Believe it or not, the level 80 boost actually got me into the game because it pretty much put me in the deep end of content, making me realize just how much the game has to offer. Its great!
Heeeey u are here .... and I just found your twitcth channels 2 days go while you played GW2 :) in 3 days geared up my 1st hero Sylvari/Engeneer. thanks for the amazing tips and answers u gave during your stream :)
People complaining about free stuff must have a pretty sad life. All they see is "level 80 boost", they go "BUT I'M ALREADY LEVEL 80, THIS IS SH'T" and don't even take a moment to either finish watching the video or go use the item themselves. You can literally choose some of the most expensive dyes - for free. You get an accountwide inventory slot that usually costs quite a lot of gems - for free. You get a whole exotic armor set - for free. You get bags - for free. But nah, keep on complaining. For the people going "THAT'S TOO EASY" - yeah, I'm pretty sure you all think that leveling characters over and over again is such an incredibly fulfulling and fun experience, huh? It's not, because the game starts at level 80 and nothing interesting but practise has ever happened before that level. Calm your pants and be glad you're getting some free items.
+Mina Fed The Unicorns ♥ The valude of the items you described as valuable does not come from the fact that you get them free. Making them free makes them cheap which is destroying contents value by adding stuff to the game, when it should be the other way around. Its like real life money. If more gets created by state / bank, its less value over the long run n_n
gozxdesastros I'm not a fan of super expensive items in games in general. Simple things like dyes should be available to everyone. It's nice to have a bunch of rare dyes here and there, but generally, they shouldn't cost more than 10-40g. And it's not like you get an endless supply of those dyes, you get to choose one with the booster, and one everytime a character celebrates their 3rd birthday - that's not a lot for most people. Some people have a really hard time getting money, so getting at least 1-3 of your most-wanted dyes is a pretty cool reward. It's not like dyes are something prestigious anyway, they don't involve a lot of work, it's just either pure RNG, farming or saving up for months, and especially pure RNG shouldn't be that expensive, in my opinion.
MisterRando I'm not a huge fan of legendaries, so that example doesn't really apply to me - simply because, before the release of GW2, I expected legendaries to be this suuuper prestigious thing that you'd have to do everything for - and that "everything", to me, doesn't include farming a ton of gold and buying all materials off the BLTC. I would see legendaries as very prestigious if you had to farm each and every item yourself, instead of farming gold. Now that'd be worth a "Awesome, you really went through a lot!". It's also the reason I haven't gotten any legendaries yet, because I don't see the point in putting so much effort into something that other people can get very very easily ( e.g. by being lucky and getting their pre dropped - generally, I don't value anything that can be achieved with luck in a game ). It's the same thing with dyes - why should I put time and effort into farming gold ( or using my real money to waste it on RNG ) if someone else was just lucky? To me, the biggest sign of prestige is the title. Most of them also involve a lot of luck, but some of them are really valuable and require skill. It's a shame there's so little emphasis on titles in GW2, but legendaries and dyes are far from being anything unique. But hey, opinions differ. I definitely get your point, people really like having their prestigious items, even though they're nothing but expensive in most cases, and just because something's expensive, doesn't mean it has much value to it. Then again, there are many people who build legendaries only for themselves, they take time, they get the stuff themselves, and they're proud of it - and that, I very much appreciate. Unfortunately, you won't see a difference between a legnedary that has been bought with Silverwastes-farmed gold and one that has been made from 0 to 100%.
+Mina Fed The Unicorns ♥ The game starts at level 80, what are you talking about? I just bought GW2 for the first time and i'm loving my experience of adventuring in this amazing world. Yes end game is a big part of the game but so is the begging of the game.
Don't really understand people's issue with this in this game. If anyone doesn't want to, they don't have to use it and since everyone is already on a level playing field in PvP (level-wise) this has no effect on people that don't want to use it. It's a complete non-issue.
+KenpoJuJitsu3 People will just complain for the sake of it. The boost doesn't give you instant completion of the personal story, or any zones, or crafting, or anything for that matter. Literally the only difference is that you get access to all zones and all skills instantly, instead of being limited to 1-2 zones at a time and a handful of skills.
this not so bad actualy. 1.since it doesn't matter what level you are in most maps because of the scaling, you don't "SKIP" content. 2. you all have 400 books of +1 lvl up anyway who of you veterans actualy level? 3. gw2 is not a 10 year old WoW were palyers want more pve time outside raids or pine for vanilla wow. 4. even without boost be it temporary or permanent its fairly quick to reach mx level. 5. and since you STILL need to get all heropoints for all trait lines anyway, you still have to do maps (works with point 1) 6. it is executed WAY better then WoWs booster: its an actual trial for a class/character you are not sure you want to commit too. while altaholics will love this FREE boost next to their 500000000 lvl up tomes, new comers can actualy try classes and then dismiss them without wasting commitment and time. however it might lack some appeal to actualy level a toon but thats the only draw back i see with this boost.
+Shroom1Up What's your opinion on the gear though? Initial thought for me is that giving the new lvl 80 rares instead of exotics would be better, because getting exotics is consistent and somewhat simple, giving a new player a feel for the gearing.
I love this, along with all of the wonderful fixes you've done to help make HoT less grindy. I didn't mind it, but I know that some people did. It's great that you're thinking of newer players while still giving your loyal fanbase some nice things as well. Thanks for this update and this video. Keep up the great work, Anet!
this is really great. Compared to wow where we have to research the class on our own this allows us to research by playing which gives a totally different opinion about the class.
Recyclex If you have all lv 80s you still get a free dye pack and a celebratory dye kit which lets you get 300g+ dyes. Idk man, this update was pretty legit.
Thank you guys so much! I had grown tired of leveling my characters through the same story, and to have this opportunity to boost a new character up to jump in the current story line was such a relief. When I saw this in the update, I was so happy. Thank you GW2 team!
A really good update! The Boost and free account slot is really nice for new player who want to dive into endgame content directly. Since i had all classes on 80, i could use it for some nice rewards.
If only there were a way of turning 80 Tomes of Knowlege into this boost item... maybe a Mystic recipe or a Miyani exchange (similar to Exchanging 20 Scrolls of XP to one Tome) because even if i have that many Tomes and can legitimatly level that way (for whatever reason) It's annoying me and eveyone in my vincinity because of 80x LvlUp SFX and the Singular LvlUp-Reward claiming (I have to click 160 buttons to clear the queue). also i could try out the class before i boost it so I don't "waste" my tomes. Also I applaude on the idea of the Trial. It's a VERY good way of letting one test a class and revert the change if necessary.
I'm really glad you made this video, GW2. You're a diamond in the rough that's learned that good instructions and explanations like these make the game that much more polished. Maybe more of these will convince my gf that this game is not a cumbersome puzzle more so than a game to be played.
I feel like Anet is trying to make GW2 a bit easier with this latest patch, increased xp earned in maguuma, 2 gold from daily meta, more dungeon tokens for daily runs, this free level 80 boost and a lot more (read the notes). I'm a veteran player, and i personally don't have any issues with this, but I can see why some others do. Every veteran player has had to work for their dungeon armor, gold stash and levels, but some of that work has been diminished by this patch. They feel cheated, because xXF2PJohny420 can now get that fancy dungeon armor within a week, whilst they may have spend months trying to get the same set. Still really cool that we are getting all this free stuff, and im curious to see where Anet is going with all these changes ^^
best idea ever. clearly that new boss guy knows what he is doing( assuming he has anything to do with the awesome update we just got, game was looking grim not too long ago)
Question if I use the boost on a brand new character and get teleported to silver waste , can I return to central taria and get exp and achievements from discovering the map and such. Also since it's lol 80 will going to back to central taria help me increase masteries of taria by leveling them up through exploration?
Great idea and nice implementation! Now new players don't have to ask around for what character to start level, they can just try them out for themself in PvE! While you could already do this in PvP, it didn't give a clear picture of how the class would feel in a PvE enviorment. Eventhough I myself have enough Scrolls of Experience and Tomes of Knowledge to make atleast 10 instant level 80s, I still really appriciate this feature, as I can atleast get a package of free stuff, including a shared inventory space! :D Lovely Spring update ArenaNet! Keep up the good work! :)
+7Leksu7 well no, actually. Trying is not alternative to asking, the biggest part of level progression is the player's learning, and asking pros is the only booster you can get here. I've been playing since September and have only 3 characters, almost all masteries - and I still yet to learn how to use half of the weapons and abilities of them.
Viktor Nikolayenko when you bought HoT did you have to make a new account because I will soon be getting it and I don't want to abandon my lvl 80 thief
Shqde I had to make new account because it was a GW2+expansion,you can search for the expansion key without GW2 plain account in allkeyshop, google it :)
+Ater Boreal That doesn't make sense lol, wow players complaining that they let you insta level up in a game most of them don't even like ? the more reasonable answer seems to be people don't liking the fact that you can skip the leveling experience like most people complained in most mmos where they let you buy a max lvl character.
.... gud sir even tho they nerfed dungeons there are fractals you can do :D, secondly true pvp is harder without elit specs and i cant blame you for feeling that way but that way they tried to buff the classes ofc the elite specs would be stronger and lastly if yourealy didnt get anything for pre ordering the base game back then i agree with you thats bad thinking by anet now if i remember correctly one of the best pvpers the first season who was on the feirst spots in the ladder was a free acount plyer right? ;)
This is the best thing ever. Thank you ANET this made my day. I will try the other classes and level one that I love the most. The extra shared slot is amazing and it will help me a lot.
I understand that some wont like this. But this actually seems better than i thought, pretty cool that you need to do a trial first. I also see why arenanet did this move.
I have been playing the free account for about 4 weeks now, after quite a bit of indecision I stuck with Ranger and got her to lvl 80, and now trying out my Ele and have her at lvl 30....but was sooo worried about what profession to use the lvl boost on, a friend said use it on a Guardian so he could help me get some armor or something that only Guardians can get...so I have been worried about that, even though after looking at a Build Editor (totally recommend for some of the newer people that can't figure out what profession...you get to build your character (not looks)) and even with him saying that Guardian is boring and very slow the thought of a Guardian is rather nice, love being able to fight and heal allies (why I love my Ele so much). So this trial makes the decision so much better, just an awesome idea from Arenanet!!!! I know it's a long shot but really hoping to get Shadow Abyss dye or Bloody dye in the dye packs lol. To all the people complaining about something that comes with the purchase of the game for free...you're an idiot...it's free..
my max level boost are disabled how to use it now?? I tried two different classes with it but both of them are not worth to waste it on them and finally i decided to use it on my new thief so again how to use it please i need help..
Hi, there was an issue that required our attention with this item during the weekend. More details on: forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Level-80-boost-item-temporarily-disabled/first#
I got a Level 80 Boost, but when I tried to use it, it said "your teleport could not be completed due to level restrictions on your destination". My elementalist only level 2.
in my thief i had 2 pistols and a short bow casue i loved it! But when i boosten to 80 it gave me daggers instead.. can i choose what weapons i get as 80? casue those items are pretty good and if i want the same quality inn pistols they are quite expensive.
how does one get this cause would be nice since i recently did a complete restart on another server and would like to at least have 1 character at 80 now.
Now if i can only get the game to install without crashing non-stop, i'll be able to check this out, as i assume this is retro-active to those who already purchased the expansion?
QUestion, so if you are a lvl 80 and use the boost, the gear you would get if you were not lvl 80, you still get these gear being lvl 80? Not sure if my question is good to be understood. But if I was lvl 10 and used it, Id get end game gear, if I am lvl 80 and use it I still get the end game gear?
Is there a way to get the boost back if you consume it for one chrarcter, and then delete the account for that character? Or are you just stuck without a boost, and have to wait to you level your character to 80 again and get back to the place where you boosted previously by leveling all the way up from 1-80?.
Silly of you to lock it inside a shared inventory slot. I got all 9 classes at lvl 80 but was forced to use it on a lvl 80 char to get the extra shared slot. Why not give us it in the male so we can store it for the next expansion or something? And when used i get spammed with bad worhtless exotic gear that i have to destroy.
Thanks for the boost ArenaNet. I've taken my warrior to level 80, but then i logged out as i have no drive to play this game. Again i appreciate the freebie but what I'm looking for is something to keep me playing, end-game goals and mechanics to work for. Farming legendary mats is not fun!
Question just looking at the level 80 boost, I see that the game would open the level 10 quest line. Would that mean. I can still do the Storyline I created before Playing the Heart of Thorns story?
You can do that in PvP though, may not be the same but it gives you an idea of how they play and enough information to make your decision on who you want to lvl.
Thanks, this is a good idea. Now you know there are going to be complainers, they'll find something. Like how instead of confirming twice to use, it should have been three times.
Need some help here I used the boost on my alt character which was a necromancer, liked the way it played in the trial so i consumed the boost. Now when i left the wastes my health and life force have dropped from 20k+ and 9k+ down to 800 and 500 Is this normal or is this a bug
Is boosting to Level 80 new player friendly? I bought the game when it first came out but never really got into it. I'm enjoying it right now and have been messing around with a few of the classes. Nothing serious yet, but I've gotten 3 classes to Level 10 so far. If I go ahead and boost a character.. Am I going to be lost? Will I have all the waypoints of the lower level zones, or will I be stuck in a higher level zone with no way out? What about cities? I haven't been to any yet. Will I be given a "tour" of L80 content, and capital cities ect..? What is the current level cap? Is level 80 a few levels lower than the cap, or is it the cap? What about dungeons Ect.. I haven't gotten access to these yet. Will I be told about them through the trial? Will I be sent directly into the current content, or will I be placed back at Shaemoor? What about crafting, and the Auction House (if there is one. Again, new player, don't know) Will that be introduced to me? Will I be taught any of this stuff, or will I just be thrown into the game with no idea of what to do? I'm coming from WoW, and they have a really good trial/boost system. If you're new you literally get a tutorial of your class. (Here are your spells, this is what they do, here's how you want to use them, and when.) And then you're given a mount, some gold, flying is unlocked, and you're put right into current content. It kind of holds your hand.. Which is great if you're new to the game.
Wow, I actually had no idea about the trial. I think that is am amazing implementation. However, the warning "for advanced players" needs to be more overt. So many new players got turned off after using it on their first character.
This was totaly unpredictable. I can't say i dislike the update i cannot, and i believe despite what people say thiswas a great thing you did. I can't wait to see What else has changed to the better.
When I try to use it, it gives me "you temporarily cannot use this item" or something similar to this, is it because I still have to download part of the game?
Hey, no that is not the reason. There was an issue with this item this weekend and we had to disable it: forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Level-80-boost-item-temporarily-disabled/first#
Believe it or not, the level 80 boost actually got me into the game because it pretty much put me in the deep end of content, making me realize just how much the game has to offer. Its great!

well you miss out on the regular LvUp rewards.
But on that regard there should be a "collect all" if you use multiple of those.
Hornswroggle
Most of the level up rewards are useless anyway, especially if you're doing a big jump to 80.

Lovely Spring update ArenaNet!
Guys, this is a super friendly consumer level 80 boost to be honest! Really nice, thank you!
Been playing F2P for a few days, just bought gw2 heart of thorns :) Amazing game, lots of things to do ^^ yey!
Viktor Nikolayenko when you bought HoT did you have to make a new account because I will soon be getting it and I don't want to abandon my lvl 80 thief
I bought a complete package with heart of thorns :)
Viktor Nikolayenko but did you have to make a new account to play or did it save your f2p data with HoT
Shqde I had to make new account because it was a GW2+expansion,you can search for the expansion key without GW2 plain account in allkeyshop, google it :)
You do realise that if you own a free to play account you can just go to account management and upgrade to the expansion?
can you get the raptor mount while in the trial? im guessing no but i still wanna ask
I hope this encourages more people to play end game content
Does this boost you sufficiently to complete your elite spec?
This is actually pretty cool, I'd probably do this for the less fun proffs to level if I didn't have everything at 80 already.
This is absolutely superb addition to the game Anet!
Yay! Some info I was looking for, thank you!
wai ppl dislike this???
+Adras Adraki Blister's wow fanboys...
+Ater Boreal That doesn't make sense lol, wow players complaining that they let you insta level up in a game most of them don't even like ? the more reasonable answer seems to be people don't liking the fact that you can skip the leveling experience like most people complained in most mmos where they let you buy a max lvl character.
***** you8 can always use it on a lvl 80 hero :D
Andre Seta Now that is a strong argument if i ever saw one lmao.
.... gud sir even tho they nerfed dungeons there are fractals you can do :D, secondly true pvp is harder without elit specs and i cant blame you for feeling that way but that way they tried to buff the classes ofc the elite specs would be stronger and lastly if yourealy didnt get anything for pre ordering the base game back then i agree with you thats bad thinking by anet now if i remember correctly one of the best pvpers the first season who was on the feirst spots in the ladder was a free acount plyer right?
Prestige experience is a stat shared by all characters?
Great video! Really needed this.
if u buy path of fire or hearth of thorns standard version will u get a character slot as well ?
Thank you, this was very helpful. I was confused when reading the pop up
CAn I just buy a character boost, without having to buy " Heart of Thorns Expansion" ? I am sure I saw it but cant find it now.
great video, as a returning player to a very different gw2 from last time i played, this helped out alot. thanks :)
Can I chose the stats on the exotic gear i get when i use the boost???
Answered all my questions about this =) thank you!
Can you use mounts with the trial??
2:14 ...wtf is the queen-bee from the Super Adventure Box doing in the Silverwastes?!
+Andreas Dorn ahahah lol ur right, perhaps new boss? XD
my max level boost are disabled
how to use it now??
I tried two different classes with it but both of them are not worth to waste it on them
and finally i decided to use it on my new thief so again
how to use it please i need help..
Hi, there was an issue that required our attention with this item during the weekend. More details on: forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Level-80-boost-item-temporarily-disabled/first#
Guild Wars 2 ok thanks for replying
Is every character will get lvl 80 pack or just one ?
Do you get the level 80 boost with the steam dlc ?
What will happen to all of my master points I currently have?
I got a Level 80 Boost, but when I tried to use it, it said "your teleport could not be completed due to level restrictions on your destination". My elementalist only level 2.
in my thief i had 2 pistols and a short bow casue i loved it! But when i boosten to 80 it gave me daggers instead.. can i choose what weapons i get as 80? casue those items are pretty good and if i want the same quality inn pistols they are quite expensive.
my shared inventory slot doesn't appear in my inventory. Any ideas why? Need help
It should contain the level 80 boost (top of your inventory) and remain there after you use the boost.
how does one get this cause would be nice since i recently did a complete restart on another server and would like to at least have 1 character at 80 now.
Now if i can only get the game to install without crashing non-stop, i'll be able to check this out, as i assume this is retro-active to those who already purchased the expansion?
I already use max boosted a character
Can i buy another one to boost another?
QUestion, so if you are a lvl 80 and use the boost, the gear you would get if you were not lvl 80, you still get these gear being lvl 80? Not sure if my question is good to be understood. But if I was lvl 10 and used it, Id get end game gear, if I am lvl 80 and use it I still get the end game gear?
do you still get the boost if you buy the DLC from a retailer (hard copy of heart of thorns)? Or do you have to buy it from the gw2 website?
+shark bait Buying HoT period gives you the boost.
But did you had enough hero points to learn your elite spec skills?
Is there a way to get the boost back if you consume it for one chrarcter, and then delete the account for that character? Or are you just stuck without a boost, and have to wait to you level your character to 80 again and get back to the place where you boosted previously by leveling all the way up from 1-80?.
what id like to know is if i can use this lv 80 boost on lv 80 (just to claim its armour) or i have to be max.79 to be able to open and use the boost?
So......this lets me 'try out' any class at max level? This gives the boost itself double value. Awesome.
Very clear explanation. nice work!
Well detailed walkthrough of the boost, i rarely see this well explained so you get 10/10 +1 Well explained.
Doesnt explain why you have to do the main story quest from level 1 because it teleports me no where near the new zones.
Question just looking at the level 80 boost, I see that the game would open the level 10 quest line. Would that mean. I can still do the Storyline I created before Playing the Heart of Thorns story?
Indeed
Good thing I used the boost on a Norn not knowing the Norn story was broken ;D
Wow. Crazy. Thanks. Thats awesome. :3
Dude sweet! I don't know if I could ever bring myself to consume it, though!
It sounds WAY too useful for previewing other classes at max level!
You can do that in PvP though, may not be the same but it gives you an idea of how they play and enough information to make your decision on who you want to lvl.
I know this video is a bit old but if you use the boost on a char already lvl 80 do you get the celestial gear or no?
no one?
Thanks, this is a good idea. Now you know there are going to be complainers, they'll find something. Like how instead of confirming twice to use, it should have been three times.
Need some help here
I used the boost on my alt character which was a necromancer, liked the way it played in the trial so i consumed the boost.
Now when i left the wastes my health and life force have dropped from 20k+ and 9k+ down to 800 and 500
Is this normal or is this a bug
Very useful information! Thank you so much!
I wonder what kind of options there is at "dev menu".
I bought hot and didn't receive one in shared inventory I can't find it
This was a thing that became insanly disliked in WoW when they started their boost thing. And now you guys add it in? Great idea!
I can't wait to see What else has changed to the better.
do you get a full exotic gear set if you consume the boost on an already lvl 80 character?
this is what I am trying to find out too. The text says "equips the character for max-level play". Does that include gear?
@@madhattie6392 it does. You get a full exo gear set
@@VilerVicious Thank you!
That was a good video. Thank you
after i use it i can use it on another character or its gone
So i just bought GW2 and was thinking of leveling a necro? should I or should I experience the game?
+Zach D You could see how will be your necro at lvl 80 and if you like it, level it up
is this a one time usage or what?
Its a pity you cant choose the exotic weapon and armor stats that you want
Question: Will the armour skin in the trial unlockable?
+Adam H yep
TheZar76 Thanks
Very well presented
where do i get it? will it just be there when i login?
When I try to use it, it gives me "you temporarily cannot use this item" or something similar to this, is it because I still have to download part of the game?
Hey, no that is not the reason. There was an issue with this item this weekend and we had to disable it: forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Level-80-boost-item-temporarily-disabled/first#
i wanna buy more boost but i cant find it in tp
Do I have to be online to able to get this?? I'm on vacation and computer is at home!!
+Koi the Fish If you bought Heart of Thorns you should have it until you use it in-game.
