They should make a movie with today's teens zapping into 90s teen movie.
Patrick Lange didn’t they do that on Disney
BOSS MAN123 yep it’s called teen beach movie
funny boi gaming and more yea that thing I remember because my cousin watched it
funny boi gaming and more that movie was set in the 60s not 90s
@@BOSSMAN-xz3hw bro that wasn't in the 90s
Just came here after seeing Wanda Vision ... It's so crazy that Pleasantville could still have a strong influence on modern day cinema after all these years
It's weird how underrated Pleasantville is. It's so underrated it isn't even on the list of underrated movies from the 90s when I google it.
My thoughts exactly! When I saw WandaVision, I kept thinking it reminded me of this!
Wanda vision
This is wanavision/fullhouse . I am glad that I'm not the only one suspect this. There a couple of scene from wanavision made it look like the original fullhouse. She was jealous of the olsen twins as being left out from show biz, The olsen twins wanted nothing do with their siblings to join them in show biz, Even within their own movie line up. Hint the movie "brother for sale"?
In the next Doctor Strange, Tobey will put some dirt in Wanda's eye.
Fun fact: The director of this movie went on to direct the first Hunger Games movie.
goreycinema no kid??
What? How? Why?
Fun fact his son was a mass shooter
@@DMAGAEscober 😐
He directed a lot of great movies like Big.
This movie is actually underrated. It's not for everyone, but is a perfect movie to watch on a bored, quiet night when there's nothing else to watch.
You're not really selling it but ok
Yea lol, “when there’s nothing else to watch” isn’t very convincing lmao
Haha you should make trailers yourself nobody would ever visit the cinemas again. Hilarious. Underrated!! It is now....
lol you summed it quite nicely tbh, that's exactly the vibe this film gives off.
I watched this yesterday in HD I honestly thought it was amazing. Stunning cinematography really well scripted with good flow it's on par with Joe dantes, matinee. Like you say not for everybody but definitely for me I'd watch it again tomorrow. I think your terrible review lowered my expectations so I enjoyed it even more. I think the creativity in this film is sublime its not a good film its a great film.
I miss Tobey Maguire! I hear he’s just been producing movies but I never seen him on screen in a long time.
You may be seeing him again very soon fingers crossed!
I don’t think he’ll ever get back into acting

The website for the movie was equally as creative. The site was completely in black and white, and as you clicked through various pages, elements gradually switched to color. Will always be one of my favorite movies.
what's the website? can you send a link please :) I'm very curious
Wow so cool! I miss when movies had websites. I remember the websitw of Donnie Darko was also amazing. The whole website was the Roberta Sparrow book that appears in the movie and the rules of time travel.
“We’re supposed to be in school”
“We’re supposed to be in colour!?”
"I missed the part where that's my problem."
"Gonna cry?"
"I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye."
"You want forgiveness? Get religion."
"Fix this damn door!"
Why does this look so good and why is not a popular classic? Or have I just been living in a cave my entire life
its underrated, i was 7 when it came out so not sure if it was a big movie in box office
@@MichaelDavis-mh8bb I couldn't have said it better 💕
It’s a movie that came and went quietly. I saw it when it first came out and thought it was good. I saw it again many years later and liked it more. It may have just been bad timing and that’s why it’s not more well known.
It has a tiny cult following. I’m not sure why it isn’t bigger.
The first 10 minutes make me sob due to the accuracy of the economic climate predictions.
The satirical view of the past is so poignant.
Put Reese, Tobey, mom from
Malcom in the Milddle, as a 90s sitcom and many today kids would dream of living in them.
It’s all cyclical.
It did well and got good reviews. Used to be on cable a lot. But all in all artsy movies are just in their own category.
I still love how 90's this movie feels.
R.I.P Paul Walker. This guy didn't mention Paul Walker in the credit. You can tell easily by his voice. His voice never change.
Anyone watching Wandavision referencing this movie?
Me!!!!!! Yabadaba dooooo 🙋🏽♂️
This film is brilliantly made in a way where anyone can watch it. It shows history in a different light, and tenderly gives a kind hearted meaning with compassion and nobody dies in this movie. The now belated Don Knott's in a very funny performance as well. Much can be learned about acceptance through this movie and the artistic talent that went into this movie is just overly amazing. Thank you for making this movie. Everyone should see it and be shown again in movie theatres. It wasn't well known when it first came out. Thank you for posting.
1950: "Honey I'm home :)"
2016: "Bitch where you at!!!?"
Our generation today , that's sad
+Daniel Bautista imagine 2017
The 'Where's my dinner?' part made me laugh while everyone who was experiencing rain with Bud reminded me of Peridot understanding rain for the first time.
2017: Wanna get some take out? Chipotle or Panda Express?
Y8R 1950: "My wife didn't have dinner prepared when I arrived home today, so I beat her."
When they painted on the brick wall and just sat there it brought me to tears. Such a beautiful movie and beautiful message❤️
what’s the message?
Yeah, a random scene caught me too

I didn't know Tobey Maguire *(Our favorite Spiderman actor)* was in this movie that he kinda fade away from me until I had to finally realize it.
Who is "our"? He was horrible and is a horrible actor in general.
Lisette Garcia haha!! Aww yeah!! B4 Peter Parker the Spiderman, he was in these kinda movies!! Awww, Tom Holland ain't all that bad as Spidey!!😁😁
I like tobey maguire as spiderman , he was the first
Peter Parker literally fades away in infinity war
@@AndroidVageta1 I know you're trolling and looking to trigger someone. Everyone will catch that fact.
Such an underrated movie!! It’s so good!! It’s one of my absolute favorite movies from my childhood
I saw a few months ago and loved it
I will always see Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man
It's funny how he's dressed like the original Peter Parker in the comics in this movie.
And his name here is Bud Parker haha
Because he is always Spiderman
I will always see William H Macy as frank Gallagher
@@bradi9326I also heard that one of these girls in the movie was called Mary Jane.
OMG TOBEY AND REESE? Spider Man & Legally Blonde? Yessssss legends 😍🙌😍
And also Fast and Furious :-D
This movie will be 25 years old! And still one of the best films ever made. 1:48 just the way the movie voice says “New Line Cinema presents”.
Just saw this movie on Netflix. It was beautiful. :,)
I saw this movie in class and I broke into tears when Tobey Maguire's character Bud made a great speech of how people shouldn't be grayed out.
I saw it many years ago and I still am taken in by it. So many good scenes and lines. The "loss of innocence" metaphor is fantastic.
I looked it up on Netflix and I couldn't find it :( they took it off I believe
Does it mean no one has the concept of color in that universe? Well, obviously things are colored, they just show up black and white. But think how different things would be if we were a colorblind species. People might care what shade their house is, but not what color and there'd be no point in trying to invent a color television in that day and age.
its a very disgusting movie.
if experiencing love makes you have colours in this world, I'll be the only grey one.
Actually it's more emotions that cause color.
It was actually people changing their old thinking patterns and behaviors that caused them to colorize. Here are some examples from the film. The mother colorized when she took time out for herself in her warm bath. Our lead actor changed when he chose to fight instead of chickening out of a challenge. His sister changed when she became serious instead of going out to party and fool around. The mayor became angry and colorized instead of his cool-headed self. It's a very in-depth film when you put some themes up to analysis, and one of my personal favorites.
damn you emo ass fuck
Sending love your way
la petit belle Me too mate. It's why this movie makes me happy and sad at the same time.
The Truman Show came out the same year
When I watched this movie I thought of the same thing. You think there’s a deeper meaning ?
2 of my favourite movies!
I literally remembered the Truman show while watching this movie!
No Way Home isn’t the first time Tobey was sucked into another universe
This is a classic.. it’s a unique concept done very well.
My favorite movie ever and I’m not even ashamed. Always makes me smile in awe of the character arcs and climax
Are you referencing the bathtub scene? 😉
The iconic: *Honey I’m home!*
This movie for me tackles, races, standards, and stereotypes. It was nice to see it all mixed together in one mobie with a one flow ❤️
How's your English grammar and punctuation coming along these last few years? Improved at all?
Wow Peter Parker and Elle Woods are in the same movie, that’s iconic 🤩
and Brian O'Conner
And Frank Gallagher
You idiots forgot paul walker hes bigger than all of them combined in the most famous highest grossing movie series on earth 🤦♂️
And Harry Dunn
And they are siblings
I thought I was crazy when I was thinking about this movie! Thank goodness I wasn't. I remember seeing this movie one time and that was it!
Suffer No Fools 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
This movie is brilliant. Concept alone is a 10/10. Add in some incredible acting and wow
Tobey after being transported to pleasantvile
“ I’m gonna put some colors in your eye”
I find this movie pleasantly written with intelligence. The allegories beneath the skin tone of the film are crafted with enough wisdom without being too heavy to the point of losing its message or its entertainment value.🤔😊
1:32 that score 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Laura Love Its called Mural. Look up Randy Newman “Mural”
I almost teared up 💧💧
This movie is so underrated! I loved it growing up
When the trailer started, it looked like a cheesy 90s comedy, but I was still going to give it a chance. When it got to 1:20-1:31, I realized “Hmm. This actually seemed interesting. But 1:32-2:08, I was like “Wow”. I was speechless. The music really got me. I knew this was a movie I had to see. I realized it wasn’t just a comedy. It was going to be serious stuff.
This has become one of my all time favorite movies. I would be amazed if this somehow becomes a Broadway musical.
One of the few movies that has a flawless cast
So true! Excellent casting in this movie 👏
From giver to pleasantville to WandaVision
This trailer is so good, it tells us the ENTIRE MOVIE
A) Come up with an original comment.
B) It doesn’t.
one of my all time favorite movies
Ever since I saw this movie my answer to everything problem in life has been “well we’re safe for now, thank goodness we’re in a bowling alley.”
One of my all-time faves. I love love love this movie!
I used to think that this movie was a doc, and I thought the world used to be black and white
Me too
I remember my history teacher showing us this movie I had seen it already but I thought that was pretty cool!! Very good movie and historical
There’s nothing historical about this movie...
Handsome Devil08 you’re very stupid
Jacqualius Allen you have bad taste in music...
Jacqualius Allen and your parents should be chastised for giving you that name.
Where I live a teacher would be fired for showing a movie with this much sexual content. :V
Who's here because of WandaVision?
OMG YES AS SOON AS I STARTED WATCHING IT I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF THIS
Yes, also looked up "I love Lucy" and "I dream of genie".
Has echos. Of Truman Show about it too.
I had a busy schedule (like I think I watched maybe a couple of ten minute YT vids) and only recently had the change to binge the first five ep's of WandaVision. I then went and dug out this film. It aged like fine wine. Or good whiskey.

My favourite Tobey Maguire and Reece Witherspoon film.
This film was mentioned in an episode of Charmed by Paige.
I love this movie because it starts out like one of those generic craazzyyy weird comedy movies. But like, morphs into a pretty serious movie about racism.
Sorry bro my bad. Also in real world, Racism is a divide & conquer.
Funny how the society was perfect until the colors destroy them
I thought that part was really heavy handed lol
It does! Lol but I'd still live there, any day, rather in today's world. 1950s suburbia is go generic with simple problems compared to today!😂😂😂😂
@@jcirvine38 Thats not true at all....
Emo Peter Parker loves his sitcoms
The hair is the biggest factor
Saw this trailer and instantly had to see the movie. It became one of the best movies I've ever saw.
Who's here after Wanda Vision
Omg! One of my fave movies ever!!!! Rip Paul Walker
Peter Parker, Tracey Flick, and Jerry Lundegaard/Frank Gallagher all a 50s themed movie. Nice
Lol I was wondering if someone would notice the famous family man Frank Gallagher😂
All of the performances are pitch perfect.

0:30 Tobey getting sucked into the Westview after Wanda messes with reality...
The connections to WandaVision are uncanny!
Came here because of the WandaVision trailer. Wonder how many people would notice the nod to this movie
I did. Thats why I am here too!
I love this movie.
Great movie. Enjoyed watching it and listening to "Across The Universe" performed by FIONA APLE.
This totally reminds me of WandVision.
Except that show covered five decades, not just the fifties.
Because it ripped off from this.

Someone definitely needs to make a movie just like this, except have today’s teens be teleported back to the 90s
lol, modern kids being teleported to a world where they are just constantly berated and made fun of.
Beautiful movie about the individual freedom and how society push us to compliance. The more the protagonists are discovering that this fictive world is formated, the more they grow their awarness they are themselfs formated by the real world and the need to find they own self to become fulfilled.
A perfect example of a 90s movie trailer. And it's more than just the iconic voiceover.
RIP J. T. Walsh (September 28, 1943 - February 27, 1998), aged 54
And
RIP Paul Walker (September 12, 1973 - November 30, 2013), aged 40
You both will be remembered as legends.
Oh this movie reminds me of that other 90s movie 'blast from the past'with Brendon Fraser
The original 50 Shades of Grey.
😂
!Que película más excelente!;
la miré por casualidad y se ha vuelto de mis favoritas.
Pleasantville is a fascinating movie... and close to home these days.
Spider-Man!
I’m not gonna lie to you I watch this movie as a kid and I only recognized Toby from Spiderman so the whole time I’m watching this movie I’m thinking when is he gonna be Spiderman

I feel like rewatch this movie again it's been a long time I haven't seen it
1:50 Shawshank Redemption
A Great Film. A Horror Film more so than a Comedy, but Hilarious, Horrifying and Entertaining. A Masterpiece. 10/10
I haven't even heard of this movie, and i looked up theres so many 90s movies that i havent seen. I need to start binge watching movies from this era. I was teenage that time and i love 90s, but how i havent heard about movies like Election 1999, Empire records 1995 etc..
I'd be one of those who stays in black and white.
Gorgeous TOBEY MAGUIRE 😍❤
.. Pleasantville is the only movie where the special effects are a 1000 % beneficial to the story, this film is everything that we once was .. and would love to be again ....
Wandavision brought me here
What is so my funny about this, is that our local public Mental Health is in a Bowling Alley.
Still a good movie to watch... RIP Paul Walker
I keep seeing random movies that I had seen in my childhood but didn’t realize Paul walker was in them at the time! I saw Varsity blues the other day and saw Pleasantville today. Good memories!
I think this movie had a way deeper meaning than you would think. I mean, isn’t it great that people took different meanings from this movie and were able to express them on this comment section? Isn’t it great that we are able to discuss this movie here and now and have someone else give their opinion on yours? What I took away from this movie is, we can have the choice to do things we like / dislike, but we also have to choice to be responsible. The best of both worlds so to speak. I had to rewatch this movie again 20 years on, it really is underrated.
*OMG I didn't realise William H. Macy played this role!!* Been watching Shameless for years and always loved this movie😂
Shameless is what happened to Frank Gallagher after he changed colors. 🤣
LMAO
What if Bully McGuire enters Pleasantville?
The city would be MAD MAX in a week 😂😂😂
Really really loved this concept as movie, but even just as a movie. Amazing.
I used to watch this movie all the time when we were young. But they never play on TV anymore.I relly wish to watch it again.
I love this film, always feel amazing after watching it.

if i lived in black and white pleasantville, i think i would turn into frank gallagher too.
Sooner or after this year, this movie is going to turn 20.
I mean it couldn't be sooner
Well, yeah. I do colors. And I can do fantasies. Not mine, at the time. But my grip on reality is so strong that I see when somebody does something off character.
I think that this was also the last movie that Don Knotts was in. It's really scary that some in the US want to go back to the culture of the 1950s.
Paul Delgadillo Why is it scary?
+verycoolchicka Well no shit, Sherlock. But I find it ridiculous that people only look at the racism, and don't bother to acknowledge the good things about the past.
