I can not put into words, how happy I am that you guys love her as much as I do. I found Melanie about 10 years ago. And I went down the BIGGEST rabbit hole ever. Knowing that she can from The Voice excites me. It shows that you can do anything. She has built an empire and she isn’t going anywhere. From Cry Baby and K-12 all the way to portals, she’s not only telling the story of Cry Baby, but herself. Her finding herself. Her knowing and accepting who she is. She’s a badass. I love her!!! Can’t wait for more!! Sippy Cup is my next request!!!
Melanie Martinez - ‘Mrs. Potato Head’ was the hardest song to write on the album. I had the idea for it for a while, just the title and the comparison to how you can, you know, change the pieces of Mrs. Potato Head’s face, and how that can double as a meaning for changing how you look. I think it was the hardest song to write just because I didn’t want it to come off as, you know, bashing people who get plastic surgery in any way, because that wasn’t the point. The whole point was, changing how you look isn’t gonna fix your insecurities.
You guys should totally watch her audition on the voice, it's super unique, she plays Toxic by Britney Spears but she basically makes it her own song with her quirky energy. ''Tag, You're 'i't/Milk and Cookies'' is probably my favorite, but ''Cry Baby'' and ''Alphabet Boy'' are also great ones to watch next

I think it is so cool that Melanie is able to talk about adult themes & traumatic experiences while disguising it under childlike metaphors and simultaneously portraying a full story with each album. I highly recommend mad hatter or sippy cup next!
Another thing I want to say. This is for everyone. Not just Eric and Kyle. You do what makes YOU happy. Don’t do things to appease everyone else. FUCK society’s standards of beauty. Men and women. In all honesty. I have lived through the discrimination. I’m a plus size woman who served in the military. It wasn’t kind to me. I have the ugly sister syndrome. Everyone compares me to her CONSTANTLY!!! People aren’t kind. Love YOURSELF. Love who you are. The things that make you unique, love those things about you.
Eric and Kyle both, are truly accepting of everyone. You don’t have to pretend to be someone or something you’re not. They will accept you for who you are. Without judgement. As will I.

Truly. My daughter seeing Melanie made her love the gap she has between her own front teeth. She was always self conscious of if before, and now she thinks it's beautiful and is sad that it might close as her teeth grow in

Everytime I hear this song I cry. Unfortunately Ive felt like this. I was 14 when this came out and I was feeling really bad about my self and i really hated myself and this song captures what I felt at that time. Melanie has been a big influence in the music I write and this song in particular and this topic inspired one of my favorite songs ive ever written. He music is just so full of emotion even the songs that have more of an upbeat sound have such emotional lyrics.

I was lucky enough to see her in concert at VooDoo Fest in New Orleans. She was the only artist that night who paused everything to check on fans when they fell or people used their phone lights to get her/securitys attention for help. And when her set was done she asked us all to stay safe, not leave our drinks unattended, and escort each other to our cars or home.
She really cares about her fans.

I cry everytime I hear this song. Seeing how much of a level Melanie dug down to showing outcomes and ways to cope or get out of life situations along with showing those what it looks like in people’s eyes problems people face everyday. This one always hits hard due to a lot of relationships built on appearance. My sister was with someone who judged her saying she needed a boob job and needed her moles removed off her back. She was always so self conscious from a single man saying something hurtful that she eventually went and got 1,000 dollar breast implants.
To anyone reading this that’s going through a rough time. You matter and you’re beautiful the way you are, don’t ever forget that.

When this song came out I got out of an abusive relationship & had my teeth broke because of it, so all I dreamed about was fixing my teeth. But as I’ve gotten older & once I heard this song I realized they just make me who I am, & now this song is my favorite of hers ❤️

I started listening to Mel many years ago and I remember this song coming out when I was abt 13 and immediately fell in love with it (and all of the crybaby album) I idolised Melanie but also found her such an inspiration to find who I truly was and not who I thought my parents wanted me to be. I think her music is a large factor in my growing up to be very passionately myself. I just adore her and her creativity and love seeing people react to her. Great video!!

To me being a RENegade this one reminds me the most of rens dominos. It has the same concept but told in each person's VERY unique way of storytelling.
