Ed didn't need his vehicle recovered, he just wanted his road widened.
With age comes wisdom lol

Clearly! It would have been faster to take apart that Suzuki and carry it out in backpacks.

Operation golden banana
Wow, Ed's voice sounds so much clearer and energetic than normal! Noticed it big time around 5:10 ... I feel like it's because he's really excited about the trip, and getting his Jimny back after all those years. I'm real happy you did that for Ed, Matt!
Absolutely insane! This is the epitome of off road, taking a vehicle somewhere it was never meant to be. My respect for the work, effort and sheer will put in to this adventure. The ultimate recovery.
I’ve been in groups where we were off-roading/rock crawling and we made our own road. Best time off-roading honestly, something about carving your own path that was never there. However like Matt says, there is places where some ppl who aren’t capable shouldn’t go, as well as places you shouldn’t go in certain vehicles and ppl do.
Best episode yet!
“We’re basically children…”, that says it all.
Can’t wait till the end when Lizzy gives Ed his “I made a call” shirt. Awesome work by all!
I don't think they say that anymore . I think they just give a Matts off road recovery T shirt
Classic, they should print one just for him.... :)
A custom plaid shirt
Wait until he gets the bill.
@@hbunnie1120 A one off "Ed's made a call".
Lol, I figured out that this whole golden nugget operation is really about a chance to get out on a road trip with the crew to do some camping and challenging 4-wheeling!
This was one of the very first MORR videos I ever watched. I didn't really know who any of these people were, but I liked their vibe. I have now come full circle watching from the beginning and fully appreciate the "characters" and their interactions so much more. What a ride.
"not that cold °F"
"not that cold °C"
That cracked me up. I love that you always add celcius but this was amazing
Thanks, I missed that :)

Tee shirt material right there..
I hope Ed, reads these comments, and knows how much he's loved.
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery that's awesome Matt👍❤️
What a magnificent crew! Their persistence is only matched by their reckless, but well-planned bravery and determination. Of course, none of this matters without the mostly seamless editing and the candid capture of the loveable personalities. Just like in a good movie, the viewer is drawn in and cares about the players. From the craggy Marlboro man Ed, who has a PhD in life experience, to the fearless and hot Tom-Boy Lizzy, we have a battalion of Recovery Crew + Max and other dogs that we eagerly anticipate watching. Just carry on, pull the tourists out and continue to make top-notch videos. Your audience loves them.
I felt like I was holding my breath watching watching that jeep drive through there
I’m impressed with all of this but as a sailor, I shout out to Tom Tom, who works all day and then cooks for the whole crew. Good Stuff and well played.
Is he a real chef? He really seems to know what he is doing 😊
@@patriciastory2754 real chef or not I know he's welcome to tag along on any of my wheeling trips, he's a real team player

@@patriciastory2754 Hobby cooks makes better food than chefs.
Us Navy guys know food is the most important thing. Though I was on a carrier, and the food can get kind of rough sometimes when you are cooking for that many people.
Best Matt quote EVER: "Since we're basically children, we're gonna give it a try."
Kinda summed up the whole mission eh?
@@agremllin Yep! Lol!
Sums up why this channel is so fun to watch too. Big kids working hard and having fun.
Thats how you do it.
Holy cow put that into perspective Ed was Paul's age when he drove that Suzuki into those mountains. Seeing everything that Paul's doing now he's so busy. Can't imagine how life must of been for Ed back then. Damn
After watching this I get the feel of Ed being a prospector! Plenty gold there !!
We’ll get ‘em out………indeed we will!😎
Y'all make a heck of a dream team
Great friends make for great memories. Nice spotting Fab Rats
Spoiler alert! What the heck...
Let’s get fab rats to a milli subs

I've never seen a video that exemplifies the old adage, "Life's about the journey, not the destination." more than this, and it makes my heart so happy to see it. What a lucky bunch of people to have such a great tribe and to have gotten together for such an adventure.
So true Nymrawd. I've never seen a group of people so happy while all working together to accomplish something that was darn near impossible. Look at those smiles!!!!!!!!
I love these people. ❤️
Well said.
Well said ! Epic Bunch of Great People Living & Loving Life ! We all need to strive for this type of comradery.
To be honest I cryed a wee bit here and there,. I'm 48 and it touched me to see Ed and the hole team doing it like they must have with waggons and horses 120 years ago!!! Working as a family as well as a team.. my favourite video so far.. 😊 very well seid .. this is going to be a classic
Dang y’all put some crazy effort into this and still had smiles to give at the end of the day. Amazing teamwork and spirit.
Wow! What a day! All I could think of while watching was how valuable your crew was. And I was thinking, “Don’t try this at home”! A huge adventure. You all are great friends of Ed and Matt to come do this hard labor on your time off.
"We know the hard spots now"
"The whole thing?!"
Probably the hardest I laughed at the entire video.
And it won’t be ANY different towing another vehicle, RIGHT? Still, I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts they get it out.
I love that the crew is doing $20,000 in work to rescue a $300 vehicle...for Ed! Love it!
acording to sosial blade they can be making that back of the videos so its a win win , we get great content , they get to have a fun time , and still make a dollar at the end of the day
But I wouldn't pay $ 300 for a Suzuki that was already in bad shape before spending 47 years in the woods
I’m thinking the videos will pay for the recovery and the restoration
Isn't it against the law to abandon a vehicle?
@@mikemiller3007 Doubt it. Not worth it either. Ridiculous waste of everything involved.
I have to admit, I was glued to the screen and holding on to my seat as if I was in the Jeep! Y'all are crazy in a great way! What an Adventure!
That's me during every video!
That old man seems like he's still got more life and strength than most guys my age
This is both the coolest, and most heart warming recovery y'all have ever done. The man who always says "We'll get 'em out" finally gets his turn 🙏

Little does the team know, Ed has been secretly training them all for this moment for many years.
Amen to that.
I’m not so sure they are doing it for Ed. He is just the excuse to take their inner child out to play. He will be the beneficiary of their need for adventure and, an adrenaline rush.
When the rock drill came out I thought for sure Ed was going to pull a stick of dynamite out of his pocket and say "look what I have here!"
OMG, I thought the same thing!
I thought they were going to find a bunch of gold nuggets in there
Ed: “hold my beer, oh and block your ears….”
Your right about that he is an old time minor.
Yup,drill and dynamite! I thought the same thing.
The surroundings look like where I used to have my gold claim. I've got to share this with you...
I was at my claim, many years ago, when this one-armed gold panner stopped by to talk shop.
He caught me really off-guard when he held up his one good hand, and with a twinkle in his eye, proudly proclaimed "Y'know, I found a nugget THIS BIG one time..."
I pray that I have friends half as awesome when I'm Ed's age. This was a true labor of love & I'm so glad y'all put in the extra work to bring us all along for the adventure!
47 years ago this was just a story, now it's on video that will last forever. I bet Ed has a million of them.
If they did a remake of "The Goonies" as adults....this is it! Absolutely my favorite thing on the internet today guys! I can't say enough good about this episode! Thank you all for being awesome!
thats uncredible. i love to hear amazing stories like that. glad to see you got to it. No amount of effort is to much when it comes to earning that feeling of accomplishment you get from completing a feat such as this. much respect to matt and the crew for being will to take on a task like this.
You deserve all the good that is happening to you, Matt & everyone. Keep gettin' 'em out!

Can't wait to see them try and get it out. Gonna be nuts but this crew is rock solid and works well together
I loved every minute. I hope the next videos have more time than just 29 minutes.
My friend and I went on a road like this. Our other friend told us he had gone up it with his jeep. He lied. It was a small quad trail like this and I had to drive up a very step embankment to turn us back around. He stood outside the truck when I did it. LOL. We made it safe and he said it looks rad as hell. It was not rad from inside the truck lol. Love these videos. Brings back memories!
You people are AWESOME. Thank you for this vicarious adventure. I only wish I was not 71, I'd love to be a part of the incredible job your team accomplished. Super RESPECT from a man that has been in construction for over 55 years.

Dude hell yeah. I'd buy it.
It's absolutely amazing what you can do with good spotters and patience! That was awesome!
Love the fact that Ed's got a cigarette going in just about every shot. The man is hard core.
"Well we know the hard spots now."
"The whole thing?"

That one got a giggle here also.
..and let's do it towing a car on the way out! On the plus side, this is about the best advertisement you can give for his service. Although I don't really want to know what it would cost to actually hire Matt for this recovery.
I don’t know what it is but a lot of the videos I go to, I see lonely sandwich
Ed gets them all out even if it takes 47 years. This is my favorite crew ever right here
The driving skills shown are second to none. Knowing your vehicle down to the centimetre, tyre size, position, width of vehicle, power of engine, even the sensitivity of the accelerator. OMG! Impressive. And the team's knowledge of intricacies of physics without knowing physics, which way to tilt, drag, pull and winch. Wow!
Tom Tom sent me . Glad I got to see him in over 100 recovery episodes before I saw this video. Tom is irreplaceable.

A great example of how important good spotters are. Nice work by all.
OK let me just say that this show keeps amazing me... my brain is overloaded with anxiety and then Matt and team make it happen. I have great admiration for them. Best show on you tube!!!!!!!
Okay, the "Not that cold" in F and C just cracked me up. Well played.
I would happily take a week vacation, pay for my portion of food and fuel, and work my ass off for free just to be a part of this.
I wouldn't even need to be included in the footage. This is the most wholesome and fun UA-cam channel I have ever seen. You guys are the best.
Looking forward to the next one in the series and can't wait for you all to get our beloved Ed's Suzuki out. Love you all! 🙏

There's something about Ed being in his own environment, he just seems to be so alive ❤️
I noticed that too! And, he walked most of the way!
Well where he lives now is a pretty miserable by comparison to THAT. Also the smell of forest really wakes you up😂
He did seem really up and happy in this episode. He likes those woods a lot
I noticed that also.
I can't blame him, it's beautiful and peaceful out there.
21:07 - 😱 WOW, how strong little trees are! That’s a learning lesson for us all, don’t collide with trees, the tree will win over you and your car! 🤗☺️
Machelle I have had this on my mind since I saw it. When people commented how they didn't like your laugh and comments about the kids. I think that those people jealous, I love your laugh and seeing the boys in the shop is a great thing. enjoy it while you can.
This episode has hooked me. For a crew to be effective they need a leader that they trust and want to follow. They believe that they can do it because the leader believes it can be done. That is you Matt. I am pulling for you all 100%.
and a great copilot

And the Best Leaders pick the Best Team Members and know when to rely on them and when to supplant their own judgement. That’s why Matt is such a good Leader!!
G,day from Sydney Australia.
This recovery must rate as the highest difficulty carried out by all personnel using 4x4 and accessory equipment.
The logistics involved to safeguard and transport, both people and vehicles cannot be underestimated: injuries are at a high risk factor.
A great demonstration of teamwork, trust and experience.

This recovery was insane. Great job, guys.
Usualy not so fond of UA-cams feature to show old videos ”on top” when there is nothing new to watch but this one Ill gladly watch over and over again
Imagine being Matt.. a genuinely nice dude who seems to alway be in a good mood, never loses his cool and who took a chance on making you tube videos and now after years of hard work seeing a video you posted 9hrs ago has been watched by almost 1/2 a million people. That’s amazing.

I've had the privilege to experience real fluid teamwork on several fire rescue situations and complicated events. Watching Matt's family of friends working together with fluidic positivity, safe can-do approach, and minimal personalized ego has been an over-all highlight for myself.

Very impressed with the team work and driving skills displayed by Matt and friends.
By far the absolute best video so far. I cant wait for part 2 , 3 , lol great job
Reminds me of the old military adage that “the tough jobs we did right away but the impossible took a bit longer.”
Kudos for an incredible successful team effort which must have been how early wagon trains made it to their destinations. Well done indeed! 👍
And no air filled rubber tires.
"Thats how Matt threw out his back." I relate far too much....
Amazing video series! Love that there is a rescue of a long-lost truck, the tricky trail, etc. Well done all.
I'm just so impressed you were able to reach the truck. I would have been so discouraged by the old road (footpath?) that I wouldn't have even tried. So damned impressive!
