I turned my Ed bobble head away from the computer so the build is out of his sight. LOL You’re good people for doing this for him. 🙏🏼
😂😂
Glad there is a sense of urgency and not a 5 year project. You're right... "Ed is not getting any younger"....though i wish Ed many more years.
And he's apparently an avid tobacco enthusiast lol... i don't know how old he is but I hope he's around at least another decade to enjoy this rig

@@larrybe2900 Gotcha. I'll happily delete my comment.

I will do the same. Thanks.
yea its not a second project binky
4:48 - not gonna lie, I am *dang* impressed at what Robby was able to do to the front left fender with a winch and a couple hammers.
40 years... wow! 🚙
this is actually youtube wtf
Not who I expected to comment here
@UA-cam welcome to the channel!!
Hmmm
Matt is gonna be SOOOOO Jelly!!! LOL!!
Near the end when Michelle said we are awesome as the viewers...Michelle...naw, you folks are awesome for taking on this project. It's definitely not going to be an easy one but the blood, sweat and tears that Paul and crew will put into this...will be so worth it in the end.
I can't believe how quick Robbie(y?) got that corner straightened out! None of his usual tools, just Paul's hammers and a winch as the puller! Amazing work. I can only imagine what he can do with the correct tools.
Ed will be cruising in style shortly-thanks to the tremendously over-the-top efforts of many: it’s good to have folks who love on others because love wins, always. ✌🏻🔧❤️👏🏻
Ed's a good guy. It's because of him I know what the weather was in Utah a week and a half to two weeks ago. 🤔
i wouldnt say shortly ,something like this is 100s AND 100S of hours.its confusing for people
who watch videos and have never done anything like this, they think it happens over the course of a couple videos,IT DOESN'T...
Im sure it isnt free. Calm down with your little feel good moment!

Can't wait to see Ed's reaction. He seems like such a cool old dude.
I came across this site purely by accident I'm based in the UK
the rescue of of the golden nugget facinated me and has got me hooked on watching. Keep up the good work🙂👍👍👍👍
“This has to happen fast….Ed’s not getting any younger” 😂😂 None of us are buddy!
True, but Ed is in his 80's. That was the point Paul was making.
@@timothygeiger437 yup, a project car for someone has only purpose when that person can drive it.
Love what you guys are doing, and why. Loved the session with your two junior mechanics. This one definitely brings a smile to my face, it's a major feel good. Looking forward to more on her.
ED still. Drives on recoveries and asphalt
ED still drives on recoveries and asphalt. Is careful but still game
Gracie: "I've got to come to the shop more!" Wise words young lady!
Yea, that'll make you feel like a good dad hearing your kids talk like that.
Careful - I bet Paul said that once and look where that ended up....!
Awesome project
Loving it big time ❤️❤️
@@grapesforallofus shut up
It is a testament to the character of Ed that several groups of people got together to find, plan, retrieve, transport and fix a car that was lost for near half a century, because Ed.
The list of people that could claim to have friends that would do that for them, is not a long one I'd say.
Got to love Ed.
Let's be honest here, it's an interesting project to make videos about (recover and rebuild) and make some bank on views. It's not just charity and goodwill. This project alone already has almost 9 million views between this channel and Matt's Channel. That's good ad money, nobody's working "for free"
Your family content "what is this?...." is priceless. Your son absolutely glowed when he answered on the master cylinder. This way more important than you might know. And including your daughter was smart.
Loved her comment “I need to spend more time in the shop” that’s a win!
I came over from Matt's channel and glad I did. You are raising the kids right! Even if you aren't going to be a mechanic everyone who drives should have basic knowledge of under-hood parts. Start with older cars and expand from there. My boys helped me in garage from time to time, my daughter....well I am working on that. Over 30 years as a mechanic and really enjoy your channel!
Smart move doing the crossover episode(retrieving suzuki) then starting a segment on fixing it on your channel. I probably never would've found you guys. Love the energy. Your well on track to your second vid with 1m views and many more!
Seeing the smile on your son's face when he said master cylinder was priceless!
Some commenters are upset with the body damage that happened during the recovery. The biggest point here is that they removed it from where it was sitting, even if Ed had said just scrap the f'ing thing. The fact that Fab Rats is going to take on this project is just a plus for us viewers and his channel. Go Paul!
"If you don't like cartoons. We aren't friends. Whoever you are." Damn right!
Paul, I'll bet you're a Johnny Quest fan.
Sounds like something you would hear in Letterkenny.
Old school cartoons are the BEST!!!💯😃👍
@@utahradioman you know it👍

I love watching your family, the things that you're teaching your children have been missing in this society for awhile God bless you and your family!
It's not missing if you yourself live like that.
Paul, what about You & Matt setting up "A Donation Account" to help with this build. I'm sure A LOT of Subscribers Would Love To Pitch In For Ed!!!
I’d pitch in.
You guys should use the old drivers door as a frame for the group picture, you took in the mountains, as a memento for Ed's family.
Floor standing - great idea
I concur, what a great piece for the wall.
YES
Best idea yet!
That is so cool that everyone came together to find a donor vehicle. I don’t think I have ever even seen one of these Suzukis until this one was retrieved. Great Job!
You know I have worked as a Mercedes-Benz technician for 40 years and yet I still love watching Paul tear apart and rebuild these mini ventures he is always doing keep up the good work this channel can be very amusing at times I love your laughMichelle
Hearing that you found a parts vehicle can almost make a grown man cry. Love what y’all are doing.
I'm SOOOOOOO glad you found a suitable donor vehicle, and that you're doing this for the love of Ed. I know it's a long way off, but I'm giddy with anticipation for the final reveal
Me Too!!!
Yup.
So 2 days ago I found your channel igniting my love for Willy's. Today cruised over to my uncles house to say hi and sure nuff he had a 45 Willy's sitting on the side with 0 rust and actually running. Thought I would never have a chance to get one. He originally bought it for the snow plow and wench on the front. $1000 takes it he says.... Yup, new owner of Willy's Jeep all original just needs the fiberglass roof replaced. Might have to start a channel and build it up. Love what you do and glad I found your channel.
The more you dug in to it, the more I was shaking my head. This is definitely a labor of love and will not be easy. Oh, and nice save on the rear window glass, I thought that was a gonner.
I was gritting my teeth like "oh shit that's a rare piece of glass dude, you better not drop it" on every piece lol
I do believe Paul can consider himself an artist when he finishes this masterpiece.
It is flat glass, easy to replace! Yeah I know, it would not be original but lets just swap the VIN on to a donor body and call it done. Just kidding, don't het you panties in a knot. LOL I think it is a cool project! Ed will be blown away and there will be endless pizza supply to the shop.
Wow! This is an ambitious project. I do guitar repair, and sometimes a client wants a destroyed instrument fixed. Trouble is that the repair can cost four times the replacement. So it is an emotional repair. Like this one.
- "Eds not getting any younger"... same for all of us. Great series on the Suzuki recovery!
Michelle you are an amazing woman, great sense of humor. Thank you guys for being real people.
glad its going to look stock when you are done . would be good to stage a stuck jeep that ed has to rescue to hand it back to him
This.
This HUGE amount of friedship to Ed makes me feel emotionally! Yuo guys really have big hearts!
This is sooo great to be doing this for Ed! To where he can drive it easily with an auto transmission.
I never understand, the complaints that are mocked . It’s always some reason why I enjoy the channel. Y’all are great .
It's because some people have miserable lives and try to bring that negativity here, but were not having it! You guys and the channel fans are awesome! I think Ed will be blown away by this build!🚙
Another thing I’ll never understand is, how people behave in the comments.
In real life you wouldn’t add some kinda side remarks to what polite thing another person said. That’s being rude an shows how disrespectful a person is. But it’s ok on you tubes , because it’s not real life though.
Man, I am happy that I can enjoy this from my chair at home. If I had to restore that car, i would be as old as Ed before it would be finished.
Looking forward to following the journey!
I wonder if Paul is thinking “how did Matt talk me into this” every time is stops and stairs at the Golden Rusty Can. 😎
Glad you guys found a donor, that body is....rough. Seems the Fab Rats Network is already pretty formidable. The story behind this little rig and the recovery, and the incredible guy that owns it add up to a very special machine, and the effort to restore/rebuild it is a work of love performed by friends who want to make a guy they hold dear happy.
For pure motivation, this is special. I doubt Ed ever dreamed of seeing his little LJ on the road again, but it is gonna be much better than just "on the road".
A parts vehicle YAY! I'm so excited for this build and for Ed. But after watching the tear down I knew a parts vehicle was essential. I also knew your viewers would come through. I can't wait for the next episode!
The Golden nugget and the FJ45 are my favorites. I have owned 5 FJ40, drove one round trip to Alaska and presently have a 1966 and 68 sitting in my shop. Shop work is on hold as I am building my house and at 81 years old I am not as fast as I used tobe. You and Matt have great videos.
Have you guys just considered getting a Delorean, building it into a time machine and then using it to go back 47 years and telling Ed not to leave it there because a rock slide would block it in? That might be easier.
It's real hard to find a good used flux capacitor these days!
@@desertfox3860 maybe Paul could design and build one.
Maybe Paul can fall on his head and draw a diagram 😉
Ed " We'll get it done!"
Curious how would Ed give a weather report as a bobblehead? " We'll things are kinda shaky but we'll get it done."
Awww gee I'm just nodding off guys. Bushyboy Oz
Paul, I absolutely loved this episode! I'm proud you involve the kids, and Michelle, that is truly something they can remember and be proud of! Proud your Son knows what he does so far about cars, Daughters, too! I'm ecstatic that a good donor vehicle was located! I am anxious to continue following this series!
My Sunday has started. Thank you, Paul!
I just love watching each and every episode you guys put out. I learn so much watching Paul and listening to the ‘name that part’, it’s brilliant. Michelle, you just keep doing everything that your doing, because you are awesome. Love you all, be good, stay safe.
I am enthralled. Not a car enthusiast but still glued to the video. I can’t wait to see Ed’s face.
I’m glad you got a parts vehicle. Actually Ed’s will be for parts (VIN tag and Suzuki badge only).
I'm kinda wondering this too. There's so little that's usable on that body, 30% if that? Swap the frame under the donor body.
This is going to be so much more than Ed expected. You know, if Ed is going to take this on prospecting trips maybe a 110v power inverter and a fancy powered ice chest might be helpful. I know I'd want one. Great job so far guys !
Paul. You inspire me to get my stuff done. Been retired for almost 3 yrs. and kinda stuck in a rut. Thanks to you and all you do,and all your talents, most of all the guts to just tear into things. We'll get er done. Thanks and god bless all of you. KC
The amount of gratification once this is delivered to Ed will wipe all the blood, sweat, and frustration away. You guys along with Matt are doing something that really needs to be done more often in this day and age and that's being a generous human being and have something to be proud of. This entire team is amazing and the body guy is friggen awesome!
Plus the UA-cam views generated revenue from project will probably make both parties some good money. A win win.
Stock look restomod. If this was my project, I would do exactly the same. Cant wait to watch the progress. Ed will be SPEECHLESS. Just suggestion....have him be sitting down during the reveal. Safety first! I hope Matt does an LJ20 model 'hotwheels' car to raise more money for the Hurricane Valley Pantry. Oh, those would SELL!
Wonder if he could get a before made and an after. Before goes toward helping costs and after one for food pantry id buy both. But dunno if any toy makers would do a custom with ply door lj20 lol
I am excited to see the next video when you start building it with the new stuff for Ed.
I feel that we are like a family on here with you guys and Matt's off road recovery we all work together.
I am looking forward to seeing Ed's reaction when it is done he definitely deserves it.
He is like a father figure when it comes to you guys.
I love his stories
I got an idea I think Ed needs a working 8-track and some tapes with this favorite vintage music on it
Would gladly donate tapes if someone else comes up with a working car player, unless Paul wants to wire in a home 8-track player with recording capability that's just slightly smaller than a double deck cassette unit. I meann, the passenger doesn't really need knee or leg room, right? LOL ;-)
Awesome video… my favorite part was your son riding that jack down to the floor… saying ooooooo… thanks guys…
"Name that Part" was such a wholesome moment, lol. I loved it.
So, when it's all done, have Matt bring Ed to "recover it" , Ed sits in to drive it out...and it's his? With the entire crew there!
Guy's this Suzuki build for Ed is one of the best series on UA-cam, excellent progress keep going. Alex.
Wow can't believe this is number 3 on trending!!! Actually I can seeing as how I just watched you guys recover it for the sierra Nevada mountains. Amazing teamwork and Ed really deserves this for sure
Those quiet moments where Paul just stares...seems to be thinking "If this weren't Ed's....."
My current favorite series to watch, and yes that includes all Matt's videos AND the YOTA build. Can't wait to see Ed's face when he gets it. 😃
paul you can fix it, no problem you got this. you do great work, keep it up.
I think this is such an amazing thing to do for Ed… love both yours and Matt’s channels… 👍🏻
That is Soooo awesome that someone found parts for Mr . Ed's Suzuki this is gonna bring tears to his eyes when he See's what you all have done with the blood sweat and tears you have put into making this a reality and not just a dream . Good work Paul you guys rock hit the easy button one more time ..
Probably one of your smartest moves, regarding your YT channel, going with Matt to refurbish Ed’s Suzuki. Like Happy Days was to Laverne & Shirley, and to Mork & Mindy, Fab Rats is benefiting from partnering up with Matt’s Offroad Recovery. Smart move.
Sitting here at one of the remoter corners of the world, I am watching this project with awe. I am a fan of the Suzuki small vehicles, having owned a string of the 800cc vans and a couple of friends owning the 4WD mini-"jeeps". (I had the honour of cutting up the panels of one to fit stereo speakers when the vehicle had less than 500 miles on it.)
I am impressed that someone from the land of the hopped-up V8 lifted 4WDs would consider this little bucket worth the effort. It shows that Ed has gained your respect and you are doing something for him.
Good on you. I am looking forward to future episodes.
I like to drive and mileage helps me do that so im a fan of 6 cylinders, seams every time i go buy another vehicle with 6 cylinders everyone asks when im gonna put a bigblock in. The answer is never. I have my 81 ram sitting out back waithing for the right vehicle to put the drivetrain in because it can carry a full size pickup at over 25 mpg.
Anyway i enjoy builds that are more than just seeing how much power can be stuffed under the hood.
You two are the best, I cant wait to see Ed when this buggy is complete, you will be Blessed for your efforts!!
This is the coolest automotive series I have ever seen on youtube! Please pump the videos out! I want an LJ20 now...
That news on the parts car had me fist pumping! This is the car build we all want to see!
I think it might just be better than Matt's Morrvair build. Just because it's Ed's. 😃
You guys rock! I enjoy the interaction between you all. In a world that is crazy it's refreshing to be entertained with a real family . Can't wait to see the finished product and Ed's reaction. Thank you.
You folks are amazing. The Ed bobble head looks exactly like him! I had hopes that Paul's "easy" button on the cowl was gonna work, but sadly, no. Also, Grayden did a great job! I think this gift between everyone for Ed is just about one of the nicest, most decent things I've ever seen a group of friends do. Bravo! As I said, you folks (Fab Rats/Matt's Offroad)...are amazing!
I Woke up “early” because of the time change and wanted to go back to bed. But I saw a UA-cam notification that a new video was up! There goes sleeping in. 😂🤣

Glad to see it has a radiator cap, everything else needs replaced! Sure fun watching these videos especially this project for Ed
Shocked Paul didn't attach the hoist to it and lift it , cause that would have been hilarious ! 🤣🤣
We all know or have known an Ed in our lives. Many pass away before we get to do something cool like this for them ! Gods speed fab rats.
This is the coolest thing and has even further cemented fab rats in my favorites list. Ed is going to be super, super happy.
You so correct I just like the relaxed expertise of a man that knows his trade AND has the ability to say "I screwed up"
The wife and I just recently stumbled upon your channel. Love it! We saw an episode where you read comments from some viewers. Some of them were awful snarky, for no reason. If we're in a bad mood and we watch an episode of your show, it puts in in a good mood. You all are so bubbly and in good spirits, it's a pleasure to watch.

Paul, really get inspired to try new things by watching your videos. Had a leaking hydraulic cylinder on my hobby tractor and rather than take it in, I bought a seal kit and fixed it myself. Even had to make a tool to get the nut off the shaft. Would not have had the courage to try something like that without people like you showing us that we can do it and not worry about making a mistake. Its all a chance to learn and have fun. Thanks. I follow all the guys involved in this build, I find it amazing how far and how much detail everyone is taking, I can`t wait to see Ed`s face on this reveal, he will be so happy and I think a little emotional, in the UK we have a Tv show called DIY SOS where they help people in need with home builds, life changing help, and very few watch that without getting emotional, I feel this is an automotive version of that, we also have Car SOS for anyone interested, which is similar to this build for Ed.
Never commented before but your wife's laugh makes all of this better. It's real and fun. Appreciate your videos!
I've rebuild a couple of land rovers for military friends while they have been deployed. I miss doing it. Its so much easier building stuff for other people, you make a plan and just do it. When you do your own vehicles you continually change your mind.
I've never done that type of project but somehow I can relate. 😅
Wow guys #4 on trending last night, and #5 right now, that’s so awesome! It looks like UA-cam & the algorithm gods are shining their light on your channel, and it looks like this Golden Nugget build is extremely popular too. I’m so glad to see a great channel like yours getting some deserved attention, you guys are great and deserve it. The cost of replacing the broken screwdriver bits is more than the value of the the car in its current condition haha.

In keeping with the spirit of Ed's repairs all those years ago, you should considre making this "wagon" a woody. Love you guys for making Ed happy.
Ed’s thinking “whatever knuckle heads, just make sure the ashtray and lighter work”
You can see one of the reasons why this appeals to people when you think about those typical "car restoration' shows airing on TV: Packaged in such a way with false drama and creative editing to make a month's work look like it occurred in a day. Paul shows the reality of restoring and fixing things. It can be a time-suck of unplanned event after unplanned event where every bit of 'restoration' is well earned. Anyway, keep up the great work.
Lovely to see ed get some love, what a great project
I still be lifting myself on my Jack and letting myself down slow. That’s hilarious. I’m 26 and can relate 100% 🤣
My daughter saw me a few months ago lifting myself on my jack and letting myself down, and still laughs at me. I'm 57.
I use to be part of a group of Land Rover restoration enthusiasts. There was always a friendly rivalry with the Suzuki restoration enthusiasts. If I remember correctly, the LandRover guys called this one ' The Suzuki Sardine Can' because of the metal it was made of (peel it open like a sardine can), its size, and It's motor being seen as so primitive it could have run on the oil drained from the sardines.
The team work on Ed's Suzuki is amazing!
