*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. @@Wiley_Coyote K-12 definitely has to watched as the whole movie. Without the dialogue and story building, the songs make little sense as a cohesive narrative.
@@meggsy82 I agree with you on that, but I think orange juice and lunchbox friends can be watched stand alone because they are more about symbolism rather than the storyline (of course they are still connected with the story line they are just easy to understand without knowing the plot) but the rest of the songs are strongly focusing on the storyline of the movie

The entire crybaby album is dark with childlike instrumentals. Each song has a music video, except the 3 bonus tracks Play Date, Teddy Bear & Cake. You have to watch the music videos in order to understand the entire story.

you're literally the smartest react person ever. Like everytime I see someone react to Melanie Martinez they always think she's weird and make fun of her, but you actually look at the message of the song and really listen to it. You relate it with the world and what we can learn from it. You also talk about the mood and tone the song creates. I'm just impressed, thank you for being logical.
Her videos individually don't always have a lot of plot movement, but they exist to support the lyrics, which drive the story too. The images set an atmosphere and the words, while not always a plot per se, build a scenario. Then that scenario gets expanded in the next song/video.
Other than Sippy Cup. That music video is pretty literal.

i kinda interpret the "you laugh through your tears" part as when someone seems worried about me bc im crying i usually start laughing and saying its no big deal im just being dramatic. and when i try to explain something and i feel totally fine till i start speaking and i start bawling right on the spot lol

"Crybaby" was actually Melanie's childhood nickname, and this song (and the character) is based more on herself/her thoughts
To the little Rewind.. as a crybaby myself, I kinda see it to when I am crying, and I can feel it slowing down, but then I take a deep breath and suddenly it starts up again, like that breath loosened up the tears that got stuck, the rewind was just long enough for that deep breath before you start all over again.
And I hope you complete Melanie's stories, she has said herself that her albums are more 1 very long song or movie split into several parts, and to look at every song as turning to a new chapter in a book, and not as separate songs. And her new album as the next book in the same story. I love artists that do that. Just like BTS told a story over several albums.
That's why the last part of crybaby mv is there was flowing out of water in the dollhouse because they are in the dollhouse so the next song is *Dollhouse* the continuation of the story and life of the character crybaby. Btw, you should react to her vocals (live) she came from *The Voice* and she almost got to win but she didn't make it through the finals *she's team Adam*
The lyrics “I look at you and see myself, I know you’re better than anyone else, I have the same faucets in my eyes, so your tears are mine” (transition to Melanie referring to herself as crybaby) means a lot to me because it means that I am not alone in my emotions. Melanie humbles herself by relating to her listeners.

She directs all her own videos btw and she had a movie come out for her second album called k-12 where each song represent kindergarten thru senior yr so that was neato
The concept of the album is, every song title is something you could relate to kids (Mrs. Potato Head, Tag You're It, Dollhouse) but the actual content of the songs is dark and deep. I defenitely wanna see your reaction to Tag You're It/Milk and Cookies. 💗

You should watch the whole album in order! That would make more sense, they are all connected to each other and all the music videos are making one storyline in total. The water is coming out of the dollhouse as a reference to the next song "Dollhouse". All of her songs have so much depth and some really meaningful points. watch them in order by the tracklisting:

There are meanings behind every song that Melanie Martinez makes. For example dollhouse, Melanie’s most popular song. In the song Melanie describes how behind a frame they are all messed up. The meaning behind it is not everyone is perfect. Another example is Gingerbread man. In the song Melanie Martinez says that she doesn’t want to get into a serious relationship with “gingerbread man.” The meaning is she just wants a one night stand or a hookup.
The new song Lunchbox friends from her movie K-12 is another great example. It talks about how she wants real friends and nothing fake. As you can see there are meanings behind all her songs. She talks about what shes been through through every single one of her songs. The song crybaby has a very meaningful meaning. Like Josh said she talks about how shes overwhelmed by all of the stress and sometimes she cant hold it in.

Yup I listen to this song again and only now do I realize I relate to this with the fact that I almost hate the friends I’ve made at school. I can breakdown in class because I almost never vent to anyone and never once cared what they thought of me afterwards. I feel like sometimes no one understands how I feel and I struggle to stop crying once I start. So I realized how much I can relate to this song.
I think it's amazing how Melanie not only connects each song but now her two albums are also connected in the stories (the nurse at the beginning had black eyes like the girls in K12 do)
I’ve noticed the rabbit doctors everywhere from the crybaby album too k-12 if I remember correctly because in mad hatter something happens to her and she gains powers (u don’t know what they are until u connect it and watch k-12 in order after)

All of Melanie's music relates back to in the one character Cry Baby and it's basically just talks about her life in order from all the songs which makes it really incredible cuz I haven't seen any other artists have done that before and it all has meaning behind it behind all different disorders that people have body imagery along with anorexia it's just it's incredible how she does her music it inspires a lot of people to get better and get help when they need it and I recently went to one of her concerts and it was incredible
I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned but this album, Crybaby, tells a story and shows different points in Crybaby's life. (The album actually comes with a storybook if you buy it) The reason why nothing really seems to happen in this video is because it sets context for the main character and her family and shows the atmosphere surrounding her birth. In the following music videos we see her grow up and the other characters are explained further.

Yes her giving birth is in the album, and if no one has mentioned the recurring bunnies in her videos that’s just her style besides you watching her videos you can look up crybaby storyline on Google it has all of her coloring book pictures and it gives a big clue to the videos connecting. My favourite songs and videos of hers are definitely Dollhouse and Mad Hatter, and the next to watch after this is actually Dollhouse.

She’s said before that her character is called crybaby because when she was a child the kids called her it because she was sensitive so I always took the song as just being a sensitive person and how people are sometimes taken aback by it
