This is why we canceled cable. Real people, amazing stories, and genuine relationships are all around us. Bravo, team! Thanks for sharing this experience with us!
Very well said!
So true
I haven't had cable for 2 years now. Don't even miss it!
totally agree! There is great real content out there by awesome people.
Same here!
The amount of love for Ed is immeasurable. 100%
I can just picture ed driving that tiny thing 40 years ago.
*U Boat treatment got the left front wheel turning. Take the headliner out of the Suzuki to complete the Jeep.*
A couple of weekends work and she’ll good as new😂. I never knew these things existed.
@@1nvisible1
The engine locked up didn't matter, it was the wheels that needed to turn over. Just needed a little encouragement for that last wheel.
You are SOOO right!
Matt you are a natural leader. I worked as a utility lineman for 48 years in crews . Your humor and calmness gives your crew motivation, good job!
No fraternity better than line work! Thanks for what you did brother, my brother is a local 47 JL here in CA 🤙🏼
Yes thank you for what you did. Ppl don’t realize how important linemen are
Thanks for going to the trouble of showing how you cleaned up the books and took good care of Lizzie! Y'all are great!
I love that this is a legit reality show on UA-cam that doesn’t have all the drama that TV reality has. It just goes to show that people can be nice to each other and still get viewers. Your channel will continue to grow!
Not a show... This is actually their life. It is truly a beautiful thing!
@@stevedeornellis8657 I have never followed a reality show in my life. I´m kinda following these guys, because its natural. Thanks for that
@@stevedeornellis8657 almost like it's a show about the reality of their lives...
Yeah, this isn't a "scripted reality show", it's a real life show. I admire everyone of them(including Rudy and everyone left behind)! They're great people! Matt & Paul have fantastic channels. Very dedicated individuals!! Keep up the superb work!
Life is getting better
The marketing phrase "We'll get em' out", just took on a whole new meaning on this episode!!!!
EXACTLY!
I don't think many people would bet on them getting it out. Truly legendary.
New “MEMEing” ?
You are right . . . there's a lot of depth to this adventure . . .
Spoken uniquely by the one and only.
I have so much strong respect for you and your entire crew. Is there nothing you can’t do? And your individual sense of humor gets you through it all!!
This came up in my feed 2 years back and that's how i found this channel, and The Fabrats, Robbie Layton and a whole bunch of entertainment. Watching again because it's worth it.
I dont know what you pay that young woman, but it isnt enough.
You all are blessed. This is the kind of family and friends many wished they had.
They pay Lizzie in back seat naps. 😂🤣
Got to admire Lizzy's attitude, just crack on.
Not to mention the one-handed camera catch in the middle of the river
That was absolutely incredible to watch! I really felt for Lizzie when she went into the water. It just looked cold.
It is very cold water.
its really cool that it wasnt very rotten in comparison to a car in a salt water lake. its actually really cool that a project like this is being shown.
Ed finally completes his long con of befriending an off road recovery specialist to retrieve and unretrievable vehicle lost 40 years ago.
Ha, I was thinking the same thing 😂🤣
“I’ll get it out someday” lmfao
Ed had it planned the whole time
I respect his dedication to the con, byproducts was a life long friendship.
Hilarious! Ed’s 40 year long con.

Operation Golden Nugget: The Movie
After a season of gold mining, Ed didn’t know he’d be walking away from his Suzuki LJ20 for over 40 years. Trapped behind a landslide on a forgotten road deep within the Sierra Nevada mountains, the little golden Suzuki rests nestled between the trees. It waits through the seasons for a friendship to form that can defy all odds. A friendship that can challenge the mountain.
Now the seasoned adventurer along with his team of friends venture into the Sierra Nevada mountains for the off road recovery of a lifetime. Sealing a friendship that will outlast time itself.
“Sealing a friendship that will outlast time itself*.”

I wanna hear the story of how in the hell he got it there in the first place!
They picked it up and carried it in there
@@Zenith_V Explicate.
@JcDaniel
Strapped it to their backs did they? Some people are ironically naive.
Hell, back in Ed's day they used to do these trails with ox drawn wagons and skinny wooden tires. So many of them, that they wore ruts into the rock. There weren't no 'recovery' folk then, neither... just Indians looking for scalps and bears looking for food.
Haha how the hell did he even get down there
I just discovered this channel yesterday and I am loving it so much! So glad that Ed was able to get his Suzuki LJ20 back.
I'm 79, and why am I crying? I feel so very happy for Ed. This is the most touching video Matt has made
I am 71 and I feel the same way
@@harleyterry98 I’m 75, bed bound with Multiple Sclerosis… but who cares when we’ve got Matt’s people to watch and ‘Go For It Lizzy’ turning it into a wet tee-shirt contest! Sorry, Lizzy, you’re the bravest of the lot!
Absolutely. I love those old school cars. I'm 39 and own old school car. That recovery made me emotional...
@@TheTubeTube2 I'm so glad this channel brings you a smile I'm 74 and just love this crew - wishing you wellness.
Yes! Matt, Paul their families and friends have what we know in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands as “the Frontier Spirit” - to us this means an urge to help people, to study others rather than to dwell on yourself. This outlook on life is usually found in mountainous and tough areas. These souls tend to be happy!@@coconut199
I would like to thank you Matt. You saved my life today. I was at a gas station when a guy pulls up behind me. As he gets out of his truck, he sees my Matt’s Off Road sticker on my back window. We started talking about this episode. As we talked, we shared our stories and our struggles. I was ready to give up on life. We talked, hugged, cried and prayed. This was my reset on my want to live. So thank you again Matt.
Keep you head up I've been there buddy
I, for one, am extremely glad you're still with us. I've been that low and had made an attempt in the past.
Much love from a Canadian that's been to the end of the same road before ❤️
Hey there, I don't know you, but I'm sending prayers your way. Stay strong.
keep on going on, my friend! the sun will come out again for you! greetz from germany...we all love Matt's videos
The old saying goes, Saying something nice to a complete stranger can make their day, Or change their life !!.... Pay it Forward my friend !!. Your not alone on that Dark Road !! There are LOTS OF PEOPLE ON THAT DARK ROAD !!. I've been there myself !! . And like you, It took something as simple as a Kind Word from a Stranger to change my life FOR THE BETTER !!. I've also learned this, Why have Enemies when you can have friends !!. We must ALL LEARN TO FORGIVE !!. Everyone deserves a SECOND CHANCE !!. Now take this "2nd Chance" and go Change someone else's life !!. Thanks for having the courage to tell us about your personal life. .
I like how they started out being very careful not to hurt the Suzuki, but eventually resigned to pulling it through hell like a sack of manure.
I've watched these episodes a few times and I see morr😁 each time. The best is the end (end shot) where you all are smiling. You all feel like family, thanks 😊.
Lizzie has to be the 2nd most dedicated person to Matt's Offroad Recovery, right behind Matt!
I think on some days, she's definitely #1.
One of the most hotly anticipated sequels on UA-cam
Seriously now chaps, chappatties, just how many proposals of marriage do you think Lizzy has had since she set out on that twig… and without a parachute!
Using a helicopter would probably be cheaper and easier, but it’s more entertaining to watch the challenge when using a big off-road truck to drag out the old Suzuki from the ravine.
Great hard working team!
It wouldn't it might take over and hour and life helicopters are 5-10k per hour or so.
@@Wingnut353 Besides... gotta do this the American way! 😜
Seriously... How did he even get that thing back there? I'm actually impressed.
When you realize they took it out on the back route, because the way he came in would have been too easy for a video.
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Watch the early videos in a series. The car slid down there in a rock slide, this was the most direct path back to the road it came in on
40 years ago, there was drivable roads in that forest. Ed let the car in there and when he came back 1 year later, the rocks fell on the roads and the car was stranded. The rest i presume was the earth moving with water and all during the 40 years after.
I guess this proves once again that friendship cannot be measured in money. I salute you all, this was just fantastic to watch.
But you all are still CRAZY !! Just kiddin'
This continues to be one of the most amazing adventures with this crew!
How are they going to top this video series? Watching people getting yanked out of Utah sand traps just won't be the same.
Could not agree more (MOR) !
I honestly never believed they'd get that rusty old Suzuki out of there in one piece! What an adventure, the best yet!
You must really love and care for Ed. He is blessed. I wish I knew the story, the history of your relationship with him.
Matt, your jeep is really a tough one. Great team work among your guys. Really keen to see how the restoration on ED’s vehicle goes.
Love Paul’s positive attitude! “Doing fine” and “everything’s ok”. The eternal optimist! Makes the work so much more fun
And Eric sure is, uh, ‘risk averse’ 😂
What a great crew.
I was noticing the same thing. The expression on his face the entire time was like "My life is now complete". What great people!
My girl Lizzy better get a bonus for her actions in this one! That girl never complains. She just gets the job done!!!
At least they dont show her complaining in the videos 😁
They don’t just give away those rodeo championship belt buckles. Lizzy is a beast.
It's his daughter she don't need no raise. More welding skills she can use. Make her own cash 💸
@@brockcaron2566 ah its definitely not his daughter

Appreciate the video. Very cool to everyone involved. My '85 Blazer I got stuck in Deckers, CO had to stay over the Winter in 97. Had a nice little blizzard in Colorado that year. Took my buddies '81 Toyota and a '95 Cherokee both had wenches a few days to roll it back over. .Nothing like what you guys have. Honesty, one of my favorite moments growing up in the Rockies. Lots of work. Camped, grilled, crawled around for a few days. Great times. Keep the vid coming
I'm a slow learner but I finally get it. It's not about making money but the love and adventure of the hunt!
This is the most epic off-road recovery I have ever seen ! ! ! From the highest peaks to the deepest creeks, Jeep in 4-low, S.S. Golden Nugget swimming below. Jaws a dropping . . . . Taillight a popping. No distance too far, whether it's a truck or a car. HELLUVA JOB BOYS . . . . HELLUVA JOB ! !
Awesome bars you dropping right there man!🤓👍🏼
Even though it was a little fun, you guys went beyond all to do something special for Ed. Lizzie just does what needs to be done and is an extra special person.
I am just watching this again. I watching it at the time. After seeing it all rebuilt, you forget how bad she was! AMAZING WORK TO MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE
So entertaining, my off roading mates and I have over the years gotten into some serious comical antics, yet this had me smiling from start to finish. I have to say Lizzie is a legend, that lady has some major awesomeness.
Practically peed my pants laughing at Eric and Trevor at the "service" for the poor sunken thing...
Me too!!!!! Best moment ahead of lizzie swimming
Too funny lol. Love the dynamic those two have.
Yeah Trevor is a natural comedian. His timing is perfect.
Outrageously funny! I was LMAO!
This recovery will never be topped. Can't wait to see the nugget restored.
I love Lizzie attitude, I really hope you guys treat her respectfully it’s not easy being a women in the trades
I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the series and collaborations on Ed's LJ20 and his Rokon. You're a great bunch of guys and gals... Oh to be part of something like this for such a nice man!
Once again, Lizzie continues to prove how much of an absolute champion she is. No way I'd have caught that camera.

@@noleftturnunstoned Well I for one have recovered and screwed up also. It happens. Guess we are not perfect like some are.
I enjoy this channel more than television itself.
Going back re-watching old vids..... the dip in the river was probably smart, though with the amount of rat poop swept off in the creek, probably had an algae bloom downstream somewhere that year! What a trip. Can't wait for this year's trip to search for Ed's mine.
Who else knew that Lizzie was going to be taking a bath once they saw the bridge she made?
And that she was the only one committed enough to do it, the others to scared to be a little wet!
Lizzie is unstoppable, she knew she was going in, way before it was obvious to us. ❤️🇷🇴🇬🇧
There just wasn't any way to get there without an almost certain bath. I'm super impressed about her still functioning and still thinking clearly after a cold plunge like that. Anybody who has done it knows it takes a heavy toll.
I couldn't decide whether to be more impressed with Lizzie's fortitude or more worried about hypothermia.

I stumbled onto this group about an hour ago. Usually I would have passed it by, BUT there is no doubt that this has been one of the most enjoyable selection of postings I have come upon. You all must be good friends to go through DAYS of this.. BTW that Suzuki J is now the most expensive Suzuki J in history. I’m sure. Good Luck … I’m gonna post more comments later on.
Lizzie is a legend. Love her enthusiasm and attitude. And this crew did a great job getting that little LJ20 out given the circumstances. The material I'm seeing about these Hobo Freight winches is steering me towards them. I need something big on the front of my Dodge, and that Warn 16.5TI is not cheap.
Mile marker makes a big winch 17k I think for $900. I have done a lot with mine on my Dodge 2500. Happy with it.

Yup, I second that!
I just love how people will go out of there way to help a friend do something for free, by doing something you could never pay them enough to do.
Very well expressed!!
That's just good people for you. I've had my truck stuck 15 times and another three trucks stuck who knows how many times trying to rescue a Toyota up a closed mountain road in the winter (don't ask) and we didn't even get him out that day. Also took my flatbed up an open mountain road in the middle of winter to rescue a Subaru Brat that found a ditch and tore one side of the front suspension out. I did get that one out. Sometimes it takes a lot to help people, but for the most part it's worth it. I do leave some people in the ditch every now and then though. They've had a chance at a free pull but ruined it because they're ungrateful assholes that deserve a $1000+ tow bill for something I would have accomplished for free in three minutes.
Great Job.....that was'nt a "Recovery",....that was a "Labor of Love"..!!!
This was peak MORR with the crew. Almost everyone that made the modern channel is here in the craziest scenario.
