Thank you Edward for this wonderfully informative video. Very helpful. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to produce videos that are so insightful and so needed
Great stuff
As an American and ethnically mestizo of Italian, German, and Chamorro heritage I tend to have the opinion that Guamanian is people of Guam, regardless of ethnicity. Terms with the land’s name in it just signify where one lives and/or nationality. Such as American , Mexican, etc , regardless of ethnicities they are American, or Mexican. That’s how I see it
You are 50/50%😂😅😂😅
not full Islanders😅
I'm ethnically Filipino, but born and raised in Guam...hence I'm Guamanian
you're still Filipino. Chamorros don't become Hawaiian or Filipino when they move to Hawaii and the Philippines

Yea... Chamorro sounds better🎉😂
Si yu’us ma’åse para este infotmåsion. Excellent video as always che’lu. I’ve always called myself Chamorro (now CHamoru) for myself, and Guamanian for my Chinese grandma since she was born and raised on Guam.
Guamanian is a constructed term to create boundaries between Our People. They want us to see ourselves as separate from each other not all related and One People. Now used as the hyphenated other for all residents of the Mariana Islands. Diaspora continue to use Guamanian. Great background and analysis che'lu! Guaho CHamoru!
Wow, yet another informative a d engaging video! :) Keep up the good work!
In Texas I knew 2 gorgeous brothers in high school (1980s). They were very popular. ❤ They always referred to themselves as Guamanian. They moved back to their beautiful island late 80s.
Bro making this video is a Guamanian cuz all the Chamoros I know don't look anything like him, especially before Y2K
Eye opener, nice 🤙
I’m samorro
Chamorro..... Chamorro, and there isn't a being that's a Guamanian. It's just a word. 🤦🏻♂️
The local people on Guam are Chamorro's, nothing else unless they have a different origin or want to be identified with a different pronoun... Lol, by oh means homie...
I am the Kwizatz Haderach.
As always, well said, Pulan. Also, throughout the Marianas, as far as our currency is concerned, three clam shells equal one U.S. dollar. I can speak on such matters because I’m Chamorro, Guamanian, AND Saipanese. 😊

¡Buenos Dias Professor Leon Guerrero! This is Jen B., your Sociology student from the University of Guam!!!
If all living Chamorros are in fact all mestizos carrying Spanish blood, why can they not call themselves "Hispanic"?? They are so comfortable going on to call themselves Pacific Islanders.
I love your awesome videos!!
Hopefully, you still post content while you are finishing your Doctorate's.
Ciao 🌻
hardly any Chamorros even speak Spanish, so no. Hispanic is not about genetics. It's about language and culture
This is mestizaje rhetoric which is quite harmful to Indigenous people. The phrase “todos somos mestizos” perpetuates the idea that our indigenous CHamoru identity is nonexistent and we all belong to a homogenous national culture/identity which is untrue. I highly recommend watching PulanSpeaks’ video “Are there any pure CHamorus left”. I am a Hispanic CHamoru because I am ethnically Spanish and raised with my language and culture, not because CHamorus were colonized by Spain. Not all CHamorus have Spanish ancestry or were raised with the culture. The only CHamorus that are Hispanic are those mixed and raised with the culture like me. Our identity is firmly CHamoru, Micronesian, Pacific Islander, Indigenous. We do not identify as Hispanic nor are we recognized as such by Hispanic peoples. I hope this helps!
You are 50/50%.you are not full Islanders 😂😂😅😅
Better not to label people. It causes division among the populace. I believe everyone should be Guamanians but let the Indigenous people keep their identity and culture. The original people should not be forced to abandon their roots.I am from Micronesia. We are Micronesians but we have kept our customs and traditions since eternity. Politics might change but culture must be kept.
One thing I have a problem with Chamorro and Guamanian is that they lost a lot of their culture and now they steal dances from Polynesia and call it their own.
Are you a Chamorro?
If you’re not then you don’t know shit about our culture. What “dances” did they steal from Polynesia and call their own? 🤡
That's Guam not in Saipan😊
shut your crybaby face . They can do whatever they wish.
Polynesians think they are Jamaican and Stole reggae music
A lot of Filipinos in Guam
Bout 30%of the population
A lot of whites in the Philippines
So pleased to see you posting more content. We get so little information about your people's history and current events. I'm Black American, descended of West and Central African American slaves. It's not a point of pride, just a point of reality.
You are not Islanders.
You don't know what you talking about
Chamorro is a spanish word. Look up the Chamorro family from nicaragua. I think, as locals, we need to push to be called Guamanians. Its a least a small step towards establishing an identity.
I believe there is a dish in mexico called chamorro also.
@@bryanquichocho1280Hu’u dai. We Chamorros are delicious nai.
