It’s still an anti magnetic movement, but the silicon balance spring has been removed due to patent issues. You can find multiple sources online confirming the news.
Did Omega sue them?
@@almac9203 I’m not sure what exactly happened. Seems like the Swatch group is involved and filed the patent infringement. The outcome was the new movement BM13, not sure if B&M actually got sued or not. Haven’t found any information source detailing the full story.
The issue of whether it has a screw down crown, or not, was not addressed in the video. Any guidance appreciated!
It does not have the screw-down crown and this is the reason, I do not swim while wearing this watch
It really really really bothers me that the 6 hour is upside down.
What are these dots on the dial between 2 and 3 and between 8 and 9?
I was wondering the same thing.
I am guessing, but I think those must be some kind of mount to attach the dial to the movement. As the dial is transparent, you can see where the mounts join the dial. It's a pity as it couldn't have been too hard to just have the centre of the dial transparent so you couldn't see the circles. But as I say, just a guess.
@@Shpeil It was also my first thougt. But these dots are not under the surface of the dial. There are actually two drilled holes in the dial and stuffed with something like a plastic pin.
It still could be used to stabilize the dial.
But it is kind of triggering me.
I would be disappointed if Baume & Mercier wouldn't have a reasonable answer. I also wonder how Teddy could ignored it. Maybe he also didn't get an answer. But in that case this wouldn't be acceptable for such a price.
Teddy, you should showcase the 10617 edition as well (a personal fave...as I own one), as the black on black with sport band gives this piece a completely different look than the 10616!
This is what i own and i love it! Thinking about this 10616
42mm with an integrated bracelet wears absolutely gigantic: Steel as far as the eye can see, like a shackle around your wrist. Given how large these wear, this style of watch would look better in a much smaller size (think Vacheron 222), even for larger wristed people. There’s no reason for a time only watch with an integrated bracelet to be this big.
I'm waiting for the upcoming 45mm version.
I hear you in most cases, but not this one. The watch is very thin and the bracelet hangs straight down. My son has a very small wrist he wears 36mm watches typically, but the 42mm Riviera sits nicely on his wrist and the bracelet doesn't flair out at all. I would say because there are no lugs, the bracelet hangs straight down and the watch is only 10.7mm thick it wears more like a 38 or 40mm watch. I would recommend trying one on before writing it off. They have a 36mm option as well.
@@michaelfierman3256 I'm waiting for the 50mm version just like Rolex did today with their release. ;-)
I mean u have a reference in the video and I was actually surprised how well it looks on a 16.5cm wrist. Numbers are not everything.
I'm guessing you're wearing very undersized fliegers. This watch is not big and doesn't wear like a 42mm to be honest. I have a 7.5"+ and it rides like my 38s and 40s.
Love it but just too big. Needs to me 40mm
For about the same price, this watch or the Nomos club neumatik, hmmm🤔
You mention a quick release for the bracelet, but are there straps available for this watch?
They sell about 5 variations of rubber straps for it. Even the ones from the newer series are interchangeable with them. The system is the same as Vacheron Constantin's quick change and IWCs. 🤔
How much sir
They do have half links
Loved the titanium one but on a rubber strap... Why !! so I asked for an additional steel one but at 600 notes UK, You're pushing Tudor territory so that's what I Bought. Also... 2.4k for a sellita ??
Surprised no mention of the fact the riviera was designed by Gerald Genta, the same designer as the Nautilus and Royal Oak, hence the similarities.
It’s not. It was designed by Jean-Claude Gueit. He also worked for Patek, AP, vacheron etc.
@@HansRutenbrecher whoa yeah you’re right, there are several articles out there saying otherwise, lots of misinformation out there! Thanks for the correction!
the "VI" should not be upside down.
Big shoutout to John, soc med manager of Teddy for considering this watch review. Thank you!
Looks like royal oak
Not a free-sprung balance
It is not free sprong !!!
I just can't stand the hex bolt shape.
Love this watch, but for some reason it feels like a sin. I guess it's years of perceived value, or lack thereof, that haunt B&M.
A couple of years ago they were giving these away for a few hundred dollars. I believe they were on the shopping network at one stage. The previous distributor did a poor job I what heard.
I have no doubt the movement is good, but the design is hideous
As mentioned, it's underrated for a good reason
B&M brand is dying soon
Buy if you like the design & dont mind losing 60% of its value the moment you walk out the shop with this
That was the feeling last year. Are they turning it around?
So why did you watch this video then?
poor man’s oak?
Would love a titanium version
no thanks, plenty other choices at 4k range
It's 3k actually
@@jeremyj189 it's literally 3.7k with 8% sales tax comes out to 3996, thanks for your worthless stupid fucking comment tho
@@jeremyj189 do you get the in house movement for $3k?
@@almac9203 sure!
What would u recommend
