I have a friend who is a devout Catholic and I'm trying to encourage him to live a little and I told them that he reminds me of the people in this film who are so black and white that they don't even live.
Wow, there s so much more to this movie than meets the eye on first viewing. This movie is so relevant to today's politics and division. Also has some religious symbolism, the forbidden fruit, the burning bush. Racism turned on its head with colored vs black and white. Book burnings, rioting in the streets, vandalism, censorship and more. Making the town great again! Keeping woman in their place in the kitchen and taking care of the husband. Holy cow! I love this movie. This was made in 1998 but foretells a lot. Compare the large artwork of Bud's mother in the picture window in the movie to the one in the trailer...the trailer version is censored for the easily offended by a carefully placed pillow and cloth!
Paul Walker played an air head jock and was a minor character in Pleasantville so he didn't appear in the trailer. Based on IMDB movie ratings, Pleasantville was the most highly rated movie he appeared in during his short movie career. Tragic loss.
While this is an awful trailer, it actually represents the film quite well... In fact that's the problem. This trailer is about 2 minutes too long. Gives away too much. However, the movie is about 2 kids who go into a TV show in the blackandwhite 50s/60s. They disrupt they norm, thus bringing color into this society stuck in old ways.
I've been looking for this trailer for years! So glad to have found it!
R.I.P. Paul Walker J.T. Walsh and Don Knotts
If you've finished watching this trailer, you don't need to see the film.

Actually, I think the music is from the sequel.
Bud Parker? Clever foreshadowing.

This is an awful trailer. It really misrepresents the film.
I was wondering about that. This seems like a pretty decent concept. Just heard about this movie.

long trailers were common for movies back then. Especially on VHS, there would be some trailer previews.
Beautifully done and executed movie trailer. I loved it.
