I manage my inventory primarily by throwing away items that I later find I need or are of great value.

Hint: If you are running short of bank space, rather than buying bank expansions at 600 gems for 30 spaces, it may be more economical to buy an extra character to use as a "mule". It costs 800 gems rather than 600, but, if you equip your mule with four 15-slot bags (the most cost-effective bag size--about 1 gold per bag) you get 80 slots, which is 10gems/slot, rather than 20gems/slot for the bank expansion. Park your mule next to a bank. You will have to switch to your mule to transfer items to and from your bank, so this trick is best used to salt away items you aren't using, but don't want to throw out. (I call my mules "bankers", and they are all thieves, of course.)
"and they are all thieves" hahahahhahaha
My raging altitis and addiction to making funny looking, shiny characters just got a legitimate reason to be functional! Thanks, pal!
Time to load up my underutilised old guardian's bags with trinkets. \o/
But I still need to buy additional characters?
@@FullchanAnon Yes, but they cost 800 gems (and give you 80 storage slots), as opposed to a bank expansion, which costs 600 gems, but only gives you 30 slots. And of course you can buy gems with in-game gold--no cash required.

I need to farm more gold. Is the tunnel with Risen assaulting it at both ends still work? The one near Zaitans dungeon.
I cringed when you salvaged those rare greatswords. People buy those from the TP to chuck into the Mystic Forge in the hopes of getting the Eternity precursor, you they sell for 40-50s.You have probably been informed of this by now. . .
Oh yeah, I've since learned to sell those and not break them, quite a few folks told me about that opportunity I was missing. I'll gladly thumb this up to try to tell others.
Eternity does not have precursors, it is crafted by combining Sunrise and Twilight.
@@emixonalgaert4376 Interesting. I just looked it up and apparently to get the precursors for those weapons you don't even need to use greatswords. Why is the price always so inflated for them then?
@@PlanetFromOuterSpace because crafting a precursor is a nightmare, you need shit ton of mats that don't come cheap either and its time gated because some of them you get to craft 1 per day...
@@emixonalgaert4376 Yeah but wouldn't people throw in the cheaper rares instead? It doesn't appear that the input weapon type makes a difference on the output, if I'm reading the wiki right.
Just identify the 250 stack abd when it's nearing the end of the bag, close the inventory, it cancels the identify all action. Same goes for salvage all.
I can't believe I have played this for years and didn't know half of what you imparted. Thank you!
For me, when identifying unid gears, i will open sell TP window at the same time and sort by price to make it easier to see valuable yellows and oranges (usually greatswords/berserkers)

wow this works surprisignly well (after testign it out once)

Thanks Muk, really nice guide. I’ve been playing GW2 from launch so I have mostly forgot the aggravation a new player has with so little bag space at the start. I have been meaning to work on the 32 slot quest so thanks for the reminder. As for anything you missed ~ you might also want to mention “Invisible bags” I like to keep one on each character in the most bottom slot (for items I don’t want to salvage or vend as junk accidentally).
I've carried an invisible bag in my slots since almost the beginning, I love it! I stash stuff that I'm putting in bank in these and it makes it easier for me to remember what goes there!
Yes! thanks for this, finally got a computer that can handle gw2 and am just getting into it. The video and associated comments are golden.
Thanks, inventory management is often the biggest barrier for me getting back into this game
This was a really helpfull guide. I think this and crafting materials are probably the most intimidating aspects of the game as a vet coming back to the game.
It has been roughly 5 years since I first played and I never knew there was an option to visually have your inventory be one. There’s also a shit ton of things I did not know. Thank you so much for this ❤️❤️❤️
What you're doing at 10:15 is unnecessary. Just store your unidentified gear in invisible bags, and ALT-drag a chunk of them to your regular bags to ID and salvage. No need to swap in and out of your shared spaces.
I never salvage rare Great Swords because they are always worth around 40 silver in trading post.
I had never looked at those closely, I'll have to try that!
Pretty similar with swords. I like to look at popular gambling rares to see if they're worth or not
im just gonan go make lvl 53 character .... good thing i have stacks of experience in the bank :) lol
ty for the video and yes as others mentioned Mules ! must have mules !
Loved your video, it had a lot of great tips and it made me smile to think I'm still basically a newb and had already figured out a lot of these as well all on my own, but then I'm a inquisitive soul and love to click buttons, read descriptions, and find ways to make my life easier. I've also always used a 'bank mule' since my EQ days and I always try to invest in bank slots and bag slots for the mules, but I love the tip someone posted about the cost efficiency of character slot vs. bag slot! My favorite discovery in this video was how to open a stack of unidentified gear!!! I always wondered what trick people in videos used to instantly unpack these stacks! My fingers love you! (hmmm)
>/wiki
Oh God, yes! I've got a few items at the bottom of my bags and have no idea what they do.
With the goal of crafting a legendary weapon, I've noticed that I get the needed materials faster by selling unidentified gear on the tp and buying back the exact resources I need rather than identifying and salvaging. Maybe it's just because I am not doing enough to boost my magic find...idk. My accounts magic find is currently at 134%
I'm trying to get back into gw2 after a long break, your guides have been helpful on youtube
Missed out on giving this some love the first time so I wanted to fix that problem. Was a fun watch and learned a lot too you Global Icon and Brand Ambassador.
Pro tip: hidden bags arent affected by compact
Hi. Can you or anyone explain why open bags of gear at specifically level 53 😢
I am new 😅
Thank you for one more awesome video. The only thing you forget to mention is an answer on question "why do you need two different salvagers? why not use only good quality one for everyhting as its infinite anyway?" ------ the answer for those who wandering is: because the low-quality one costs 3 copper per use, while good quality one -- 30 copper per use.
You, did a "how to organize your bag" video, HUH?!
I can help clean up. Must be tough having to constantly clean those spills with your full cup.
Getting back into GW2 after playing back in 2012/2013 and this is the most informative video I've found yet.
Nice guide. I basically identify all my blues and salvage. Identify all greens and sell to vendor except for med gear, salvage these as they give leather. Identify all rares and salvage except for Greatswords/swords/staff and some daggers. Way i take it, rares have chance of giving 0-3 ectos, must be just my luck but i don't always get ectos from rare salvage. so i sell these gs/sw/staff and daggers as their value is higher than 1 ecto.
u can create a guild just for yourself. cost 100 gold. but u do get an entire guild bank for you, the only downside is u cant storage account bound stuff, but its still some "free" space for mats, aswell as an expandable one =)
Thanks so much I just started playing super noob, yeah I know... love your content!
I really enjoy using invisible and oiled bags to keep things organized and so that I do not accidentily sell stuff I didn't mean to.
Besides bags for junk, there are also bags for crafting material and armor/weapons. I usually craft them myself but I think most you can purchase at the TP.
Looking forward to the festivalbags, especially the christmasy ones. :D
Did you talk about how Bjora Marches Boreal Weapons Collection, gives you a new 32 slot bag recipe that costs about 2/3 the price of the recipes shown in the video?
I forgot that one, good tip!
Could you elaborate on that? I can't find that on the achiev pannel? Ty dude!
@@Petetudo The Karma merchant at the start of the zone sells the Boreal skins, once you buy the skin, you buy the restored recipe in the next tab. Then you craft the restored weapons, and the restored weapons are used in the next release for even more weapons.
I have stopped playing the game for about i think 3 years now, but you Sir Mukluk, explaining the game's mechanics and giving out tips, tricks and guides make me want to play it again xD. (I stopped playing due to my time schedule from student to working "adult" RIP haha) Subbed, might play again someday :)
This is my second time watching this video and each time I've picked up some new things. I think it's just that there are a lot of details about the things you can do and so it takes a while to get through them all and make them part of your habits instead of something you saw in a video and then forgot about before you could make use of it.
.
thanks a lot for this video, allthough I`m playing GW2 since 2014, inventory and bank management is my greatest issue ingame, shame on me
Talk about Inventory Management and the Mailbox is full :P
Mailbox management video is that way ->
😂
Well I feel silly... all this time I thought that the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic ran on copper ORE. I thought it was introduced to make is to that copper ore was still sought no matter how high in level people got and therefore, people that were just starting out could sell copper ore for a decent price in the AH.
You aren't the only one, I thought that for a very long time.
im happy i didnt make same misstake as u guys..haha
Sir, will you post 1080p videos?
I do now :) my more recent ones have been in 1080p, at the time I made this one I was unable to do so.
The view count sums up how badly we needed this
The capabilities in this MMO for inventory management is superior to any other MMO out there. Only wish they would allow the "Use all" to work on Tomes of knowledge.
SAME, thats on my list of "things I'd love to see added" for a possible future video.
@@MuklukUA-cam Hello. Not sure if you specifically want the "Use All" feature on Tomes of Knowledge, or just want a feature to convert the Tomes quickly to shards.
If you want to quickly convert to the shards, you can actually go to the Mystic Forge merchant in Lion's Arch (Miyani) or WvW Mystic Forge merchant and 'Buy' the shards using the Tomes as currency. You can buy them in bulk so that solves the problem I hope.
@@aznan8996 Oh, thank you! I'll look into that!
I just dont want those 80x level rewards on my minimap either :/ the biggest pain after using 80 tomes with your double click macro (thats also allowed to have macros on single-functions)

Loving your videos for a returning launch player. So much stuff to get up to speed! Thank you.
Extremely useful and informative.
Another small trick, buy you an invisible bag, works the same way as the Shared Inventory slot trick!
Got a question:
Salvage yellow unidentified gear with rune-thingy or silver-fed?
I own the silver-fed-salvage-matic and am wondering if the purchase of the other salvager is worth the gems...
I am kicking myself all over the place for never noticing “affected by magic find” on some containers. Thanks for that save.
This is easily among the most informative Guild Wars 2, nay gaming, nay VIDEOS of ALL time! Thank you so much for all your effort!!
My jaw dropped when u said equips don't take up bag space so use ur equipment templates to store gear... I have 1900hrs playtime....
Definitely agree with buy bank slots and not character slots.. I have a little under 200 slots, my bags barely fill to half. Bank is freaking stuffed tho.
edit; spellingz
OhMGosh, thanks so much. After been away over 7yrs, I have so much things, bags i have no idea if I should open or save them or sell them. Thanks
I mentioned this on one of your streams, but personally I only salvage yellow gear. Yellow weapons above level 75 I throw into the mystic forge; it resulted in me getting my first ever precursor last week!! :D (howl). I didnt know bag of gear should be done on 53 toon though, thanks muk
It's 49-53 but I would worry too much about the exact level unless you're really min/maxing (more iron and seasoned wood or plat and hard wood)
Thanks for the clarification! I just recently learned about the lvl 53 tip myself.
"coup de grace" every english man butchers it "coupe de grace" u ain't saying coupe de grasche cause you know the e is silent well fucking same shit with the fu king P!
Say it "coo da gras!" ffs Y-Y
Thank you for this video, it's been very helpful.. I've only been playing for a couple of weeks now and as of rn, if you sign up for the newsletter thingy on your account page, you can get a free 24 slot bag that is only account bound and can be moved from character to character. I found this very useful for trying out different professions to figure out which I like playing best. If you make sure nothing is in the bag, you can move it to bank slot and give it to a different character that way.
I just wish ArenaNet would reduce the amount of loot/inventory. This makes the game less fun. Great video though, thanks.
I wish they would get rid of "bag type" and give us free control of organization. Because you can't see the bag type any other way, the mega bag item is a great way to get in trouble when things compact or salvage you didn't mean to because you couldn't see the bag type.
And your comments on the bag slots are exactly why I refuse to buy them or any other character bound upgrades.
Hi i have 500 on tailoring. How get 28 slot bag recipe? Is it from discovery?
OMG this is so awesdome....only 2nd day into GW2 and thi is just an awesome video. Thank You!!
So what do you usually carry around in your bag? I have a hard time figuring out what is worth constantly carrying
How about Trophies in the game. They fil up bag pretty quick. Is a safe to delete them?
Subbed! thanks for the great video. Will be making my first character tonight.
There. You watched the video. Now stop watching UA-cam videos and go clean your inventory :p
Thanks for the tips. It will help a lot to new players like me. More power!
How do you get your inventory to show 1 big bag like that instead of having it show what's in each bag? The standard UI makes it so you can collapse and expand each bag. But I prefer to have it show just 1 giant box like that.
The option at 2:17
You just became my favourite youtuber thanks to that sparkle comment and edit! Laughed so hard brilliant!
How can I enable to show whitch container affected by Magic find? I don't have this line in my descriptions.
Your videos are teaching me alot, thank you, i just subscribed because the Coup de Grace bit had me spit out my drink!
Hmm you mention copper-fed salvage o matic looking at description says it uses 3 copper to use then i also see silver-fed salvage o matic but it doesn't even say that it uses silver when you salvage with it? is that just something they left off or doesn't it use silver when used? Its also cheaper then the copper one by 300 gems?
Thanks in advance.
As the name suggests, the cost per use was originally 1 Silver coin. The update on November 4, 2014 lowered the cost to 60 Copper coin, bringing it closer to that of a Master's Salvage Kit.
@@MuklukUA-cam Thanks and really that kinda sucks. I guess copper one is better deal then or? Sorry haven't played game in a long time so no idea on prices etc.
@@lorddread22 I have a video comparing the salvage kits you might be interested in: mukluklabs.com/gw2-new-players-guides/#salvage
@@MuklukUA-cam awesome thanks if you could only get 1 which would it be i wonder :) of the 3 since there is a 3rd one.
Great tips. Thanks much! Really enjoyed your talking character; seems to be synced with actual audio.
Excellent video
Let's go 2021
Is it bad to use the rune salvage o matic for everything? Why would I not want to do this if I have it but don’t have the copper salvage yet
awesome video
the cluttered inventory is the reason i quit this game... its so bad
QUESTION: Why wouldnt you use the better infinite slavage kit on everything why use the lesser infinite for greens and rares at all if the better one is just better?
The better one is more expensive to use
i accidentally bought 6250 yeast can someone tell me what to do with it XD im chef 400 atm
I don't think you mentioned invisible bags , stuff kept there will not be salvaged when pressing salvage all , will not be deposited when pressing deposit all and wont show up on the vendor when selling stuff , so you wont sell anything by mistake . I usually use it as my bottom bag and keep stuff i wanna save there.
They can also confuse the hell out of you when a piece of junk accidentally ends up in the bag and is missed by the 'sell all junk' button. It didn't get sold, so obviously it is important!
7:43 hahahaha
Thank you, dude with bananaguard voice!
Ty for a clear inventory lay out video. Your awesome and helped me greatly sort my complete mess
Magic find no longer change the loot from the unid items opening, just the drop of the unid items itself
Wut does 40% chance to salvage upgrade mean ?
4:00 So satesfyinnnnnngggg!!!!!
I'm on a free account so I picked up Armorsmithing and made my own bags. Currently making 15-slot boxes right now, the extra 22 slots going from two 4-slot bags to 15's makes a significant difference. It's a shame I can't use them in the bank too.
I always clean each character's bag completely before I log out, down to zero, baby. It really helps you prioritize important things and avoid hoarding garbage, and makes hunting for that one thing you left on a character way easier to find.
My only exception to that rule is when i'm farming materials or crafting a legendary, i'll leave everything related to that on one character so I know where to find it.
Heropannel->achievements->Story Journal =>
"Flame and Frost"[Rox's Reinforced Treat Bag] 20 slot
and
"Sky Pirates" [Marjory's Tool Belt] 20 slot. Just spotted those.
What about all those boosters we hoard, I mean eternally save for later?
i've another small trick for a free unlimited material storage.
create another free account and send your material (no account bound) to this account
after, when you need your materials, go in your free account and use "return to sender" in post.
i know it's a little tricky but can help in beginning
I don't have any of the options to Merge my bags or anything
Your videos are very helpful
Very informative. Thank you, sir.
Hint: don’t deposit materials. Keep green and blue unidentified gear in your shared slots assuming you have the room. Reveal your blue stack. When your Inv is full it will warn you that you have no space. This is when you deposit your materials. You now have room and that single item finds a spot. Now salvage…. Do not deposit… max your inv again with blues… deposit to make room for the single overflow.
You can do this trick with 1000 unidentified gear by simply filling your inv only with undeposited materials. It is incredibly effective and you don’t need to split stacks or count how much space you have.
I have 500 Strawberry Shortcakes!
I Just got into gw2 bought the WHOLE game. Thanks for all the tips man. You very Begginer friendly
Been playing GW2 for about 2 years and still am not sure when to get rid of a quest item. Esp. books. I has a problem. I guess most people would say... wiki it. Right? Hm, I don't always have time for that.
I just started the game today too. Thanks!
Thanks for the vid, one question I have is why not use the high quality infinite salvage kit on greens and blues?
The high quality kit costs (I think) 10 times the coin per salvage as the low quality one, so I don't use it on lower end items. I will say that I don't have any math to back up that that is the right thing to do, that is just the habit I have built.
This. Is. All. BRILLIANT.
That is all.
Mukluk, I've always wondered this... How do you get your Asura to talk like that? 😂
Type /talk in game to do a talking animation, then I talk over it
