Melanie - "I wrote this song called 'Cry Baby' because some people say that I'm too emotional when I sing. I'm sensitive to crisis in the world like sex trafficking, child cancer, etc. And, I can't hide my feelings and tend to cry to much. This song is my response, I guess my heart is too big for my body."
Highly recommend listening to "Sippy cup" next, it's chronologicaly next after "Dollhouse" and you'll finally see 'what goes down in the kitchen'
Side note, if you'll keep reacting to Melanie's discography, keep in mind she's not scared to take serious topics in her songs (prime example will be "Teachers pet" from K-12 album)
Or maybe Strawberry shortcake, that's also a very good song for them to react
@@michelletirado5940 Yup, it is good, one of my favourites of K-12, though wouldn't it be better to react chronologically? It'll make more sense due to the storyline
Dawg Teachers Pet is fucked up haha
Orange Juice really helped me with my ED, I def think they should check it out too!
tag youre it!
Sippy cup is definitely another song that you guys should check out! ❤
Next for sure!!!Then Alphabet Boy?
I recommend them to try Sippy Cup and Crybaby! Idk if they saw my comment I’m just so happy to see them reacting to Melanie
YESSS sippy cup is my favorite!!
YESS
absolutely
I can’t wait for them to react to “tag, you’re it” and “milk and cookies” they HAVE to watch it back to back!!! So good
Yesssss
I was just thinking this!!
The order is
1-crybaby
2-k-12
3-portals
yes pplz react in order!!! :)
That's the order
Might clarify that this is the order of her albums. But each album has a chronological story in song form as well....
Please carry on with these reactions and highly recommend watching them in order!!
She also has the After School EP that came after K-12
Fun fact, Melanie directs these music videos herself. She writes the lyrics, plans the video, helps sketch and make the costumes, and more. She takes complete creative control and it shows.
Her songs are all connected to her character named Crybaby, I advise you guys to follow the songs by order so you guys can understand the storyline of her character into her recent album about the reincarnation of this same character, is a trilogy album! Crybaby, k-12(also has an amazing movie) and portals! whoever you can listen to them without the storyline because they have their own meaning, but yeah, the storytelling is amazing, and it pulls everything together, and you guys can understand all her visuals as well😂❤ there's also a few eps and albums that aren't connected to her character with amazing lyrics and visuals
This song hits me so hard as an overly emotional person. There have been times that I've been upset and nobody around me has understood any, but of course when I'm upset it's hard to explain how I'm feeling and why. It's so relatable to people like me and that's why I fell in love with her music.

I hope they see this comment, thank you for waiting out everything for them!!!! They need to do all her songs in orderrrr
don’t forget gingerbread man 😊
@@vixen1600 I've only ever seen Gingerbread Man listed as a single unfortunately and not a deluxe track, even though it definitely would be in crybaby I'm not really sure if it counts tbh. Same with Piggyback and Fire Drill. I love your profile pic btw.
Melanies albums follow the character crybaby through her life. Crybaby is her baby and toddler years, K-12 is crybabys school years, and Portals is after crybaby died.

Portals has an order except for the 3 songs in deluxe version as all songs transition into each other
And you’re missing dollhouse ep as well as
Sippy Cup would be next in sequential order.
The rabbit imagery frequently shows up in her videos. Melanie's first pet ever was a bunny she named Whinnie. Eventually, they got a dog and her parents told her they couldn't have both. So she gave her bunny to a friend of a friend who had a bunny already thinking they could be friends. Unfortunately, this person left the bunnies outside unattended for 4 hours and Melanie's bunny was found deceased. She even got a tattoo on her right forearm commemorating Whinnie.
Really good songs from her are "alphabet boy" " training wheels" and "mad hatter"
Training Wheels is sooo good 👏
If you do continue this Melanie Martinez marathon, I really recommend Sippy Cup next, as it is the next song of the album!
Im loving all the Melanie reactions! Sippy Cup is my favorite ❤
While growing up, people around her once labeled Melanie a "cry baby," a person who gets upset or emotional at the simplest things. The song is about people, including herself, who are extremely sensitive and tend to be triggered or who get upset easily, consequently ending in tears. The song draws the inspiration for the Cry Baby character, a fictional, child-like version of Melanie herself. Cry Baby struggles through a journey of self-acceptance, but through this song and many others, her journey of growth begins. Cry Baby is a character whom Melanie described as "a child who experiences adult things". However, there are some things in Cry Baby’s story that Melanie did not experience herself.
"I wrote this song called "Cry Baby" because some people say that I'm too emotional when I sing, I'm sensitive to crisis in the world like sex trafficking, child cancer, etc. And, I can't hide my feelings and tend to cry too much. This song is my response, I guess my heart is too big for my body."
Excited for you guys to continue listening to Melanie and i hope you also listen to more of Poppy cause her music made a huge Turn for the best
Yeah Cry Baby is the character through out her first 2 albums. She kind of tells a story through the albums of the character Cry Baby. I think you guys would enjoy Mad Hatter, Sippy Cup, Alphabet boy, Cake, Carosel, Soap. I’ll send a list of what goes in order.
Do her songs twice a week please🤧
The things this man drinks out of kills me every time 😂
please do the whole trilogy you wont regret it at all, she is the only artist that actually helped me grow into the person i am today, im finally going to see her in person after years of being unable to because of how poor i was. I can say that melanie is the most creative artist i know and she put her, sweat, blood and tears into all her projects, Shes becoming more popular and it makes me happy but i promise you the story of crybaby and the Nymph she was reborn as will keep you on edge. She even created a movie for her second album and now were waiting for her to get enough funds to make her last movie for this trilogy and this time it wont be a semi musical, K-12 her second album was a movie/musical but it is amazing!
NOW shes hoping to gain enough funds to create her music videos and her last movie which will only be dialogue and im PRAYING that she gets the funds because i know she has the talent to make such a magical movie even without music!!!
hi i’ve been listening to her music for the longest and i still find something new, she’s gets really creative with her sounds ESPECIALLY in k-12 like in teachers pet it took me awhile while to realize the sound at the beginning was a fly being swatted even after watching the film but i think since the story’s in each mv are connected you should listen to them as they are listed on the track list trust me you won’t regret it
Y'all gotta check out carousel and soap from her. Beats are crazy good!!
Sippy cup and carousel are amazing
Yess more Melanie ❤🎉❤
sippy cup! sippy cup! love your reactions guys, i really appreciate that you guys actually analyze the lyrics
More Melanie please ❤
Sippy Cup It's my personal favorite, I can't wait for more!
You need to watch these in order! They tell a whole story!
im so excited for this melanie marathon !!
Melanie awesome!
Loving the Melanie rabbit hole!!!!!! Soap, Sippy Cup, ANY OF THEM REALLY!!!🥰
You guys should react to K-12 The Film. It’s AMAZING! It’s like an hour and a half long but so worth it
i saw the notification for this video pop up and instantly clicked!! i loved the reaction can’t wait for what’s next!
OMG MELANIE MARTINEZ💟🛐
More Melanieee!
Please continue!!! Your reactions are so good as you can literally see the empathy in your faces as you listen to stories like these …which is exactly what we want to see. Mel is never shy at addressing topics that should be outspoken & it’s really good food for thought & very relatable even if we don’t talk about it
Hi from Brazil, guys!!! Please continue with the journey into Melanie's world 🙏 I met her in 2015 (when I was only 10 lol), and I've been in love with her art ever since. It's great to find people like you who know how to recognize what a great artist Melanie is! Unfortunately, she doesn't receive recognition from the music industry precisely because she strays from the standards. She talks about those subjects that people normally don't want to hear on headphones, and in a unique way. Melanie is an incredible singer, director and producer of her songs and videos. She plays a central role in the production of everything she releases. As you may already know by now, Melanie Martinez's three albums are a trilogy of the story of the character Cry Baby, who is introduced in the first song on the album with the same name. The story really makes more sense when heard in order, but it doesn't become disjointed if you prefer to listen separately as well. Particularly, the Cry Baby album is my favorite. The lyrics are very deep - not that the other albums don't also have impeccable lyrics - and it's crazy to think that a teenager / young adult wrote and created all of this!
Melanie is a great writer. The feature I like most about her songs are the analogies. "Someone's turning the handle to that faucet in your eyes"; "Potatoes turn to French fries, it's common sense". She plays with words to say what she wants to say. And this is present in ALL of her songs. She is very creative and intelligent.
I'm very excited to see you react to the other clips and especially the songs. I think you'll love getting to know Melanie's world ;)
EDIT: if you want to hear more of Melanie's voice, she participated in The Voice in 2012, when she was a teenager, and her vocal power is very clear in her performances!
EDIT2: Melanie also produced a movie to the "K-12" album. She does everything.
keep reacting to melanie PLEASEEEE
shes so perfect, listening to her music every day as a child definitely molded my personality
I'm really loving her music. Excited to continue the journey with y'all!
its a dream coming true ♥ i love ur reacts cuz u both care bout the important stuff and is so pleasant to see how it hits good for u.
Loved it!
I check your channel everyday to check if you did another melanie reaction. Love the vids!!
lovingg the melanie reactions!!!
Ive been a fan of melanie since i was a kid, i am now an adult. I listen to her music everyday on my way to college and it still makes me emotional but keeps me in touch with my feelings. She is so talented and i love watching her continue to grow💗
More Melanie Martinez, please, she's my favorite!!! I love your reaction❤️🇧🇷
Yall need to watch and listen to her songs IN ORDER, IT FOLLOWS A STORY, THINGS WILL CORRELATE A LOT MORE!!!! She has videos for all the songs in her first 2 albums, and he newest album the 3rd, ending the trilogy, she is making videos for them all too!
Definitely so excited for this she has helped me through hard times in my life
You should definitely go down the melanie rabbit hole, her songs are so fun and meaningful. The visuals bring it together.
i normally don't comment but after having been through two journeys with you guys (sleep token & NF), i can HIGHLY recommend going through melanie's journey. i click on these videos so fast whenever i see you've uploaded. will be super interesting to see how you handle the K-12 movie if you do follow through with her albums! i think i've watched it about four times now. keep up the great work guys, always a joy seeing you react to new artists ❤
I love that you’re at the beginning of her artistic direction. She just evolves and evolves and youll definitely be intrigued
I’m so excited for when they go down the rabbit hole😊
I’m so excited that you guys are getting into Melanie
that circus sound/childishness is the sound of her first album and her music journey/ discography is based around her character Crybaby growing. i love when people get into Melanie XD
Don't think she's anyone I'd listen to on my own. But I'll definitely watch the journey if you guys go through it all.
This song always hit so close for me because I was bullied in school and cry baby was my nickname to everyone because it was easy to make me cry and they all loved to do it. Now I'm an adult and I know that being emotionally affected by things and not being jaded to the world is actually a powerful thing.
Indeed talented Melanie🥰🧚♀️
I haven't listened to this song since middle school and when I was younger I don’t remember crying much. It wasn't until high school that I started noticing I'd tear up whenever my emotions got too strong over something. I feel overly sensitive sometimes so rn when she said "I have the same faucet in my eyes, so your tears are mine" I actually started tearing up which is something that never happened before when I listened to her. Oh wow
Deffidently so her trilogy in order!! This is her first song on her first album!! Her 3 albums are Crybaby, K-12, and Portals, they all follow this same character named Crybaby, theres lots ot hevay themes always sung and brought up in childlike ways. Shes an amazing artist, i know yall loved the Sleep token trilogy, and now billie eilish, and now Melanie Martinez, she will be a big hit on your channel for sure!
Thanks for the reaction guys, I been waiting for this one! Next in order is "sippy cup" and I would love for you to continue reacting to her music (I recommend that you activate the subtitles of the video to be able to react by reading the lyrics at the same time). I met Melanie through this song in 2016 and I instantly identified with the lyrics Because people always told me that I am very sensitive and that I cry very easily, I always saw it as a defect until I met Mel and she made me feel understood. She changed my life and it makes me very happy that you are liking her music ♥️.
I feel like I can't choose one song to rec. Every song on this album is fire, and there are so many videos. It's art.
I am happy they are reaction to her !!!!! I love her music so much !!!!!
Sippy cup!!!! Definitely do the official video, still love that you are doing the whole follow the white rabbit, down the hole thing with melanie is so worth it and amazing
I’m so excited for this music journey! Melanie is definitely unparalleled in style and lyrics. Dead To Me and Sippy Cup are hard hitters 🤘
The thing I love about Melanie is not only are her songs both amazing and unique, but her music videos have such artsy and weird depictions and scenery, I love it
Love Melanie Martinez! ❤ Love your reaction too!
Yesss thank u for starting from the beginning! Now u have already reacted to 2 and 3 so ur next is Carousel and it will show u a next level o pop performance and every song/ video is a banger. This is gonna be fun!
I looove these melanie reactions …. I would recommend you watch it in order for sure
i don't know the exact order for her songs but one of my favorite ones lyrically wise is "Show & Tell"
I love all her music. I hope you guys cover more.
I love these videos! Melanie is an excellent singer. You guys should react to them in order
I love that you guys are reacting to her😍😍😁😁🥳🥳
Go through the Cry Baby album, then K-12 and finally Portals. On their own, they tell stories but if you listen in order of the track lists through all three it tells something much more. Melanie is an incredible artist and I’m so happy to watch both of your journeys!
this is the second vid i watch of you guys, what is up with the random cups LMFAOOOO
Much love from Sudbury Ontario Canada
PLEASE DO MOREEEE!!
Love her uniqueness
BEEN WAITINGGGGGGGGG
Sippy cup is next song to check out for sure! I love that you are enjoying her so much
i cannot wait for you to see her other two albums they r intense but so good
Don't know if you guys will see this but here's the run down!
You don't have to react to everything or the albums, but I hope you react to Portals because it is the most influential album (in my opinion).
Crybaby, K-12, and Portals are all a trilogy, and all show the development of her musical style.
Crybaby album is about Crybaby's childhood and the family she was born into. It has some songs that aren't as lore coded, like Carousel, Alphabet Boy, and Cake, etc. But they all apply to real situations or feelings she (or others) has been through. If you just want the lore-based songs (to understand the trilogy) I would recommend: Crybaby, Dollhouse, Sippy Cup, and Tag You're It/Milk and Cookies (these songs are all darker and display her family or traumatic events of her "childhood".
K-12 album is about Crybaby growing up (hence the K-12 as in school years) and talks about societal issues like predatory men, expectations of women, eating disorders, and more. K-12 does have a movie that I and a lot of fans recommend you watch (even if just on your own time) because it has some important scenes and shows all the songs with choreography (Its completely free on UA-cam as well).
Portals is a concept album and the end to the trilogy. The theme is death, reincarnation, being reborn (you'll understand these themes if you watch K-12 to see where they came from). Portals is a beautiful album and closer to the trilogy, however some fans are upset as Portals is very experimental and differs from the style she's had for years and built her fanbase around.
Wonderful video as always - Keep up the great work!! ❤
keep doing her ❤
YESS A MELANIE MARATHON OF ALL HER ALBUMS PLEASE
The bunnies are because when Melanie was younger she had a pet bunny, but then got a dog and her parents said she couldn’t have a bunny and a dog, so they gave the bunny away to a friend who already had a bunny and they left the bunnies unattended in the backyard for about 4 hours and found the bunny of the friend in a neighbours backyard and her bunny’s head was in their yard, so she has a bunny head tattooed for her bunny and I assume that’s also why bunnies keep showing up in the mv’s
I loveee her music, I’d love for you guys to keep listening to her!!
please go in order and do full projects 🥹
im here for the journey
oh man I can't wait for them to react to tag your it, and the k-12 songs.
I really recommend sippy cup, the lyrics are pretty deep (just like in all her songs) and the song itself just sounds amazing
The albums in order are:
Cry Baby, K-12 and then Portals., all her albums tell a continuous story so listening to them in order would defiantly be the best experience. Cry Baby is the first song of the first album and then that leads into DollHouse that's why throughout this video we see the doll house being shown. The next songs in order are
Sippy Cup
Carousel
Alphabet Boy
Soap
Training Wheels
Pity Party
Tag, You’re It
Milk and Cookies
Pacify Her
Mrs.Potato Head
Mad Hatter -----> (End of the album)
Loved watching u guys react to one of my long time fav. artist and actually being open to the way she expresses herself through her videos as well as just being a total vibe in general. Definatly would love to see more reactions to her😤😌
I know you are going to go through them all… but looking forward to when you guys react to “Carousel”
her newest album PORTALS is a must to listen
k 12 the movie! !!! watch it! it is her full album made into a movie,, good storyline and amazing songs and just beautiful to watch!
La van a amar, porque ella es una artista única en lo que hace 🖤
MOREEEE MELANIE!!!!!
After Our Juliet covered this as a rock song, I think y'all might enjoy that!
Didn't add why before I posted it, but there's a reason. "Crybaby" is usually associated with crying out of sadness, fear, those kinds of "lighter" bad emotions. But the rock cover really brings out the side that tears from anger and frustration involve. That kind of different energy.
high school sweethearts is my favorite from her milk 'n cookies is a good one to!
You will love her music more with every song and album. ❤
Melanie has a way with curse words in her song were u don't even notice it she cursed, normally their used to pack a punch but when she sings a curse word it just sounds like any other word, its so confusing and cool at the same time🤣
Testing the waters? Guys dive in!! We’re ready for the Melanie rabbit hole ❤
I like your MM reactions, keep going 😁
EVIL is my absolute favourite from Melanie, sooo good
